Forty-six

"This one... or this." I showed my two outfits to Emily.

We were on video chat because I was having a problem with what to wear. It was Sunday, and Noah would be here soon, so I had to get ready before that.

"Since you will be at home all day... I think the pink one will look good." Emily answered.

I looked at the pink sweater top with black leggings. "Excellent choice." I smiled, then went to my bathroom.

I unwrapped my towel and wore the clothes when Emily asked. "Are you going to tell him?"

"About what?"

"That you like him."

"How do I look?" I posed in front of the camera.

"Great." Emily beamed, then gave me a serious look. "Now answer my question."

"IDK, but definitely not today," I mumbled, combing my hair.

"Why?"

"Because I broke up with Jax like... two weeks ago, I don't want Noah to think that he's a rebound or something," I replied putting on my makeup.

"But you weren't exactly dating Jax."

"Noah doesn't know that."

"So tell him."

"No!" I turned towards confused-looking Emily. "I will not tell him about that."

"But why?"

"Because I don't want him to think of me as..." I waved my hands, thinking of a proper word.

"As...?"

"It will not make me look... good that I was fake dating Jax all this time to get him to fall for me and to make Ivy jealous."

"But Lexi-"

"You won't tell anyone, promise me Em." I gave her my best serious look.

She pondered on it, then sighed. "Fine, but I think you should tell him."

"I will, but first I have to find about the 'girl' he likes."

"I don't think there is a girl."

My brows knitted in confusion. "Noah wouldn't lie to me."

"Then why doesn't he tell you the name of that girl."

I shrugged, looking at myself in the mirror. "I'll try to find her name today." I beamed when I heard the doorbell. "He's here, I'll talk to you later." I hung up and ran downstairs to open the door, but dad beat me to it.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Wolf." Noah greeted dad and extended his hand. "I'm here for-"

"Lexi already told me about you." Dad watched him with a calculated gaze and gripped his hand tightly. "It's nice to see you again as a grown man."

I rolled my eyes at my dad's comment.

"Hi Noah, come in." I invited him cause dad didn't look like he wanted to.

Dad looked deadpan at Noah, then step aside, giving him space to enter. "Hi," Noah mumbled, standing beside me.

We sat in the living room as dad interrogated Noah. He asked him about what he did in the past, about his future plans, about the singing competition while I sat there quietly, looking between them. Noah looked confident while answering him and didn't stutter once. It looked like dad was taking his interview.

Maybe... it wasn't a good idea to bring Noah home.

"Ok!" I interrupted them. "I think that's enough for today." I glanced at dad and plastered a smile on my face. "We have to practice songs so... Ciao." I grabbed Noah's hand and dragged him upstairs.

"I'll be watching so no funny business!" Dad yelled behind us, I rolled my eyes at him and entered my room.

"Ignore my daddy," I said, plopping onto my bed.

"That's really hard to do after the look he gave me," Noah mumbled, sitting on the beanbag.

"What look?" I asked curiously, tilting my head.

"The look every dad gave to a guy when her daughter invites him to her house." Noah shivered, I burst out laughing. "Trust me, you don't want to be on the receiving side."

"Ok..." I bit my lip to control my laugh. "Have you decided on any song?"

"No..." He shook his head and took a journal out of his bag. The same journal I have seen him writing. "I thought you might want to take a look at this."

My brows knitted in confusion, and I took the book from him. I skimmed through it and my eyes widened. "You write song?!"

"I try to write but none of them are finished... just some lyrics that come to my mind." He said in a low voice.

"Why didn't you show me this before?" I asked reading the lyrics.

"Because... I wasn't comfortable."

I raised my brow at him. "And now you are?" His lips curled into a smile and he nodded. "Good. Let's see if we can find something in this." I smiled and read the lyrics.

After an hour, I finally completed reading his songbook. I glanced at Noah, who was quietly sitting on the beanbag, randomly playing his guitar.

The lyrics were superb, and I was surprised he could write them, but they were all sad about love and heartbreaks.

"They are all really amazing, Noah," I said, getting up from my bed. "But why are they all so... sad?"

He shrugged. "I didn't intentionally want them to be, they just... came out like that."

That makes sense... I think.

"Ok..." I paced my room. "All of them are great, but as you said, they are unfinished. It would create a good impression if you sing an original for the competition. I was thinking to mix a few of the lyrics and from that, we can write a single song and since they are all... sad, we will change the lyrics a little so they won't sound like a heart break and people will enjoy it."

I stopped rambling and looked at Noah. "So...?"

He blinked at me, then gave me a smile. "I think that's a good idea." I grinned ear to ear.

"I think you should put these two together." I pointed out on the pages.

"Ok..." He said and wrote them together.

We have been trying to write a song for hours now and we were progressing but slowly.

I was laying in my bed near the edge staring at the ceiling, and Noah sat on the floor beside me, leaning his back on the bed.

I turned my head to my right and watched him as he wrote the lyrics. Our faces were only a few inches away, I studied his face, his sparkling green eyes focus on the book, my eyes flickered from his cheeks to his sharp jaw then settled on his pink lips.

I watched as he kept the pencil between his lips, thinking. I licked my lips as the night when he was drunk flashed in my brain. Just a light touch of his lips made my entire body sparked, I wondered what will happen when we will kiss-

"Lexi." I blinked my eyes rapidly clearing my head.

"Noah?"

"You're doing it again." I turned my head, looking at the ceiling again.

"I wasn't staring, I was-"

"Thinking." He completed it for me.

"Yes," I replied, calming my furiously beating heart.

"And what were you thinking about?"

"Are your songs about that girl you like?" From the corner of my eye, I saw him tensed.

"N-no."

I sighed. "You are not good at lying, Noah."

"Maybe... but not really." He mumbled.

"Are you going to tell me her name?"

"No."

"Why?!" I turned my head towards him again. "I know I gossip a lot but I swear I won't tell anyone," I whispered.

"There is no need to." I watched his Adam's apple bobbed.

"Are you over her?"

"Something like that." His face looked flushed.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Meaning..." he sighed. "The girl I used to like has change... a lot, she isn't the same person she was before and the change is good... so I need to focus on the present and I'm happy with what I have right now."

I blinked my eyes, trying to process what he said. He turned his head to look at me. "I seriously didn't get a single word you just said."

He chuckled and turned, facing me. He put his arm on the bed leaning on it; I felt my face heat at the proximity of our faces; he bored his eyes in mine and continued.

"I'm over the girl I used to like and now..." His eyes darted over my face and smiled. "... I'm waiting for her to be ready." I frowned.

Before I could ask him what he meant by that, someone cleared their throat. Noah and I jolt away from each other and saw dad standing at the door glaring at Noah. "Pizza is here."

It was really awkward eating with daddy as he kept shooting Noah daggers. After that Noah left and we decided to finish the song later.

To work on Noah's song, we used to go gymnasium at lunch or after school at his house, because I knew it would be difficult to work at mine with dad lurking around us.

After working for an entire week, we finally came up with something good.

I wasn't able to do my daily update yesterday *sigh* because my brain wasn't functioning properly 🙄 and still isn't but...I'm trying to get it back on track !

And for the song either I come up with some lyrics of my own (which seems impossible at the moment) or I'll just get something from google 😅

Above is the room closed to what I imagined to be Lexi's because you don't get the exact image on Pinterest as it is on your mind XD
And Lexi's outfit!
