Chapter-65: Earning Trust

The morning sun shone brightly over the Murty mansion, casting a warm glow on the gathering in the living room. Friends and family had come to check on Nandini, filling the space with a hum of conversation and concern. Mukti and Cabir stood off to the side, talking quietly to each other.

"Where do you think Manik is?" Mukti asked, glancing around. "He hasn’t left the mansion gate for weeks."

Cabir shrugged. "I have no idea. It’s strange not seeing him here."

Their conversation was interrupted by a sudden commotion from outside. A loud, upbeat music started playing, catching everyone's attention. They all rushed out to the garden area to see what was happening.

A large group of people, dressed in coordinated outfits, had assembled in the garden. The synchronized dance routine began with energetic moves, captivating everyone with its vibrancy and precision. The dancers spread out, forming lines, and then, with a flourish, Manik made his entrance.

The song "Jaane Bhi De" from the movie Heyy Babyy filled the air, and Manik started dancing with the group, his movements confident and expressive. He danced around the garden, his eyes searching for Nandini amidst the crowd.

O meri jaan na lele ke meri jaan
O meri jaan na lele ke meri jaan
Teri ada
Teri ada
Jaan jala na tujhe pe deewana
Jaan jala na tujhe pe deewana
Mein hoon fida
Mein hoon fida

Manik's steps were playful and lively as he twirled and spun, drawing everyone’s attention. The dancers moved in harmony, creating an enthralling spectacle.

Gustakhi maaf karde
Abb to insaaf karde
Apna dil saaf karde
Kehna to maan le o
Jaane bhi de bhi hua jaane bhi de
Jaane bhi de bhi hua jaane bhi de
Jaane bhi de bhi hua jaane bhi de
Jaane bhi de bhi hua jaane bhi de

Manik’s gaze locked onto Nandini as the dancers surrounded her, gently coaxing her into the center of the performance. Despite her initial resistance, she was soon encircled by the dancers, with Manik dancing around her, trying to coax a smile from her.

Tanha na kategi zindgani jaanle tu Meri hi zarurat tujhko hogi maanle tu
Tanha na kategi zindgani jaanle tu Meri hi zarurat tujhko hogi maanle tu
Mar ke bhi na chodunda Teri baahien tera raasta

Nandini tried to maintain her composure, but a small smile tugged at her lips when Manik made a series of cute, exaggerated faces. He continued dancing, pouring his heart into each step, his eyes never leaving hers.

gu.gu.gu.Gustakhi maaf karde
Abb to insaaf karde
Apna dil saaf karde
Kehna to maan le
o Jaane bhi de bhi hua jaane bhi de
Jaane bhi de bhi hua jaane bhi de
Jaane bhi de bhi hua jaane bhi de
Jaane bhi de bhi hua jaane bhi de

As the song reached its climax, the dancers came together, forming the word "SORRY" by standing in shape. Manik dropped to his knees in front of Nandini, holding a heart-shaped balloon, his face full of hope and regret.

The music faded, leaving a stunned silence. Manik looked up at Nandini, his eyes pleading for forgiveness. For a moment, she just stared at him, her expression unreadable. Then, with a decisive move, she reached out and burst the balloon with her hand.

Without a word, Nandini turned and walked away, leaving Manik kneeling on the ground. The crowd dispersed, murmuring in surprise and disbelief at what they had witnessed.

Manik remained there, watching her retreating figure, feeling a mix of heartbreak and determination. He knew this was just the beginning of his journey to win her back, and he was prepared to do whatever it took.

In the days that followed, Manik continued to show his sincerity and determination through various efforts, hoping to break through Nandini's walls.

One morning, Manik decided to take a different approach. So, he arranged for a group of musicians to perform outside the Murty mansion. The melodious strains of sitar, flute, and tabla filled the air, creating a serene atmosphere.

Nandini, who had been ignoring his previous gestures, couldn't help but listen to the soothing music. Though she didn't show it, the music touched her heart.

Later that day, Manik was sitting in his car outside the Murty mansion when Cabir joined him.

"Manik, you've been out here every day," Cabir said, concern evident in his voice. "You look like you haven't slept or eaten properly in weeks."

