Chapter 3 : Headmaster Plan
The accidents that happened in the last twenty-four hours timeline was enough to break Shiv mentally. He was exhausted by the drama and had no energy left to fight back with the problem, at least for that particular moment.
He had nothing but the only option to lay back on his bed, and let fate write his destiny amid the tension in his life. Shiv was staring at the ceiling fan while his hands were resting behind his head and his thoughts were performing the cremation of his happy life.
"Shiv, can I come in?" A knock on the door waved away the clouds of imagination for Shiv and made a space for Suhana to enter the room.
Shiv sat on his bed with cross legs, while his head was still down.
"Are you still mad at me?" Suhana walked to Shiv and sat on the bed facing him.
"No," Shiv shook his head in a negative tone without making any eye contact with her.
"I came here to say sorry," Suhana slowly slid forward on the bed to come close to Shiv. "I overreacted earlier without knowing the complete story."
"It is fine," Shiv managed to say the words with a low voice over his heavy heart.
"I just got to acknowledge the complete situation on how the misunderstandings happened for you, not once but twice," she leaned forward to keep her hands on Shiv's hands to console him. "I am sorry for slapping you."
"I am not even thinking of that Suhu," Shiv collected him together before speaking. "I am more concerned about what to do ahead in this whole mess."
"What have you decided till now?"
"I am not sure of anything," Shiv exhaled his breath in an attitude of giving up. "Priya doesn't want me to marry either her or Ranveer. But Ranveer is asking me to agree to the marriage so that he can execute his master plan by switching me with Arjun during the ceremony."
"But what do you want in life?" Suhana asked the question and immediately realised that the answer to the question was always her name. Shiv raised his head to face her and said, " It was always you, and you were well aware."
Suhana took her time to respond with a long pause and then said, "But Shiv, you always knew about my preferences."
Shiv had nothing to say here but to nod in agreement with her.
"I was like this from the very beginning," she continued. "Many people try to link my gender selection with my past and conclude that I like girls because I hate men and the reason being my father leaving my mother after five years of marriage for another woman."
Suhana tried to control herself from losing herself in emotion, and collected herself before continuing speaking, "But it is not the reason for me to be like this. I always was attracted towards the same sex and I never hid it from anyone. Even from my own family."
"Suhana," this time Shiv leaned forward to keep his hand over Suhana to console her. "You can only choose for yourself, but can't force others to love you back. At least I have learned the same while waiting for you, and you should understand the same for Priya."
"But I want to at least try for one more time," Suhana said with confidence in her voice. "And I need your help in this."
"Suhu, I am not sure about anythi..." Shiv was not even close to completing his sentence when Suhana cut him in between and said, "I want you to marry Ranveer."
"...ng and I don't... wait, what?" Shiv received it completely unexpectedly. "You want me to do what?"
"Please hear me first," Suhana begged Shiv for his attention.
"Well, now I want to,"
"Please marry Ranveer for real," Suhana continued with the plan. "You are allowed to divorce him after a few months and then Ranveer can marry Arjun back."
"Well, thank you for allowing us," Shiv said sarcastically.
"But your marriage with Ranveer will break Priya emotionally because she will witness her love, Ranveer's marriage," Suhana said. "And that will be the time when I will activate my charm. I will enter the scene and make Priya hate the complete community of male as a gender."
"And then?" Shiv asked.
"Once Priya will hate men and agree to the universal truth of all men being dogs," Suhana jumped on the bed in excitement. "Then she will be left with no other option than women, and then she will come closer to me - like physically, emotionally and technically."
"But women will not be the only option with which she will be left out," Shiv said. "There are neutrals, who are neither men nor women."
Suhana paused before yelling, "Shiv, this book already have a gay, a lesbian, a straight girl and an asshole. You want to introduce a new neutral character in a four-chapter story?"
"Sorry," Shiv apologised and signalled Suhana to continue.
"That's it, that is the plan," she said and dusted off her hands. "Now tell me, will you help me?"
"So, Ranveer narrated one master plan of his own," Shiv said. "And now you came up with your master plan."
"It is not a master plan," Suhana clicked her tongue. "It is a headmaster-plan."
"And why do you believe that I will help you out with this?"
"Because Shiv, this will make me happy, and you love me," Suhana replied. "And love means nothing but to give the other person all the happiness they deserve. Now the question is, will you do this for my happiness in your love?"
That's the problem of being in love is, you always fall in love but never rise in love.
And Suhana has pushed Shiv from the cliff using the gravity of the emotions which were already implanted in his heart.
Shiv had no choice but to nod in affirmation to Suhana with a quiet mouth and pierced heart.
"Thank you so much," Suhana jumped in happiness on the bed and threw herself on Shiv to give him a hug he deserved and placed a small kiss on his right cheek.
But it was too late for him to hope for love from Suhana, he only replied with a half-smile and defeated eyes.
The world has seen a lot of love stories where the lovers cross the boundaries and the oceans, a few lovers build historic monuments in the remembrance of their love, a few others fight with the world for the sake and purity of the love. But Shiv was the first straight person on the planet, who had agreed to gay marriage for the happiness of his love.
He may pray for his love story to rest in peace later, but his fate was not agreeing to compromise for the break he deserved from all the happenings.
After Suhana left his room with a happy face, Shiv tried to cover a nap in his room. But Ranveer snatched that piece of harmony Shiv had and broke into his room with rage in his eyes.
"I know what you have planned with Suhana," Ranveer yelled at Shiv while holding his collars.
"Ranveer, just hear me out," Shiv pleaded him.
"First, you hear me out," Ranveer pushed Shiv away. Shiv tried to balance him after falling on the chair behind. "I will never marry anyone except Arjun."
"Ranveer, I am doing this for Suhana," Shiv tried to stand but imbalanced himself again on the chair.
"You know what I am going to do now?" Ranveer asked.
"Kill me?" Shiv asked back.
"No," Ranveer said. "I will run away."
"Run?" Shiv stood from the chair and moved his both hands to mock the action of running. "Like an athlete running?"
"What? Are you dumb?" Ranveer was losing patience. "I will elope with Arjun."
Ranveer turned to leave the room before Shiv could have spoken anything.
The last few hours were hard on Shiv and he was not ready for something else. He walked to the bed and sat on one corner with his head in his palms and elbows on his thigh. He stilled for a minute like that, before falling on the bed to take a much necessary nap.
But his peaceful sleep lasted for only a couple of hours when he heard some loud noises coming from the verandah of his house.
He rushed to come out and saw Ranveer's parents talking with his parents.
"We have to rush," Ranveer's father screamed. "Take out your car now."
"But first tell us what happened?" Shiv's father asked.
"Ranveer ran away," Ranveer's mother finally revealed the truth.
"Ran away?" Shiv's father said and moved both hands to mock the action of running. "Like an athlete?"
Shiv rolled his eyes in disbelief, as he understood that he would never require any DNA test to prove his relationship with his father. Ranveer's father turned to find Shiv standing across the verandah and shouted, "Shiv, take the car out. We need to rush."
"Shiv," His father called for his attention and moved both his hands again in to and fro movement. "Run Shiv, run!"
