Get ready for shit to go down! (Only a little, though...)
Date: August 14th and August 15th. (12.5 weeks)
''Lou, what is the big surprise?'' Harry giggled, sticking his arms out since Louis' hands were covering his eyes.
Louis laughed softly and pressed his lips against Harry's cheek. ''You'll see, princess. It's not anything major but I saw it and I just wanted to have it.''
Harry gasped when they stepped outside, Louis didn't warn him about the step. The younger boy grumbled and swatted Louis' arm, making Louis wince and chuckle.
He then took his hands away from Harry's eyes. ''Taadaa!''
Harry bit his bottom lips to suppress a smile. He placed his hands on his stomach and turned around to face Louis.
''You bought a swingset?''
Louis nodded quickly. ''Yeah, for our little munchkin. And, it's steady enough for us both to sit on so until then...''
The dom ran towards the swingset and plopped down on the swing, grinning at Harry, who was laughing under his breath.
Harry waddled towards his boyfriend, walking was a tad bit uncomfortable now. His back ached a lot, his ankles were a little swollen and of course, his tummy was getting bigger now.
Louis smiled and patted his lap when Harry was standing in front of him. The sub looked at the swingset with a questioning look in his eyes. He wasn't sure if it was safe for them to both sit on the swing.
''Baby, you're not that heavy yet. Now c' mere. I am sure that it'll hold. Besides, if it doesn't, you'll be sitting on top of me.'' Louis chuckled, making Harry scoff with a fond smile.
It was a bit difficult, but eventually, Harry managed to gently sit down on Louis' lap. He wrapped his arms around Louis' neck whereas Louis' hands were resting on his hips. His arms were securely wrapped around the chains of the swing, though. To make sure that they wouldn't fall.
''So, they're the size of a lemon now, huh?'' Louis said, eyeing Harry's stomach.
Harry nodded and pressed their forehead together, breathing out softly. He was rather tired at the moment. He had quite a lot on his mind lately, even though he was home most of the time.
Louis frowned at him and kissed his forehead gently. ''What's wrong, angel? What's bothering you?''
''It's nothing bad... I'm just,'' Harry took a deep breath and sat up straight. ''Do you remember the first time we slept together?''
Louis smirked and nodded. Harry laughed and swatted his arm, shaking his head and rolling his eyes. ''Not sexually, you doofus. I meant the first time I slept in your bed. After we watched the shining?''
The 26-year-old's expression became a little more serious, remembering that night very vividly.
''Do you remember what we talked about back then?'' Harry wondered quietly, playing with Louis' hair.
''I do. Do you mean what you said about being scared of love? About you not being able to give your own kids love because of your history?''
The sub nodded and closed his eyes. ''I am still terrified, Lou. I keep thinking about that and it just, it breaks my heart to think about our child growing up the way I did.''
Louis cupped Harry's face and shook his head. ''Baby, that's- Like I already said, your history doesn't define you as a person. I've seen the way you take care of Doris and Ernest. They adore you. Mum said that they ask for Hawwey all the time.''
A smile spread across Harry's face at the thought of Louis' youngest brother and sister. He adored them too. All of Louis' siblings to be honest.
''Back then you said that you were afraid that you couldn't love your future boyfriend either, no? Well, you love me, right?''
Harry nodded rapidly. ''So, so much, boo.''
Louis smiled and kissed his younger boyfriend sweetly. ''I know. And I love you with all my heart. So in the end, you being afraid of that was unnecessary. I am one hundred per cent sure that this will be the same. I see the way you care for others and how much love you give them. That won't be any different with our baby.''
Harry nodded slowly. He rested his head on Louis' shoulder and groaned. ''I overthink way too much.''
''Can't say that you don't, love. But parenthood is frightening. I am terrified as well.''
''You are?'' Harry said, looking up at Louis again.
The dom hummed and stroked Harry's cheek. ''Of course. I'm afraid that if it's a boy, I will not be masculine enough to teach him certain things. Or when it's a girl, that I will not know enough about girls.''
''But you grew up with younger sisters. You would know a lot more about girls than I do. And about the boy thing, you're a lot more masculine than I am. If anyone should worry about that, it'll be me.''
Louis laughed and pursed his lips. ''All I care about is that our baby is healthy and that they will love us. Not to mention that the most important things a parent can teach their child is to love, accept and help others. Parents need to make their child feel loved and help them love themselves. I am sure that we can do that. I'll do everything I can to be a good father and I'm certain that you will be the best mummy ever.''