Manik sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I can't stop, Cabir. I can't give up on Nandini. I have learned that she's everything to me, and I've hurt her so much. I need to make it right."

"But you need to take care of yourself too," Cabir said gently. "What's your plan? You can't just keep sending gifts and hope for the best."

Manik looked at his friend, his eyes filled with determination. "I know she won't forgive me with material things. I have to show her that I've changed and that I'm willing to do anything to make up for my mistakes. I just... I don't know how to reach her."

Cabir thought for a moment. "Show her that you're serious about being a part of their lives."

Manik nodded slowly. "You're right. I need to show her that I'm committed to our future. But every time I try to talk to her, she shuts me out."

"Have you considered writing her a letter?" Cabir suggested. "Pour your heart out, explain everything you've been feeling, and what you plan to do to make things right."

Manik's eyes lit up with hope. "That's a great idea. Maybe if I write everything down, she'll understand."

Cabir smiled, patting Manik on the back. "Good. Now, let's get you something to eat. You can't win her back if you collapse from exhaustion."

That evening, Manik sat down with a pen and paper, pouring his heart into a letter for Nandini. He wrote about his regrets, his love for her, and his dreams for their future together. He explained how he planned to be a supportive partner and father, and how he would never take her for granted again.

The next morning, Manik slipped the letter under the door of the Murty mansion, hoping Nandini would read it.

The days went by, and Manik continued his efforts. He arranged for a surprise picnic in the garden, complete with all of Nandini's favorite foods and a cozy setup under a large tree. When Nandini, Ishita, and Vivek stepped outside, they were greeted with the sight of the beautiful arrangement.

"Manik, what is this?" Nandini asked her tone a mix of annoyance and curiosity.

"I wanted to do something special for you," Manik replied softly. "I know words aren't enough, but I hope this shows you how much I care."

Nandini hesitated, her heart conflicted. She appreciated the effort, but the pain of the past still lingered. She turned away, not wanting to give him false hope.

Later that evening, Cabir found Manik sitting on a bench in the garden, looking dejected.

"How did it go?" Cabir asked, sitting beside him.

"She didn't stay," Manik said quietly. "I don't blame her. I've hurt her too much."

"Don't lose hope, Manik," Cabir encouraged.

Manik sighed. "I just want her to see how much I've changed. I want to be there for her and the baby, to make up for all the pain I've caused."

"You will, Manik," Cabir said confidently. "Just keep being sincere and patient. She'll come around."

The next day, Manik decided to show Nandini that he was serious about being a father. He spent the day setting up a nursery in the Malhotra mansion, carefully choosing every detail to create a warm and loving environment for their baby. He painted the walls a soothing pastel color, assembled the crib, and decorated the room with soft toys and baby accessories.

In the evening, he video calls Ishita as he knows Nandini will not pick up his call to show the nursery, hoping it would touch her heart.

"Nandini, I know I've hurt you, and I can't undo the past," Manik said as he stood in the nursery. "But I want you to see that I'm committed to our future. This room is for our baby, and I want to be a part of their life, and yours."

Nandini looked around the room, her expression softening for a moment before she turned away. "Manik, it's not about the room or the gifts. It's about trust. You broke my trust, and it's going to take more than this to fix it."

"I know," Manik said, his voice filled with emotion. "And I'll keep trying, every day, to earn back that trust, and I won't give up on us."

As the weeks passed, Manik continued his efforts with unwavering determination. He attended prenatal classes, learned about baby care, and even started reading books on parenting. He wanted to prove to Nandini that he was serious about being a good father and partner.

One evening, while sitting in the garden with Cabir, Manik opened up about his fears and hopes.

"Cabir, what if she never forgives me?" Manik asked, his voice trembling. "What if I've lost her forever?"

"You have to believe that things will get better," Cabir said reassuringly. "Nandini is hurt. She just needs time to heal and see that you've truly changed."

"I'll wait as long as it takes," Manik said, determination in his eyes. "I'll do everything in my power to make things right."

Cabir smiled, proud of his friend's perseverance. "That's the spirit, Manik. Keep fighting for her and the baby. They'll see your sincerity."

Manik continued his efforts with hope in his heart. He knew he had a long way to go, but he was ready to do whatever it took to win back her trust.

