Forty-three
Noah and I spend the rest of the time together in the treehouse talking about our days there, my mom and his parents.
The reason Noah took Home Ec. was because of what happened to his father. After his accident he was in bed for months, his lower body couldn't work properly and his mom had to do a job to pay the bills.
She didn't allow Noah to do anything because she wanted him to concentrate on his studies. While his mom was out working, Noah used to do house chores and he was terrible at it, so that was why he took this class, so he could at least learn to do some work.
I told him about my mommy and the time I spend in New York with my parents. I studied my two years privately because I didn't want to leave my mommy's side.
Even though she was in bed and weak, she still helped me with my work and we used to play games and watch cooking shows together just to take our minds off the situation.
It really hurt me to see her with all those machines and long tubes in his hands and nose, but I knew she was strong and wanted me to be too, that's why I never gave up.
I told him about my dad and his busy days and how he cope up with mommy's death by working all day and night.
After our chat, Emily called asking about my whereabouts, so I told her the location of the treehouse. She came there with Darren and Kevin.
"Seriously?" Kevin said, looking around the treehouse and scowled. "This was the only place you could think of." He huffed.
I ignored him and went towards him, hugging him tightly. "Thank you for beating Jax, but it wasn't necessary to beat him to a pulp."
"He deserved it." He scoffed, then gave me a lopsided grin. "Besides, I had fun. I always wanted to do that." I chuckled and kissed his cheek.
"We brought pizza too." Darren grinned and as of cue, our bellies grumbled.
We ate and talked about different stuff when out of the blue Kevin asked Noah.
"You still play guitar?" I mid-paused in my bit and looked between them wide-eyed.
"A little," Noah murmured, lightly shrugging his shoulder.
"How the hell do you know about it?" I asked Kevin.
"He learned from my uncle." He said in a duh tone.
I opened and closed my mouth, looking between them. Kevin looked at my curious face and continued.
"After you left for New York, I was kind of alone. I hated Jax's guts and Ivy bit*hiness but Noah and stayed in touch. We spend that summer together and used to learn guitar from my uncle. I couldn't learn it well since I was interested in outdoor sports, but Noah continued to learn."
"And you never told me this before because...?" I trailed off, raising my eyebrow at him.
"Because you weren't interested." He smirked. My eyes grew enormous, and I cast a glance at Noah, who sat with his head ducked.
I turned my angry gaze turned Kevin who gave me a sly smile.
A**hole.
Emily changed the topic, getting us out of the awkward situation, and told us about the situation in high school. Half of the school was on my side saying what Jax did was worse and some thought it was a drunken mistake I should forgive him.
They didn't know about the truth and I didn't hate Jax for sleeping with Ivy, because for all I care he could sleep with anyone he wanted, but I was mad that he should have at least ended it between us first and we could have avoided this situation.

The next day Noah and I had our Home Ec. practical, and we aced it, like I said before Miss Maddox was blown.
Our teamwork impressed her because we were terrible at it at the beginning of the year, but we thrilled her with the result and praised us, which kinda surprised me.
The next two weeks went by in a blur because of our mid-exams. At lunch, I sat with my friends- real ones- on a separate table in the corner. That side was for the weirdos, but I didn't care about any of that as long as I got to sit with Noah. Kevin also ditched everyone and sat with us.
Natasha once came to apologize that it wasn't her intention to tell everyone about it, I gave her my sweetest smile and flipped the bird at her.
Jax came to school after a few days looking better and he was still friends with Jim and Natasha as they all sit at the popular table. Not that I cared about it now.
As for Ivy, I really felt bad for her. She was being slut-shame by everyone and was alone now. Even Vanessa turned her back on her, and what else could you expect from a cunning viper.
Ivy was really drunk that night and maybe if I turned around to help her, this would have not happened, but then again she brought this on herself.

After our exams finished, I told Noah that I wanted to take him somewhere and asked him to get ready.
I parked my car outside Noah's house and went towards the door. I wore a black off-shoulder full sleeves top with grey jeans and black chunky boots.
As soon as I knocked, Mrs. Stone opened the door and pulled me into a bear hug.
"Oh Lexi, it's so good to see you again." I giggled and hugged her back. "How long it's been since you last came?" She asked, letting go of me.
"Two weeks ago."
"And it feels like years." She mumbled pulling me in. "Noah, Lexi's here!" She yelled at the stairs and took me to the living room. "How were your exams?"
"Good," I told her about the struggle is go through for Calculus. I hate that subject.
Mr. Stone came from his room a few minutes later, and we watched Tom and Jerry while we waited for Noah. We used to watch it right when I was a kid and maybe some things never change with time.
"I'm here!" Noah announced, heaving. I turned around and smiled when I saw him. He looked fresh like he just took a shower and his hair was still wet falling over his eyes. "Sorry, I'm late." He murmured, scratching his hair.
My eyes raked over his check over-shirt under which he wore a white T-shirt with black pants and shoes.
"When you spend hours looking for what to wear, that's bound to happen, son." His dad teased him.
"Dad!" Noah looked at his dad bug-eyed, heat crawling up his neck making me giggle.
They are so cute!
"What?" Mr. Stone acted obliviously. "Was that a secret I was supposed to keep?" He glanced at me and winked.
Noah grumbled and grabbed my arm, pulling me up from the couch. "We should go." He gave me a pleading look.
"Okay." I giggled and turned towards his parents. "Goodbye, Mr. and Mrs. Stone. I'll see you guys later."
"Bye." They waved their hands as we walked towards the door but halted in our steps when Mrs. Stone said. "Good luck with your date!"
Wait... Date?
I glanced at Noah, who looked flushed. "Mom, I told you already. This is not a date!" Noah grunted.
"Oh!" Mrs. Stone put a hand over her mouth, acting surprised. "I'm sorry. After seeing you anxious all day, I thought you were going on a date." She gave us a sly smile.
Noah narrowed his eyes at her and was about to open his mouth, but I beat him to it. "I just wanted to show someplace to Noah." I gave them a smile.
"Of course dear have fun." She gave us a smile. "But not too much." I bit my lip, trying to stop the grin that was threatening to take over my face.
"Mom!" Noah whined and grabbed my arm running out of his house. I heard his parents laughing behind us. "They don't know when to stop." He murmured as we reached my car.
"Don't be grumpy, Noah." I chuckled. "They are just teasing you."
"I know." He mumbled, taking his guitar case off the shoulder. "Why did you asked me to bring my guitar?" He asked, putting it in the back seat.
"You'll see." I beamed and went towards the driver's seat.
This is going to be fun!