Harry blushed and scoffed. ''I'm not a mummy, I am a boy.''
''That didn't stop you from being my princess, though.'' Louis pointed out, earning a glare from Harry.
''That's different. I am not a mummy.'' He said, sticking his nose into the air.
Louis held up his hands in surrender. ''That's fine by me. But you will always be my princess.''
Harry grinned and kissed Louis passionately. ''Wouldn't want to have it any other way.''
****
''Do you really have to go?'' Harry pouted, kissing Louis' cheek as Louis wrapped his arms around the younger's waist.
''Sorry, love. They need me at work. I'll be back in five hours tops, yeah? I promise.'' Louis said, hugging Harry closer to him.
Harry grumbled but nodded reluctantly. ''Send me a message when you're at work, okay?''
''I will, angel. I love you.'' Louis said and kissed Harry one last time before he walked out of the house. He waved at his boyfriend before he hopped into his Mercedes and drove away.
Harry pursed his lips and looked around the house, already way too bored. There wasn't much to do. Maybe Niall was willing to hang out. But the Irish lad didn't know he was pregnant yet. So it would be difficult to hide it.
Still, he snatched his phone from the coffee table and dialled Niall's number. He looked at the blanc television screen whilst he waited for his best friend to pick up the phone.
When he finally did, Niall giggled and said a quiet hello.
''Hey, Ni! Louis just left to go to work and I was wondering if you wanted to hang out?''
He heard a sad sigh from the other end of the line before Niall spoke up. ''Haz, I am so sorry! Jamie and I are at his parent's house right now.''
''Oh, really? I'm so sorry that I'm bothering you then!'' Harry gasped. ''Do they like you?''
''They're amazing people, H! Just like Jamie. You should meet him soon. Maybe we can come over tomorrow?'' Niall asked.
Harry hummed. Louis was free tomorrow as well, so that would be a great time. ''That's fine. Is two o'clock okay with you?''
''Amazing! We'll see you tomorrow then!'' Niall chirped.
Harry wished him a fun day before he hung up the phone, pouting at the wall. ''Guess it's just you and me, pumpkin.''
Harry would ask Ethan and Sarah to come over, but Sarah was little. At least, she was yesterday when Louis and he were at Ethan's house yesterday to ask him for advice about the ddlb thing whilst Harry was pregnant.
Ethan and Sarah were the first to know about Harry being pregnant. But they knew Ethan would understand and help them the best he could. And he did. Ethan was the best, to be honest.
Harry drummed his fingers against the armrest and sighed dramatically. He wasn't in the mood to read or watch a tv show so there wasn't much to do.
He just started scrolling through his Instagram and Pinterest feed to find some cute nursery ideas for when their baby was born.
Harry looked at the time and frowned. Louis left about 30 minutes ago. He hadn't received a single text or call yet.
The boy opened WhatsApp, frowning when he saw nothing there. Not one message or emoji. An odd feeling formed in his lower gut. He didn't like it when Louis didn't text him.
Maybe the older lad was stuck in traffic. He left during rush hour so maybe that's why it was taking him so long. Still, Harry decided to send him a little message.
Harry: Hey Lou! Don't forget to send me a message when you arrive at work, please?
Harry: I'm already being silly because I am worried about you when you're probably stuck in traffic but still...
Harry: I love you!
Harry bit his nail and anxiously watched the little checkmarks beside the messages. There were two but they never turned blue.
Not after 10 minutes, not after 15 minutes and not even after 20 minutes.
By now, Harry was pacing through the room, tears brimming his vision. He had to calm himself down a little because all the stress was bad for the baby but he truly couldn't help it.
He picked up his phone and dialled Louis' number, crossing his fingers in the hopes that Louis would pick up and tell him that he was very busy and that he was sorry about not texting.
However, Louis' voicemail filled the quiet living room after a few rings.
Harry swallowed thickly, dread filling his body. It got harder and harder for him to breathe and his head was pounding. He sat down on the couch, mumbling softly with his head in his hands.
Bambi hopped onto the couch, trying to get Harry to play with her, but the boy pushed her away gently.
''Not now, baby,'' He whispered. ''Maybe later, okay?''
Of course, Bambi didn't understand and kept licking him until Harry snapped at her.
''Bambi, stop. Bad girl.'' He hissed.
