"Bhaia, how long will it take to repair???" The girl with red dress asks the mechanic.

Mechanic: Sister, it'll take two days.

"Two days!!!! No way....make it two hours.. We'll come in the evening to take it😐" says the other one in green.

"Didi, try to understand.... Dekho ap logo ka ye scooty ki alava aur bhi kitni sare gadiya hein....bass app kal tak yehi rahne do..parsu kisi bhi wakt ake apna scooty leke jana..." says the mechanic showing the other vehicles of his garage.

"Bani...rehne de... It's just a matter of two days...manage kar lenge" the red dressed girl puts her hand on her sister's shoulder.

"Thik hein..." then Bani turns to the mechanic, "aur tum,.... use apni behen ki tarah dhyan rakhna, thik hein?? Bilkul bhi bura bartav mat karna..warna anjam achcha nhi hoga tomhare liye!!!!😈"

The mechanic gets confused about who she's talking about. He looks behind them to see if there's anyone else with them.

Mechanic:  Didi, ap kiski baat kar rhe ho??😕

"Kiski baare mein matlab!!!😡 meri is scooty ki baat kar rhi he wo...😐" Bella glares at him.

"Are...to sidhe sidhe scooty bolo na...kya behen-behen lagake rakhe ho....mujhe laga kisi insan ki baat kar rhe the....😏" the mechanic makes a face.

Bani moves towards the mechanic and holds his collars, "Abe oyy!!!!...izzat se bol... scooty didi.....warna..." she clenchs her fist and almost throws it at him.

"Didi...didi....scooty didi...!!!  Meri didi....apki didi...sabki didi...!!!🙏🙏🙏" the mechanic with popped eyes folds his hands together pleading to be spared.

Bani lowers her hands, "Abb samajh mein aya...mein kiski baat kar rhi thi??? Ya phir aur demo dikhau!😏" She again makes her fist.

Mechanic: Nhi nhi....samajh mein aa gaya...aur ap bhi aa jana kal subah subah....apna scooty...umm mere matlab humari scooty didi ko leke Jana.😶

Bella and Bani leaves from there. After geeting near the main road Bani starts her own scooty. Wearing her helmet Bella attempts to get on it but Bani stops her....

"Uhu....kya kar rhi hein tu???🤨" Bani asks Bella moving her away from the scooty.

Bella: Getting on scooty, aur kya?🙄

"Aur tujhe aisa kyu lagta hein ki mein tujhe apna sath lungi😏"  Bani smirks at her sister.

"Dekh Bani....pereshan maat kar...tujhe pata hein na...aj mera presentation hein....jaldi pouchna padega office mein...abb apni hath hatha.." Bella tries to ride on but only to be moved by Bani.

"Pehle ye to bata ki mein kitna mahan hoon😌" Bani looks down shyly.

"Oh God!! Ye ladki aur uski nakhre!!!😣" Bella mutters under her breath.

Bani starts her scooty again, "Lagta hein kisiko aj office late pouchna hein😒"

"Are nhi nhi...mein to yehi keh rhi hoon...ki mahan banna to koyi tujhse sikhe...." then she joins her hand together smiling sweetly, "Mahan nari tussi great ho..meri arzi kabool karo.."

"Fine..." the Bani points her finger a bit away from the road and asks her sister, Abb ye bata ki wo kya hein?"

Bella: Bus-stop🙄

Then Bani takes out a note from her bag, "abb ye kya hein baata"

Bella: 20 rupya ka note🙄

Bani shoves the note to her sister's hand and says, " ye lo 20 rupya...Local bus mein yaha se office 20 rupya ka rasta hein..abb apna intejam khud karlo, behen🙂"

Bella flares her nostril, "agar nhi leke jana tha to mujhse itna kuch kyu bakwaya???👿"

"Wo kya hein na..mujhe apna yatra shuru karne se pehle kuch achcha sunna tha...😚" giving her sister a smug smile Bani drives away from there, leaving a open mouthed Bella.😂

Mahir's PoV

"Pinky...ponky...jaldi aao...school ke liye late ho rhe ho.." As I come down I hear Mishty bhabi calling the children.

"Good morning, everyone" I greet everyone.

"Good morning... " I see Veer approaching the dining table.

"So Mahir and everyone....get ready in the evening okay...we're going Vaidya ji's house." Mamu tells us everyone.

"Ye....aj hum bahar jayenge...ghumenge..ye!!!" The miniballs start screaming upto their vocal cord...

