Part 8 - Mr. or Mrs.?

Jannat, Skyline apartments, South Delhi, India

Mishty: Fiancée? ... how can you be his fiancée when he is already married?

Khushi: Oh please ... don't tell me you call it a marriage ...

Mishty: Of course it is ...

Khushi: (Shouting) ... no, it isn't ... it was treachery ...

Mishty: Don't you dare ... don't you dare call something as pure and divine as marriage as treachery ...

Khushi: (Rolling her eyes) ... pure and divine ... right ... hello lady ... (Clapping her hands) ... wake up ... it becomes pure and divine when both the parties in the marriage are equally aware and happy ...

Mishty: We are ...

Khushi: Maybe you are ... but he isn't ... oh, don't look at me like that, dear ... because I know your husband in and out ... in ways, you can't even imagine ...

Mishty: Oh don't be so delusional Ms. Lewis ... because you know what it was your fiancé who wanted to marry me as soon as possible

Khushi: (Chuckling) ... hahaha ... who told you this joke?

Mishty: (Gritting her teeth) ... it is not a joke ... it is the truth ... and it's Juhi Di ... his sister told me all this ... and not only that he even send a signed marriage application form, Sindoor and Mangal sutra with her ...

Khushi: And you believed that?

Mishty: Of course I did ... because Juhi Di never lies to me ...

Hearing her Khushi burst out laughing with a hand on her stomach and another one on Arnav's shoulder and he raised his eyebrow at her.

Khushi: Did you hear that Nav ... (Imitating Mishty) ... Juhi Di never lies to me ... hahaha ... Jeez, it's so funny ... I mean I thought my opponent was a woman ... but all I can see here is a whining child ... like seriously Nav ... is this the woman your family found for an intense and a matured person like you ... (Turning to Mishty) ... and you kid ... how old are you? ... I hope you are at least eighteen ... otherwise, my Nav will be in trouble you see ...

Mishty: (Fuming) ... of course, I am ... that's why the Indian government approved for our marriage and I became Mrs. Kshama Arnav Raizada while you are just ... just Ms. Lewis ... and yes ... don't go by my looks ... I am twenty-three ...

This again made Khushi laugh like hell and this time Arnav knew the reason even before she voiced out and he couldn't help but smirk at the stupefied look on his so-called family when she verbalized it.

Khushi: Looks  ... hahaha ... like seriously? ... (Shaking her head) ... by looks, especially your this ridiculous fashion sense you look like Nav's Aunty ...

Dadi: (Shouting) ... you ...

Kshama: Wait, Dadi Ji ... this is between me and her ... so let me speak to her ... (Turning to Khushi) ... and you ... then what did you mean by kid and child when I look like an Aunty to you ... wait ... how dare you call me an aunty?

Khushi: Again ... see Nav ... see this ... instead of thinking how to convince you to stay in this so-called marriage she is tensed about what I think about her looks ... Jeez ... and then she asks me why I called her a kid ... (Rolling her eyes) ... this is totally unbelievable man

Arnav: Yeah ... I know ...

Kshama: What ... Annav you are agreeing to her ... I won't talk to you ever again ...

Saying this she twisted her mouth and turned her head to the other side with a 'hmph' ... and this time even Arnav joined Khushi in the laugh.

Arnav: (Controlling his laugh) ... hey ... don't tempt me please, to do that again and again ...

But before Kshama could reply someone shouted 'SURPRISE' from the door and everybody looked there to see Gitu standing there with some packets. Arnav and Khushi smiled seeing her while others made an irritated face. Gitu walked two steps and seeing that she is still limping Arnav immediately walked towards her saying.

Arnav: Gitu ... we would have come down ... what was the need to stress yourself ...

Gitu: (Rolling her eyes) ... please, Nav ... I am perfectly alright

Arnav: (Sarcastically) ... yeah, I can see that ...

Gitu: Dude ... you are seeing your friend after months and instead of being happy you are scolding me ...

Arnav: Okay ... okay fine ... now don't start drama queen ... come here ...

He said extending his arms with a smile and she went to him and hugged him tight both feeling so happy to meet each other after a long gap, all thanks to their busy careers.

Arnav: Gitu ... I missed you, man ...

Gitu: Me too Nav ... me too ... ah before I forget ... (Kissing his cheeks) ... belated happy birthday Nav ...

