Chapter Three

Lyric's POV

I had a blast yesterday with my friends at my birthday party. It was actually really nice having an actual party and this was the first year in a long time that I actually had someone to celebrate with and really felt like celebrating.

As for today, Susanna and I are having some alone time. She wants to (and I quote) "show me the joy of yard sale finds" (unquote).

So that's why we are out on this cool November morning driving around. "We are looking for the goods." Susanna says from the driver seat in a Chicago Gang Dude voice.

I laugh uncontrollably, "Have you ever thought of doing voice acting?"

"All the time, dahling!" Susanna nods enthusiastically. She nearly bounces in her seat. "Look it's a church yard sale!!!" She whips the car into the parking lot, leaving me reeling just a wee bit. Oh man now she's rubbing off on me too. :P Oh well, I think I'll be alright.

Susanna went scurrying off somewhere in the tons of stuff from lots of families from this church. She was like a kid in a candy store.

"Looking for a good read?" I looked up to see a girl about medium height with a very sweet smile with wavy brown hair and bright blue eyes. "I'm Evelyn by the way."

"I'm Lyric. Nice to meet you, Evelyn. Yeah, actually. Any recommendations?" I find myself asking.

"You too. " Evelyn gives me a big grin. "Hmmm." She hums, tapping a finger on her chin as she thinks. "AHA!" She calls out, making me jump just a little. "This."

"Jody Baer?" I read the author's name. "Never heard of her." I flip 'Lonely Girl' over and read the blurb on the back. It feels like a weight is on me, I can barely breath. "Thanks, Evelyn."

"Your welcome. I'm not really sure why. For some reason I just feel that book is meant for you." Evelyn says, we then part ways and I catch up with Susanna.

"You ready?" Susanna says, holding two boxes full of goodies.

"Yep." She nearly dumps her finds. "Let me help you." I grab one box and put my book gently inside.

I don't know how, I don't know why. But God is calling me to read this book. I think it's going to make a difference. Someway. Somehow. For someone.
