Chapter 2- Triggernometry

Heloooooo! here's the next chapter, ready to read! hope you all like it (:

***

It had only been in maths for five minutes so far, yet it felt like I had been stuck here for centuries! It could be the fact that I fucking HATE maths, or the fact that Caden hadn't stop staring at me! every so often he would look at me, then go back to listening to Mr Brown go on about who knows what, and at that moment I would glance at him, then the cycle would repeat itself. I thought for sure that this is what it would be like until the bell, but no, instead a new freaking problem came waltzing into the classroom, literally.

The door came crashing open, and in the entry stood no other than our school's golden boy, Zero Lake. I'm not gonna lie, the guy was VERY cliché. The typical popular high schooler. Fit, tall, Good looking, with dark blond hair, grey eyes and that cocky grin that all popular guys do. He was captain of the basketball and football team, and almost always the centre of attention, plus he was "Dating" my sister at this current time, and I ABSOLUTELY hated him! He had NO respect for anyone else, he'd date a girl for a week then dump her when he got bored before running off to find someone new and exciting, and I mean, who calls their kid zero? ZERO is a number NOT a name! how STUPID were his parents? Actually, I had met his mum before at the school bake day and she was actually a really nice lady with a warm personality compared to his mean, horrible, bully personality. God, HOW COULD PEOPLE STAND HIM?

"Sorry I"m late sir" Zero mumbled as a few of the girls gave him googly eyes while giggling amongst themselves, UGH! Why were girls so interested in these sorts of guys and not guys like me?

"That"s okay" Mr Brown waved it off "It's the first day, where you lost my boy?"

"Uhh- no" Zero answered, before flicking his hair back just like he did all the FREAKING time. "I lost my algebra book sir"

WHAT? First my sister then this loser? Jesus, did anyone have their algebra books in this school?

"Oh well that's understandable" Mr Brown chuckled "Go sit next to someone who has a book- ah" I froze as I felt everyone turn back to me, But as I actually looked up I saw Mr Brown looking at me.

WHY WAS MR PEAR ALWAYS PICKING ON ME?

"What was your name again boy? He asked.

"R-Riley Cain sir" I stammered.

"Well, then Zero," Mr Brown said smiling "Why not go sit down next to Mr Cain, you could even meet the new student sitting next to him" At Mr Brown's words, Zero turned to Caden and his mouth fell open in shock as his eyes widened.

"The- new kid?" Zero repeated "Is that- the new kid?" a few people around the classroom sniggered as Zero scowled at them. I guess Zero wasn't used to seeing gay guys. With a sigh, Zero walked down the aisle over to me and slowly sat down in the seat on the right of me as he continued staring at Caden the entire time with something of a scow, while Caden merely smiled back as I sat between the two feeling Awkward and miserable, really? Could things get any worse than THIS?

"Let me look at your book" Zero practically yanked the algebra book out of my hands and began reading the text slowly so his stupid brain would understand what to do. I felt like yanking the book right back and telling him to get lost, but the consequences of that after class would be undesirable and would probably end with me beaten up and locked inside some closet.

JUST LIKE LAST YEAR.

"Here" Caden's voice ran out in my ear as I shot around to face him.

"What?" I demand, but as I looked down I saw that he had pushed his algebra book to the side of his desk so I could read it alongside him.

"Oh, thanks" I quickly murmured back while blushing ever so slightly- because of the heat! YES, that was why I was blushing, I was hot.

As the class continued on we began to learn about some shit called trigonometry which seemed ironic because all these equations were REALLY triggering me. I couldn't understand any of it, I HATED maths so much! Why couldn't they just get rid of the subject, it was useless and made me feel depressed!

"Stupid Trigonometry" I realised I had said this out loud and when I turned back to Caden I could see him grinning at me, his aqua blue eyes shining as his freckles seemed to light up his face, just looking at him made something inside me stir- my stomach probably, all I had eaten today were those yucky pancakes, I needed to eat something tasty at recess.

"You don't like maths huh?" Caden said with a smile, his accent was so strange, yet I really loved it in an odd way...

"Maths is USELESS!" I rolled my eyes "I mean, what are you going to use it for? I don't want a job that involves maths remotely so why should I have to do it?" and it was true! If I ever became prime minister, I would BAN maths completely!

"I can help you with some of the equations if you're stuck on them' Caden said sincerely "That is if you want me to"

I felt my body stiffen as Caden looked deeply into my eyes. Uh, what was he doing? Wait, was he hitting on me? Oh god did he think I was gay? as I turned to my left I could see Zero watching us with wide eyes, oh no, I couldn't make it look like I was gay in front of the school's bully, he'd tell everyone else and then I'd be in a very, VERY TERRIBLE SITUATION. Unfortunately, quite a few people here were Homophobic, so yeah.