Bambi hopped off of the couch and walked away, knowing that she crossed a line though she wasn't really bothered by it.
However, Harry felt guilty instantly. He dropped onto his knees gently and called her back, cuddling her body close when Bambi carefully jumped onto his legs.
''I'm sorry, baby. I'm just a little-'' Harry was cut off by his ringtone blaring through the room.
He stood up and walked towards his phone, picking up the device with shaking hands. He looked at the caller idea, heart sinking when it said the word unknown.
He still picked up, closing his eyes before speaking. ''He-hello? Harry Styles speaking.''
A soft voice came from the other end of the line, an unfamiliar male voice. ''Hello, this is Bryan Allen from the police department. Are you mister Tomlinson emergency contact?''
''I-I am, yes. I'm his- his boyfriend...''
''I have some bad news, Mister Styles. Your boyfriend was in an accident, he's currently at St. Thomas's hospital.''
Harry fell down on the couch and whined under his breath, listening to Bryan telling his something about the accident. He couldn't say that he was surprised but the news still made the world crumble around him.
Bryan stopped talking and Harry realised he barely picked up anything the man said. ''I-I'm sorry, I- Is he al-alive, I-I-''
''Mister Tomlinson is alive. They're currently seeing if he has any internal bleedings or broken bones. The doctors can't tell how serious it is yet.'' Bryan said quietly.
Harry could hear the sympathy through the phone and it made him want to throw up. Louis could be dying right now and Harry wasn't there with him.
Hot waves crashed through Harry's body as he tried to steady his breathing. Bryan told him that he could come to the hospital and that they hoped to have some results within the next hour or two.
He advised Harry not to drive there himself and to call someone who could bring him before he hung up.
Harry placed a hand over his mouth and sobbed behind it, tears running down his flushed cheeks. He looked up at the ceiling and thought about who he could call.
Niall was with Jamie, Ethan had Sarah so he couldn't leave her, Harry was still not on speaking terms with Liam, his mother and Robin lived more than an hour away from him.
How the universe planned it was a miracle to Harry but all the servants had a day off as well. Since Harry and Louis only used a few rooms of the big house, Louis often gave them a day off. This was very inconvenient right now, though.
Harry cried out and grabbed his phone again, scrolling through his contacts. Most of them were from work or from people who he wasn't that close to.
That was until he scrolled back up and stopped at the C. His eyes teared up and he bit his lip harshly. The only person who would care enough about Louis' wellbeing was the one person Harry didn't like.
The phone number he saved just in case he saw it flash across Louis' screen one day. He didn't want to ask Charlie for help. But what else could he do?
Harry pressed Charlie's name and placed the phone against his ear. He waited patiently until Charlie picked up with a groggy voice.
''Hello, this is Charlie!'' He chirped.
Harry sniffled and took a deep breath. ''Uhm, h-hi Charlie...''
''Harry?'' Charlie questioned. ''What- What's wrong?''
''Charlie, Louis was in an accident. He's at St, Thomas' hospital and I ca-can't drive there now I-I-''
''Shit, Harry. Fuck, I'll pick you up right now, okay? Don't panic just try to drink something and prepare a bag of clothes. You never know how long you have to wait in the hospital before he wakes up. I'm on my way, okay?'' Then Charlie hung up.
Harry was absolutely gobsmacked. Did Charlie really just drop everything to help him?
The sub did as Charlie suggested, preparing a bag with a clean shirt and a clean pair of boxer briefs. He also stuffed some of Louis' clothes into a bag and waited until Charlie would arrive.
He opened the gates for Louis' ex when the boy arrived. Then Harry kissed Bambi and locked the door, hopping into Charlie's car when he stopped in front of him.
Charlie drove away as soon as Harry buckled up. The blonde boy looked at Harry with worried eyes.
''I-Is he uhm... Is Louis al-''
''They said that he was alive b-but they don't know much about his condition yet.'' Harry rasped out, grabbing his phone to send Niall a text, asking him to look after Bambi and where Louis hid the key to their house.
Charlie hummed. They drove in silence until Harry started sobbing again. He couldn't help it, really.
Charlie sighed and spoke softly: ''It'll be alright, Harry.''
''N-No, it's not going to be alright,'' Harry sobbed. ''Louis could be dying right now and I-I am pregnant with his child. What if he dies, huh? Where does that leave me? In a huge house where I have to raise a baby on my own. He can't die, Charlie. He just can't!''