Arnav mumbled a thank you and Khushi smiled at them while others got angry seeing that especially Kshama who was fuming seeing someone else kissing her husband. By now even Khushi had reached them and she tapped on Gitu's shoulder. Startled, Gitu turned around but a full-blown smile formed on her lips when she saw Khushi.

Gitu: Amyyyyyy ... I missed you ... missed you like hell babe

Saying this she jumped on Khushi who hugged her back with a happy chuckle and said.

Khushi: I too missed you a lot Gitu ... (Breaking the hug) ... by the way, how are you now ... and (Pointing at her brace) ... when will this be removed?

Gitu: Oh just two more days ...

Khushi: But like Nav said why did you come up ... we would have come down after breakfast ... I mean what was the necessity to strain yourself?

Gitu: Oh please Amy ... now you too don't start ... I am perfectly alright ... and like that also it was just two floors and it's not like I had to climb all the steps ... I came by elevator you see ...

Khushi: Okay ... okay fine, you come inside ...

Saying this Khushi held her hand and that's when Gitu saw her ring and squealed.

Gitu: Oh my God ... Nav ... you were absolutely right ... the picture doesn't do any justice to that ring ... I mean ... (Admiring her hand) ... Amy ... baby, it looks spectacular on you ... and it defines you so well ... classy and beautiful ... must say Nav has a great choice ...

Arnav: (Eyeing Khushi) ... of course ... my choices are always the best ...

Gitu: And ... hey, wait ... wait ... Amy ... what's that ... a new tattoo ...

Arnav: Oh I forgot to mention it to you ...that was the surprise gift ... (Removing the hair strands from Khushi's tattoo) ... see ...

Gitu: Oh really ... that is some awesome gift ...

Arnav: Yep it is ... now come ... get inside ...

Gitu nodded her head and picking the covers she left at the door walked inside with the other two saying.

Gitu: And I bought breakfast for you guys as Shan was saying to me that you were jetlagged and ...

But she stopped her ranting and got furious when she saw the people in the living room and shouted angrily.

Gitu: Nav ... what are these people doing here ... especially this thick-headed old lady?

Dadi: (Gritting her teeth) ... what do you mean by that ... this is my grandson's house and I don't need your permission ...

Arnav: Hey ... wait ... wait ... wait ... (With a dry chuckle) ... grandson ... from when?

Dadi: Arnav?

Arnav: What ... I said the truth Mrs. Raizada ... you have never considered me as your grandson but still, I was since even if estranged, I had a relation with your son ... but since that too doesn't exist anymore care to explain how am I your grandson?

Alok: (Painfully) ... Arnav ...

Arnav: (Chuckling) ... what Mr. Raizada ... did you forget your own words? ... don't worry let me remind you ... If you leave this house today then you are no more welcomed in RM ... and I will forget that I have a son named Arnav ... and you will be dead for us ... that was your exact words and since I did, I am dead for you guys or better ... (Gritting his teeth) ... you people are dead for me ...

Janki: Arnav ... he ... he didn't mean it like that ... he said that in the heat of the moment

Arnav: Oh my goodness ... you have got the ability to speak ... it is good to know that ... but it is of no use, Mrs. Raizada ... because you people no more affect me ... I am here for just three things ... one to complete my Dadu's unfulfilled dream two to get him justice and three to solve this mess you guys have again created by tying this creature with me

Kshama: Annav ...

Arnav: It's Arnav dammit ... Arnav Singh Raizada ... but that too is for people who are close to me ... for strangers especially enemies like you it is and always will be ASR

Kshama: En ... enemies?

Arnav: Of course ... the people we hate are termed as enemies

First, she had a worried look on her face but soon that changed and she burst out laughing surprising everybody present there and said.

Kshama: Oh Annav ... that was a nice joke ... I must say ... you haven't changed at all ... exactly like before ... remember how do you use to crack silly jokes to make Dada Ji...

Arnav: (Gritting his teeth) ... don't ... don't you dare to take his name with that filthy mouth of yours ...

Kshama didn't notice the reproachful look Arnav was giving her as she was in dreamland and said in a playful tone.

Kshama: Yeah ... this too ... getting angry for such silly things ...

Arnav: (Gritting his teeth) ... enough ... that's enough you bloody ...

Kshama: Enough ... what enough Annav ... oh, you are afraid that your so-called fiancée will finally understand that you are just pretending to be angry to rile me up just like you used to do in childhood ... (Smiling) ... but don't worry she might have understood that you love me when she got to know I am your wife ...