"Ohthatwouldbenicethanksireallydoneedsomehelp" I said all at once before I could think. Thanks a lot, verbal diarrhoea.

Both boys on either side of me stared in surprise as I laughed awkwardly. Although I was trying to calm the situation down, it only seemed to be getting worse. "W-what I meant to say is yes I would like some help," I said, taking breaks between each word this time.

Caden let out a chuckle, but before he could speak, Zero"s voice cut in.

"Can you shut up Rainbow boy?" he snarled "Some of us are trying to work!" I turned to Zero as I stared at him in shock. Was this seriously coming from the dumb Jock who forgot how to spell orange in year eight? He was no better at maths then ME!

"Work? That"s ironic coming from YOU!" I snapped back before I could think. Zero narrowed his eyes at me as his face suddenly seemed to become darker, that was a bad move, Riley. A very bad move.

"What?" Zero responded with a very icy tone.

"N-nothing" I responded quickly as I began to blush "Now if you excuse me- I'm going to go back to doing my maths so I don't fail and get a detention from Mr Pear- I- I mean MR BROWN! thank you, that's what I meant" I rambled before shutting my mouth. God, I felt so stupid and foolish. I just had to shut up before I dug myself into a deeper hole.

I quickly turned back to the algebra book and saw Caden watching me silently. His expression still as his eyes studied me. I didn't know how a gay dude could act the way he did. I didn't know gay guys could actually be as muscular or heterosexual-looking as Caden did. He really did look like he would fit in with the rest of the football players in our school- hay, perhaps he would. But there was something about him that made me feel- different. An odd feeling I hadn't really had before- Fear? No, I was scared constantly. Confusion? Nope, I was constantly confused. What was it? What was It that Caden was making me feel?

We spent the next half an hour reading and writing down the questions in our books, and let me tell you. It was AWKWARD AS HELL!

Every so often Caden would glance over at me or Zero, before going to work before we noticed and Zero would do the same thing. Then when I went to look, both of them looked up and all three of us sat staring at each other, too awkward to speak. I mean, I know maths is torture, BUT THIS WAS WAY BEYOND WHAT I HAD EXPECTED! But the awkward tension between us died as Caden lifted his muscular arm into the air.

"Sir," he said, "Can I please go to the bathroom?"

"Of course, please go ahead" Mr Brown mumbled as he leaned back in his chair, reading a large book on- maths. Wow did this pear man actually have nothing else to do in his life besides reading math?

Caden slid out of his seat and with a quick glance back at me, walked towards the door and out of the classroom, leaving me alone with the really dumb and annoying bully besides me. I sighed in frustration and went back to trying to figure out what the hell all this math nonsense meant until I felt a tap on my shoulder. OH GREAT.

I turned around sharply to come face to face with Zero who stared at me with a very serious expression.

"What?" I demanded. Throwing my pencil down.

"The dude likes you," Zero said plain and simple as he looked into my eyes "Caden, he's got the hots for you bro" the hots? What? What the HELL did that even mean? Sure he was gay, but saying that a gay guy likes every man he sees is a bit Stereotypical isn't it? But perhaps Zero was right, if Caden did like me I should just remind him I'm straight and everything will be okay. While I had been thinking this, however, I had continued on staring right at Zero until he snapped his fingers RIGHT in my face.

"What are you looking at, Homo" Zero shot at me with a very uncomforting glare.

"Not you" I responded crossing my arms together and huffing "And stop calling me a homo, I am not gay!"

"Uh, yeah you are, why do people call you Rainbow boy then?"

"Because your stupid friend Brittny the bimbo made it up in primary school!" I yelled the last part which earnt me several stares from my classmates, "Sorry" I added as I quickly toned my voice down. I turned back to Zero, who looked at me with a look of disgust.

"I saw the way you were looking at him" Zero continued coolly "I swear I saw you lick your lips you disgusting freak!"

"I AM NOT A FREAK!" I silently screamed "And I could say the same thing about you! You were watching him with an odd expression too!"

"An expression of disgust" Zero responded coldly "It"s what people do when they see something that makes them want to be sick- like you"

I clenched my teeth together in anger. HOW DID PEOPLE STAND THIS GUY! seriously? He was a stupid sexist, homophobic Jerk! My parents hated people like Zero so there was no way in a million years my mum would let Alexis marry someone like him, she was bound to give Zero a good woopin' if she ever learnt of some of the stuff he said!

"You know what Zero? You"re a STUPID JERK!" I responded in frustration "Your just some dumb popular football player that probably won"t have a future or job and you'll probably go die in a box or a dumpster or something that's DISGUSTING AND UNPLEASANT, JUST LIKE YOU!"

