Ch66 Miraculous Nino

This is kind of a long chapter but you deserve it after so long without an update. I'm still super busy so updates will be slow but I'm trying, plus I wonna finish this book before any more episodes of season 2 come out that way it will all be my original ideas for a completely original season 2 timeline of my own, which it has been so far.
.
[Narrator's POV]
"My precious little bugaboo, you have no idea how happy you make me." Adrien whispers as he pecks Marinette's nose with a kiss. "My beautiful princess...I'm sorry that I took so long, some prince charming I turned out to be."
"Shh, mon chaton d'amour (my love kitten)." Marinette hushes softly. "I don't love you because you're perfect, I love you for being you— Whiskers and all."
Adrien giggles softly and rests his forehead against Marinette's, brushing their noses together slightly. Marinette leans up and kisses him, slowly and tenderly...perfectly lovingly.
Adrien's hand falls from Marinette's hip to gently take her hand. Their fingers lace together and they part lips slowly. Adrien smiles down at Marinette, gently caressing his thumb against hers as they hold hands.
Marinette breathes a sigh as she looks up into his eyes. "I don't want to go home. I wish I could stay here with you."
"In the rain?" Adrien teases, though he feels the same way.
"That's right, it's still raining!" Marinette says happily. "You should stay in the bakery where you'll be warm and dry until it stops."
"Well, I'm not expected anywhere this afternoon so I don't see why not." Adrien replies with a smirk.
The two walk hand in hand with Adrien holding the umbrella over the both of them. When they enter the bakery, Sabine gasps happily and starts slapping her husband to get his attention.
Adrien and Marinette suddenly realise that they are still holding hands. Adrien quickly retracts his hand and occupies himself with closing the umbrella, while Marinette crosses her arms awkwardly as if to hide her hands from her parents.
Adrien fiddles with the umbrella nervously. He flinches when Tom's booming voice speaks to him directly.
"That umbrella didn't work too well did it?" Tom jokes, gesturing to the fact that Adrien and Marinette are both dripping wet.
Adrien smiles sheepishly and scratches the back of his head. "Hehe...I'm afraid that was my fault, sir."
"Mama, Papa, i-is it alright if Adrien takes shelter from the rain in here?" Marinette asks with a pleading grin.
"Of course, everyone is welcome in the Dupain-Cheng family household!" Tom answers happily.
"Why don't you two go upstairs and get yourselves dried off?" Sabine suggests kindly.
"Thankyou for your hospitality." Adrien says politely before following Marinette upstairs.
"I'll make us some hot chocolate!" Marinette says, humming to herself as she works away in the kitchen.
Adrien takes a seat at the kitchen counter. He sighs and rests his head in his hand as he watches Marinette. He still can't believe how lucky he is. First the two most amazing people in the world, the two girls he has fallen in love with, turn out to be the same person. Then, against all odds, that one amazing person became his.
With Adrien lost in thought and Marinette busy making their drinks, a silence falls between the two. A calming silence in which Marinette finally dwells on everything that had happened. She can't believe after all this time, it had been Adrien flirting with her as Cat Noir. She had spilled all of her feelings to Adrien without even knowing—the thought makes her so embarrassed. No wonder Cat Noir would act strangely in those situations. Marinette sighs to herself, thinking of the two precious boys who had stolen her heart. The two boys that had become one, making her feelings for them a million times stronger. Now that everything has died down, it all comes catching up to her. Adrien kissed Marinette. Repeatedly. And she kissed back. Passionately. And as they embraced each other tenderly he asked her to be his girlfriend, and she agreed.
Marinette turns around to see Adrien sitting at the kitchen counter, gazing at her with a smile. Marinette heart skips a beat. After all this time, his perfection still manages to surprise her. She smiles and carefully carries over their two mugs of hot chocolate.
"Ah, this brings back memories." Adrien says blissfully as he takes his drink. "Hot and sweet, just like you."
