Steve's POV

Driin driin

The phone rang from my night table and I groaned, complaining.

-Who is calling you at 3 am?!- Peggy said next to me.

Was I with Peggy that night? Yes.

Should it have been Bucky? Yes.

-I don't know- I said and it was true, who would call at 3 am?

I amswered the call: -Steve Rogers, who is there?-.

-Hi Steve! I am Bucky's mum!-.

-Oh yeah! Wait why are you calling? Did something bad happened?- I asked worried.

-Bucky... He... Something went wrong, the doctor said he could try breathe without the machine and... Oh God he fainted and he isn't waking up!- she said crying.

-Oh no! Where are you now?! Where is he?!-.

-The usual hospital, room 394, 3rd floor- she said.

-I am coming!- I said and ended the call.

-What is happening?- Peggy asked.

-Sorry I have to go, my friend is dying- I said -You can stay here but leave in the morning and clean everything please-.

Peggy nodded and I left.

In a few minutes I was at the hospital and I started running until I reached the room.

Bucky's mum was crying, his heartbeat was very slow.

-I leave you two alone, ok?- she said when she saw me and left.

I sat on the chair next to the bed and I felt a few tears falling on my cheecks.

-Don't leave me please, please don't- I said sobbing -I can't live without you-.

This was probably a punishment for what I did with Peggy and I deserved it, but Bucky didn't have to suffer.

I took his hand with mine and I started crying and eventually fell asleep.

I woke up when something moved in my hands: Bucky's hand.

I looked up and saw him trying to open his eyes.

When he did so he looked at me and smiled weakly.

-Hey...- Bucky said.

-Hey... Don't you dare to do this to me again ok?- I said smiling.

He smiled too and I kissed him.

-I'm here, I am not going anywhere- Bucky said.

-I know... I know- I said -I love you-.

Did I really say that? Yes I did.

-I love you too- Bucky said and we kissed again.

-Your mum is here too, I go to call her- I said and left.

While his mum was inside the room with Bucky and the doctor I took my phone: I had one thing to do.

-Hey Peggy! Meeting at 10 am at my place?- I said.

Bucky's POV

-What did happen?!- my mum yelled at the doctor.

-This can happen, it clearly was too early to remove the machine- Dr. Tyler said.

-My son almost died!- my mum yelled.

-Mum it's ok, I am here. Dr. Tyler was only doing his job- I said to her -Am I going to heal? Be honest-.

-You will, it only will take time- the doctor said -But that guy outside is helping a lot-.

-Is he still here?- I asked.

-No honey, he said he was going ti change clothes and then come back- my mum said.

I nodded.

I trusted Steve, then why was I feeling that something was wrong?
