Chapter 3: Mysterious Marcus

Bree's POV

I woke up to see that I was alone. Which didn't surprise me knowing that Chase hates me with a burning passion. When I got up from the couch a blanket fell off of me to the floor.

I looked back at the couch to see that my jacket was neatly folded on top of my bag, which was on an office chair. I grabbed my bag, and went to the bathroom to Chase's bathroom to change. When I got in I grabbed out my phone to see that my best friend Annie texted me.

'Hey, I heard you skipped town! Why didn't you take me with you :P'

I missed her the most. She was my only friend. A tear slid down my face as I locked the phone. I knew that I had the future to think about, but the past was the only thing I could ever think about lately. Everything just happened so fast. Trying to push away the thoughts,

I put my phone away and changed into a gray tank top with a blush colored scarf, and some jean shorts.

When I came out of the bathroom, I went into the living room to see Chase passed out on his recliner. I smiled at how handsome he was even while sleeping. People say that when a person is asleep they look 'youthful', but that wasn't the same for Chase. If anything he looked more distinguished and mature than he usually did while he was asleep. If only that were the case when he was awake.

He stirred a little bit in his sleep, so I turned away, afraid he would wake. When I did my nose caught the familiar scent of bacon. I ran toward the kitchen excitedly. With everything that had happened yesterday, I didn't realize how hungry I was.

When I entered the kitchen, which was next door to the living room, I found someone at the stove. I was startled for a second, because I thought it might be Leo or Adam, but it was someone else. "This must be Marcus", I thought to myself. He was singing N Sync 'Bye Bye Bye'. I had to hold in a giggle, so I wouldn't alert him to my presence. This seemed like a private moment.

However it was too late; he whipped around with wide eyes when he heard me snort with amusement. I was going to say something, but I guess I got distracted by what he was wearing.

He wore a gray hoodie that was opened to reveal he had nothing on underneath, but a of sweats. I could feel my cheeks turning bright red, and growing uncomfortably warm. I hated that feeling; I tried my best to suppress my embarrassment.

'Hi." I said unsure, as I remembered what Leo said last night. The only other roommate they had was him, so I think this was Marcus. He turned off the burner quickly, and walked over to me.

"Hi there." He said confidently before continuing. I stood still, apprehensive.

"I'm Marcus." I raised my eyebrows in response to his attitude.

"Oh, so your the ass at home." I said in an outburst of thought. I covered up my face with both hands. Why did I do that? He laughed at me.

"And you must be outgoing." He said humorously. All I did was nod along with him. Before he continued he walked closer to me.

"So, Ms. Outgoing do you have a name?" I took my hands away from my face, and moved them down by my sides.

"Bree. Um I'm Bree." I said with a grin. He grinned back at me before talking.

"So are you another one of Chase's one night stands?" I could feel my face turn a deeper shade of red that I didn't fathom possible.

"What? No way!" I said trying to convince myself more than him. I wish I was, even though that's insane to even think. He put his hands up in defense as he laughed at me.

"Don't worry, I know why you're here." He said truthfully.

"Oh ok." I said feeling bad about the whole 'ass' thing. He didn't seem like one at all.

"You know, me and Leo usually don't agree on things, but this time I actually do." He came closer to me, and leaned down to my ear before he continued.

"A pretty girl like you, shouldn't be left on the streets." I was left breathless as I shivered against his voice. He pulled away from me, and looked off into the distance.

I looked with him confused at what exactly was there, but I soon found out. In the doorway, there stood an extremely furious Chase looking at our exchange.

"Chase." I said nervously. All he did was glare at Marcus.

"Hey Chase! You want some bacon?" Marcus said happily. Chase didn't respond though. All he did was walk up to Marcus, grab him by the hood and walk out. Leaving me alone, with the bacon.

Eventually they came back, and so did the others. We all decided to eat breakfast together. Since they didn't have a dining room table, we all sat on the corners of the counter. Luckily there were exactly five corners, so I got a seat during breakfast. Adam turned to me happily eating bacon.

"I always knew we needed to fill that space! What a coincidence!" Leo laughed hysterically.

"I know right!" I laughed at their lightness before I looked over at Chase and Marcus. They were glaring intently at each other silently, motionless.