Adrien winks before taking a sip of his hot chocolate. Marinette blushes and she can't seem to find the words to respond. Adrien pulls his mug away with a smirk and licks the foam from his top lip.
"Nice to see I still have this kind of effect over you." He says cheekily.
"I-It just caught me off guard!" Marinette huffs stubbornly.
Adrien giggles. "You're cute."
Marinette lifts her mug up to hide her reddening cheeks, taking a long swig from her hot chocolate. She swallows her drink and lowers her mug. Adrien laughs at the foam line left behind on her top lip.
"You got a little something there, princess."
"What?" Marinette says, tilting her head.
Adrien can't resist it anymore, her cuteness is overloading. He leans over the counter, takes Marinette's head in his hands and snatches up her sweet lips in a kiss.
"Don't worry, I got it." Adrien whispers as he pulls away with a smirk.
Marinette double-blinks in surprise before smiling softly.
"Eugh! You guys are ruining my appetite." Plagg says as he emerges from Adrien's jacket.
"Plagg!" Tiki whines, flying out from Marinette's purse.
"What? I'm bored of watching to this sickeningly sweet display." Plagg complains. "I'm hungry!"
"All you care about is cheese." Adrien replies, rolling his eyes.
"And all you care about is kissing—it's disgusting!" Plagg retorts. He sighs and shakes his head. "I just don't get it. Nothing on this earth is better than camembert."
Marinette scoops Plagg up in her hands and plants a soft kiss on his little head. Plagg's fur puffs up in shock, his eyes wide.
Plagg squeaks and hides behind Tiki. "W-W-What was that? It was gross!"
Tiki giggles. "Plagg, you're blushing."
"I'm not!" Plagg shrieks in embarrassment. "I just got violated!"
"Don't go stealing my girl now Plagg." Adrien teases.
Marinette, Adrien and Tiki share a laugh at the shaken kwami. The rest of the afternoon was spent by Adrien and Marinette sharing their stories of Cat Noir and Ladybug together. It was hilarious to find out how close the two had actually been.
"So when Plagg went missing that night, he was actually stuck in your diary box?" Adrien laughs.
Plagg crosses his arms and grumbles. "It's a dangerous contraption, I'm telling you."
"Hey, it's stopped raining." Tiki points out.
Marinette and Adrien turn to the window. The sky outside is clear but neither of them want to part yet. Suddenly, a bright green figure flashes across the window.
Marinette jumps up from her seat. "An akuma attack!" She concludes on instinct.
Adrien's eyes widen. He looks out the window and searches frantically for whatever they had just seen. "It can't be..."
Marinette realises her mistake. Her tensed muscles relax as she calms down her defences.
"I-I'm sure it's not." Marinette says softly, placing a hand on Adrien's shoulder. "Come on, there's nothing to worry about. I'll walk you home now."
"No." Adrien replies. "Let's go check it out."
Before Marinette has time to respond, Adrien utters the command for his transformation and in a flash of green light, it is her kitty standing before her. Marinette's heart flutters. She wonders if she will ever get used to this unbelievable revelation.
"If that's what you want," Marinette turns to her kwami with a nod. "Tiki, spots on!"
Any distress Adrien was just feeling melts away in the soft pink light of Marinette's transformation. He gazes at the miraculous wonder, unable to tear his eyes away, until it is Ladybug standing in Marinette's spot.
"What is it?" Ladybug asks, noticing that he is staring.
"I just still can't believe it's you." Cat Noir answers with a smile.
Ladybug smiles bashfully. "I get what you mean," She says as she looks into his eyes. "I am one lucky ladybug."
Cat Noir smirks and bows before his lady. "Shall we go then, m'lady?"
.
Nino walks into his bedroom and shuts the door behind him, smirking cheekily. He had just witnessed Adrien and Marinette kissing. He has no idea if they are together and if so, for how long, but they did sneak into an abandoned observatory together when Marinette got injured so something is definitely brewing. If anyone can find out the deets, it's Alya—and Nino can't wait to spill what he saw to his girlfriend.
