Chapter 14
A/N: Introducing Priyanka Chopra as Diana Kaur. (Because I love her too much. And no, I didn't name her character after her dog. I named her after Wonder Woman. And trust me, jokes will be played, teasing will happen and references will be made.)
More ootds!!! And if you can recall, Arjun Desai is played by the very talented and good looking Sidhant Gupta...
This chapter dives a little bit more into Kabir's mysterious past and a bit of Sunny and Ayesha romance. I actually considered writing a prequel to this but focused on Sunny and Ayesha. They get too little time here and in my mind I actually have quite a love story for them. Should I? Should I not? Let me know in the comments...
Story time!!! I hope you enjoy this chapter...☺

The normal 20 minutes journey ended up being 45 minutes long and during the entire ride, neither of them said a word. Kabir paid the taxi and quickly waved him off. Kabir then lets out a sigh of relief.
"We're never doing that again," Kabir said in his normal accent.
"Kyun?" (Why?) Raina mocked. "Thak gaya kya?" (Are you tired?)
"In your dreams," he replied. "I can do this all day."
Raina had to stifle a chuckle.
The both of them then shifted their attention to the boutique behind them. Raina gasped. She had imagined the boutique to be a small shop house amongst other shops. Instead, what greeted her was a grand five storey stand alone building.
"Welcome to Seema's Boutique," Kabir stated. "Well, this one's more of an emporium than a boutique."
"This one?" Raina asked. There's more than one?
Kabir laughed.
"Duh," he said. Raina didn't realize she had vocalized her thoughts. "I'm surprised you've never heard about it. But then again, you're angrez (English)."
Raina huffed.
"So what if I'm angrez (English)?" Raina scolded him. "At least, I try."
Kabir smirked.
"Whatever chasmish (Specky)," he said and he led her in.
The moment they entered the shop, Raina could only gape at the selections. There were traditional clothing, casual wear, dinner dresses formal wear, tuxedos... It even had a small tailor at one end of the ground floor.
Suddenly, a ball of flurry appeared out of nowhere and tackled Kabir. She tensed up. They were caught.
However, instead of prying off the person off, Kabir slung his hand around.
"Arre Di," Kabir said with a smile. "Aap yahan kya kar rahe hoon? (What are you doing here?)"
Apparently, Kabir knew this person.
"Official business," Di replied. "I see you've brought a friend."
"Oh haan (Oh yes)," Kabir said, suddenly remembering Raina. "Di, this is Dr. Raina Jaitley, and Raina this is Di. I can't remember her full name. I've always just called her Di. Or, Wonder Woman. She's awesome at what she does."
"And because Sunny never fails to remind me that my name is Diana," she reminded him. She then turned her attention to Raina. "Hi, I'm Diana Kaur but everyone calls me Di. Nice to meet you, Dr. Raina Jaitley."
"Just Raina will do," she replied. "It's a nice place you got here."
"I wish," Di snorted. "I'm just a simple, mamuli nauker (insignificant worker). Your boyfriend, on the other hand..."
Kabir rolls his eyes. Not again.
"Kabir's not my boyfriend," Raina clarified. "He's just a friend."
"Oh," Di exclaimed. "Sorry. So, what brings the both of you here?"
Kabir explained everything to Di only to earn a smack to the back of the head. What's with women and their love for physically attacking him?
"I never knew you could be so cruel, Kabir," Di reprimanded. "You're lucky I'm here instead of Seema. She would have murdered you."
Kabir scoffed.
"As if I'm scared of her," Kabir told Di.
"We'll see about that," Di replied. "In the meantime, I'll see what I can do for Raina."
The two girls dissappeared into the boutique leaving Kabir alone by the door.
He wandered around the place, bored out of his wits. Kabir had never really enjoyed shopping, even for himself. He's happy his sister had inherited their mother's good taste in clothes and does all the shopping for him. Suddenly, his phone rang. Ayesha. Speak of the devil...
"Hello?" Kabir spoke into the phone.
"Kaha hai tu? (Where are you?) Sunny and I have been looking all over for you."
He could sense the tension and worry in her voice.
"I'm shopping at Seema's with Raina," he replied. "She's staying throughout the wedding."
"Kya? (What?) I thought she had work?"
"Work cancel," he told her. "Her boss practically gave her the week off. I just had to work my Kabir magic and... Ta-da."
"Where is she staying?"
"With me," he replied. Kabir winced and braced himself for the lecture.
"Tum dono ke beech mein kuch chal raha hai kya?" (Is there something going on between the both of you?)
Kabir wanted to smack the next person who said that. Can't a guy and a girl just be friends?
"Nahi yaar! (No!) " Kabir practically shouted into the phone. "Woh mere therapist! (She's my therapist) What's wrong with you people?"
"Calm down, Kabir! Itni hyper kyun ho? But sun, she'll make quite a nice bhabhi. Thoda zyada angrezi hai but other than that, she's awesome. (Why are you so hyper? But listen, she'll make quite a nice sister-in-law. A little bit too English but other than that, she's awesome) Maa would approve too."
"Ayesha," Kabir said in a threatening tone. "I'm warning you. You can joke with me about this but don't let Raina catch you. Agar woh bhag jayegi (If she runs away), you can kiss yours and Sunny's plan of rehabilitating me goodbye."
