WARNING!
If you LOVE happy endings.... Then this book is NOT for you. Sorry Craverz/Readerz!

Joel and Moriah looked at each other. Then they looked at the clipboard.
They just couldn't believe it.

The nurse but her lip and signalled them to follow her.
She led them through some hallways and into a secured room.

Alexis laid in the bed, a breathing mask on her face. The machines beeped, and she was covered in wires. She looked pale, weak.
Dead.

The nurse tapped on her shoulder.
"Alexis," she whispered.
Alexis fluttered her eyes open. The light stung her eyes, but she forced to open them. Slowly, she became comfortable with the light.

Moriah rushed to her side and carefully held her hand.
Her tears flew as she moved.
Joel walked up to her other side, soothing Alexis's hair.

Joel looked at the nurse and spoke in a low, quiet, serious voice.
"Can we be alone?"
The nurse nodded and walked out.

Leaving Joel, Moriah, and Alexis alone.
Alexis finally spoke.
"What is going on?"
Joel and Moriah looked at each other.
Joel nodded, and he looked at Alexis, tears filled his eyes.
Moriah silently cried, she held Joel's hand.

It was time to let the truth go.
He took a deep breath.
"Alexis, there is something we must tell you."

Alexis grew in fear. Moriah began to cry, and Joel began. My

"When you were a baby, you died. Remember?"
Alexis nodded, paying close attention to every word.
Moriah wrapped her hands around Joel's arm, tears streaming silently down her face.

"Well, you turned out to be a healthy baby. Nothing wrong. A strong girl. That was, until a couple of months ago. When you and Moriah had that checkup."

Flashback, at the check up.

Alexis walked into the champagne colored room. The nurse smiled and tapped on the table.
"Sit down, sweetie."

Alexis did as she was told. She sat down and smiled as the nurse told her that she was going to listen to her heart.

The nurse pressed on her chest.
It was an unusual heart beat.
"Can you breathe in and out for me, slowly?"
Alexis did so, and the nurse recorded the heart beat.

It was fast, then slowly, then fast, stopped for a second, and back slowly.
That was not the correct her beat pattern.

The nurse began to ask Alexis questions.
"Have you felt, dizzy or tired these days?"
Alexis thought for a second.
"I've had chest pain, and i have felt dizzy and nauseous."
The nurse nodded and wrote down every detail.
"Anything else?"

Alexis cocked her head and responded.
"I sometimes loose my breath and can barely breathe. I also have woken up in the middle of the night and couldn't breathe."

The nurse wrote that down, her eyes were full of fear as she thought of what Alexis might have.

End of Flashback

Joel kept going.
"The doctors studied your symptoms and your studies concluded to one thing."
Alexis's eyes grew as Joel continued.

Flashback at Checkup

Doctor Johnson took a seat, and showed Moriah and Joel the results from Alexis.

"We have received some information and have concluded a diagnosis for Alexis Smallbone."

Moriah and Joel look up with fear of the next words.
Dr. Johnson went on.

"Alexis Smallbone's symptoms include Chest pain, vomiting, short-breath, rapid heart beating, no pulse, dizziness, and nauseousness. And there is only one thing that those symptoms match."

End of Flashback

Moriah cried into Joel's arm. Joel embraced her and let a tear trickle down his cheek.

"The doctor told us you had little time to live. Proximity, seven months."

Alexis looked down, afraid. She couldn't take it. She began to cry and whispered.
"What do I have?"

Joel bit his lip.
"I think k I need to explain everything first."
Alexis nodded, hoping Joel will finish fast.

Joel continued.
"Over those past months, Moriah and I received calls and texts, that told us you had even shorter life. That your days were counted.

Flashback to Alexis's Quinceañera

Moriah received a text from Dr. Johnson.

Dr. Johnson:
I got the results back. You don't have much time. (For Alexis, not Moriah)

End of Flashback

Alexis's heart began to thump harder. She spoke in a shaky voice.
"Who else knew about this?"

Joel looked at Moriah, who had red puffy eyes.
Moriah gulped and spoke.
"Rayne, Madi, Courtney, Luke, your father, and I."

Alexis breathed faster. Her tears went down faster.
"Why didn't you tell me?! Why didn't you warn me?! Why didn't you tell me the truth?!"

The machine beat faster.
Moriah ran to Alexis side and tried calming her down.

"We didn't want you to get hurt, you were so happy. We didn't want to take that away."
Moriah pulled Alexis into a hug, Alexis cried into her shoulder.

When her cries turned into sniffs, Joel continued.

"It hurt us not telling you, we wanted to, Luke told me to tell you, but I didn't know how."
Alexis blankly stared at the ground.
Joel cleared his throat.

"When the tour had ended, Dr. Johnson has told us the estimation of your life."
Joel pressed his lips together and cried a little. He choked out.
"Two months."