"Wait till Alya hears about this," Nino says with a chuckle.
Nino reaches into his bag for his phone but instead finds his fingers curling around some small box. He brings it out and raises an eyebrow in confusion as he observes it.
"A present from Alya maybe?" Nino opens the box and takes out a green bracelet. "Neat!"
Nino slips on the bracelet and holds out his hand to admire it when all of a sudden the charm begins to glow. Nino's eyes widen as a ball of green light appears and forms a small, green creature.
"Alien!" Nino shrieks, his usually calm voice cracking.
The little green kwami opens his eyes slowly and looks at Nino curiously.
"D-Don't abduct me, please." Nino begs as he stumbles back fearfully. "At least let me say goodbye to Alya first!"
"I am not here to abduct you. My name is Wayazz. I'm not an alien, I am a kwami." Wayazz says calmly.
Nino edges forward cautiously. Truth is, he always thought Alien's were cool. He always dreamed of one asking him to take them to his leader, but for it to actually happen...
"This is freaky." Nino whispers to himself as he pokes Wayazz.
"Please do not prod me." Wayazz says.
"Do kwamis come in peace?" Asks Nino.
"Yes, we are protectors of human kind. We have been since ancient times." Wayazz proceeds to explain the history of kwamis to Nino, as well as the legend of the guardian and all of the different miraculouses, including Ladybug and Cat Noir. By the end of it, Nino's jaw had dropped into a wide and agape smile.
"Oh man!" Nino throws his head back and grips his hair excitedly. "This is so cool. This is so awesome!" Nino's eyes are alight and wild as he snatches up his phone. "I've just learnt the entire history of Ladybug and Cat Noir. Wait until Alya hears about this—she's gonna freak!"
"No! You mustn't tell her." Wayazz says urgently. "You cannot tell anyone!"
Nino looks down at his phone sadly. "Not anyone?"
"Not anyone." Wayazz repeats.
"You're asking me to lie to my girlfriend? I can't lie to Alya!" Nino freaks. "I mean I literally can't lie to Alya. Not only am I a terrible liar but she is like a freaking genius detective! She'll see right through me."
"It's not lying, it is simply...withholding the truth." Wayazz says gently.
"But we tell each other everything." Nino whimpers.
"It is for your own safety, and hers." Wayazz replies softly.
"Awe man..." Nino sighs. "I've read enough comic books to know that a relationship between a superhero and a civilian never works out."
"Well, this is real life so perhaps things will be different." Wayazz says.
Nino takes a deep breath and hypes himself up once more. "You're right. This is a good thing. I'm going to be a freaking superhero!"
"Not just a superhero, you are a guardian. It is your destiny to watch over Ladybug and Cat Noir." Wayazz says.
"Fighting alongside Ladybug and Cat Noir— So. Cool! I wonder what my costume looks like." Nino says excitedly. "Oh dude, I have to think of a cool superhero name!"
"Er, yes it's very cool, but the responsibili—"
"I was thinking Michelangelo." Nino continues, striking a ninja pose. "What do you think? He was always my favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle."
"Teenage mutant...what?" Wayazz mutters. He sighs and shakes his head. "Nino, you have a great legacy to fulfil."
"I know, I know." Nino assures him. "With great power comes great responsibility."
"Yes, my master before you is the current guardian of the miraculouses. He has chosen you to carry the turtle miraculous as his successor." Wayazz says. "Carapace was his name."
"Carapace...like, the shell?" Nino replies.
Wayazz nods. "Yes, which reminds me, to activate your powers you must say the command 'arm shell'."
(A/N: Arm as in wield a weapon, or armor. Like a shell is armor so he gonna arm it).
"Arm shell?" Nino repeats.
Wayazz suddenly gets sucked away into Nino's bracelet, which glows brightly. Nino recoils in alarm as wisps of green light circle his body.
"Ah! What? Wayazz!" Nino hollers as green fabric stretches across his skin. "What's happening?"