Nandini sat by the window in her room, looking out at the garden where Manik had just performed a heartfelt dance a few days ago. Her heart was heavy with conflicting emotions. She closed her eyes, letting her thoughts drift back to that fateful day.

It had started as one of the happiest days of her life. Her family and friends had gathered for her baby shower, celebrating the upcoming arrival of her little one.

She had felt a sense of completeness and joy, surrounded by love and laughter. And in the midst of it all, she had realized something profound – she had started to fall in love with Manik.

She remembered the flutter of excitement in her heart, the way she had looked at him that day, feeling a connection she hadn't acknowledged before. Despite their rocky past, despite the misunderstandings and arguments, she had begun to see a future with him. She had been ready to embrace this new chapter in her life with Manik by her side.

But then, everything had shattered. Manik's anger had erupted, spewing hurtful words that cut deep. The joy and hope she had felt had been replaced by pain and betrayal. He had accused her of things she hadn't done, and his words had broken her heart. She opens the letter which she found on the door.

Dear Nandini,

I know words might seem hollow to you right now, given the pain I've caused. But words are all I have to express the depth of my remorse and the intensity of my love for you. Please, Nandini, take a moment to read this letter. It comes from the deepest part of my heart.

That day, the day everything changed, was one of the happiest days of my life too. I saw you surrounded by love and joy, and for the first time, I realized just how much you mean to me. I was ready to tell you that I wanted to give us a real chance, to build a future together, to be a family. But my anger, my fears, and my insecurities got the best of me. I said things I didn't mean, and in my rage, I hurt the person I cared about the most.

I know my actions were unforgivable. I know that my words cut deep and that the trust we were starting to build was shattered. But, Nandini, I am truly sorry. Every single day since then, I've regretted my actions. I've seen the pain in your eyes, and it haunts me. I can't undo what I've done, but I want to spend the rest of my life making it up to you.

These gifts I've been sending, they're not meant to buy your forgiveness. They're a small token of my realization of the time I've wasted, the moments I've ruined. I'm not just sorry for that one day, Nandini. I'm sorry for all the days I let my past and my anger come between us. I'm sorry for every tear you've shed because of me.

Seeing you in pain, especially during our baby's false labor scare, made me realize just how much I care for you and our little one. I want to be there for you, to support you, to protect you. I want to be the father our baby deserves and the husband you need.

I understand that I've lost your trust and that it won't be easy to regain it. I understand that you need time and space. But please, Nandini, know that I am here, ready to do whatever it takes to make things right. I will wait for you, for as long as it takes. I will continue to show you through my actions that I've changed, and that I am committed to being a better person for you and our baby.

Please, give me a chance to prove myself. Give us a chance to rebuild what we've lost. I will keep fighting for you, for us, because you are worth it. Our family is worth it.

With all my deepest regrets,
Manik

Tears were constantly flowing from her eyes. Sitting by the window now, Nandini couldn't help but talk to herself, trying to make sense of her emotions.

"Why, Manik? Why did you have to ruin everything?" she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes. "I was so happy that day, so excited about our future. I had started to love you, and you destroyed it all with your anger."

She hugged her knees to her chest, feeling the weight of her heartbreak. "I can't just forget what happened. You hurt me so deeply. But seeing you every day, trying so hard to make things right... it's confusing. I can see that you've changed, that you're truly sorry, but the pain is still there."

Nandini looked out at the garden where Manik had danced, his eyes filled with sincerity and love. "I see your efforts, Manik. I see the way you look at me, the way you care for our baby. Part of me wants to believe you, to give you another chance. But I'm scared. Scared of getting hurt again."

She wiped away her tears, taking a deep breath. "I need to be strong, for myself and for our baby. I can't just let you back into my life without being sure. I need to protect my heart."

Nandini stood up, looking at her reflection in the mirror. "I'll watch you, Manik. I'll see if your actions match your words. But it won't be easy to earn my trust again. You've got a long way to go."

She turned away from the window, determined to focus on her well-being and her baby. The future was uncertain, but she knew one thing for sure – she wouldn't let herself be hurt again. She would be strong, for her sake and her child's. And maybe, just maybe, Manik would prove himself worthy of her trust.