Arnav: Aise sochne ka galti bhi mat karna ... don't even make the mistake of thinking like that ... because I told you before and am telling you again I hate even the sight of you

Kshama: Ha...hate ... what are you saying Annav ... you love me right? ... I know you love me ... even Juhi Di told that you love me ... and why are you calling our love as a mistake ... Annav ... that is the biggest truth ... you love me, I love you and we are married to each other ... and we are going to live happily ever after

Khushi: Wow ... such a nice fairy tale ... but hey you forgot having kids ...

Kshama blushed hearing her while Arnav called her warningly.

Arnav: Amy ...

Khushi: Sorry ... sorry, Baby ... but I couldn't help seeing that dreamy look ...

Arnav: (Rolling his eyes and mumbling to himself) ... unbelievable ... here I thought she will be sad but Madam behaves as it is a comedy program ...

Gitu who heard that burst out laughing followed by Khushi. But they both stopped when Arnav glared at them warningly. He then turned to Kshama with a sharp look which made her squirm in her place and said in a deadly voice.

Arnav: And you ... my so-called wife ... hear me out ... hear me out clearly ... I hate you ... you got that ... I ... HATE ...YOU ... and that is the truth ... the sooner you are going to accept it the better for you, Ms. Gupta ...

Khushi: (Looping her hands through his) ... Baby ... Mrs. Raizada ...

Arnav had to close his eyes to hold onto every bit of self-control so that he won't shut his adorable fiancée in their own well-practiced and private way who was at the moment irritating the hell out of him. But he was shocked and opened his eyes when Gitu came to him and held his other shoulder saying.

Gitu: Yes ... yes ... Nav ... call her that ... after all, she had taken a lot of trouble to reach that position

Saying this she winked at Khushi and she winked back. And Arnav's respect for the two ladies standing on either side of him grew tenfold as he realized what the two besties were up to ... they were distracting him from that painful past by irritating the hell of him. He felt a little emotional and his hold on them tightened but soon he composed himself and said in a sarcastic voice.

Arnav: Yeah you are right ... at the moment she is Mrs. Raizada ... but you see it is better if I don't address her like that ... because it is obviously going to change soon

Khushi: But still ... poor kid ... let her use it till then ...

Gitu: Yes Nav ... after all, it might be her long-time dream ...

Arnav: (With an evil smirk) ... which I am going to turn into a nightmare ...

Kshama: Wha... what ... do you mean by that?

Arnav: Simple ... I am going to break this stupid marriage as soon as possible ...

Kshama: An...nav ... (With tears in her eyes) ... how ... how can you so easily say that you will break our marriage?

Arnav: (Chuckling) ... it is as simple as breathing to me ... (Tauntingly) ... Mrs. Raizada

Kshama: Annav, please ... why ... why are you speaking like this ... see everybody is happy ... Dadi Ji ... Papa Ji ... Maa Ji ... Papa ... Mamma ... Juhi Di

Arnav: And you think these people's happiness even matters to me ... in fact, if I can ... I will snatch every happiness of them for even thinking to tie you with me

Alok: Arnav ... please don't do this ... you hate us and we totally understand you ... but why are you punishing the girl you love for no mistake of hers by saying again and again that you hate her

Arnav: (Shouting at the top of his voice) ... because I hate her ... and you know the reason too, right? ... she is a criminal

Alok: Arnav ... you ... you still believe that?

Arnav: I did then right ... so what changed so suddenly that I will change my belief ... because as far as I know my Dadu hasn't come back ... (Gulping) ... nor is he going to ... he is dead forever remember ... and so is my hate for the murderers of my Dadu ... forever

Alok: No ... Arnav it wasn't them ... don't you remember the case? ... they were proved as innocents

Arnav: If you are talking about the case Adv. Gogi won with the help of false proof... yes, I do ... I perfectly remember how justice for my Dadu was denied ... but don't worry this time everybody will suffer for what they did ...

Dadi: What ... what do you mean by that?

Arnav: Be prepared Mrs. Raizada the court notice will soon reach you and your partners ... you see I am reopening Dadu's case ... and this time he will get justice because it is his grandson Adv. Arnav Singh Raizada who is going to fight for him ... and I promise you ... I will go to any extent ... I repeat any extent to get him the justice he deserves ...