A sudden weight pulls down on Nino's back. His glasses have turned into goggles and there is a hood over his head. Nino looks down at the bright green suit covering his body.
"Uh..." Nino reaches his arms behind him to feel the metal object on his back. "Uhhh...."
Nino grips the metal disk and takes it off to look at it.
"Woah," Nino says as he stares at the indestructible shield in his hands. "Cool!"
"Nino!" His mother yells from downstairs. "What's with all the ruckus?"
"Uh, nothing ma!" Nino calls back. "Everything's fine!"
Nino grins as he checks himself out in the mirror. He runs a finger along the slick edge of his shield. "I have to test this thing out."
Nino puts his shield on his back again before leaping out of his bedroom window. He seems to have considerably more strength and stamina than usual, perhaps it is the magic of the miraculous—But that doesn't mean his natural skills or coordination are any better.
Nino was looking for a safe place to test his powers, somewhere without any pedestrians. He thought maybe the park by his school would be quiet at this time of day, but what he didn't know is that his very own girlfriend happens to be making her way through there.
"Woohoo! YEAH!" Nino hollers as he leaps from rooftop to rooftop.
The boy gets a little to self-absorbed and jumps into the air to perform a front flip as he reaches the park. Nino pushes off the edge of the last building and successfully flips in the air, but his body over rotates.
"Nope!" Nino says as he begins plummeting face-first.
Nino screams and flails his arms as if to swim through the air. He falls into the park so luckily there were some trees to break his fall...although it was painful.
"Woah— OOF! Ow—AH! Argh." Nino grunts as he hits each branch until finally falling right on top of a passing girl.
"Sorry..." Nino groans and rolls off the girl, onto his back.
"What the hell man?" Says a familiar voice.
Nino looks up to see Alya dusting herself off. He immediately panics and tries to scramble to his feet, but the round shield on his back is making it extremely hard. Nino kicks his feet desperately but ends up just pushing himself round in a circle on the ground.
Alya looks down at him and scoffs mockingly. "And what are you supposed to be?"
"I—I'm a superhero!" Nino answers, flailing his limbs helplessly.
This only causes Alya to laugh harder. "You look more like an overturned turtle to me."
Alya smiles and holds out her hand. Nino looks at it hesitantly before taking it, allowing Alya to pull him to his feet.
"So, Mr. Hero," Alya says. "What's your name?"
Nino shudders. "I don't know you that's for sure!" He yells in a panic.
Alya blinks at his outburst. Nino places a hand on his forehead to shield his eyes in embarrassment. He feels so flustered he can't even look at his own girlfriend. What if she recognises him? How could she not recognise him? Do Ladybug and Cat Noir always feel as anxious as this?
"Yeah, I know. I'm pretty sure I would remember meeting a flying turtle." Alya says teasingly. "Hence why I was asking for your name. It's what people do when they meet."
"Oh, right, um," Nino taps his chin frantically. "Er, w-what was it again..."
"You don't know your own name?" Alya questions with a raised brow.
"No, no, I know it." Nino insists, waving his hands at Alya. "It's on the tip of my tongue I swear, just gimme a sec."
Aly crosses her arms as she waits.
Nno pinches the bridge of his nose and closes his eyes, muttering to himself. "Kappa...peace? No..."
"Are you actually a hero? Or are you just a chump in a costume." Alya interrogates, leaning forward to examine Nino. "Are you friends with Ladybug and Cat Noir? Do you have miraculous powers like them?"
Alya narrows her eyes as she looks Nino up and down, causing him to sweat nervously.
"I, uh, don't know...?" Nino shifts his eyes, looking anywhere but at Alya.
"You don't know?" Alya repeats.
Nino's heart is pounding. He can't handle this pressure. He hates lying to Alya! Does she interrogate Ladybug and Cat Noir like this during their interviews? How do they handle it?!
