A Love That Traps
______________________________________
This poem is about a love that holds on too tightly-a love that knows it should let go but can't. It's a look into the heart of someone who wants to keep someone close, even though they know their love has become more of a cage than a comfort. It's a confession of selfishness, of wanting to hold on, even when they know the other deserves to be free.

Toxic 'Love'
I'm selfish.
And I know it. What can I do?
I want you all to myself,
Believing I owned every piece of you.
How wrong I was!
You were always meant to soar,
To touch the sky, like a wild, free bird.
How wrong of me-
To try to cage you in my heart,
To turn love into a prison.
I said I couldn't let you go,
But deep down, I knew:
I didn't want you to escape.
You say my love's poison-
Toxic and deadly.
I know it's true,
But I don't want to believe it.
I want to live with joy and love,
While you're bound in my "love,"
Like a firefly caught in its own light.
You slipped away so quietly,
Before I even noticed.
But I knew it was coming-
The day I tried to keep you,
Turning love into my own defeat.
I say I'm sorry, but I'm not.
I know I'll never be the one
Who deserves your love.
And maybe that's exactly
What I deserve.

Dear Love Squad,
I hope that you liked 'A Love That Traps'.
It's the fourth poem in my subunit of this love poem collection- 'YOU'.
I very well know that it sounds kinda wicked but here goes my logic-
There are tons of love poems written from the perspective of heartbroken people.
But very few write poems from the perspective of a person who has broken someone's heart, someone's trust.
This poem is written from the perspective of someone who knows
that they don't deserve true love
yet wants to feel it,
because Love is such a drug my friends,
that once someone gets a taste of it,
it becomes too precious to forget. . .
Eh, sorry if it was too sappy
(or cringeworthy).
Thank you so much for reading<33333
Yours sincerely,
