Chapter Eight

Susanna's POV

I don't dare tell anyone the truth. Especially Joey.

The whole incident with the peanuts in the cupcake. I really can't make myself believe it was an accident.

I have good reason to think this.

Like the hate mail and other things I have been receiving in the mail and taped on my car windshield.

I have literally kept them all hidden from everyone, even Lyric and Lynn.

I peek out the window and see a piece of paper on my car windshield. I have to go get it. Before someone else sees it. I don't want anyone worrying.

I make a mad dash down the flights of stairs and am in sight of my car when I see a tall figure standing next to my car, the paper in his hand. "Chad." I call out, hoping to distract him before he opens it.

"Hey there little sis." He looks up, shaking the paper. "This was on your car."

I trip forward and snatch the paper away, crumpling it up in my hand. "Those pushy people. I never did care for when people go around putting stuff on people's windshields, it's like 'please don't touch my car'." Yes, I know that I'm rambling, but I can't let him see the paper. I don't even know what this one says yet. "What brought you here, Chaddy?"

Just as I hoped the nickname made him capture me in a headlock. "Well apparently my little sis needs some schooling in obeying and being nice to her elders."

I roll my eyes, somewhat forgetting about the paper. "Your not that much older. Fallon and I are the same age."

He looks at me with a funny look on his face, then breaks out laughing. "And yet so many leagues of maturity apart."

"Right. Says you." I shake my head, "Seriously, did you need something, bro?"

"Yeah, wanted to talk to you about a song." Chad said, I led him inside and upstairs to one of the music rooms and we ran through his idea. Me playing the piano and him singing the words he had written. He didn't want to let the other guys in one it just yet, because... well... most people knew Alan or Caleb as the songwriters. And Chad was the one that when people found out he was a songwriter too, well they were surprised. Pleasantly so, but still an air of surprise was around the usually goofy tall dude.

We parted ways after a couple of hours and then I realized the paper was still in my jean pocket.

Part of me is insisting on just throwing it in the trash or lighting a match to it.

But the other part of me wins out. I open up the paper.

It's me again, Susanna.

I heard that you made it out of my little "nutty" trap, okay. Uh... whatever.

This isn't over yet.

I WILL get Joey Stamper!

And I'm going to do everything I can to get your little country butt out of the way.

If you know what's good for you, you'll run back home.

Before I start causing more "accidents".

If you get my drift.

Tata. Hope to see you never again!

I lean against my bed and cry. Why does this have to be happening? Yes, I had to face a similar situation to this in high school when some mean girls wouldn't leave me alone. But this is so much different. So much worse.

She could have killed me!

God help me. Do I leave Joey? Or is that just the coward's way out?