Chalo....kisi ko to life mein kuch excitement hein...I think myself.

"Why Dad, what is it??? Kisiki arti utarni hein kya???" Maan asks Mockingly while Veer smacks his head laughingly.... It’s a wonder that Mami didn’t twisted his ears till now😏

"No, today's Vaidya ji's daughter's birthday" my mom spills the true reason.

Hearing about birthday just at the moment I hear a thud of Veer's fork. Dropping his fork on the plate he gets up from the chair....his expression has changed. Everyone looks at him a bit shocked.
Obviously they don't know the real reason. Even the last bite of bread that I just took is facing difficulty to go down my throat.

I too get up from my place while my dad asks, "So, you guys are showing up, right???"

"No. " Veer and I both say in unison.

Maan says, "Mujhe bhi nhi jana..😑"

Ahana slaps his back, "kya matlab nhi jana... Bachche ka bap bane ho.... To bachcho ko babysit karne ke liye to sahi jawge😐"

"Everyone is going, including Veer and Mahir....Mr. Vaidya has invited the whole family... It'll be a dishonor of him and his family if all of us don't go." Mamu announces with a finality.

"Told you na...dad..I'm not coming. Now please don't force me with your big talk." here starts Veer's smart mouth.

Mamu: Veer....

"Okay...okay...Don't fuss!!!  I'll go on behalf of this two." Abhishekh bhai tries two balance between his brother and father.

Without another word Veer rush out from the hall. "Are beta, par khana to khake ja..." my mom calls him from behind..obviously in vein.

Mamu shakes his head in disappointment while Mami sighs a breath. The tension around the hall is almost unbearable.... Looks like even the children can feel it as they all have become so quiet eating biscuits from Kunal bhai.

I make a move to leave while Mami calls me, "Mahir, bachcha tu bhi...."

"Don't worry...Mami..I'll eat later...and make sure that Hot Head eats too.." I  smile at her reassuringly.

I get out of the house leaving the others to ease the tension. Obviously they don't know why the always-cool Veer has suddenly become so cold one in these years.

It’s her birthday today.... It’s Their Birthday today...😑
I close my eyes drowning into the past.

It was 10th of January after winter vacation. Neither me nor Veer could reach the twins by phone within these days. The last thing we heard from them was the massage on 31st night. After that none of them talked to us...even their phones were switched off.....seriously!!!  Who gets this much angry for not seeing off, man!!!!

Even though we were no more a student of this College we came to meet them. But couldn’t find them in college. Then we saw their roommate Keya walking along the corridor.

"Hey Keya, what's up??" we both approached her.

"Good." Saying this Keye just made a move to leave...strange!!!

Veer: Bani aur kaha hein, dekhay nhi de rha....?

"Why??? Aren’t you two done with your dirty game, yet?" Keya spitted at us.

"What???what are you talking about???" I was too shocked by her words.

"Nothing leave it" saying this she again moved to go but Veer blocked her way.

Veer: Look keya, we don't have time for your shit!!! Just tell us where the twins are.

"Yeah.. I know you Don't.... Abb kisi aur ko bhi to bedroom tak le jana hein na tumhe??? " the hatred in her eyes was palpable .

"What are you indicating precisely, huh??" I could sense something really really wrong in her tone.

Keya: Okay....people like you only understand your language na... Fine I'm telling you....Bella and Bani both got to know about your bet on them...so now cut your so called love-drama and fuck off from their lives.

"What!!!!" we were hell beyond shock... Never in our dream did we think that this day will come.

Keya: yes...and Don't waste your time searching for them  'cause they have left the college forever and obviously I'm not giving you their address.

Her last words left us hanging. They left the college. Forever.

"Look keya...we're not denying that we made a bet...but this is not the whole picture. We really do love them. I Don't know who told them what... But this is not right...please try to understand.... We need to talk to them....if it were all a lie we'd never drag this too far, right!!!" I try to reach her mind by words. We really need to sort out the disaster that has caused.

" Even I thought so..." Keya says, "...but They learned the truth from your own confession Mahir and Veer. On 31st night. The only thing I witnessed that they were so happy while going to give you guys surprise... But when they came back they were anything but happy. Bella was a crying mess and Bani....that girl became like an emotionless zombie. I'm sorry... I don't think they are ever going to face you two. In fact they have strictly mentioned to the authority that no one should know about their whereabouts. So..please learn to leave with the fact."

