Waking up early in the morning lies on the top in the list of the most difficult tasks. Gladly, Shivaay Singh Oberoi was never the one to pine for sleeping till late and ranting 'five minutes more' thing.
But his Sweebit made him do things he had never done and this was no different. Sleep, with her in his arms felt like the most beautiful thing he had ever done. He wanted to stay where he was. So his plan to wake up at five and leave Trivedi Mansion flew above his head when he saw his Sweebit looking like a rosy cheeked baby while sleeping.
After that what he remembers was something cold seeping in his hair and then washing down his face. The cold liquid took his breath but he had better things to think about. The most important being, 'who did this to him?'
He could feel Anika's softness against him so his panika wasn't the one to do this. But if not Anika, who else?
His eyes flew open wide and what he enounters is a pair of narrowed eyes and a heavy, discontented frown of a man whom he respects a lot and who admired him like his son, until a few hours ago.
Rajveer kept the glass aside, from which he poured the water on this young man sleeping with his daughter in his arms. If anyone's wondering, why from a glass and not a whole lot of a jug or a bucket? Isn't it simple enough that he can't do this to his sweet little daughter? He had been extremely careful that the water touches only this man and not his baby.
Shivaay wished he could just shrink or disappear or just hide himself in a shell like a turtle. Wishful thinking!
He picked Anika's arm from his torso and tried getting up but she frowned and tightened her grip and shifted her face from his bicep to his chest.
At any other time, had they been alone, he would've crushed her in an even tighter grip and kissed her numerous times, but he was at a loss today. His official girl's father who was his unofficial to-be father-in-law, was throwing daggers at him.
"Leave my daughter and get up." Rajveer growled furiously yet in a low voice, not wanting to disturb his daughter and not to embarrass her too. Even if he has met her just yesterday he trusts his baby but the possessive father in him couldn't just let this young man go away without a good fight.
Shivaay somehow disentangled himself from his Sweebit and got up, only to fall again after getting tangled in the duvet. Why had he not made an iron grip on his feelings and got up the moment the clock struck five?
"Follow me."
Rajveer ordered and walked out of the room after giving one loving look to his daughter, to which Shivaay smiled. His Sweebit had her father with her now. His smile vanished seeing Rajveer staring at him, furiously.
Walking through the corridor, he thought about all the thoughts of him asking for Anika's hand from Rajveer. He hadn't certainly planned the kind of conversation he would have with him but having the said conversation in his nightclothes, at seven in the morning and without even brushing his teeth, was certainly not the plan.
But before he would tell him about his love, he has to tell him how did he meet Anika. As a father Rajveer had the right to know everything that his daughter had to face.
No. If anyone thinks he would leave Anika if Rajveer would want, then it's a big no. He would fight for his love. He would win Rajveer's heart and his trust and marry his love fulfilling every ritual.
They stepped into Rajveer's study room, and he gestured Shivaay to sit down and he stood in front of the chair Shivaay sat on. The blue eyed man looked like a scared little boy in front of his headmaster.
"What were you doing in my daughter's room, in her bed? How dare you? And do you think my security guards are fools who won't realise why and how did all of them fainted at the same time?"
Rajveer growled.
Shivaay searched for words to take the conversation to the topic he wants to. But Rajveer interpreted this silence on his own.
"If you're trying to play with my daughter's feelings..."
"DON'T." The fear and apprehension disappeared as someone pointed a finger on his love for her.
"Voh jaan hai meri. I understand your concern as a father but DO NOT question my love."
"Then what were you doing in her room? Early in the morning, or should I say whole night?"
"I- I- then what could I- we do? You b-brought her here without even letting me meet her once."
Shivaay said with a grumpy face but went silent with a glare from Rajveer and then inhaled deeply.
"I'll start from the beginning. But before that, I have a request. Please don't judge me from what I did. Just know that I love Swee- Anika very much. I love my family, my brothers, but what I feel for her is incomparable. I can't live without her. She's- she's my life."
Rajveer stayed silent and pulled a chair to sit in front of Shivaay's chair.
"It all started few months ago. We, I mean Dadi, Mom, I and Om and Rudra had always kept Prinku sheltered from Tej's deeds. But she got to know about him, she couldn't tolerate it. She- tried to commit suicide. I wanted to destroy the reason behind her misery. I had made sure Tej stay away from all those money minded women. But he somehow..."
Shivaay sighed. Thinking about that dreadful day still pinched his heart.
"The women whom Prinku saw was someone else but when I went to his farmhouse, I- I found Anika. He had kidnapped her."
They both loved Anika to no extent and the thought of Tej's intentions for her made their blood boil as they both fisted their hands tightly.
"My guard had informed me about a woman who helped him get- arrange different women everyday. When I found Anika in the farmhouse I thought she was the one and I- I married her forcefully, if you call rounds around a few burning pillows, a marriage. I wanted to punish her. I n- named her his m-mistress to.."
He couldn't say another word when his face jerked leftwards due to the full force of a tight slap. He was yanked out of his seat as Rajveer pulled him up from his collar.
"How could you do that? Before being my daughter she was a girl. How could you just believe anything, just like that?"
Rajveer pushed him away, making him bang into the sharp corner of his study desk.
"I know it was my fault. I just misinterpreted things, and my guard gave me a wrong information. It was my fault that I trusted a traitor. But trust me, uncle, I- I regret everything. I regret not investigating the matter myself, I regret hurting her. But I don't regret meeting her, I don't regret loving her. If I had a chance to change everything I would change the circumstances but never change the fact that I love her."
