Starman
A/N: I suggest listening to the song, Starman by David Bowie. Just the vibes kind of inspired me to make this one~shot
Also major character death mentioned here
Cold...
That's how he felt after his lungs filled up with water and his vision went black after hitting his head on the ceiling of the den before sinking. The last thing he remembers was getting Lilytail out of there. He foresaw this coming and yet, not even Starclan could predict his death.
Still, his death didn't go quickly. In fact, drowning is one of the worst ways to go. Water, which is mostly supposed to be a good thing for one's body, filled up areas where water wasn't necessary and the lack of oxygen didn't help either. No matter how much he flailed, he couldn't get enough air to breathe. Eventually...he let go.
The next parts were a blur and thinking back on it, it didn't make much sense. In fact, he can't really remember much of it. A dark brown she-cat with blue-grey eyes and had a short, cut off tail appeared to him, her pelt swirling with stars. She looked at him with sadness in her eyes.
Her voice was a whisper but he could hear her clearly as if she was speaking closely to his ears. "You have been chosen for a second chance." He would eventually forget about this as he faded away.
Next, he would see a blur of a cat who was murmuring something. He couldn't hear nor see her. He couldn't even move around. He just stayed close as the cat curled what seemed like their tail around them. The cat then disappeared after a couple of days and he was left to fend for himself. He found himself wailing like a kit because he was hungry. He got fed a couple of times but it wasn't fully enough for a cat...a kit really.
Eventually, he was wandering around an area that smelled of cats and the ferns rustled. He turned around to see a black she-cat with green eyes. She dropped some herbs that she was carrying as she looked at him. "A kit? Out here, by himself?" She asked and she sounded familiar. What was her name? Lily...Lily...oh Lilytail! He thought and stumbled over to her.
He wasn't sure why he knew her name, after he never met her before...right? Lilytail guided him towards a camp filled with different types of cats, some with some familiar smells but why were they so familiar to him?
"Cherryclover!" Lilytail called out to an unfamiliar name and a gray tabby queen poked her head out of an area that smelled of milk and comfort. "A kit?" Cherryclover noted. "Yes, since you're the only queen, I need you to take care of him. I know you still have enough milk since Duckkit is two moons and Webkit has already begun to eat solid food. This little guy needs it," Lilytail told her. "I'm on it," Cherryclover got out of the nursery and carried the kit by the scruff. Lilytail watched until they were out of sight before leaving for the medicine cat den.
Why does he seem so familiar? He's only a 1 moon old kit so I never met him before? She thought as she placed away the herbs that she had gotten. Meanwhile, Cherryclover placed the kit next to Duckkit before getting into the nest herself. Duckkit was sleeping so the kit could eat without any distractions since he clearly needed milk.
After he was done, the kit curled up beside Cherryclover and fell asleep. It's been a long day and the memory of who he once was was slowly fading for new memories but have not been forgotten.

"Melodickit! Lilytail told us not to play Toss the mouse!" Webkit hissed as he stomped over to his den mate. "But Webkit! It's so much fun!" Melodickit whined and tossed the mouse, (that has seen better days) towards him. "But she says it's wasteful. Let's play another game," Webkit told him. "Fine, but I choose what we play," Melodickit said.
"Ok," Webkit nodded. When Melodickit woke up, there were two things that he noticed. One, he was given the name Melodickit by Lilytail and two, a small black kit with a fluffy tail was watching him. That kit being Webkit. They seemed to hit it off surprisingly well despite Melodickit accidentally head butting him when he saw that Webkit was watching him out of surprise. How he managed to do that when Webkit was in another nest and not even close, we'll never know.
"Can I play?" Duckkit ran up to them. Duckkit was another den mate of Melodickit and they also hit it off surprisingly well. "Sure, we can play mossball together!" Melodickit jumped up and down. "What's mossball?" Duckkit asked and even Webkit seemed confused. "It's a game where we toss a ball of moss in the air and bat it around. We try not to have the ball touch the ground though," Melodickit explained.
"Ohhhhh! Sounds like fun!" Duckkit jumped up and down happily. "Sure, why not. But where are we going to get the moss from?" Webkit looked around. "I think I know where," Melodickit showed them a couple of low hanging branches with some moss on them. He tried reaching for them but due to his short legs, he couldn't.
"How are we able to play mossball now?" Duckkit wailed. Then...their savior came by.
"Oh heya kits. Need help?" A white and tabby she-cat with amber eyes appeared. Sadiesong, Melodickit thought, even though he had never met her before. Why does he know her name? "Yes, we wanna play mossball but we can't reach," Duckkit explained. "Don't worry, hun. I'll get the moss for ya," Sadiesong reached over and got the moss with her claws. She dropped it and Webkit immediately made a ball with his. Sadiesong got down and purred at the kits who simultaneously said thank you to her. "Happy to help!" She then walked off.
"Let's play now!" Melodickit cheered. "Hold up," Webkit whined before tossing the ball in the air. Both Duckkit and Melodickit squeaked with excitement and batted the ball in the air so it wouldn't fall on the ground. Webkit chased after them.
Lilytail watched them from the medicine cat den, specifically on Webkit and Melodickit. Webkit had asked her previously about the herbs in her den and looked genuinely interested in what she was doing. A future apprentice maybe? But also, there was just something that she couldn't quite grasp about Melodickit. For some reason...the kit reminded her of her old mentor, Firesong.
There was just this vibe from the kit that reminded her of him. But that's impossible since Firesong died...right? He's in Starclan...right? She made a mental note to look for him once she shares tongues with Starclan again. Maybe she'll get answers there.
A/N: this is just my interpretation really. Just something for fun, maybe a character study but idk.
