Chapter 2 : Master Plan

Shiv's POV starts.

After the incident at Priya's house, I was scared and a normal human behaviour explains that a man always rushes to make a second disaster if he is scared after making the first disaster.

That's what I did by knocking at Ranveer's house.

"Shiv beta," I was welcomed by Ranveer's mother. "Please come inside. Do you want coffee or tea?"

"Just a glass of water," It was for my dry throat. I rushed towards Ranveer's room, ignoring his mother's warm welcome.

I knocked repeatedly at his door and went inside once the door was wide open by him.

"Why are you looking so impatient?" Ranveer invited me to his room and continued reading his law books.

"I am so dead," I was still not able to sort out how to come out of the issue created at Priya's house.

"Well, I can't help you until I have been walked through the complete scenario," Ranveer closed his book to focus on me.

"Priya's parents have just declared my marriage with her," I revealed the problem to him.

"Priya?" He was equally shocked as me. "Our Priya?"

I just nodded to him and was still standing as a nervous kid, who had been blamed for the mischief he never attempted.

"I need to understand the complete scene first," Ranveer stood from his chair to walk to me. "Did they come to your house with the marriage proposal?"

"No," I took a long breath to control my shivering hands and racing heart. "It turns out because of one misunderstanding."

"Explain,"

"I was having just a normal conversation with Priya in her room," I continued with the story narration. "I was talking about how much I love Suhana."

"You were talking about your ex with your future wife?" He made the comment which was followed by the disgusted face.

"Suhana is not my ex," I resisted his statement.

"Well technically true," he patted my shoulder to console me. "She never said yes to you."

"Thanks for hurting me," I threw his hands away from my shoulder and continued. "And when I was talking to Priya, I made a body language to explain to her about my feelings for Suhana. And at that very moment, we both got caught by her parents."

"What was the body posture?"

"I was... Holding..." I raised both my hands to hold Ranveer's face in them and leaned my head forward, but the competitively taller height of Ranveer was not helping me to replicate the scene. "Can you please bend your head a little?"

"Like this?" He followed my request and leaned his head forward to make contact with his forehead with mine.

"Yes, perfect," I said after successfully recreating the iconic scene.

"Shiv beta, your glass of water," the door opened wide to present an uncomfortable position for Ranveer's mother. And my luck got caught by the dog while still sitting on a standing camel. Ranveer's mother lost the glass and the glass broke to shatter on the floor, along with my image in front of her.

"Where are you? Do you know this?" She rushed to call her husband and ran to their room.

"And then I got caught by Priya's parents," I said leaving Ranveer's face. "Exactly how I got caught right now."

In no time, we two boys were standing guilty in front of his parents.

"I always doubt that our son is gay," Ranveer's father said. "But I never doubted Shiv."

"Because I am not, uncle," I resisted. "I can explain the misunderstanding."

"We don't need that," he raised his hand to signal me to stop. "And neither we accept homosexuality."

"But papa," Ranveer wanted to present the clarification but was interrupted by his father again.

"But we do love our only child," his father continued. "So we will allow this marriage."

"Marriage?" Words fell from my mouth in absolute shock.

"Yes marriage, my son-in-law," his father took a step towards me to hug me. "We are proud that you two always stood strong against the LGBT movement."

"Welcome to our family," a smile welcomed me from Ranveer's mother. "We will soon discuss the dates with your family too."

I didn't want to make the third mistake of the day by rushing to someone else's door for help and getting a marriage proposal from them too. So I decided to stay at Ranveer's place after the incident.

And I guess, that was itself my third mistake of the day.

"It is the most perfect day," Ranveer said while walking to and fro in his room, while I was weeping in a corner of the room.

"I will do suicide by coming in front of a running train," I murmured.

"Shiv, I have a master plan," he walked to me and sat in front.

"I will eat sulphate and die," I was still preparing my master plans to do suicide.

"Just hear me out," Ranveer pulled me to grab my attention. "Let this gay marriage happen."

"What?" I almost screamed. "I am not gay."

"But I am," he said.

"To fulfil your desires, should I auction my will?"

"But you will not have to marry me," he said. "You just have to agree to this marriage."

"Who is supplying drugs to a lawyer?"

"Hear the plan," he continued. "You only have to agree to the marriage. Hearing this news, the parents of Priya will break the relationship with you. You will be saved from the first problem."

"What about the second problem, which is you?" I asked.

"On the day of marriage, we will exchange the bride from you to Arjun," he explained. "Once the marriage is over, Arjun will reveal his face from the sehra and will tell everyone about the marriage."

"Firstly, how do you decide who is the groom and who is the bride in a gay marriage?" I had my doubts to clear.