Charlie seemed quite shocked. Harry just blurted out that he was pregnant, which was probably not something the younger boy wanted to say.
The blonde boy scratched his chin as he drove onto the highway. ''H-hey, uhm... can I tell you a story?''
Harry sniffled and placed his head against the cold window, not giving Charlie an answer.
However, the boy still started talking. ''You know that Louis and I go way back, right? Like, I've known him since we were children.''
Harry huffed, already regretting his decision to let Charlie drive him to the hospital.
''Anyway, When Louis was 12 and I was 9, w-we made a huge treehouse and we used to play there every day. One day, we were playing there again and Louis fell out of that tree. The treehouse was quite high and he made a big fall. I climbed down the ladder as fast as I could and I started bawling my eyes out when I saw Louis on the floor. Blood was dripping down his face and his wrist was just pointing in an odd direction.''
Harry looked at his boyfriend's ex and started paying more attention to the story.
Charlie swallowed. ''I saw how much it was hurting him and how scared he was. His eyes were unfocused and he was so pale. But he told me not to worry. He said that everything would be fine and that I shouldn't cry. Louis just asked me to bring him home or to call him mum.''
The boy chuckled and shook his head. ''The idiot had a severe concussion, a broken wrist and a dislocated shoulder and he walked home himself, trying to comfort me. Someone who wasn't even hurt.''
"What are you trying to say?" Harry asked softly.
Charlie smiled at Harry and took his hand when he stopped in front of a red light. "What I'm trying to say is that Louis is a tough one. He will fight for his life especially if he has something to return for. And let me tell you, you are definitely his something. He loves you so so much, I'm sure you know that."
Harry smiled and sniffled wetly at Charlie's words. He's been such a douchebag to Charlie when the older boy never had any ill intentions. It made him feel awful.
"He'll survive, Harry. I'm sure he will." Charlie said before he pulled up.
"Thank you, Charlie. I just hope that he will be alright."
''He will be. I mean come one, it's Louis, right?'' Charlie said and he laughed under his breath.
Harry nodded with a smile, he wiped away his tears and looked at Charlie. The older boy was already looking at him with a reassuring look on his face.
''It will be okay. I'll be here whenever you need help. With you, I mean Louis and you.''
Harry nodded. ''Thank you, Charlie. Maybe you're not as bad as I thought you were...''
''Don't judge too soon, eh, Styles. You don't know what kind of stunt I will pull once Louis wakes up.'' Charlie joked, earning a playful slap against his arm from Harry.
Charlie laughed and pursed his lips. ''So... you're pregnant? That's awesome. How far along are you?''
Harry swallowed and sighed. ''I'm 13 weeks along.''
''Wow, congratulations. Jesus, Louis is one lucky man. I wish I could get pregnant.''
''Wait, really?'' Harry asked, eyes bewildered.
Charlie nodded quickly. ''I would love to have a child that is really mine. Not to mention that being pregnant seems so nice. Knowing that there's a new life growing within you. I-I don't know.''
The oldest boy blushed and looked at Harry again as he drove towards the hospital. ''You probably think that I'm crazy, don't you.''
Harry shook his head slowly. ''No, I- I thought about it like that too. That was until I found out that I could, in fact, get pregnant.''
''I think it's great.'' Charlie hummed and pulled up in front of the hospital.
Harry sighed shakily and bit his lip.
''Are you ready to go?'' Charlie asked softly.
Harry nodded and stepped out of the car, swinging his bag over his shoulder. Charlie stepped out as well and walked up to Harry.
''Do you want me here or would you prefer it if I left?'' He asked, not wanting to make Harry feel uncomfortable.
''Stay, please? I don't want to be alone.'' Harry squeaked.
Charlie nodded and offered to carry Harry's bag. The two walked into the hospital, Harry asking for Louis Tomlinson at the desk.
The lady told him which department they had to go to before helping the people behind Harry and Charlie.
Charlie placed a hand on Harry's shoulder and led them towards the department. Both boys were rather anxious and they couldn't wait until someone gave them an update on Louis' condition.
Harry made sure the receptionist of the department knew he was here and what his whereabouts were before he sat down on one of the uncomfortable hospital chairs.
His bottom lips trembled and his stomach churned when he saw people look at him with sympathetic stares. It was like everyone was already telling him that Louis would not be fine at all.
He suddenly felt an arm around him. His head shot up and he looked into Charlie's sad blue eyes. ''Would you like a hug, buddy?''