He broke his stare, and caught me staring at him. I grabbed onto the edge of the counter, scared of what he was going to do. Instead he did the unexpected, he smiled. I felt myself smiling back.

"Well in my opinion, I think there's one too many." He turned back to Marcus with a dark glare. I knew he was talking about me. I slammed my glass of orange juice down onto the counter, breaking it on accident. I looked at it quickly before staring at Chase.

"You know Chase? I really don't need this! I'm living here! Get over it!" I yelled at him angrily before jumping off the counter and stomping away.

"Bree wait!" He said quickly following after me. I stormed into his room, and grabbed my bag. He walked in, and stared at me.

"Bree-" I cut him off.

"Breeana! It's Breeana!" Chase looked at me hurt before continuing.

"What are you doing?" I pushed past him walking out.

"I'd rather live in someone else's room than yours! I thought I could handle it, but I admit it! I can't! Are you happy now?! You got what you wanted!" I was cracking. That was the last straw. He chased after me, even though I could run faster than him.

"Wait please! I wasn't talking about you. Please just come back!" He had my hand in his. I just stared at him frozen. He looked so sincere. But I was silent as he waited for an answer. He turned away from me, and walked out the door in his pajamas. I still stood there frozen, and still feeling his touch. Leo came up to me putting a hand on my shoulder.

"Bree?" I looked at him with tears in my eyes. He continued taking my hand in his.

"I think I know a place you'll really love." Adam walked behind Leo nodding.

*********************************************************

"Wow." I said astonished at the beautiful dance studio. Adam laughed at me.

"This place is the shit, but we barely use it." He said in a duh tone. Leo put an arm around me.

"So what do ya think kid? You wanna live here?" I looked at him as if he were insane.

"Are you kidding me?" Leo nodded at me.

"We know it's a bit awkward living with one of us, so..." Adam held his hands up as a grand gesture.

"Da Ta!" I laughed at him, and squealed.

"This is great! Thank you so much! What can I do to repay you?" Leo smiled at me as he motioned around.

"Just use this place to get better and better at dancing. We know that you love to dance, and you're really good! If you're willing to do it on the street, then do it in here." I felt like crying. This was my passion, and they believed in me. They were the only ones who ever did.

"I will. I promise." I said throwing my bag down, and hugging them. Adam whispered at me.

"We know that this is what you want to do for the rest of your life, and we fully support you 100% That'll make up for-" I cut him off.

"Wait, how do you know that?" Adam looked at Leo.

"Well you dropped this notebook that was open on this page." Leo gave me my diary. I wrote this on the plane.

"Guys... thank you." I said crying into Adam's shoulder.

"We believe in you." They said in unison. For once I felt like I was doing the right thing. I was going to be just fine.

*********************************************************

I lied down on the floor breathing heavy. I just finished dancing. I reached for my water bottle to see that it was empty. I got up with a groan, and traveled to the kitchen. Chase was on the counter eating a bag of chips. I glared at him as I refilled my water bottle. He looked down shamefully. I rolled my eyes at him, and turned to see Marcus leaning against the wall next to me. I ran into him, and his hands went to my hips.

"Hi." I greeted him nervously. He smiled down at me.

"Hi." He moved a piece of sweaty hair away from my face, and behind my ear. He kept his hand there as he continued.

"So, Bree I was wondering if...um you'd want to maybe go out with me sometime?" He bit his bottom lip waiting for my answer.

"You mean on a date?" I said emphasizing the word 'date' in Chase's direction. He looked up at me with pain in his eyes as Marcus nodded.

"That's exactly what I mean." I smiled at him.

"I'd love to Marcus." He cheered as he brought me into a hug. I put my arms around his neck, and hugged him back. Chase jumped down from the counter, and slammed the back door. Even though my date was with Marcus, the only person I had my mind on was Chase.

A/N: I literally haven't edited this since 2014. Have you ever looked at or remembered something you used to say all the time, and just wanted to go back in time and slap yourself? 'Cause I have; right now in fact. I had a sentence in here that just said 'I love bacon.' I'm embarrassed of myself. How do you guys get through this shitty work of mine? Alrighty, rant over! I hope you guys like this chapter. And I hope that all y'all have a happy holiday!
