12. A Brilliant Idea
(Derek's P.O.V)
It had been ten minutes into this fight and I had to say I was enjoying myself more than I thought I actually would.
A pretty girl - definitely older than me - sidled up close five minutes ago and has been having a good time letting her hands roam over my well-defined body.
Thing is, I was imagining those hands belonging to someone else.
Someone who was kicking ass right now.
The Wildcat jumped back and the Leopard kicked sideways. I'll just call them W and L for convenience.
W landed a punch on L's side and the retaliation came in the form of a jab to the pelvis for W. Both girls were aggressive and putting on a show everyone was enjoying in more ways than one. L ducked, avoiding a kick but the Wildcat took the moment and completing her roundhouse, punched her in the gut in the same move.
War let out a whistle next to me but he wasn't the only one.
Cheers rose up as L stumbled for the first time since the fight started. And then with blazing brown eyes, she charged W.
I'd noticed how both girls indeed deserved their alias'. The Leopard was lithe and ferocious, but her main advantage was how quick on her feet she was. The Wildcat on the other hand was as wild as they came. She was unpredictable and wild, quick about thinking on her feet and making useful moves.
One thing they both shared though was their feline grace.
I'm sure they aren't werewolves though...
W punched L in the face but she managed to only get her cheek grazed. L kneed W and the mark hit as she hissed. They both proved they were a good match and pretty flexible. If one could get the other to lose her footing, the crowd roared up because it was actually rare.
My gaze caught onto the Wildcat's cat tattoo more often than not and her blue eyes were almost disturbing for me.
The purple haired girl narrowed her blue eyes and the white haired one threw a jab that didn't hit its mark.. Wildcat stopped it by wrapping her own fist around it and kicking Leopard on the side. She coughed at the impact before freeing herself and throwing herself onto W with full force. A punch to her gut and the Wildcat was gritting her teeth. In retaliation, she stomped on L's foot, crushing it to make her step away. A feint to the right but a cross punch came L's way that she couldn't avoid.
Both girls were getting exhausted now, considering this had been going on for twenty minutes. It was time to wrap up the show and everyone felt it coming.
What they didn't see coming was the uppercut W managed to hit L with and I was sure it had L's jaw shaking with the breath she exhaled but she only swayed a bit before attacking W with a series of crosses. W dodged them but L was too quick and one punch hit home making W groan slightly.
Yet they didn't stop, only quickened their pace.
Then it was flurry of jabs, side kicks, right hooks, front kicks and ducks and dodges.
They were angry and they were letting out their aggression very clearly. The darkness made some of the fight scenes blur into each other but I still watched, completely fixated.
And then came the peak of the fight where the only things I saw were the cross L threw at W, leaving her side open. Wildcat took the chance and in the split second, ducked and kicked her in the side hard enough to break a bone.
But I don't think she broke a bone. A nasty bruise, yes but not serious damage.
I would know. I've seen and done enough of both.
The Leopard coughed up some blood and then fell to her knees while the Wildcat followed, not having avoided the punch to the gut Leopard landed simultaneously during the side kick.
But it was clear that the Wildcat won when the Leopard fell unconscious.
I had to admit, they were damn good and this fight hadn't been predictable.
And I was breathing hard.
Damn, the Wildcat's toned body was even more pronounced with the sweat glistening off her tanned skin and I groaned as my eyes took in her beautifully sexy form.
"Did you see that last moment?" War was whooping.
I turned to him as she walked off and I made a split second eye contact with her blue eyes.
"Yeah, definitely next level chick fight."
The roars and cheers died down slowly but the music turned up and something like a party resumed once more, just not with the excitement of more fights. At least not for tonight.
The girl besides me was making small talk with those around, a hand still on my chest as mine rested on her hip.
I looked around calculatingly.
There was an idea I had. It was like killing three-four birds with one stone.
It was a brilliant idea I was proud of.
Yes, Ricky's recklessness might have pitched in but my resolve was strong.
I was bored. I wanted to know who the girl behind the Wildcat mask was. I wanted an outlet for my own self. And I could get to touch the girl Ricky had gotten his ass kicked by.
