Fifty
I closed my eyes and took deep breaths, calming myself.
Don't lose it, Lexi, stay cool.
After twenty minutes, I started my car and aimlessly drove when out of the blue my stomach grumbled. I clicked my tongue, shaking my head.
I ate nothing since last night.
My stomach continued to make loud noises, I drove around looking for some place to eat when I spot a small burger shop at the corner of the street. I parked my car outside in the parking lot and watched the sun setting.
I got out of my car and shivered as the October breeze flew. I glanced at the sky, which was filled with beautiful orange and yellow colors. Wrapping my arms around me, I rubbed them. The fallen leaves crunched under my steps as I walked towards the shop.
The bell chimed, and I entered the burger shop, going towards the counter. My eyes wandered around the small shop taking in the interior, they painted burgers on the walls with different quotes, there were few tables around the shop and a counter in the middle. This was my first time coming here.
"Excuse me?" I called the girl at the counter. She had her back to me. "I would like to order," I said, looking at the menu on the screen above.
"What can I get you, ma'am?" The girl turned around. "You got to be f**king me." She grunted. My eyes snapped to the girl and grew big when I recognized her.
"Ivy!" I smirked, giving her a once-over. "Long time no see." She wore an orange uniform and a hideous burger cap over her head. I chuckled and pointed at it. "That's a... really cool hat you got there."
She rolled her eyes and plastered a smile on her face. "What do you want to order ma'am?"
I raised my brow at how polite she was being. Her eyes darted to the left, I followed her gaze and saw a guy standing there; he looked like a manager. I grinned mischievously.
Let's have some fun.
"I would like to order..." I stretched each word looking at the menu and took my time. Ivy stood drumming her fingers on the counter, waiting for me with a scowl on her face. "A single patty burger."
She wrote it down. "Single patty-"
"Actually, no." She stopped writing. "I'll have a double patty burger." I batted my eyelashes innocently at her.
Her jaw clenched, but she still forced a smile. "Ok, double patty burger." She wrote it down, then looked at me. "Anything else."
"No." She turned around, and I continued. "Actually..." She halted in her steps. "I'll have some fries with it too."
She turned around and gritted through her teeth. "Small, medium, or big?"
"I'll take small." She wrote it down. "No, scratch that. I'll take big, I'm starving!" I exaggerated, rubbing my belly.
She furiously cut the words and wrote big, then I continued. "But big will be too big for me, don't you think." I pouted.
She ducked her head, and I watched her chest rose and fell with rapid breaths. "Can you first decide what you want, ma'am?" She said through gritted teeth.
"Ok... give a minute then." I skimmed through the menu again as Ivy threw the page and got another. "I will take a double patty- No single-patty cheeseburger, single because I'm taking fries too, I don't want to get fat right," Ivy rolled her eyes, "I will take medium fries... no make it small and pizza fries but don't put an olive in it, I really don't like that stuff and I'll have a big shake... no small because I don't think I'll be able to eat that much-"
"Can you pick already?!" Ivy snapped, cutting me off. I smirked at my victory and her eyes grew big when her manager coughed.
We looked at him as he glared at Ivy. "Don't you know how to talk to customers?" He growled. Ivy opened and closed her mouth, but nothing came out. "I'll deal with this you go inside and wait for me-"
"No need for that." I interrupted. They both looked at me confused. I gave the manager my sweetest smile. "There are so many good things that I couldn't choose and sorry for the inconvenience, Sir," I said politely.
He gave me a smile. "No need to be sorry ma'am-"
"Well then, I'd to give my order now to Miss-" I leaned in and pretended to read her tag, "- Ivy, please."
"Okay." The manager get back and gave Ivy a stern look. "I'll be watching you." He whispered to her, but I still heard.
Ivy sighed in relief when he left, then glared at me.
"I'll have-" Ivy cut me off and wrote.
"I'll get you a single patty zinger burger with small pizza fries and no olive, and a medium strawberry milkshake." Ivy finished and without waiting for me, she turned around and gave my order through the small window.
I fake gasped when she turned around, coming towards me again. "You remember my favorites, how sweet of you Ivy!"
She rolled her eyes and looked at me intensely. " Don't flatter yourself, you looked like you needed something."
"I could say the same about you." I retorted, looking at her from at to toe.
She looked thinner than before, and even with makeup, her dark circles were prominent. She looked tired, like she didn't sleep in ages. I didn't see her much at school these days; she was not even seen at lunch, maybe because of all the people still hating her.
"You can take a seat and I'll call you when your order is ready, ma'am." She said, trying to get rid of me.
"I'll wait here," I smirked and sat on the stool around the counter.
She blew a harsh breath out and turned around, leaning on the counter with her back to me.
I scrolled through my phone, sitting in the burger shop as I waited for my order. I cast a glance at Ivy.
I never knew she worked. I didn't get why she was even working. It wasn't like she was poor on the contrary; she was rich. Her mother was a doctor, and she worked in New York, while she stayed here with her father, who was a well-known investor.
"Hey, sexy." My eyes snapped to the guy who just came in with his friend. He stood in front of Ivy, giving her a flirty smile while his friend snickered behind. They looked around our age, but I didn't think they go to Pinewood high, or else I would have recognized them.
"What can I get you, sir?" Ivy asked, plastering a smile on her face. First, she had to handle me, and now this jerk, I felt bad for her. She had to smile even for jerks like that.
Poor Ivy.
"I'll get a burger, shake, and... you." I snorted at his worst pickup line and glanced at Ivy to see her reaction.
She still had a frustrating smile on her face. "I'll get you your burger and shake, sir." She turned around, but the guy grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
My eyes widened as I saw the scene being unfolded in front of my eyes. Ivy tried to pull her arm out of his grip, but winced when he tightened. I looked around for the manager and he was nowhere to be found.
Where the hell is he when his employee is getting harassed?
"Let. Me. Go," Ivy grunted, but he just laughed with his friend.
This was wrong, I didn't care if it was Ivy or not, but this shouldn't happen to any girl.
"Oh come one Ivy, how long are you going to play hard to get?"
So this wasn't the first time he came here. I glanced at the sauce bottle and grabbed it, opening the cap. I'll make it his last. Getting up from my seat I smooth down my dress carefully looking around and gladly there were few people who were busy with their own stuff.
"Hello, boys." I greeted them. They turned three heads towards me and Ivy's brows knitted in confusion as I walked towards them with a seductive smile. "I didn't know handsome boys come to this- ah!" I stumbled in my steps and the sauce fell over my top. "F**k!" I screamed.
My favorite top!
"Are you okay, baby girl?" The jerk asked as he and his friend laugh at me. My jaw clenched, and I glared at them. This was not how I exactly planned in my mind, but I could still use it to my advantage. I quickly thought of an idea when my brain clicked, I grinned.
This baby girl will teach you a lesson, A**hole.