Dadi: You won't do anything like that

Arnav: And who will stop me? ... you ... (Shaking his head) ... I am not going to back out from this case even if Dadu himself comes and tells me ... so count your days Mrs. Raizada ... (Winking) ... because it will help you in the future to count the bars ...

Kshama: Annav ... you ... you still think that I am one of Dada Ji's murderers and ... (Gulping) ... and you are going to fight against me in the court ...

Arnav: I just don't think ... I know you are one of Dadu's murderers and about fighting against you ... yes ... I am going to fight against you ... not once but twice ... remember we have to break that marriage ...

Kshama: No ... no ... you can't do that to me Annav ... you ... you can't divorce me ... I ... I won't agree with this ...

Arnav: I don't need your agreement on this Mrs. Raizada because it's a pure case of treachery ... you guys or better the Raizada princess tricked me into this marriage ...

Alok: What Arnav ... Juhi will never do something like that ... why are you accusing her?

Arnav: (Smiling sarcastically) ... as always the daddy dearest can't hear something against his princess, right? ... but that is the truth ... your precious Juhi tricked me in the name of property transfer ...

Alok: Property transfer?

Arnav: Yep ... she told me that you have divided seventy-five percent of your property into three and I was the owner of one-third ... I still wonder how ...

Dadi: Alok ... when did this happen ... you never told me ... and why did you give him a share?

Alok: (Looking longingly at Arnav) ... because he is my son

But Arnav ignored that look and statement completely and said.

Arnav: Anyway ... so she wanted me to transfer my shares into her and Sanjay's name and I did ... after all, I had no intention of keeping something undeserved ... but that witch had tricked me somehow into signing that stupid document even after knowing I have someone in my life ...

Kshama: What the hell are you saying ... Juhi Di will never do something like that ... she knows how much I love you ... how much your love means to me ... so maybe she might have tricked you to sign the documents and might have lied to all of us not to worry us ... but I am sure she wouldn't be knowing that you were with ...with ... someone ...

Arnav: Jeez ... wake up, woman ... she barged in our bedroom when we ... (Looking at Khushi who blinked at him) ... we were ... (Looking away) ... getting intimate ... (Sighing) ... anyway, leave that ... she had destroyed my happy life and she and along with her all of you are going to pay for it ... I will make sure of that

Adarv who had just reached there, along with Nitya as he was afraid of the consequences when he got to know from Sanjay that his parents, Dadi and Kshama went to meet the prosecutor of the rape case since he knew who the prosecutor is, heard his last statement and asked in a pleading voice.

Adarv: But Arnav ... why make it an issue ... cant you two go for mutual divorce?

Dadi: Adi ... he is speaking nonsense and instead of stopping you are supporting him ... (Turning to Arnav) ... and you ... I know why do you want to do this ... to get married to that ... (Looking at Khushi with disgust) ... foreign girl, right ... but that is not going to happen ... you like it or not ... you will keep married to Mishty ... and this cheap girl will go from here because I am not letting you tarnish the Raizada image by breaking a marriage

Arnav: Don't you dare ... don't you dare you old witch to call my Amy with names because you will have to face me then ... and yes your hollow threats are not going to work ... as it is Arnav Alok Raizada is dead long back and the one standing before you is Arnav Singh Raizada ... and yes, you are right I want to break this so-called marriage so badly because I want to get married to her ... (Looking at Khushi) ... firstly because I love her and secondly ... (Looking at Kshama) ... she isn't worthy to be called my wife ... and more than all that ... Adarv how did you thought I will leave such a golden chance to trouble ... (Showing with his hands) ... these people to go away like this? ... so no, I am not going for a mutual divorce instead I am going to press charges for forgery ... oh, don't look at me like that ... even if they can prove I signed the marriage application form ... which again is a very low possibility ... anyway, leave that where was I ... yeah ... even if they proved that is my original signature ... who signed the marriage certificate ... the ledger in the registrar office?

Alok: Juhi ... she had sent it to you, right?

Arnav: Are you even for real Mr. Raizada ... which registrar will borrow the official ledger to be sent to Canada and back here ... are you even aware of your surroundings? ... (Raising his both hands in surrender) ... sorry, wrong question ... Juhi said ... so no need of thinking there

Adarv: So that means the signature was done by someone else ... and that means it is a forgery

Dadi: So what ... he wasn't present so someone else signed what's the problem with that?