Alexis felt her heart break.
Joel continued, crying louder and harder with each word.

"Your symptoms multiplied and grew. Moriah and I feared that one morning, you might never wake up."
Joel covered his face and spoke softly.
"I feared that I might wake up, thinking that, that might be my last day with you."

Alexis cried, and Joel walked to Moriah and Alexis. They all hugged each other, tears falling on the sheets.

After a few moments of tears, Alexis finally whispered.
"What do I have?"

Joel looked at Moriah. She was ready to tell Alexis. She took a deep breath and spoke, her voice cracking at some parts.
Alexis trued to stay calm, but she was afraid to hear what she had.

Moriah tried not to cry.
"Alexis, your have Sudden Cardiac Arrest, sometimes known as SCA."
Alexis was still a little confused.
"What is SCA?"

Joel took over, since Moriah just couldn't.
"SCA, is when your heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. You loose blood, and if they can't revive you within minutes you will-"

Joel's voice cracked and he began to cry. Moriah hugged him, looking away from Alexis, she couldn't take it.

Alexis looked down.
"How much time do I have?"
Joel sniffed and walked over to the. He hugged her, and Alexis felt warmth cover her.
"Not much, but I'll make it last. I'll make them the best moments ever!"

Alexis parted from the hug.
"Dad, when I'm... Gone, will you still remember me?"
Joel pressed his lips together as more tears flowed from his eyes.
"I promise, I will never forget you. Ever."
Moriah sobbed into her hands.
Alexis crawled to her and hugged her.
"I love you, mom. You were my best friend."

Moriah kissed Alexis's forehead, crying. She whispered
"Oh, Alexis. I love you."
Alexis cried into Moriah's shoulder. Joel walked up behind her and put his arm around both of them, crying.

Luke and Courtney bursted in. They saw Joel and Moriah crying. Luke whispered to Joel.
"She knows?"
Joel nodded. Moriah cried harder.
Courtney walked over to Moriah and comforted her.
Luke went to them and began to pray, with tears.

Alexis wiped her tears.
"Uncle Luke, Aunt Courtney, I love y'all and my little cousins. I'll miss y'all so much."
Courtney began to cry and Luke kissed Alexis's hand.

He felt her pulse. It was slowing down. His eyes grew I'm fear.
"Alexis, your pulse-"
Alexis slowly blinked.
"Its okay uncle... Luke."
Her breaths were short.
"Mom... Dad... Court... Luke... Don't... Ever... Forget... Me... I... Love... Ya'll..."
She whispered, for she could no longer breathe much.
"I... Can... See... God's... Face..."

Moriah held Alexis's hand and kissed it.
Alexis wrapped her hand around Moriah's index finger. Moriah remembered something.

Flashback to when Moriah first held Alexis

Moriah smiled as she looked at her little pink bundle. She cooed.
"Hello baby girl."
The baby yawned in response.
Moriah kissed the baby's forehead and whispered.
"I will always love you, Alexis."

The baby smiled, which made Moriah feel warmth.
Moriah touched the baby's cheek. Alexis grabbed Moriah's finger.

Moriah and Joel smiled at their baby girl.

End of Flashback

Alexis's machine went flat, and Alexis lost the spark in her eyes. Her head fell to her right shoulder and her hand slowly fell.

Moriah cried, uncontrollably. Joel fell to his knees, crying. Luke and Courtney embraced, sobbing.

Doctors rushed in and took Courtney, Luke, Joel, and Moriah out. They came in with a revival kit.

Joel and Moriah sat on the ground outside of Alexis's room, sobbing. Luke and Courtney wept into each other.

-----------------

They waited only twenty minutes, when a doctor came out.
His head down, and whispered to them all.

"I'm sorry, Mr and Mrs. Smallbone. Your child did not make it."

I'm sorry, Mr and Mrs. Smallbone. Your child did not make it.

The same words a doctor said fifteen years ago.

Only this time, she wouldn't come back.

Joel and Moriah wrapped their arms around each other and sobbed.
They slowly fell to the ground, crying, letting out each tear.

Luke and Courtney cried out, praying for strength.

Alexis was gone.
In a heart beat.

Sorry Craverz!!😭😭😭

But, I did warn ya'll at the beginning!!! I'm sorry, but Alexis had to go.

Now ya'll understand?
If not, here's a little summary.

"When Moriah and Alexis went to the check up, Moriah found out she was pregnant. Alexis had the stomach virus. But, after a few more studies, doctors diagnosed Alexis with SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest).
Moriah and Joel found out and chose not to tell Alexis that her days were count.
Moriah snd Joel would receive messages and calls, warning them that they "Didn't have much time."

So, the doctors prediction came true, and Alexis found out at the hospital, after having strong symptoms.

Alexis died, and doctors tried to revive her, but they couldn't. It was her time."
