CH10 :Summer Vacation

AMAZING ^ Adrien with a bun, yes please !

[Narrator's POV]

"AW HELL YEAH! Summer vacation is here baby, WOO!" Nino cheers as he and the rest of the students rush out of school. "Beach babes, here I come!"

Alya stops to glare at him.

"I—I mean beach babe...singular..." Nino says.

Alya rolls her eyes and wraps her arm around her boyfriend's waist.

Nino smiles and puts his arm around her shoulders. "You're gonna love this—I've got the perfect wingman plan to hook up Adrien and Marinette this holiday break."

"Nino! You're not supposed to know that Marinette likes him." Alya says. She looks around and lowers her voice, "So what's this plan you got?"

Nino laughs. "Alright, so Adrian's old man has this hella sick beach house right," he explains. "Well I've organised a mini holiday trip there. Just you, me and the two lovebirds. All we need is for his dad to agree and then it's one whole week on the beach with no Chloe."

Alya looks up at Nino. "Have I ever told you how amazing you are?"

"No need, babe." Nino says, kissing her on the forehead. "No need."

[Adrien's POV]

"You're strange, you know that?" Plagg says. "First you want to go to school by choice, and now you don't want to go on a trip to your family's fancy beach house."

"It's not that I don't want to go, it's that I can't." I reply. "How can I leave home for a whole week? What if Hawk Moth attacks?"

"You need to loosen up a little and have some fun." Plagg tells me as he munches on his Camembert cheese. "Who would get upset on summer vacation? Hawk Moth has no one to akumatize. Besides, the beach is like two hours from here."

"Yeah, two hours by car." I respond.

"So if worst comes to worst, you run." Plagg says simply.

"It doesn't matter anyway. I only asked my dad to satisfy Nino." I reply. "He'll never say yes."

Nathalie, my father's assistant, knocks on my door before peeking in. "Adrien?"

"Yes, come in." I reply.

"Your father has agreed to let you and your friends use the family beach house." Nathalie says. "I've packed your suitcase and notified the three classmates that you listed. We will leave in two hours."

"Woah. Wait, wait, wait." I stammer. "He said yes?"

"Your father is extremely busy this week so he thought you should spend some time outside with friends. Of course, I will be accompanying you for adult supervision." Nathalie explains. "And...you will be required to attend a few photoshoots while you are there."

"I knew there was a catch." I mumble.

But I can't pull out now, Nathalie said she already contacted my friends.

With that, Nathalie leaves my room and closes the door behind her.

"Yahoo!" Plagg celebrates. "To be curled up on a warm, sunny beach with my Camembert is all this kwami dreams for."

"You have very simple aspirations." I say bluntly.

[Marinette's POV]

I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe this is happening!

Adrien leans over to buckle in his seatbelt and accidentally brushes his hand against my thigh whilst clipping it in. I feel my face grow hot. I sit dead still as he fidgets with the buckle, repeatedly touching my upper leg.

"Sorry," He apologises once he finally gets the seatbelt clicked in.

"No-No wowwy—Wo norries—Ah, no worries!" I stutter, my brain having a complete meltdown.

Alya volunteered to sit in the front, that way it would be Nino, Adrien and me in the back seats and I can sit next to Adrien for a full two hours with nowhere to run. She gives me a thumbs up and winks.

"So Adrien," Nino starts. "I'm obviously a taken man but you're still single and ready to mingle, right? Excited to meet some bikini babes?"

"Uh...I—I guess...? Not really Nino, no." Adrien answers. "I mean, I'm here to hang out with you guys."

"Of course, but you know..." Nino leans in and murmurs, "Marinette's single too-oo..."

Alya shifts her seat back to ram Nino's knees. "Oops. Sorry." She says, even though she doesn't make any attempt to pull it back up.

Adrien's eyes flicker over to me. I quickly look out the window so he doesn't think I was eavesdropping.

Thankfully, Ayla changes the subject. "So anyway guys, what do you want to do first when we get there?"

"I'm heading straight for the ocean." Nino declares, struggling to get in a comfortable position behind Alya's seat.

"Yeah, I don't have any photoshoots this afternoon so it will be a great opportunity to go swimming." Adrien says. "...they don't want me to get salt water in my hair on photoshoot days." He adds dully.

"It'll be cool watching you work!' I say positively. "And the pictures will be really awesome! It's not every day you get to model on the beach and show off that summer body. I bet you'll look great!"

What? WHAT? What am I saying?!!

Adrien gives me a smile. "Aha, thanks Marinette."

"Teeheehee..." I slur in reply.

Aaahhhh why am I so awkward. I'm probably making Adrien sooo uncomfortable. He'll never like me!

.

One long car ride later...

.

"This. House. Is! HUGE!" Alya exclaims.

I stand with my jaw hanging open as I stare up at the beach villa. It looks to be three stories high with a balcony going around the whole house, linking every room.

"The living area and home theatre is on the first floor, the kitchen and dining room is on the second floor and all the bedrooms are on the third floor." Adrien explains monotonously.

I get the feeling that he doesn't like being judged by his money. Maybe I should stop staring like an idiot.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" I say happily. "Let's get our swimsuits on and head down to the beach!"

