Thirty-one
The bell chimed as we opened the door of the Diner that was beside the bowling club. There were few people inside and we went towards the table in the corner, which was big enough for all of us.
I slowed my pace to let the others sit first. I watched Noah settling and was about to go beside him when Natasha called me out.
"Lexi, you sit first with Jax." I glanced at her as she smiled at me. I forced a smile back but died and sat beside Jax with Natasha on my left and Jim beside her.
Kevin, Emily, Noah, and Darren sat in the front. I took deep breaths, trying the calm myself as I chanted the words in my head.
Don't be angry at her.
She doesn't know the truth.
She's being a friend and helping you sit with your 'boyfriend'.
She doesn't know that it's fake.
"Hello everyone." A blonde girl came to us with a beautiful smile. "I'm Ava and I'll be your waitress, here are your menus." She gave us four menus. "What do you guys want for a drink?"
Everyone ordered their drinks, and before I could open my mouth, Jax ordered for me.
"We'll have two strawberry shakes with whipping cream and cherry on the top." I looked at Jax in disbelief, he darted his eyes to mine and smiled. "It's your favorite, I know."
O-kay. So now he knows my drink.
"Yeah," I answered him, blinking in surprise.
"I'll go get your drinks and let you decide your orders." With that, she left.
"Since Jim and Jax are paying." Kevin grinned, opening his menu. "Feel free to order whatever you want people!"
I rolled my eyes at him and looked at the menu. "What do you want?" Jax asked, flipping through the pages.
"I'll eat a burger," I said, leaning back in my seat and pushed the menu towards Jax. "I haven't eaten since morning."
I was so bothered about Kevin's plan for today that I ate nothing.
"Okay." He murmured, looking at the menu.
I glimpsed in front, where Noah sat looking at the menu with Darren beside him, I narrowed my eyes at Darren.
He's lucky that he got to sit with Noah and he-
My eyes widened for a second at my thoughts.
WTF?! Now I'm getting jealous of Darren!
I squeezed my eyes shut and counted in my head to distract it. The waitress came back with our drinks. "Are you all ready to order?" Everyone gave their order, including Kevin's long a** list.
I took my shake and licked my lips at the sight of whipping cream. It's been so long since I last drink this much fat, had to take care of my body for cheerleading.
I took the straw into my mouth and sipped it. I quietly moaned at the heavenly taste of it as it went down my throat.
Delicious!
"I just got an amazing idea," Kevin said, getting everyone's attention when Ava left us.
"What?" Jax asked, leaning his elbows on the table.
"Losers one are already doing their task." Jim and Jax growled at him but he continued. "Now for the slave part." He gave Noah and Darren a sly grin. "I'm throwing a party at my house on Saturday for my victory, and you two-" He gestured between them. "Are going to be my waitresses." I choked on my drink when Kevin finished.
Did he just say 'waitresses'?!
I slammed my fist on my chest, trying to control my breath as Jax rubbed my back.
Shit! This is the second time!
Is Kevin trying to kill me or something?!
Finally calming myself down, I took deep breaths, my eyes filled with water. I took the tissue from the box that was on the table and cleaned my face.
"What is happening with you, Lexi? That's not very Ladylike." I glared at him as he smirked.
He's still not done with his games.
"What do you exactly mean by waitresses?" Darren hesitated from his place.
"It means exactly what's going in your head, Darren," Kevin replied, making him go pale.
I glanced at Noah who was in his place calmly not even paying attention to Kevin.
"WTH Kevin." I snapped at him. "Waitresses? Are you serious?"
"What? They lose, so they do whatever I say."
"We won, Kevin," I smirked at him. "They'll do what I say too, and they will not be your waitresses."
"Why are you being so sensitive?" My shoulders stiffened as everyone gazed at me. "It's just a joke."
"I-I..." I trailed off under their gaze. Then Ava came to my rescue with our orders.
"Here's your order." She placed it on our table and politely smiled at us. "Enjoy."
I gave her a grateful smile and took my burger and before anyone could get back to my embarrassing moment; I changed the topic. "I heard you and Vanessa broke up." I darted my gaze at Darren.
