I couldn't get rid of Noah's expressions the entire weekend. To keep my mind off him, I called Emily for a girl's night on Sunday. I always called her to stay the night and she would come happily. Her parents knew me well, and they let her stay at my house whenever she wanted.
"When's your dad coming back?" Emily asked, applying her toe paint.
"IDK," I muttered so I wouldn't crack my egg mask as I lay on my bed peacefully.
My dad's never been home lately. He's a lawyer and always goes to different cities and states for his cases. He's a well-known and demanded lawyer. Since my mom left us, he buried himself in his work and that was his way to cope, I think.
He's always busy and I didn't mind it because I also kept myself occupied. Either I'm shopping or in a salon. Cooking all day, or going on long drives alone. Most of the time I'm at Kevin's house or call Emily here.
A maid would come by when I'm in high school to do chores and clean the house and leave before I come back. Otherwise, the entire house is empty.
"Can I ask you something?" Emily asked cautiously.
"You just did," I smirked but wince when my mask stretched.
"Ha, ha. Hilarious." She rolled her eyes at me, then got serious. "Why are you helping Jax?" I got up and went to the bathroom to wash my mask and Emily continued. "What's in it for you? Because I know for a fact that you would never help him get Ivy. I want to know the real reason behind it."
I finished washing my face and grabbed a towel. Patting my face, I exit the bathroom and stood in front of my full-length mirror.
"You are getting smarter in my influence, Em," I smirked as I observed my face.
Egg masks really help.
She remained silent waiting for me to continue. "I'm obviously not stupid to help him get that bit*h. I am doing it for my benefit."
"What benefit?" She tilted her head.
"To make my way into Jax's heart." I grinned at confused-looking Emily. "He thinks that I'm helping him to get Ivy when I'm going to do the total opposite."
"How?"
Pacing my room, I explained to Emily my true intentions.
"This 'deal' is the only reason he's talking to me. I'll act like a cupid and make him believe that I'm helping him to get Ivy. But in reality, I'll make him realize how much better I'm than her." I finished beaming at Emily. "And once I'll open his eyes..." I flipped my hair. "He'll forget that bit*h and will fall in love with me."
"It's like killing two birds with one stone." Emily interpreted everything I said. "Get on Ivy's nerves and make Jax fall for you."
"We have seen so many movies and it's like a universal thing now. When a guy and girl pretend to date..." I waved my hands while explaining to her. "They actually fall in love with each other. I already like Jax and now this way, he'll fall for me." I concluded and plopped on my bed.
"You think it will work?" She raised her brows.
"It always works." I beamed.

I parked my Mustang Shelby in my usual spot in the Pinewood High parking area. I got out of my car and slammed the door closed. Adjusting my pink crop top I wore with black jeans, I glanced at myself one last time in the side mirror and turned towards Emily, who got out of the passenger seat.
"Ready?" She smiled and nodded.
We strode towards Pinewood High and everyone around us watched us and whispered among themselves.
"Guess everyone found out about your make-out session," Emily said, observing them.
I smirked and continued walking when I saw Kevin standing in front of the high school gate with narrowed eyes, his fists clenched at his side, looking furiously at me.
"Why does he look angry?" Emily hesitated, also noticing Kevin.
"Let's find out." I kept my perfect smile on my face, not getting fazed by his intense glare. "Kevin!" I greeted him and pinched his cheeks. "My cutie angry bird."
He swept my hands from his cheeks. "What the f**k, Lexi?!" He gritted through his teeth. "You made out with Jax, in my room!"
"I did?" Acting confused, I looked between Emily and him. "I think you're still having a hangover."
"Don't play dumb with me, Lexi." He hissed, grabbing my arm, and pulled me closer. "I know you and your little games, so tell me why?"
I rolled my eyes and glared at him. "Maybe I did, or maybe not." He opened his mouth, but I put my finger on his lips, stopping him. "I can kiss whoever I want, Kevin."
He let go of my arm and shook his head. "He's only messing with you, Lexi. Don't repeat the past."
I patted his shoulder and whispered. "I know what I'm doing." With that, I went inside with Emily following me.
"Why won't you tell him the truth?"
"You know how he is, Em." I ascended the stairs. "If he finds out about what Jax offered me... There will be world war three."
"You know he cares about you." She whispered as we walked towards our class.
"I know, and that's why I'm keeping it from him."

At lunchtime, I went to Jax's locker and saw him busy putting his books in. I reached him and leaned my shoulder on the locker beside him.
"How did it go?" I questioned.
He closed the locker and showed me his huge grin with sparkling eyes. "It. Was. Epic." He drawled and chuckled. "She was totally out of it!"
"What happened?" I wiggled my brows.
I was dying to know what Ivy said after our 'make-out' session.
"When I reached downstairs. Everyone stared at me like they were already aware of what we did." He leaned his shoulder on the locker next to me and gave me a smug grin. "Except that they didn't know the truth."
"That was bound to happen." I blew my fingernails and buffed them on my shirt with attitude. "I'm convincing."
"Oh, you are." He chuckled. "Ivy totally bought it. I mean, I didn't even say anything and she started shouting at me that how could I do this to her..." I raised my brow but let him continue. "I told her I didn't do anything wrong because people kiss when they're dating each other."
Calmly, I nodded my head, but inside I was celebrating my victory. It was just phase three. Ivy will blow up when Jax will forget about her and be with me.
"How did she respond to that?"
"She hasn't talked to me since then." He sighed in frustration. "I have tried so many times, but she kept ignoring me. Now I don't know what to do."
"Nothing." I hurried, and his brows dipped in confusion.
"Why?"
"If you try hard to get her, she'll think that this..." I gestured between us. "Means nothing. But we want her to think that it's real. Right?" I looked at him seriously.
He has to learn to let her go or any of this won't be useful for me.
"But she won't talk to me-"
"Let it be like that, Jax." I put my hand on his shoulder and squeezed it. "Stay strong and make her come to you. Not the other way around." I appealed.
"But..." He looked deep into his thoughts and I added.
"If you give in now..." Leaning closer, I whispered. "Then all of our hard work will be wasted, and she'll never be with you." I insisted, looking at him softly.
Please listen to me, Jax.
He quietly stared at me and then nodded. "Fine."
Sighing in relief, I gave him my sweetest smile and patted his shoulder. "You'll get who you deserve to be with, Jax. You just need to be patient." With that, I turned on my heels and ambled towards the Cafeteria.
"Lexi!" He shouted, making me halt. I whirled my head and saw him grinning at me. "Thank you... For helping me."
"Don't thank me yet," I smirked and turned around.
Things are about to get more interesting.
