What I did and What You Saw

I left a note upon your door, 
But you only saw some paper.
I whispered love in silent nights, 
But you just heard a whisper.

I reached out with my shaking hands, 
But you felt just a touch.
I tried to show how much I care, 
But you didn’t see it much.

I painted skies with morning light, 
But you only saw the sun.
I sent you flowers by your side, 
But you noticed just the thorns.

I walked with you on starless nights, 
But you only saw the moon.
I shared with you my secret dreams, 
But you only heard a tune.

I burnt in flames to keep you warm, 
But you felt just a spark.
I held you close to keep you safe, 
But you only felt the dark.

I carved our names into the wind, 
But you never felt the breeze.
I held Love's ocean in my heart, 
But you never felt the waves.

I wrote my love across the stars, 
But you never saw light.
I gave you all I had to give, 
But it didn’t feel quite right.

What I did was love you deeply, 
But what you saw was less.
What I did was give you all, 
But what you saw, I guess....