Emily kicked my leg under the table making me flinch but I kept my head straight looking at Darren.
"Y-yeah." His shoulders tensed as he uncomfortably shifted in his seat. "How do you know that?" He asked me, darting his eyes at Emily.
"Oh, you know." I unwrapped my burger. "Gossip and rumors are a part of high school. I heard some girls talking about it in the bathroom today." I lied. I didn't want him to think Emily told me.
"Oh." He said, relaxing in his seat again. "Um... yeah we did."
"I saw you guys fighting at the homecoming too." I took a bite of my burger. Everyone else also seemed interested in our conversation and totally forgot about the previous one.
He nodded his head. "She accused me of cheating on her."
"No way!" I gasped with everyone else.
"Yw an' chwtin'?!" Kevin screamed, with his mouth full.
I didn't know him that long, but I could tell he wasn't a guy to do such a thing. "Does she have any proof?" Jax asked.
"No." He murmured and discreetly glanced at Emily. No one else noticed it except me.
I get it now!
He must be talking to Emily since they became partners in Home Ec. and Vanessa must have thought it the wrong way. Because I know for a fact that my Emily would never do it.
"It's a good thing that you guys broke up."
Everyone turned their heads towards me. "It is?" Kevin asked, narrowing his eyes at me.
I smiled at Darren. "You wouldn't have wanted to spend the rest of your life with a poisonous creature."
"W-hat?" He frowned in confusion, Emily covered her mouth, giggling.
"What I mean is... that you're a good guy and you deserve better." His face turned red, and he ducked his head down. "And you're so cute!" I cooed him.
"He is what?!" Jim exclaimed from beside me.
"Lexi..." Natasha leaned in my ear and whispered. "Do you think it's a good idea to call another guy cute in front of your boyfriend?"
I turned my head towards Jax, who was already done eating. "You agree right?"
"What?" His brows knitted in confusion.
"That Darren's cute." I blinked my lashes at him.
"Yeah...?" He answered, unsure of himself.
"See!" I beamed, looking back at Darren. He returned my smile.
My eyes went to Noah, who was already looking at me in amusement with his twinkling green eyes. Somehow feeling shy by his gaze, I averted my eyes and focused on my burger again.
Me? Feeling shy?
Noah has been making me feel weird emotions all the time, and the fun fact is that he doesn't even know about it.
When we were done eating, Jax and Jim got to pay for the meal and Kevin stayed with them to get more food parcels while we went outside.
He's seriously taking advantage of this.
I shivered as the icy wind blew and tightened my crop sweater around me. I looked at the dark sky, glistening with stars. It was mid-September, and the weather was getting cold in Pinewood, especially at night.
"Here." I glanced at Noah as he extended his jacket. "You look cold."
Aww!
"I-uh..." I glanced around and saw Natasha already in Jim's car, and Emily and Darren were walking towards his car. "Thanks." I gladly took the jacket from him. I was already feeling warm from inside even before wearing his jacket.
"What about you?" I eyed Noah's full sleeve shirt, but he must have felt cold.
"I'm good." He shrugged.
I bit my lip to stop the stupid grin that was forcing itself on my face, but I couldn't control the giddiness as I wrapped it around me. My body immediately relaxed from the warmth of his jacket. I didn't know how to describe the fuzzy feeling I was getting from it.
"Dude, the deal was to pay for tonight's meal. Why did you order this much?!" I turned my head towards Jim, who was complaining. I chuckled at the bags in Kevin's hand.
"These are my meal for tonight," Kevin smirked at him.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Noah said.
"Okay." I smiled as I watch him walk backward to Darren's car. "Bye Noah." I waved my fingers.
"Bye Lexi." He gave me his radiant smile, making my stomach flip.
Oh boy, that smile!

Hello peeps,
I know it's been long since I last updated (3 days) and it feels like an eternity to me.🙅
There is good news and bad news.
Starting with the bad news, my exams are starting 😖 bummer! And because of that, I won't be able to update as frequently as I use to do.
But... The good news is that I've written few Chapters ahead so I'll be updating them slowly till my exams and after that, I'll get back on my track with daily updates!
Till then,
Stay safe.
Ciao ❤️
