Part 3

Mark watched Jack chat with the woman for a bit, while Bob told him loudly over the music.  "I sure hope you were right".  Jack shook the woman's hand with a smile and returned to Mark.  Setting the empty glass on the bar, Jack told him happily.  "Well, she's willing to meet you. Am I the best wingman or... what"?  Jack placed a hand on his shoulder and began to stare at him with concern.  Mark realized his face must have been contorted in a mix of fear and panic.  So, he quickly told Jack nervously over the music.  "Jack, why did you drink that"?  Jack removed his hand, shrugging as he answered casually.  "She told me she only drinks one glass a night. But she told me that if I drank it; she'd meet with you. So, I took one for the team. Why"?  Mark didn't answer, and Jack suddenly looked very unsettled.  Straightening up to his full height, Jack yelled back at Mark sternly.  "What was in the glass, Mark?! It wasn't sugar water"!  Bob quickly filled Jack in about the woman and the love potion, while Mark kept his eyes trained on Jack's every feature.  What would the stuff do to Jack?

After Jack had gotten the full story, Mark was snapped out of his own guilty mind by a powerful slap to his face!  Jack then grabbed the front of Mark's shirt, yelling back bitterly.  "What the hell, Mark"!  Grabbing hold of Jack's thin wrists, Mark yelled back defensively.  "We don't know what it was! It could just be sugar water for all we know"!  Jack tried to shake him, but ended up just pounding his fists against Mark's chest as he cried out.  "You asshole! You don't use that shite, until you KNOW what it is"!  The bartender came over to them and asked if there was a problem, and Bob quickly told him.  "Irish drinking game"!  Shaking his head, the bartender told them to keep it clean, returning to taking orders from others at the bar.  Mark tried to gently pry Jack's hands off his shirt, as he told him sincerely.  "I'm sorry, Jack. I didn't think-".  Mark let his train of thought die as Jack started to slowly started to sway.  Grabbing Jack's shoulders to support him, he heard Jack tell him a bit shaky.  "Mark... I don't feel so good".  Bob shot to his feet, telling Mark seriously.  "Mark, you got to get him to the hospital"!  Mark easily lifted Jack into his arms, asking Bob in a rush.  "Where is Wade"?  Bob pointed to the exit, franticly telling Mark.  "Just go! I'll find Wade and call Mandy".  Mark nodded, quickly rushing out the door.

Mark was thankful that he had parked in the parking lot of the bar, before they went exploring earlier.  Helping Jack into the passenger seat, Mark quickly rushed to the driver side and practically floored it.  Heavy rain started to splatter across the windshield as Mark raced down the dark roads.  Mark cursed to himself and flicked on the windshield wipers to their highest setting.  Of course, they would wind up driving into a storm.  The one thing that forced him to drive slower in his hour of need!  Glancing over at Jack, he bit his lip.  Jack's long green bangs were covering his eyes from view, but he looked like he had passed out.  He couldn't let anything happen to Jack.  He'd never forgive himself.  Jack suddenly began to move slowly.  Leaning forward to face the floorboard, struggling to mumble out aloud to him.  "Mark... Pull over".

Mark gripped the steering wheel tighter, asking hopefully.  "Can you hang on a bit longer? We are almost there".  It was a lie.  They still had a few miles to go, but he just needed Jack to believe it.  Jack shook his head aggressively, telling Mark in a rush.  "Mark, unless you want me to ruin your upholstery... you'll pull over now"!  Mark spotted a small dirt spot off the road ahead, and quickly pulled over.  The car slid across the wet mud as Mark slammed on the brakes, but Jack didn't care.  He already had the door open and was ready to jump out.  Jack climbed out the second the car came to enough of a stop, and bent over the wet grass.  His jaw tingled and his stomach felt like it was getting ready to force everything back up.  The heavy rain soaked through his clothes and drenched his hair, but he didn't care.  He just wanted to throw up whatever this was and feel better.  Nothing was happening though.  He tried to help it along by thinking of the grossest things he could... still nothing.  He thought about sticking a finger down his throat... but when he started to... he felt better.  Straightening up, Jack leaned back against the side of the car.

Mark watched Jack like a hawk.  Nothing appeared to be happening and then he just leaned back against the car.  Was that a good thing?  Leaning over into the passenger seat, Mark asked Jack curiously.  "You alright"?  Jack turned his head lazily to face him with a smile, replying happily.  "I feel so much better".  Mark raised an eyebrow at him.  He couldn't tell if Jack was joking, or if he really meant it.  Patting the seat, Mark told Jack seriously.  "If you're done, get back in here. I'm still taking you to the hospital".  Mark sat back in his seat, watching Jack turn to face him with a strange look.  Jack had never looked at him like that before.  It was a look that appeared... lusty?  It had to be the trick of the car lights.  Jack leaned over the passenger seat and crawled over to him on all fours, whispering in a low thick accent that Mark had to strain to fully understand.  "Well by sure Jesus, your that worried are ya"?  Mark blinked a bit confused.  He had only caught half of it.  Turning his gaze to face ahead at the road, Mark told him sternly.  "Just get in, Jack. You're getting my door all wet".  Mark could feel Jack leaning closer to his ear and shivered.  What the hell had gotten into Jack?  Jack's warm breath tickled his ear, as he whispered to him in that same low thick accent.  "Aye, Laddie. I plan to get ya more wet than that".  To Be Continued...