As I finished my silent rant, I saw the two girls in front of us staring in complete shock, one covering her mouth. I had expected Zero to punch me at least, but he just stared at me with an extremely uncomfortable glare.

"Why don't you go suck your new boyfriend off in the bathroom faggot" he growled before going back to the algebra book.

I felt my face go hot with rage. This dickhead had gone WAY over the line now. I was a supporter of the LGBTQ group or whatever even if I wasn't part of it and I absolutely hated that word, it was disgusting and rude and should only be used for CIGARETTES! I decided to just ignore Zero, if he wanted a response from me then he wasn't going to get one.

I slumped down in my chair with my chin on the desk as I twirled my pencil around, feeling miserable and sad, Then the classroom door opened and Caden was there. He grinned at me as he swaggered over and hopped down beside me, it was strange though. At that moment it was as if the misery I had been feeling just disappeared and I felt happy again, did Caden have some kind of- happy bubble that made you happy when you saw him? Well, whatever it was- it had definitely lifted my spirits.

"You're backkkkkk" I hopped up in my seat as Caden smiled at me "That was pretty quick"

"Eh, there"s a bathroom right across the hallway" Caden shrugged as he scribbled something down in his book before closing it "...And done" he sighed.

DONE? Already? I looked down at my book to see I was still on question 9 out of- 20! and there were only ten minutes of class left! how had I only done 9 questions in thirty minutes, was I really that dumb? God, I didn't want extra homework on my first day! I groaned as I grabbed my pencil and began mindlessly scribbling down numbers and words to make it look like I had been trying to work out the answers. Caden turned to me and chuckled.

"Need some help buddy?" he asked.

"Oh yes please!" I exclaimed "I SUCK at this"

"I can see," Caden said as he pulled my worksheet over "I can do 'em for you if you want" quickly, I glanced over to see that Mr Brown was still reading his math book, I doubt he'd even notice if we left the class.

"Okay sure," I said as Caden began scribbling down on my page "Thanks"

"No problem" Caden responded with a grin and I couldn't help but smile back. Caden was actually a pretty nice guy, but I remembered back to what Alexis had said. Did he really rape someone? I had decided that the murder part was definitely made up, but the rape? I couldn't imagine him doing that- I just couldn't.

I saw Zero scowling at Caden and so I spat my tong out at him, causing him to clench his fists. Whoops, I should really stop pissing him off now. Caden zoomed through the questions and handed it back moments before the bell rung, Finally! MATHS WAS OVER!

I quickly packed up my belongings until I felt a looming presence behind me.

"You better watch yourself this year Rainbow boy" Zero said through gritted teeth "I was nice last year, but things are gonna be different from now on" and with that Zero walked past me, bumping me hard in the shoulder while eyeing Caden coldly I watched silently as he left the classroom before I let out a sigh. Caden watched me with a silent expression.

"School bully huh?" Caden said as I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Yeah" I responded with a shrug "Zero's a dick but not as much of a bully actually. His friends are a lot worse, especially Francis Smit, watch out for him, he's... HOMOPHOBIC" I blurted out. Before I could even think of what to say.

The girls in front of us both turned around and gave me another completely bewildered stare before hurrying off out of class, while Caden just smirked "So you've heard the rumours too" he said.

"Rumours?, uh what Rumours? I definitely haven't heard any Rumours about you..." ugh! Stupid brain, I was never like this unless I was under pressure, but Caden wasn't putting me under any sort of pressure, so why was I acting so- weird?

"Well Rumours aren't always true," Caden said as he began to walk to the door as I followed behind him, unsure on what to say or even if I should be following him.

"Well," I said slowly, "Is the part about you being gay- true?" Oh god, WHY was I asking him that?

Caden just smirked as we both came out of the classroom and into the busy hallway. "What do you have now?" he asked, completely dodging my question.

"Well, usually on a Monday I'd have study now I think, but since it's the first day we have assembly in the gym" yeah, the gym. My school was povo. Even with rich parents my mother and father were still cheapskates that saved up their money by sending us to this deadbeat place.

"Assembly huh?" Caden crossed his arms with a smile "Mind showing me where to go?"

"Sure" I shrugged, Caden beamed and threw his arm around my neck, his touch causing my entire body to tense up, but why? I narrowed my thoughts on why I was suddenly so sensitive- maybe it was because I liked Caden- AS A FRIEND! yes as a friend, obviously. I shrugged it off. Maybe all this was some experience you get on your sixteen birthday and it would be gone tomorrow, yes I finally agreed. Tomorrow I'll feel normal again.

"You know what" Caden said as I turned to look at the slightly taller boy who looked right into my eyes "I think I like you"
