Chapter 86

Getting drunk didn’t take away his problems, but it did let him have a long night.

The first thing he felt was the cold breeze running inside his bedroom. The kind of breeze before it starts to rain. Then he felt it, his migraine. It was terrible. The pain was screeching every cell of his brain and he wished he could hit himself with a hammer. With that horrible pain, he flickered his eyes open. He was met with light darkness so he turned his head towards his window. It was an unusual morning where instead of the sun rising up to greet the world, it was the gray, upset clouds forming in the sky. He was glad it was weekend so he didn’t have to go office on a rainy day.

Seokjin winced in pain and slowly sat up on the bed. He held his forehead in his hands and massaged it a little, hoping to feel better. But no, his head was throbbing and his stomach felt weird. As if he drunk a lot last night. He remembered going to a bar and drinking so he took a mental note to make hangover soup for himself.

But wait...why was he naked? He usually didn’t sleep shirtless.

Looking down his toned body, his eyes found dark red, purple marks on his neck, the pain lingering still. He blinked his eyes confusedly. He touched his lips with his thumb and as the pain called, it burnt a little.

Then it all came to him. Like a jolt of lightening, he remembered the most horrible nightmare he lived last night and what he did. Instantly his headache increased in panic as well his body grew deadly tensed. Was it actually true? Were his memories deceiving him?

Right then, he froze hearing a familiar voice.

“You woke up.”

Slowly raising his eyes, he saw Jisoo in a white shirt only, standing in front of his door. No concern, no guilt, no emotions written on her face. She puzzled him honestly.

“Jisoo?” He called out her name just to make sure she was really here. She shouldn’t be here.

She walked inside and stood by the edge of the bed, crossing her arms. “I can't make hangover soup. Don't expect me to.”

Now that she was close, he scanned her from head to toe. Messy hair, swollen eyes, lips bruised, neck decorated with hickeys, legs shaking were all the signs he was begging not to happen. His mouth was parted open in shock, he was slowly beginning to tremble in fear.

He had sex with his ex-girlfriend. And he was married.

The sky fell on him as it seemed. He was shocked, slowly being disgusted at himself for committing a heinous crime. What the hell was wrong with him? First he hurt his wife, then he drunk to forget about it, and then he had sex? He must've lost his mind for sure. How could he do this? Just how?

“Seokjin?” Jisoo called him as if nothing happened.

He looked at her in panic and asked, “Did we...did we have...” He couldn’t even finish his sentence out of disgust.

There was a shy smile on her lips. She looked down and replied softly, “Yeah. It was great.”

Seokjin gasped openly in shock and groaned loudly. He slapped his cheeks and pulled his hair, then slapped himself again. Just how? How did he become like this? How much of a jerk did he have to be?

She got taken aback by his behaviour so she glanced at him confusedly. “Why, what's wrong?”

“What's wrong!?” He yelled at her this time, scaring her. “Jisoo! We had sex! We weren’t supposed to do that!” He yelled as if she was a kid and he needed to explain to her.

She blinked at him, still not getting it.

“Don't you understand? I'm married! I'm married to Yoon Min. But I had sex with you. I-I...Oh my God, what have I done...” His eyes were turning red.

Jisoo licked her lips, “So what? We don't have to tell her. She won't know.”

His head flicked to her direction in shock. How could she say that? Was she out of her mind?

“No, no, no. That's cheating. I cheated on her. She's my wife, but I-I slept with someone else. Oh no, this is horrible. I did this? How can I be so selfish and stupid? Oh God no...”

“Seokjin, you're overreacting. Chill, everyone does it.” She was so calm about this. Then he realized she was a celebrity. She must've slept around with tons of men like a child's play. It meant nothing to her.

He shook his head violently. He stood up from the bed and balanced himself as his head was dizzy. He didn’t know what to do. He just kept saying it was his fault and messed up so big. He still couldn’t believe he did this. He never thought he'll stoop this low someday.

“Where are you going?” Jisoo asked when he saw him leaving the bedroom, half-naked.

He didn’t answer her. He just ran out of the room and took the stairs. For a second, he wished he tripped and fell down the stairs. He walked down in a hurry and paced around the living room, thinking. He was trying to think but it was endless. He went in circle around the living room, just trying to think.

Jisoo got downstairs by then and stared at him. She tried to figure him out. But once she realized he was acting crazy, she walked to him and stopped him by placing her hands over his shoulders. He looked into her eyes in shock.

“Stop it. Calm down.” She sounded upset.

Seokjin pushed her hands away. “Don't touch me, Jisoo!”

