Young love (1/1)

Mayank sighed while walking through the hallway to reach his class, still feeling more sleepy than ever. He liked school but wasn't very fond of waking up early for it. Couldn't the classes start a little bit late? Fortunately, it was his last year and even though he'll miss his school and friends more than anything, he was looking forward to the next chapter of his life very much.

He yawned, walking into his classroom. Noticing his friends seated at a far corner in the class, he made his way up to them.

"Hey, Ish..." He started, trailing off as his eyes settled on a boy sitting beside Ishan, a very pretty one to be precise.

Mayank definitely hadn't seen him before 'cause if he had, he would've definitely remembered this beauty. He looked at little awkward or you could say shy. Probably new. Mayank concluded. But  before he could muse more about the boy internally, he was snapped out of his thoughts by Ishan's voice.

"Mayank, oye Mayank, konse sapne dekh raha hai din mein," Ishan muttered, snapping his fingers infront of Mayank's face.

Mayank shook his head to clear his thoughts, a little embarrassed that he was caught staring, "Oh, nothing,"

"You look curious. Well, this is my cousin, Abhishek." Ishan smiled, introducing the pretty boy to him, "He had just came here from Punjab. Do you mind keeping him company during the class?"

"Of course," Mayank smiled, keeping his bag beside Abhishek's on the table.

"I understand that you'd like to sit with your majnu," He added, giving Ishan and Shubman who was sitting beside him, a teasing smile.

"God, shut up," Ishan said Shubman said at the same time, their faces turning a bright shade of pink.

Bell rang and they settled on their seats immediately.

"Hey, Abhishek. I'm Mayank," Mayank smiled, forwarding his hand to the boy who smiled shyly, shaking it.

"Nice to meet you, Mayank," Abhishek said.

"Same here," Mayank smiled back.

"Do you mind if I ask why did you change school now?" Mayank asked, "I mean, no one really changes school in 12th since it's board, you know,"

Abhishek sighed, getting his books out of his bag, "My father had to transfer here because of work so,"

"Oh. Well, I'm here if you need help in any school work," Mayank offered, "It can be really hard to adjust in a new school specially if it's in another state. You know different boards, different patterns and teaching styles,"

"Thank you, that's very nice of you," Abhishek smiled widely, surprised by the generosity.

"No worries," Mayank glanced away from him, his heart skipping a beat by the pretty boy's pretty smile. God, why's he so cute?

-

"Oh, lord. I can't do it," Abhishek sighed, closing the file as he messed up the map again.

"Here, let me do it," Mayank smiled. Taking his file, he carefully started to draw the map, being extra cautions to not mess up anything.

"Why do we have to draw the maps?" Abhishek whined, "We can just buy one and paste it,"

Mayank chuckled, "Only if it were that easy,"

"This is ridiculous," Abhishek mumbled, flopping face first on the bed and burying his face in the pillow.

"I know right," Mayank agreed.

It has been two months and Abhishek had grown a lot closer to Mayank. Mayank was so nice that it was inevitable to be comfortable around him. Right now, they were at Mayank's house, working on a school project.

"Hey, boys, how's the project going?" Mayank's mother asked, entering the room.

"It's going fine, mummy," Mayank smiled.

"Great. Here, I got some food for you both," She said, placing the tray full of burgers and orange juice on the bedside table.

"Thank you so much, auntie," Abhishek expressed with a smile as she left them alone.

"You know what, Abhi, mumma told me that she really likes you," Mayank said, his eyes still focused on the file as he drew the map.

"What? Really?" Abhishek asked, surprised.

"Yeah, you're her favourite out of all my friends," Mayank said.

Abhishek giggled, "I've just met her, like thrice,"

"Yet you're her favourite," Mayank shrugged, "Speaks a lot about your charm, pretty boy," He mumbled, shooting Abhishek a wink.

"Shut up," Abhishek rolled his eyes, his cheeks turning a little pink.

"Okay, leave that for a while and eat first," He added, carefully settling the tray on the bed.