"I know as a father you can't trust me after knowing my disgusting deeds. But please don't separate me from my life. I'm ready to wait, to do anything you want me to, but I won't, and can't leave her. I just want a chance to prove my love for her. Just one chance."
"I want you to leave my house, right now." Rajveer said, looking out of the window, with his back turned on Shivaay.
"Okay, uncle. But I'm only leaving your house for now, not my life."
Shivaay said, and walked out of the study room. Even if the conversation and it's results had been disastrous, Shivaay felt as if a burden was lifted off his chest. He felt free. He no longer had the guilt of hiding the truth from Rajveer.
His steps halted in the middle of the stairs as he heard a gasp and turned to see his Sweebit standing on the top stair and looking around nervously. And then she ran downstairs to hold his hand in hers and dragged him to a quiet corner under the stairs before anyone could see them."
"Why didn't you leave yet?"
"I was going, Sweebit, but you you're holding me back. Missing me already."
No way he was going to tell her about the happenings of a few minutes ago. The best way to hide was to tease her. His favourite thing to do.
"Have you thought if papa found you here, early in the morning and in your night clothes, what would he think?"
Her question made his heart sink. Seeing her concern his loving heart melted like chocolate. Only if she knew her father had seen him already and in such a position that his gentleman status had gone down the drain.
"So what? Well, tell him that I came to meet my Sweebit. He would be so happy to have such a handsome son in-law."
"Get out of here before he comes here. He used to be a gym freak when he was young, he's still stronger than you. So go from here before he spoils your 'handsome' face."
"Ouch! You hurt me."
He pretended being hurt making her roll her eyes at his drama. Only if she knew, her father had already slapped his 'handsome' face!
"You play risky, Sweebit. But yes, for now your father is stronger, he has my life in his house."
Anika stared at him with such adoration in her eyes that made it difficult for him to leave. He stepped closer to her and placed a feathery kiss on her forehead and turned around to leave.
He felt her soft fingers engulfing his wrist and he stopped and turned to see her. The moisture in her eyes was barely noticeable but he noticed.
"What's the matter?"
He asked as he wrapped her in his protective embrace and she let her tears fall. His arms had a weird feel, making her feel vulnerable and protected at the same time.
"I feel scared."
He knew of what, but he asked.
"Why?"
Not getting a reply from her he sighed and pulled her apart to see her face, to look into her eyes.
"Don't you dare cry or feel sacred. I won't let you go away. I can fight the world for you, your father is just one person."
Anika cried more, feeling his love in those words. He knew her fears before she uttered them and that made her cry more.
"I don't want to choose one out of the two most important persons in my life."
She cried clutching his biceps in her grip and her head on his shoulder.
"You'll have to."
His words stunned her. If she didn't trust him so much she would've slapped him that instant. But she waited for him to say what he had not said yet.
"You'll have to choose who's stronger, my father in-law or I? You'll have to choose with whom you spend more time after our marriage. You'll have to choose if your father is more handsome or your husband? You'll have to choose of you love your husband more or your father, or our son. You'll have to choose who would you kiss first, me, your father or our son. You'll-"
She giggled as he denied to stop with his words. He was impossible. She relaxed in his arms and hugged him tightly, no one could've calmed her the way he did. No one could've assured her the way he did.
"Now don't you cry. Go and spend as much of your time with my sasur ji as you can, because I would make you my bride soon. And mind you, I'd be a very possessive husband."
He said and pecked her nose each time he said a line, making her blush and giggle at his stupidity. But she didn't feel that the line he said about possessiveness was wrong at all.
"Get out."
Anika said and giggled seeing his pout. She found it extremely adorable when a man like Shivaay, pouted. A man who was so possessive and had an alpha male kind of a personality, becomes a kid only for her and it makes her fall in love with him over and over again.
As he left, looking like a cat heading out of the kitchen, she wanted to run behind him and hug him tightly. But she had to consider the safety of his handsome face for now so she let him go.
She kept standing there, and smiling until she felt a hand on her shoulder. Looking behind, she found her father's gaze bent upon her. Her yes turned round in shock as well as fear. But gladly, her father had not seen her with Shivaay.
"Why are you standing here, baby?"
Anika sighed in relief and smiled, still nervous of being caught of her rendezvous with her love.
"I- I was trying to find my earring, papa. I can't find it any- anywhere."
Anika replied. Her father looked at her for a minute and then smiled. Taking her in a side hug he placed a loving kiss on the top of her head and walked her out of under the staircase.
"It's okay. We'll get another pair for you. Now, I want to talk to my princess."
Anika giggled at this as she remembered how much they had talked last night.
"What? I've missed so much in my life that I don't want to leave a single second that I can spend with you."
He said, caressing her cheeks. Anika looked at him from her teary eyes and hugged him.
"Shh.. , no. Don't cry, love. You're the only one I've after your mom. You're a part of her. Your eyes, your smile, your every habit reminds me of her. It makes me feel like I've never lost her. I feel like she's with me. And there's one more thing in you both. I can't see tears in your eyes too. So don't cry. Jaan ho tum meri."
Anika smiled a teary smile and hugged him more tightly. They walked towards the lawn and settled on the bench in the Gazebo.
Anika stayed in the hug and listened to the sweet chirpings of the sparrows until Rajveer broke the silence.
"Princess, do you have someone special in your life?"