“I don't understand what's gotten into you. What's so wrong we slept together? Everyone does it these days. It doesn’t even matter. You don't love me. You still love her, you'll always have her in your heart. So what's so wrong?!”

He sighed at her outburst. He himself had no idea how to make himself calm down. He felt like he murdered a person. No, a lot of people. He was feeling like he murdered a family and was running away. Instead of turning himself in, he was escaping. His heart was stabbed by his own demonic side.

Not bothering to answer her, he paced around the room again in endless worries. He asked hundreds of questions to himself. Did he really do it? Why did he do it? How will he tell Yoon Min? Why was he even alive? How will she react? Should he ask for her forgiveness? Will that fix everything?

He could hear the clouds rumbling outside, rain about to fall. The nature was upset at him too. What he did was considered to be one of the greatest sins in human history. He didn’t know how he managed to do that. He grew up as a good man with a moral character. Just how was this possible?

Jisoo yelled, “Stop worrying. Nothing's gonna happen. She doesn’t know.”

“It's about trust!” He shouted at her like an animal. “It's about the trust we had. She trusted me more than her own life. Do you realize what I did, I broke that trust!”

She was silent when he shouted at her so angrily. She was scared of him. Her face turned pale.

“All Yoon Min ever told me was maintain the love and trust of our relationship. She said if we do that, everything will be possible. And she did. She always trusted me, loved me so much. But look at me.” He took a vase and threw it across the room. “Look what I did! I betrayed her! I betrayed her blind trust.”

Jisoo tried to calm him, “She won't know, Seokjin. That way, your trust won't--”

“No!” He roared at her. “Stop talking. Stop talking to me, stop filling my head with nasty ideas. Stop telling me to act like a bastard!”

Seokjin was officially gone mad and tempered that he started to break things around them. Noises of things being scattered and his ferocious growls were terrifying Jisoo so at one point, she screamed at the top of her lungs.

“You know what your problem is, Seokjin?” She walked to him and punched his chest. “We don't have to tell your wife. She won't know anything. Problem solved! You get to have your happily ever after with her. But no! You don't want that. You gotta tell her, and ruin everything! I mean seriously what is wrong with you?”

As much as he wanted to kill her right now, he waited for her to finish her speech.

“Trust...Love...they don't exist. We live in a selfish world. Those feelings only reside in stories. You get what I'm saying? Trust is meant to be betrayed, promises are meant to be broken and love is bound to be destroyed. Your so-called trust your wife had in you was meant to be broken sooner or later. So just accept what you did and face it!” Her eyes were spitting rage.

Seokjin threw the remote he had in his hand, startling her. Now he stood over her in a dominating posture as if suddenly he was a hideous monster and she was just a harmless child. He stared into her eyes, shooting daggers straight in the heart.

“Listen to me, Kim Jisoo.” His voice was never so scary and cold. “You do not have any single right to lecture me about trust and love. You're so lucky right now that I haven’t gone to the kitchen and killed you with a knife. Because believe me, I really want to do that. It happened because of you. Do you think I don't remember? You kissed me first. You kissed me, knowing you shouldn’t! You took adavantage of a drunken man!”

Jisoo quickly lowered her gaze to the floor, unable to meet his rage.

“You will never realize the beauty of love because no one can ever love your characterless, nosy, arrogant personality. No one! So get the hell out of my house and don't show your face to me ever. Because I might kill you.” He let out a silent growl.

She raised her eyes to face him and muttered, “How dare you!? How dare you say that to me? You take--”

Right that second, both of them heard a sound at the door. Something dropped on the floor, causing a thud sound. And that made both of them freeze in their place. Like stone, like ice.

Seokjin was back facing the door so obviously he couldn’t see who was there. But since Jisoo was facing him, she could clearly see who was standing there. And the way her eyes widened in fear, her lips parted a little, and the way her eyes couldn’t stop staring at the door, he didn’t have to take a guess. Because he knew his world came to an end.

Heart beating faster in anxiety and fear, he tightened his fists, eyes closing as a gesture of wanting to escape. The silence in the house was bone-chilling. With a little courage and as a tear fell down, he slowly turned around until his eyes fell on the person he never wanted to be here.

Yoon Min...she was standing there at the door, bloodshot eyes spilling tears and heart crumbling into little pieces.

And that moment, Seokjin knew he lost. He lost the meaning of his life, the light of his darkness, the rest place of his mind, the love of his life. He knew he lost her and nothing in the world could bring her back. His heart shattered as realization hit him.

She was standing there the whole time they were fighting.