"Just a few minutes, I'm almost done," Mayank muttered, not looking up from the file. In a second, a burger was held out infront of his lips. He looked up to see Abhishek smiling at him as he gestured him to take a bite.

He let on a small smile as he took a bite, "Thank you," He muttered after chewing the food.

-

Abhishek and Mayank, both of them stood in Mayank's balcony, watching the sun slowly descending down towards the horizon. The sky was painted with different hues of pink and orange, looking absolutely magical.

"It's getting late. I think I should leave," Abhishek spoke, even though he so don't want to leave.

Mayank looked at him, his face illuminated by the warm sunlight, making him look even more pretty.

"What are you doing tomorrow?" Mayank asked.

Abhishek glanced at him, muttering, "I'm sleeping late,"

"What?"

"I mean, what else are you supposed to do on a sunday?" Abhishek shrugged.

"You have a point," Mayank chuckled, "Well, do you wanna go the library with me tomorrow?"

"Are you asking me out, sweetie? If so, then the answer is yes," Abhishek winked.

"Huh?" Mayank muttered, dumbfounded. God, did my heart just picked up pace?"

"Don't be too wide-eyed, I'm just joking," Abhishek smiled, looking back at the sky. The sun has completely set by now, there were just tiny bit traces of light in the sky. The street lights had also started to turn on.

"Joking, oh," Oh. Mayank mumbled quietly, almost to himself.

"I'd love to go to the library with you," Abhishek smiled, walking back inside the room and gathering his stuff, "Okay, bye. I'll see you tomorrow," He smiled, waving.

Mayank smiled, waving back as the boy slowly vanished from his sight. Sigh.

Suddenly, he ran back to his balcony, just in time to see the boy about to turn the road, "Bye, Abhi. I can't wait to see you tomorrow,"

Abhishek looked up when he heard the shouting, his lips curling up in a big smile, "Me too," He shouted back, smiling.

The smile was still there when Abhishek reached his home. And it still didn't leave as Abhishek and Mayank, both of them walked back to their room and collapsed on their bed.

-

"Oh, my Goodness! Aren't they just so cute?" Abhishek gushed for the nth time as him and Mayank were reading a book together at the library.

"They are," Mayank chuckled quietly, "But keep it a little lower, Abhi. Otherwise we'll definitely be kicked out of the library,"

"I just can't help it," Abhishek sighed dramatically, "Alex and Henry is just a little too cute for my heart,"

"Yeah, I get you, let's complete this book. It's getting late," Mayank said, his smile reaching his eyes.

Even though the book was absolutely swoon-worthy, Mayank couldn't focus much. Abhishek's quiet giggles whenever there was a cute scene always seemed successful in distracting him. Sometimes their fingers brushed together while flipping the pages, increasing Mayank's heartbeat as well as the colour in his face. He couldn't help stealing glances at Abhishek from time to time, unaware that the other one was doing the same as well, shy smiles playing on both of their lips.

"This was really nice. We should do this more often," Abhishek said as they stepped out of the library.

"Yeah, we should," Mayank smiled.

Abhishek smiled back, suddenly pulling the other boy in a hug. Mayank froze in his spot, his eyes widening.

"Bye, Mayank. I'll see you in school tomorrow," Abhishek whispered softly, still holding the other one close.

"Yeah," Mayank mumbled, slowly wrapping his arms around him.

When they pulled back after a minute, both of their cheeks were tinted with a light pink hue as they avoided one another's eyes.

"Bye," Abhishek mumbled, turning in his heels to walk off.

Mayank looked at him for a second before also turning the other way to go home. They turned back to glance at each other at the same time, giggling softly upon noticing the other.

-

Abhishek was standing in the hall of his school building, a bittersweet smile on his lips as he roamed his eyes around on the place, the classrooms, staffrooms, the students giggling and laughing together, some even crying while hugging each other.

"What's up, pretty boy?" Mayank asked, approaching Abhishek and slinging an arm around his shoulder.

