word was he'd beat her

sun up to sun down .. then some

she'd finally cracked

a loaded shotgun

she'd snatched .. shot him in the tub

pulled the trigger twice

after she'd called my mom

we were there in ten minutes

us kids in the car

waiting in the driveway

as mom walked out with the cops

kaye .. tight in handcuffs

more sad memories

one cop held .. bloody shotgun

they all shook their heads