Adrien's expression lifts a little as Nino and Alya rush inside excitedly. I smile at him before heading inside myself to change. Even though there are many rooms to choose from, Alya and I decide to stay in a joint room so that we can stay up and talk at night. We throw our bags down on the matching twin beds and start getting ready.

"I got a new bikini last week. Not to toot my own horn, but I look stunning in it." Alya emerges from the bathroom wearing an orange bikini. "Of course, I look stunning in everything."

"I wish I had your confidence." I giggle.

"It's all in the attitude, Marinette. Just make a decision to be the best you can be." Alya tells me.

I let out a sudden squeal. "What? No— No, No, NO! What is this?!"

"What? What is what?" Alya freaks out.

"This!" I pull out a red bikini with black polka dots.

Alya gasps. "That is so. Cute. It's just like Ladybug!"

I stare at the bikini in horror. Will wearing this reveal my identity?

"What's the problem? Why are you freaking out?" Alya questions.

"Because my mum packed it for me. It's—It's embarrassing!" I answer. "Doesn't it look a little skimpy to you?"

"Well I like it." Alya says. "And do you know who else will like it?...Aaaaadrien."

Just thinking about wearing this in front of Adrien makes my cheeks blush. "I...I can't!" I hold out the bikini as far from my body as I can. "If you like it so much then you wear it! Please, let's trade."

"No way. I just bought this bikini. Besides, we're different sizes." Alya denies. "Don't be a wimp. Just wear it."

Alya waves me goodbye with a cheeky grin and leaves the room.

"Ooooh, what do I do? What do I do?!" I panic. "Tiki, help!"

Tiki flies out from my bag. "You should wear it, Marinette. You look good in red."

"But what about my identity? What if they see me in this and figure it out?"

"I doubt it." Tiki says. "The miraculous disguise is magic. It's designed so you cannot be recognised. Even if you look the same in and out of costume, people will not associate the two images. It's like meeting two siblings that are very similar but never quite the same in your mind. Or having two of the same puzzle pieces that won't fit together. People can piece together clues and make assumptions of who are you but your appearance is not evidence you have to worry about."

"Woah, really? You've never mentioned that before." I reply. I take another look at the bikini. "Alright. I'll do it—for Adrien!"

.

[Adrien's POV]

Alya sets out her towel next to Nino's. I, on the other hand, have a full lawn chair complete with an umbrella because I'm not allowed to get sunburnt. I cross my arms pettily just thinking about it. Nino nudges my arm and gestures for me to turn around.

I follow his and Alya's gaze to see Marinette walking towards us in a...in a...Ladybug bikini! My eyes widen.

Alya giggles and begins to sing, "It was an Itsy Bitsy, Teenie Weenie, Lady Bug spotted bikini. That she wore for the first time today."

"Alya!" Marinette says, her face going almost as red as her swimsuit.

Should I be blinking? I should probably be blinking. What's wrong with me? I keep staring at Marinette, I can't help it. She looks amazing...Ah! Snap out of it, brain— stay loyal to Ladybug!

Marinette rubs her arm unconfidently and avoids my eye contact. I'm probably making her uncomfortable. Stop staring like a blubbering idiot!

I force myself to choke out some words. Any words. "Uh—y-you look...good. Mari...Marinette."

Woah, what's with the stammer? I'm seriously losing it. It's probably the bikini pattern messing with my brain, not Marinette...or her body... Stop it, Adrien! It's just when I see those polka dots I think of Ladybug.

"Thanks Adrien." Marinette says bashfully.

Alya pulls on Marinette's arm. "Come on, let's get in!"

The girls rush towards the water, with Nino and me trailing slowly behind.

Nino leans over to me and whispers, "Marinette looks pretty good in a bikini, huh?"

"N-Nino!" I squeak, my face growing hot. "Alya is right there. You know, you're girlfriend?"

"Not for me you numbskull!" Nino gives me a knock on the head.

"Ow..." I whimper, rubbing my forehead.

"Operation get close with Marinette continues!" Nino says excitedly.

"I told you to stop meddling." I reply sternly.

"Whatever man, it's just the four of us hanging out together on a romantic, remote beach for a week. Alya and I are already paired up with some sweet times ahead of us which leaves you and Marinette." Nino says. "You should hit her up, dude."

My eyes wonder back to Marinette and I feel myself slipping away into a dreamlike state again. "No!" I tell myself firmly. "I can't. I don't love Marinette."

"Woah. Dude. I just said you should go talk to her, no one said anything about love. You need to calm down, we can think about commitment later. You know, if things go well." Nino gives me a wink.

"I don't want to commit to Marinette." I reply.

"Okay seriously do you have, like, a phobia of commitment?" Nino says.

"No!" I answer in frustration. "I just—what I meant was—I'm in love with someone else."

Nino stops and stares. "What? You never told me you got a crush."

"It's complicated..." I sigh.

"Oh man..." Nino looks at Marinette sadly. "I really thought you had something for Marinette."

I turn my gaze to Marinette, who is playing with Alya in the ocean. She is cute, but...I don't have feelings for her.

My heart belongs to my Ladybug.
