                                "Okay, so I'm going to give you your birthday present now as I won't be able to on your actual birthday." Josh spoke, as he led Danielle away from the others. The group had rented out a section of a nearby restaurant to have the party. There was a room for them all to dance and have fun which was where the two had just come from. Josh held onto Dani's hand as he guided her to somewhere quite.

"You didn't have to get me anything," Dani said as they came to a halt in an empty corridor.

"I know, but I wanted to," He smiled, pulling out a small box from his pocket. It was wrapped in paper that had the words 'Merry Christmas' across it. Dani giggled as she looked up at him. He had a goofy smile on his face. "Sorry, we ran out of birthday wrapping paper."

Josh handed Dani the small box. His smile never left his face as he watched her open with such care. She didn't have a clue what it could be, but she was excited nonetheless.

"What is it?" Dani asked once she pulled off all the paper, discarding it on the floor. She held the small black box in her hands, her cheeks burning up.

"Open it!" Josh said, excitement rising in him. Dani laughed at his giddiness before opening the box.

Dani's hand covered her mouth in surprise as she looked down at the necklace in the box. It had a thin silver chain and attached to the end was a flower. Her heart warmed as her eyes flicked up to look at Josh. He was biting on his lip out of nervousness, unsure of whether she liked the gift or not.

"Josh," Dani softly spoke, "It's beautiful!"

Josh's face immediately lit up once again. He took the necklace out of the box. Dani realised what he was doing and turned around to face away from him. Josh gently place the necklace around her neck, and secured it for her. Dani turned back around to face him. The biggest smile was plastered across her lips.

"It's a violet," Josh began, "I thought it was quite fitting considering your characters name is Violet. I was going to get you a hoodie, but you have plenty of those already." He rambled. Dani let out a breathy laugh before reaching her arms up around his neck and pulling him into a tight hug.

Josh was shocked at first, not knowing how to react. Eventually, he relaxed into it, placing his arms around her waist. He pulled her closer to him, her head resting on his shoulder. Josh breathed in the scent of her perfume, loving every moment of their embrace.

Dani pulled away, moving back slightly. She looked up at him. Her heart was racing in that moment. All she wanted to do was tell him how she felt. Tell him how she was developing feelings for the curly haired boy. But she was scared. Scared that he didn't feel the same. Scared that he'd turn her down and she'd ruin their friendship.

Josh had been holding back for a while too. He had thought about admitting his feelings to Dani several times that day alone. But just like Dani, he was scared.

"Thank you," Dani said in almost a whisper. Her voice was shaky as their eyes stayed fixed on each other's. Josh reached out his hand and took hers in his own. Courage was building up inside him. He figured it was now or never. Besides, if it went wrong, Dani would be leaving for London for a week which meant they'd have time away to process.

Josh intertwined their fingers, hoping Dani would realise what he was going to do. She did. His touch was soft and sent a wave of electricity through her body. She stepped forward, closing the gap between them. Josh lifted up his free hand and brushed loose strands of hair from her face, gently. Dani smiled as Josh leant down, connecting their lips together in a kiss.
