" Oh Hello?! I'm speaking to you." Neil said waving his hands in front of her eyes. Avni realised that she had been imagining. Without another word she left his house and closed the door behind her to make sure he doesn't follow her. She felt that maybe Neil has forgotten about their past. Avni was in dilemma. She did not know what she should do - whether forgive him or thrash him for making her suffer all these years. Well, they too had a sweet little love story but everything ruined one day-

Neil and Avni first met each other at the age of ten. They played together, laughed at silly jokes and enjoyed their life to the fullest. They did not know what love was but gradually, as they grew they found themselves attracted to each other. At the age of thirteen, they were the closest of friends. Other kids would be envious of their unbreakable bond. They met during breaks, sat together in the canteen and shared their food. Every time Neil visited Avni, he would bring her heart shaped balloons and a lot of chocolates. They soon realised that they would not be able to live without each other. He was like her 'once in a lifetime dream come true'. 

Everyone in their family knew about their love story. Lot of incidents took place in their life at that tender age to break their relationship but all in vain. They trusted each other more than they trusted themselves....but then...

Avni remembered all this on her way back home. She felt the pain of the heartbreak. Every time she wondered that had their relationship so weak that Neil did not trust her. After so many years, today, she felt like Neil had forgotten her. 

Roshni was walking by her side praising Neil but it seemed like she was speaking to herself. Avni had turned deaf ear towards her. Not because she was speaking nonsense like a fan but because she did not want to cry in front of her. Roshni kept on speaking. She then realised that Avni was not responding to her at all. She looked at Avni's face. She could see that her eyes said a lot of things at the same time. She grew silent. 

Avni was happy to meet Neil after so long yet she was sad that they were like strangers. She still hated Neil for his negligence and she was angry with herself for falling in love with him. All her emotions were eating up her heart at the same time. She did feel like crying. Her eyes felt wet and cheeks had a burning sensation. She somehow wanted to run away to some other world. Roshni kept on noticing her till they came to a corner. There was a garden on the opposite side of the road and Roshni decided to take out the truth behind her sadness.

Avni did not realise this and was about to tell bye to Roshni but before she could tell it Roshni held her hand and took her in the garden. "What happened Roshni? I need to leave. Why are you taking me to the garden?" Avni screamed behind her.

"What happened to you?" Roshni screamed back. They stood in a desolate corner of the garden where there was less noise.

"What will happen to me?"Avni desperately wanted to go home but Roshni was determined to help her out.

"Oh really? I have been noticing you since the time we returned from Neil's house. There is something going on in your mind. Tell me."

"What nonsense! There is nothing going on in my mind. It's just that I am not feeling well."

"There is no nonsense Avni and I know you very well. You are lying to me." Roshni calmed down a little. She made Avni sit on a bench and held her hand. "Avni."

"Hmmm."

"I have a feeling that there is something not right between you and Neil. It seems like you don't want to share it with anyone. But ... Look at me Avni."

Avni looked at Roshni's friendly face. She knows that Roshni is trying her best to convince her but she doesn't feel like telling at that moment.

"Avni, I am your friend. Yes, I am Neil's fan but I am your friend first. You can always tell me what's bothering you."

Avni wanted to burst into tears. Her voice broke when she spoke up. "Roshni, THE PAST IS DEEP. It get's hidden with time but never heals completely. I am sorry. I can't tell you everything at this moment."

Avni broke down. Roshni could feel that in the deep abyss of time, Avni had faced something or the other which is linked with Neil. She didn't ask her much. She just hugged Avni and made it clear to her that she will always be with her.

Will Avni reveal her secret to Roshni? What had happened to Avni and Neil's relationship at that time? Why are they strangers now?