Harry sniffled and nodded slowly, allowing Charlie to hug him tightly. This was such an odd situation. Who lets their boyfriend's ex hug them? That's right, no one!
But still, here he was, sobbing into Charlie's shirt as Charlie rocked them from side to side.
Two hours later, Harry was sleeping against the older boy his shoulder. Charlie kept stroking Harry's back, making sure that the boy was okay.
He thought this was the least he could do after what happened last time Harry saw him. Besides, he owed Louis to look after his boyfriend. He was the one who cheated on Louis and was almost the reason Louis lost his new boyfriend.
Charlie saw the way Louis looked at Harry and the way Harry looked at Louis. He couldn't help but feel fond over the two boys. He'd never seen two people love each other that much and he wouldn't dare come between them. Even though he already did. Sort of.
''Mister Styles?'' A voice called from the desk next to the waiting room.
Charlie shook Harry's shoulder and pointed at the desk when Harry looked at him warily. The 19-year-old was to his feet instantly and rushed towards the desk, where a man in a white coat smiled gently at him.
''Hello, mister Styles. I am doctor Hayes. I am here to inform you that your boyfriend, Louis Tomlinson is in a stable condition.''
Harry cried out in relief, leaning against the desk slightly when he felt a heavyweight lift from his shoulder. ''H-How- What-''
''His ankle is broken and so is his collarbone. Furthermore, he has a slight concussion, some cuts and bruises and he is still asleep due to anaesthetic right now. There were no signs of internal bleedings but we want to keep him here for a few nights just in case.'' The doctor explained as Charlie walked up beside them.
''Can we see him?'' Harry asked quietly, hoping that they could.
The doctor nodded before he looked at Charlie. ''Only family members or well... boyfriends.''
And no. Harry was not having it. Charlie didn't drive him here, comfort him and help him only to be sent away now.
''Sorry, doctor Hayes I am just,'' Harry coughed. ''Look, we're kind of... The three of us are together...''
The doctor's eyes widened and he looked at Charlie with a raised eyebrow. ''You mean, in a relationship?''
Harry nodded and grabbed Charlie's hand. ''Only recently so Charlie is not saved as Louis' emergency contact yet but we love each other and it would kill him if he couldn't see his boyfriend right now.''
''Mister Styles, I'm afraid I can't-''
''Is it because we're three boys instead of two? Or is it just because we're boys in general? Are you homophobic, doctor?'' Charlie said, trying to guilt-trip the doctor.
The man shook his head quickly. ''No, of course not! Y-You can go in. Both of you. I fully support your uhm... relationship.''
The doctor smiled awkwardly and told the boys in which room Louis was before he started talking to the receptionist, his head bright red.
Harry pulled Charlie towards Louis' room, giggling under his breath.
''Oh my God, I can't believe you said that!'' Charlie hissed, squeezing Harry's hand.
''Come on, Charlie. I wouldn't leave you out there after what you did for me.''
''Harry, you don't owe me anything, okay?'' Charlied said and let go of Harry's hand as they walked into Louis' room.
Harry smile instantly fell and he swallowed thickly. Louis was so pale. His face was bruised, there was a cast around his foot and a sling around his shoulder.
The sub slowly walked towards his boyfriend, pulling a chair towards the bed before he sat down. He sighed heavily, eyes tearing up when he looked at Louis' face.
He looked terrible. Nearly dead.
Charlie placed a hand on Harry's shoulder. ''I know we just bitched against that doctor, but perhaps you want to be alone for a second?''
Harry sniffled and nodded. ''I-I'm sorry, Charlie I just-''
''Don't apologise, H! I totally understand. I'll be in the waiting room if you need me, okay?'' Charlie whispered.
''What about doctor Hayes, though?'' Harry asked.
The dirty-blonde shrugged. ''I'll think of something.''
Then he smiled and left the room, leaving Harry alone with Louis.
Harry reached out carefully and grabbed Louis' hand which was laying on his stomach. ''Hi, Lou...''
He let out a dry sob in relief and stroked his thumb over Louis' wrist. ''You scared me to death today, you idiot. I hope that you can hear me when I say this, but I love you so so much.''
He felt Louis squeeze his hand, but the older lad's eyes didn't open. He was probably too tired to open them but it was a sign that he could hear Harry and that made the younger boy's heart flutter.
''Wake up soon, love. I'll be here when you wake up. I promise.''