"Is this your first question after hearing out the master plan?"

"Sorry," I then changed my question. "Why are you not directly asking your father for Arjun?"

"Shiv, my parents have recently agreed to the homosexual relationship," Ranveer explained further. "I don't want them to change their mind after hearing my other truth about Arjun."

"This is actual suicide Ranveer," I was not ready to buy his master plan.

"Shiv, we have been friends for more than twenty-five years," he then tried his best card. "Can't you do me this favour for the sake of our life-long friendship?"

I had a hesitation in my mind, but then I got carried away in the friendship and made the third mistake of the day.

We four were friends, but more of that, we were neighbours too. The fire of the news didn't take time to travel from one house to another and the news of the day was out amongst the friends. And the first burnout happened when I walked to my room after leaving Ranveer's house.

"Shiv," I was laying on my bed when I heard Suhana's voice at my door. It was the only good thing that happened to me for the whole day. Her newly peacock coloured hairs were perfectly synced with her beauty.

"Suhu, please come inside," I welcomed her in my room but wanted her in my arms.

"How can you do this to me?" Her voice broke while speaking and a roll of tears followed from her eyes.

"What happened, Suhana?"

"You were very well aware of my feelings for Priya from the very beginning, right?" She wiped her tears and walked to me. "How can you snatch her from me?"

"Suhu, there is a misunderstanding, let me explain," I took a step forward.

"I just got the news that you have agreed to marry Priya," she burst into tears in front of me. "I hate you Shiv."

I always wanted Suhana to fall for me, and I always wanted her to say the magical words to me. But hearing the exact opposite words of love from her mouth pulled me back. Before I could have gathered the courage to explain anything, Suhana raised her right hand to open the palms wide and perfectly placed them on my left cheeks with the force enough to make an echoed sound of a slap in the whole house.

She walked out of the room and left me behind with nothing but a sorry heart.

But the day was not over yet, and neither were my problems. I was sitting on the end of my bed and was still recollecting the moment that happened with Suhana when Priya knocked on my door.

"Priya," I raised my eyes to look at her. "What happened?"

"How can you do this to me?" She said with a breaking voice.

"Ah!" I let my energy drop. "Here we go again."

"You were very well aware of my feelings for Ranveer from the very beginning, right?" She walked to me with an aggressive attitude. "How can you snatch him from me?"

"I know you will not wait for my clarification," I stood from my bed to face her. "Please continue."

"I just got the news that you have agreed to marry Ranveer," She too burst into tears, but this time I was not responding with any feelings. "I hate you for this, Shiv"

And then, the argument was again followed by a tight slap from Priya and she left with tears in her eyes.

Shiv's POV ended.

"It explains well about the slap story," Shiv's father said after hearing out the complete truth. "And it also explains everything about that phone call as well."

"Which call?" Shiv asked with confused eyes.

"I wanted to tell you about the same during dinner time," his father continued. " I thought the whole family should be together for the news."

"What news, papa?"

"I had received the call from Priya's father in the evening," he revealed. "He wanted to meet us tomorrow to request for your and Priya's marriage."

"And, what did you reply?" Shiv's voice had a concern.

"I agreed to the relationship," his father said in a low voice.

Shiv exhaled after hearing the same and shook his head in disbelief.

"Nothing worse can go from here," he said with a heavy heart.

"Shiv," but his sorrow was interrupted by his mother's voice. "I was not expecting this from you."

"Maa, when you came?" Shiv asked her.

"You never thought of your family's reputation?" Her mother was not in the mood to hear Shiv, as she walked to him. "I just met Ranveer's mother while returning from the market."

"Oh!" It didn't take a moment for Shiv to understand the environment. "I was wrong, things can still go worse from here."

"I had never in my wildest dream thought that my son will have the gay disease," his mother said.

"Being gay is not a disease, maa," Shiv defended the rights with a low voice.

"For sure you will support the movement," his mother said and sat next to him on the bed. "But I never wanted my son to hate me for not agreeing with his ideology."

These words alerted Shiv for something worse to come.

"What you did, maa?" He asked with each word coming out of the mouth carefully.

"I said yes to them for this marriage," his mother revealed. "Although, I will never accept Ranveer as this family's bride."

It was enough for Shiv to break down mentally as he fell on the bed itself and hid again under the blanket.

"Or the groom, whichever you prefer," his mother completed her sentence.

"Please kill me," Shiv screamed from the blanket.

"What happened?" The confused mother turned to ask her husband. Shiv's father didn't waste a second and picked the paper and a pen from the table.

"Let me explain to you the pentagon," he said and started drawing the love train. "Give special attention."