Speaking of Ladybug and Cat Noir, the two heroes suddenly drop down in between Nino and Alya with their weapons drawn. Ladybug pulls Alya back defensively, swinging her yoyo round like a shield, while Cat Noir kicks Nino to the ground and points his staff at him threateningly.
"Who are you?!" Ladybug demands.
"Are you an akumatized villain?" Cat Noir asks, surveying Nino closely.
Nino looks up at Cat Noir fearfully. "C-Calm down dude!"
Alya laughs light-heartedly and rests a hand on Ladybug's shoulder. "Yeah, look at this gump. Does he seem sinister to you?"
"I'm not a gump, I'm a superhero." Nino sulks.
Cat Noir slowly lifts his staff. "A new superhero...?"
Nino holds up his wrist to display his bracelet. "The turtle miraculous."
Ladybug gasps. "That's Master Fu's miraculous! How did you get it? Did you steal it?!"
"Steal it? No, it was given to me! I don't even know who this Master Fu is. Honest." Nino says, holding up his hands in surrender. "My kwami Wayazz told me that some guardian dude chose me as his successor."
Ladybug exhales a sigh of relief. "Master Fu is the guardian."
Alya blinks in confusion. What is a kwami and a guardian and who is this Master Fu?
"So this guy is legit?" Cat Noir asks.
Ladybug nods and puts away her yoyo. "Well, he does know Wayazz. I'll pay the guardian a visit to clarify but for now, I'm sure this gump is no harm."
Alya snickers as Nino frowns at his new nickname.
Cat Noir puts away his staff and offers a hand to help the poor boy he had kicked to the ground. "Sorry for being so accusing."
Nino smiles up at the welcoming Cat hero and gladly takes his hand. "It's cool man, I get the feeling we're gonna be bros in no time."
Ladybug can't help but feel uneasy. Why would Master Fu give out more miraculouses if they have already defeated Hawkmoth? Alya is also sceptical of the newcomer, purely because she thinks her beloved LadyNoir superhero duo was awesome on their own. The two girls stand by as they watch the two boys bond unusually naturally.
"Is that shield heavy? Is it just for defence or can you attack with it too? Oh my god can you throw it? Try throwing it! Hit that tree over there—SLICE IT IN HALF!" Cat Noir bounces on his feet excitedly and points at a tree on the other side of the park.
"Okay!" Nino agrees extremely easily as if it is the best idea in the world.
Nino reaches back and takes his shield as he positions himself in a steady stance. He pokes out his tongue and he narrows his eyes in concentration whilst he aims at the tree. Nino curls his arm in, holding his shield like a Frisbee.
"Wait, I'm not sure if this is a good idea," Ladybug says.
But it is too late. Nino has already released his metal Frisbee, throwing it as hard as he can towards the tree...
Only that it misses entirely.
"Aw man, now I'm gonna have to go get it." Nino complains. "Guess my aim needs some work..."
Little did they know that the shield had continued to fly through the air, spinning around until eventually returning the way it came.
"Don't just go chucking your weapon around when you don't know how to use it." Ladybug says, putting her hands on her hips.
"Boys will be boys." Alya replies with a sigh.
"Yeah, let us have our fun LB." Cat Noir says, slinging his arm around his lady.
"I'm serious!" Ladybug replies. "Someone could get hurt—"
Then out of nowhere Nino's shield comes hurling back to them and smacks him right in the face.
"OOF!" Nino falls backwards and groans in pain as he clutches his nose. "aarrgghhhh....owww..."
"Oh shoot! You okay buddy?" Cat Noir quickly scrambles to help Nino up while Alya howls with laughter.
"I think my nose is broken..." Nino groans whilst pinching his nose, making his voice sound funny.
Alya doubles over, laughing so hard it brings tears to her eyes. "I-I'm s-sorry! I—s-shouldn't be—be laughing—are you o-kay?" She says in between giggles.
"I told you guys someone would get hurt!" Ladybug tilts Nino's chin up and gasps. "Your nose is bleeding! Oh, it's all swollen too, oh dear! How will you explain this to your parents?"