Abhishek looked at him, his eyes growing teary with each passing second, "I know it has just been a year since I came here but I have already grown to love this place so much," He sighed, "I'm going to miss it so much. I'm going to miss everyone so much. Ishan, Shubman and specially you,"

Mayank smiled, gently wiping away the tear that slid down Abhishek's cheek, "Well, you wouldn't have to miss me 'cause I'm not going anywhere. You aren't getting rid of me this soon, pretty boy,"

Abhishek chuckled weakly, engulfing Mayank in a hug. Burying his face in the other's shoulder, he mumbled, his voice muffled, "Thank you,"

No matter how much you dislike going to school, the last day always end up in some tears. Maybe it's not about the school itself but the people. People who make your miserable school life a bit more bearable, people who give you a reason to look forward to the next day of school. Maybe It's about friends who teases you at any given chance but are always there for you when you need them, maybe it's about those teachers that somehow inherit the title of being your favourite. Maybe it's about first crushes, about those stolen glances, subtle touches and shy smiles. Maybe, no it's definitely about the people.

"Okay, pretty boy. Let's go somewhere, huh," Mayank smiled, pulling back from the hug and dragging Abhishek out of the school with him.

"Wait, where?" Abhishek asked.

"Let's go to the beach," Mayank replied.

"Okay," Abhishek smiled softly as they walked to the beach.

It was pretty cloudy today, showing signs of raining. They chatted while walking on the beach, the waves coming again and again to wash their sand filled feets. Their fingers brushed together as they walked. Abhishek looked towards Mayank surprised as the latter intertwined their fingers together.

"Wanna sit down?" Mayank asked, not looking Abhishek in the eye.

"Hmm," Abhishek hummed, biting back a smile as they sat down on the sand. He sighed, closing his eyes, gentle breeze kissed their faces along with the waves tickling their feets.

"Pretty boy?"

"Hm?"

"I wanna tell you something," Mayank muttered, his heart beating in his ears.

Abhishek opened his eyes and looked at him, "Go ahead,"

"I- I," Mayank stuttered, rubbing his hands on his pants as they had turned sweaty.

"Hey, don't be nervous," Abhishek mumbled, planting a hand on his shoulder, "Just tell me,"

Mayank gulped, squeezing his eyes shut, "I like you,"

Abhishek blinked, his face heating up. He hadn't expected that, "As in like-like?"

Mayank opened his eyes, his face flushed, just like Abhishek's, "Um, yes. You know romantic wala like,"

"Oh," Abhishek muttered. OH. OH. OH. OH, MY GOD!!

"Um, so?" Mayank asked nervously.

"I like you too," Abhishek smiled, glancing away from him, his heartbeat getting faster and faster.

"Really?" Mayank asked, his face lighting up with the biggest smile.

"Yeah," Abhishek mumbled, still feeling too shy to look at him directly.

Mayank giggled, pulling the boy in a hug, "You're so cute, pretty boy,"

"You know, I really love when you call me pretty boy," Abhishek mumbled quietly, still in the other's embrace.

Mayank felt like his heart would burst out of his chest from the amount of adoration he's feeling right now.

Pulling back from the hug, he smiled at the other one softly, "Can I kiss you, pretty boy?"

Abhishek smiled shyly, nodding. Mayank closed the gap between them, letting their lips meet in a soft kiss. Abhishek smiled against the kiss, wrapping his arms around the other one. The kiss was a little sloppy and messy since they didn't really know how to kiss properly but even though it wasn't perfect, the butterflies in their stomach made up for everything.

"You know, you are my first kiss," Pulling out of the kiss, Abhishek breathed, a soft smile adorning his lips.

"Mine as well," Mayank muttered, both of their cheeks tinted with intense blush as they hugged each other again.

Hey, aksh_3005, I tried writing something on school wala pyaar. I hope you like it.

Also, people, tell me how was this one? Even though I haven't actually fallen in love ever, from what I think school wala love is supposed to be pure and innocent more than anything else. I tried to capture the essence of that. I really hope it was up to mark.

Okay, bye.
Love ya.