I rubbed a hand over my jaw, searching for Diego and his signature Mohawk when I finally saw him. Glancing to my left I saw my friends mingling and drinking too.
"Hey, War, do you mind if I slip out for a few? I'll be back in a bit!" I roared over the music and he nodded, giving me a thumbs up while Michael had listened in and acknowledged it.
I shot them a grin and then spoke to the girl named Sadie besides me, "How does a night with me sound?"
Her eyes lit up and she winked, "Wonderful, handsome."
Still to be sure, "I'm still underage." She was a college gal and though I wouldn't hesitate usually, I didn't want to take risks in this new town first day having fun. She'd been giving me all the signs and I'd be stupid to let her slip away. I rose a brow.
She chuckled, slightly drunk, "Don't care. It's all good."
"Great then. Think you can wait just a couple minutes?" I smirked, admiring her cleavage. It was a surprise I wasn't drunk much. I'd only had two cups of beer and had been too fascinated by the fight.
She waved her hand, the drink sloshing a bit from her solo cup. "Sure. I'll be here. Don't forget." She gave me a seductive smile and I kissed her in promise before slipping away.
"Diego Morales? Heard you handle everything here?" I quirked a brow when I finally faced him, sitting on the bar-stool beside him.
The brown haired man turned his attention to me, his Spanish heritage not that easy to overlook so close. Plus his accent was evident, "And you are?"
I flashed him my bad-boy smile, one laced with darkness, "Derek Greyson. New to town."
Something in his eyes lit up at my mention and his droll look turned more intriguing. He looked me up and down, nodding to himself as he nursed his drink and rubbed his jaw. Eventually done, he rose a brow.
Though I didn't sense any hostility, there was no pleasant welcoming either.
"I've heard. What brings you to me?" Turning away and breaking eye-contact, he looked towards the people dancing and drinking.
I rolled my shoulders.
Alright, moment of truth. I've got guts, let's see if they'll get me anywhere good. Or bad. Depends.
"You think you can take one more fighter under your wing?"
His eyes slowly traveled to mine.
The only things I heard for the next few minutes were shouts, laughter, drunk slurs and bad music taste blasting my ears off. I kept staring at him with a hard look in my eyes.
He didn't need to see me as a weak teenager with a 'badboy' reputation for getting girls and having tattoos to match his pretty face. No, Diego needed to see what was lurking under the gloss of my copper eyes. That hard set of my jaw.
I think I succeeded.
Diego smirked.

My house was silent and I didn't care about the noise Sadie and I made as we headed to my room upstairs, mouths clashing feverishly.
She was definitely a bit more drunk but my needs weren't going anywhere anytime soon unless she took care of them. She moaned as I slipped off her tee and my hand trailed over her bare skin. She made a move, kissing her way down my jawline as we stumbled into my room.
We both breathed hard and I was excited in more ways than one.
In the cover of the darkness, she easily stumbled to my bed, falling down on it. But before I joined her, I chuckled at the breeze coming in from the open window.
Taking a minute, I slipped towards it and peeked out to see if Lila's window was open. It wasn't.
Curtained too and no lights. Guess Kitkat was asleep. It was two in the morning after all.
"Derek? You coming?"
I sighed small and closed the window, prowling back to Sadie. "Oh yeah, we both are."
She giggled at the innuendo and then I got on top of her, kissing her neck as my mind replayed my conversation with Diego.
Which ultimately led to me picturing the Wildcat.
I groaned as Sadie ground herself against me, running her hands through my hair and mewling. But there were only two sets of eyes haunting me.
One a steel grey, the other a disturbing blue behind a mask.
Maybe I'd even tell Kitkat.
I'm sure she'd love to see me shirtless and fighting.
I grinned, content for now.
Even the vibration of my silent phone on the stand didn't sour my mood and that was a lot considering I knew who it could be.
I always thought I resembled a wolf when the wrong side of my soul was awakened, now I'd get to be one for real.
In the ring, of course.
I'm not a werewolf. Really.