Her last words were like my death sentence. I looked at Veer only to see a shuttered body standing beside me.

Six years....it has been six years since then...we couldn’t trace them neither did we learn to live with it. Did you, Bella??? Did you guys learn to live with hating us??? So many things have changed in these years...yet if you look closely...nothing has changed. The tears on my eyes are still as fresh as that day.

At office

Veer is working on his laptop. He sends the last email and gets up from his chair. He stands near the window and looks up at sky...or More precisely at a Star. A long moment passes by silence only to be broken by his occasional sighs.

He looks up at the star with raw emotions and utters, "Happy Birthday, sweetheart.🥺"

At the same time in Sharma Mansion Bani also looks up at sky with her numb eyes standing near her window. Looking up at the star she sighs, "Six long years......still you're the brightest one there....",  then she places her palm at her heart and says, "And here too..."

After some more time of stillness Bani moves out from her room and heads towards Bella's room. Entering in her twin's room she closes the door and slides beside her twin on the bed wrapping a hand around her.

"Couldn’t sleep???" Bella asks her sister.

Bani: Uhu..

Bella says nothing. She doesn’t need to say anything. Both know what the other is feeling right now.

Bani: So finally you agreed.

Bella: hmm...

Bani: you sure about this?

Bella sighs, "this is the only way out, Bani...one of us had to do it, right??? So why not me?

A lone tears escapes from Bella's eyes while Bani hugs her sister more tightly but says nothing.....

Two weeks later
Singhania Mansion

"Abhi bhai....apna face pack lagaya ho na thik se??" Mann snickers.

"Are lagaya lagaya...dekha nhi kaise glow kar rha hei???😂" Mahir jokes.

"Ha...Abhi ka shaadi ke baad tum dono bhi pack lagana shuru kar dena...aur kitne din ye carrier carrier tamasha chalega???" Sumitra says to Mahir and Veer while both roll their eyes.

Veer: Bua please.... Bar bar ek hi baat ko kyu dowrate ho app log. Kahana nhi karni hein hume shaadi...

"Koyi kuch nhi dowrayega....aj hum Vaidya ji ki beti se tomhara bhai ka shaadi ka baat final karne ja rhe hein...aur ghar ka saab isme shamil rahega....aur sab matlam Sab!!!" Veer's dad pointedly looks at Veer.

"Dad...." Veer again starts to object but Radha cuts him.

"Veer beta...it's an important day of your brother's life....and you don’t want to attend, dear!!!"  she pats her son's head.

Mann: Yeah...Veer bhai..Mahir bhai...let's go na.....please....

Kids: please....Chucks.....please..... Chalo na....humare sath.....please....!!!!

Both Veer and Mahir sighs in defeat.

"okay fine...to chalte hein hum sab Abhishek chacks ka abhishek karwane.....!!!" Veer says picking up the kids on his both shoulders.

Vaidya ji's house
The Sehgals and Singhanias arrive while the whole family greets them. They go inside and the elders start talking about their general topic while the youngers check out the interior of the hall.

Mann: Abhi bhai..,where's your husne pari.....???😉

Abhi: Mujhe kya pata???😐

"Pata karlo....puchlo kisise....agar sharma rhe ho to hum puch lete hein...😜" Veer jokes.

Mr. Vaidya's son slightly eavesdrops that 'Puch lete...' part asks them, "Guys, any problem???"

Mann: Yeah....actually very serious problem....hamara bhai jabse apki behen ki birthday party se laute hein....tabse kisiko miss karke bht bechain ho  rhe hein...abb aplog kindly agar unhe humare samne pesh karenge to...shayad inka dil mein thoda chain milega aur hum inhe marne se bacha payenge.😝

Everyone laughs while Abhishek becomes beetroot red.

Veer's Mom: Ji ha..bhai sab... Agar koyi taklif na ho to ab hum apki beti se milna chahenge...

Vaidya: No madam.......of course no problem... let me call her...

A girl starts going up to call the bride girl but stops midway and says, "She's coming.. "

Everyone looks up on that direction expecting the bride girl.

Climbing down the stairs the bride girl in blue lehenga comes towards them with another girl in pink one who is fetching her by shoulder. Both smiling brightly.....just the moment four pair of eyes meet...their smiles fade away, eyes freezing into each other...

Meantime the Vaidya ji's brother announces, "here comes our girl, Bella Narayan Sharma, daughter of Vaidya Narayan Sharma. "