"Ooo... Possessive. But alas, that's not what I called you for. I called to tell you that your nemesis is also attending the wedding. Or rather, you nemesis and his khandan (family)."
"Wait," Kabir said in shock. "You're telling me, that you don't mind Raina and I sharing a room?"
"As long as she doesn't break your heart or suddenly have a mini-Kabir running around in nine months, I'm fine with it. One of you is enough, a mini Raina, however, I don't mind."
"Ayesha," Kabir warned. "Fine. Maybe I'll send her to stay with Di. They seem to have hit it off right away."
"That's also a good idea. Then maybe I can join them and have a slumber party."
"And what about your husband?" Kabir said laughing. "Bechaara. (Poor thing.)"
"He and I have another 7 janam (lifetimes) to enjoy each other's company. Besides, he's such a dork that he'll fit right in with us girls."
"Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?" Kabir joked. "I shouldn't have let him marry you if I knew this would happen."
"Hum bhaagke shaadi karenge! (We'll elope!)" Ayesha laughed. "I'm surprised you're not worried about your nemesis."
"Which nemesis are you talking about?" Kabir asked. He thought had already faced his biggest nemesis - Vishal.
At that moment, Raina re-appeared. He heard Ayesha say a name but was distracted by Raina's presence.
"Ayesha," he spoke into the phone. "Hold on for a minute." He then turned his attention to Raina. "Kya hua?" (What happened?)
"Woh," (That) Raina told him. "Di's calling you."
"I'll call you back later," Kabir told Ayesha and disconnected the call. He then let Raina show him the way.
In the meantime, Ayesha was worried sick for Kabir. Did he know they were coming? Was he ready to face his past he tried so badly to run away from? She sighed.
Sunny came up behind her and snaked his arms around her waist.
"Itni tension kyun ho?" (Why are you so tensed?) Sunny asked as he placed his chin on her shoulder.
"I'm worried about Kabir," she replied. "What happens if they meet? Meeting Vishal is one thing but..."
"Don't worry about them," he said, cutting her short. "Just try to enjoy the party. And speaking of party, where's Kabir? I thought he'll take this opportunity to get drunk."
"He's out shopping with Dr. Raina," she told him. "Apparently, she's staying. Pata nahi Kabir ne use kya kiya? (I don't know what Kabir did to her.)"
"Dr. Raina's here?" Sunny stated more than asked, shocked. "I thought you two were joking. Aur (And) shopping? I thought Kabir hated shopping."
"She's the only person who can get through to Kabir," she said with a sigh. "He's been through too much to listen to anyone else. I honestly don't know what's their relationship anymore. I know she's his therapist but don't you think un dono bohot zyada close? (Both of them are overly close?)"
"Ayesha," Sunny replied. "You're reading into things too much. Kya ladka aur ladki dost nahi ban sakte?" (Can't guys and girls be friends?)
Ayesha laugh.
"Says the one who married his friend," she mused.
"Excuse me," Sunny defended himself. "I was Kabir's best friend before I met you. You're more of my best friend ki annoying behen. (Best friend's annoying sister.)"
"Acha? (Really?)" Ayesha said as she turned around to face him. He let go of her instantly and backed away a few steps. "So that's what I was."
Sunny braced himself for a slow and painful death. He should not have said that.
"I didn't mean it that way," he explained. "Kabir was the only one among us that had a female sibling. It's inevitable that if you spend a lot of time with a person, feelings will tend to develop."
"I don't see you developing affection for Tara or Di," she stated, matter of factly. "And I don't see Vishal pining over me."
"Firstly, I didn't stand a chance with Tara," he told her. "She was always Kabir's girl. And I sort of hated her when Kabir bunked our plans to spend time with her. And Di? Seriously? Haan, hot hai, sexy hai but it's weird, you know? (Yes, she's hot, she's sexy but it's weird, you know?) She's like... She treats all of us like kids. But you... You're different. You stepped in when Kabir bunked, you weren't afraid to get rough and messy with us boys, you joined us on our crazy escapades when for a fact you know it's nothing but trouble, you cared for the whole band and not just Kabir... I admit that I was quite an idiot back then. I mean, look at you! You're practically a girl after my heart." He enveloped her in a tight embrace. "But most importantly, we're married. Toh (So) like it or not, you're stuck with me for the next 7 lifetimes. No one would ever stand a chance."
"Nice save," she told him as she playfully smacked him across his chess. "Now let me go before someone sees us."
"Why?" Sunny pouted. "I'm your husband. It's my right to be romantic."
"Romantic bhi sahi waqt aur jagha pe hai," (There should be an appropriate time and place to be romantic) she retorted as she tried squirming out of his grip.
"I don't care," he replied.
Before anyone of them could say another word, a familiar voice called out to them.
"Didi? Jiju?" (Sister? Brother-in-law?)
Sunny let's out a sigh as he slumped on Ayesha's shoulders. Ayesha peeked around Sunny only to see the person Kabir hated the most.
Arjun Desai.
***
A/N: So, who is this Arjun Desai and why did he just called Ayesha didi and Sunny jiju? Does that mean... I'll leave it to your imagination??? Yes!!! XD
I know I'm evil but you've probably figured it out. And if you have, don't spoil it for others. Let them suffer a slow, painful and suspenseful death until I reveal it... You can PM me for answers but I may or may not reply with a smiley face...
Till next time...