Nino smiles weakly. "It's cool, they'll probably think I got in a fight at school or something."
Alya laughs even harder, to the point where no sound comes out. "You...fight..." She wheezes, slapping her knee.
"You should go home and put some ice on that." Ladybug says.
"But I only just got here." Nino replies desperately. "You guys have probably had injuries way worse than this. I can handle it, I'm a superhero too!"
"Yeah don't make him go, we're not finished playing." Cat Noir says as he lifts Nino's hood up and down. "So do your goggles do anything cool like help you see through stuff, or really far away, or do you just need them to see at all."
Nino opens his mouth to answer but Cat Noir fires another question at his before he gets the chance.
"Do you have any cool powers like my cataclysm?!" He asks eagerly.
"Wayazz told me I could protect anything with my Ultimate Shield." Nino answers quickly before Cat Noir can ask another question. As soon as the words leave Nino's mouth, a small, green force-field flickers around Nino. He looks around in surprise. "I-I thought my Ultimate Shield was my weapon, I didn't know I could make force-fields."
"Cool!" Cat Noir pokes the force-field and it disappears. "That's all it took to break it? A little weak..."
"Maybe it's because I wasn't concentrating hard enough?" Nino ponders. "I don't understand why I would need a force-field when my weapon is already a shield though..."
Nino lifts his arms to shrug when his bracelet gives off a beeping sound. He looks to see five hexagons, like the pattern on a turtles shell, only one of the shapes is now flickering away.
"What does that mean?" Nino asks cluelessly.
Ladybug shakes her head. "You can only use your special power once before your transformation runs out. Your shield is like Cat Noir's cataclysm, one touch and that's it."
"So my disguise is about to crumble?" Nino starts jogging on the spot in a panic. "W-What do I do? Where do I go? You can't know my secret identity!"
Alya giggles and wipes a tear from her eye. "You're so lame."
"I'm new to this!" Nino says defensively.
"Relax, just go home or if you can't make it there in time, find a place to hide." Cat Noir advices as he pats his new friend on the shoulder.
"Right, okay, I should say something cool shouldn't I?" Nino says.
"What?" Alya replies.
"You know, like a clever catchphrase or a pun." Nino elaborates. "Whenever Cat Noir leaves he says, gotta flea, and Ladybug says, bug out. Maybe I could say, cowabunga!"
"Seriously?" Alya says with a chuckle. "This chump is killing me."
Nino looks slightly hurt by Alya's banter but before he can respond, his miraculous beeps again.
"You're wasting time, just go." Ladybug says. "We'll contact you some other time."
"Er, right. Bye then!" Nino gives an awkward wave before running off.
"Wait, we didn't catch his name." Cat Noir says.
"He didn't know it anyway." Alya replies, to Cat Noir's confusion.
Nino climbs in through his bedroom window and collapses on his bed. "Disarm Shell."
Wayazz extracts from his bracelet in a wisp of green light and Nino is back to his normal self.
"Were you listening to anything I explained to you?" Wayazz asks with a sigh. "Your name is Carapace and your Ultimate Shield is a force-field that can stretch and mould unlike your metal weapon. It can take any size and shape you want, therefore it can protect anything you want."
"Sorry...Guess I'm not the best superhero." Nino says glumly. "Man, being a superhero has been my dream since I was old enough to read a comic book, but I'm not cool at all! I'm just a chump..."
.

Hope you enjoyed, please vote if you did and I'll try to update soon.
Basically my thoughts for Carapace's personality was that Marinette is usually nervous but as Ladybug she is confident, Adrien is usually gentle and well-behaved but Cat Noir is fun and cheeky, each superhero seems to be the other half of their secret identities. Since Nino is so chill and cool, I thought maybe having responsibility forced upon him would make him a bit more anxious, and maybe he would try to be cool resulting in him being a little lame, not in a mean way, in a cute dorky way. Now that Nino's superhero persona has been introduced, he will actually be referred to as Carapace in future chapters when transformed.
