Samantha stand up and walk towards the private office of their captain. She knocks the door twice then she heard the "come in" from her captain.

"Sit down Sam and make yourself comfortable.", her captain said in a formal voice.
"How could I make myself comfortable when you sound so formal.", Samantha just thought about this words but didn't voice it out.

"I know you want to be a detective Sam and I know you have your personal reasons.", her captain said while looking straight to Samantha's eyes. Samantha smiled at him without saying a word.

"I'll give you an excellent grade Sam because you are doing well during your whole training. Anyway, feel free to come back in this office after graduation and passing the board exam. We will willingly accept you.", he said as he extend his hand to Samantha.

"Congratulation for doing well Sam.", he added.

"Thank you sir, I'll keep everything in my mind.", Samantha said.

Samantha saw a card in her table and she know it is from Lt. Holmes, Dianne told her. There's also a note with a calligraphic words saying "The team will miss you Samantha and Dianne."

That day ends and on monday Samantha starts to focus on her graduation. She contacted her uncle asking if he can attend her graduation but he said he can't, he is very busy in business and in his family. One more thing, Samantha don't have money to pay her graduation fee and she's already ashamed to her uncle. She can't asked her mother because they are not in good terms. It is very difficult for someone like her who don't have someone to lean on.

"If only father is alive then maybe all is well.", Samantha said to herself as tears flow in her face. She's alone in her room right now. Dianne is busy also but unlike her, Dianne have her parents and they are really supportive.

Thinking that her tears won't be able to solve her problems, Samantha wipe her tears and smiled at the mirror saying "You can do it Sam, endure a little more.". She dialed his uncle's again and asked for her graduation fee again. She promised that it will be the last time she'll ask for money, after graduation she'll look for work. Her uncle pity her and said "Wait until next week, I'll send you money.". Samantha said "Thank you.", then her uncle hang up.

A week later her uncle send her the money for her graduation fee, Samantha is very thankful and glad.

Then her graduation day come and she's now ready to walk in the stage alone or maybe she'll just ask her favorite professor to accompany her. But to Samantha's surprise, her mother showed up. Samantha is happy seeing her mother but what ruined her mood is the man beside her mother. Her mother insist that her stepfather must walk her in the isle but she strongly refused it. She wanted to vacant her other side so that her father will accompany her.

The graduation ceremony started and her mother wasn't in the mood because Samantha disagree the idea of having her stepfather in her other side. Then the cum laude's are called and Samantha's name wasn't included so her mother questioned her not knowing the struggle Samantha have faced just to finished this degree.

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V.

I'm not happy like the other graduates. I want to question my mother for not being there with me when I struggle in school, when I need her the most. The sight of my stepfather ruined my mood. Unlike other graduates, my smile doesn't reach my eyes. I want to burst out in tears. I want to shout my grief and anger.

As my name was called I stand up with my mother walking to the stage. I noticed the sticky look of the son of the President. I don't what's with him and what with his look, maybe because I did not wear any make up except for the red lipstick that suits my lips. When I reached at the stage he said "How are you ma'am?" to my mother and "Congratulation!" for me but he doesn't let go of my hands quickly. He slightly squeeze my hand so I look at his eyes and he smiled at me. I get my hand without smiling back, I won't fall by this playboy. I'm not sure if our dean noticed but I think she does.

Me and my mother walk towards our chair and sit down. I look at him again and that idiot is still looking at me. Anyway, he is cute and his smooth clear skin attracts a lot of woman in our campus including my classmates but not me. I never look at him again until the graduation ceremony ends. I did not join any party my classmates invited me to join instead me, Dianne, Rhianne and Messy go to the park to have some rides.

We ride a ferris wheel and I shouted my anger everytime I'm at the top. Vikings, Horror House, and actual Horse Riding. I tried to forget the pain that slowly crumpling me.

I want to drink alcohol but I choose not to. We lay in grass and observe the starry night as the cold air embrace us.

This night is one of the most unforgettable night in my life. This is the first night my mother allowed me to have a night out with friends.

I thought my college graduation will be the happiest day of my life but unfortunately, it was not. I just feel relieved because atlast I won't ask for a tuition fee again and soon I will be able to find work and have my own income. Yes I will look for a job and will just review at home, I have no money to pay for a review center. Maybe I'll just borrow some books from Lt. Holmes and will asked some advises from our captain.

It is around 3am when we got home and my mother and his live-in partner were already asleep inside our apartment.

The next day she told me that she need to get home to our hometown and she said if I wanted to come or I'll just look for a job here. I told her that I need to find a job here so I can't come with them. She nodded and leave without giving me a single penny for allowance but I expected it.

My mother always look at me as the strong one. She always look at me as someone who doesn't need attention because she know I can handle myself. My mother doesn't worry about me and I already know that since I was a kid. Nothing had change, nothing's new.