Adarv: Dadi it is a forgery

Arnav: Yes ... and that is a criminal offense ... whoever did that will either be jailed or will have to pay a fine or both

Alok: What?

Arnav: Yep...

Dadi: Alok ... don't believe him ... he is just making stories ... I am sure there isn't any law like this ... this is all his tricks to hide your heinous crimes

Arnav: (Raising his eyebrow) ... now you will teach me the law ...

Dadi: Yes ... if you don't know the law being a lawyer I will have to do that ... in fact, it is you who is going to be inside the jail ... oh don't look at me like that you may not be knowing this living in a foreign country but it is India ... and you being a married man is in a relationship with another girl ... that is a heinous crime here and that is more than enough to put you behind the bars ... you know this well so you are playing tricks with us to escape from the law

She said this with an attitude and Arnav burst to laugh. Kshama looked at Dadi hopefully thinking she can somehow save her marriage while others looked at her as if she had gone mad.

Arnav: Please ... please don't make me laugh like this ... don't you know the new adultery rule in India? ... From twenty-seventh September 2018, IPC section 497 is defunct ... but even before that, there is no chance you can put me behind the bars since Amy is unmarried ... the maximum you can do with the information that I have been through adultery is that you can file for divorce ... and that is going to favor me only

Dadi was angry hearing that as he is again going against them while Janki and Alok were sad as they realized that they had hurt him again by getting him married to Kshama even without talking to him on just Juhi's words. But Kshama was struck at one word and whispered brokenly.

Kshama: Ad... (Gulping) ... adultery

Arnav: What ... don't tell me you expected me to be a saint ... and that too ... (Side hugging Khushi) ... when I have been dating this gorgeous girl for the past eight years and have been living together for the past four years ... (Looking at Khushi) ... what?

He asked confused as she grinned and whispered in his ears.

Khushi: Was just thinking what would have been her reaction if she had witnessed our first kiss ...

And Arnav had to bite his cheeks to not to smile because Kshama wouldn't be even out from school then and to see their passionate kiss which happened between a heated argument in the Harvard Law School campus and set the whole college on fire was really scandalous. And that is the truth too even if he didn't hate Kshama he can never stay married to her because she was always an immature girl for him while Khushi was his woman who was the only one who has seen and as well as handled the different sides of ASR ... be it happy, emotional, sad, moody, angry, romantic, and of course the passionate one ... she has not only handled but also matched him step to step in passion. Oh how much he loves that feisty side of hers ... he came out of his thoughts when he heard Adarv.

Adarv: But Arnav ... the divorce procedures are very long in India right? ... I guess you have to be separated for at least a year or something before filing a divorce with mutual consent ... and even if you don't want it mutually on what grounds are you going to file a divorce against Mishty? ... I mean she was as oblivious as you were

Kshama: And I am obviously not going to sign the mutual consent for divorce ... I ... I can't let you go Annav

Arnav: (Smirking) ... as I said earlier mutual consent is not an option ... and about on what ground I can file divorce soon she is going to be punished for my Dadu's murder you see ... and that makes her a criminal

Kshama: Annav ... please ... please don't say that ... I was just a child then

Arnav: (Gritting his teeth) ... so you agree you are guilty ... anyway even without all that I wasn't aware nor I was willing for this marriage ... I was tricked into this ... and I don't want to continue this and that's enough ground for a divorce ... especially since we haven't consummated the marriage ...

Kshama: Annav ... please give me a chance ... I ... I love you ... I love you so much that it hurts not to see you before me ... please ... please don't divorce me ...

Arnav: And like I said that day ... I hate you ... I hate you so much that it hurts to see you before me ... but don't worry I am not going to divorce you ...

Janki, Alok, Dadi, and Kshama smiled hearing him while others except Khushi looked at him shocked. But soon that shock turned into relief when he completed his words.

Arnav: Because I need an annulment ...

Dadi: (Scrunching her eyebrows) ... annulment ... what is that?

Arnav: Annulment is a legal procedure that makes a marriage null and void

Dadi: Matlab (means)?

Arnav: Matlab yeh hai ki ... yeh, shadi adhikarik roop se raddh karegi ...

Dadi: What the hell ... no ... you won't do that ...

Arnav: And like I said earlier who is going to stop me ... I am going to do exactly that because you see ... (Side hugging Khushi) ... she isn't that worthless to be called as my second wife ... and I will make sure that Dr. Khushi Amal Lewis will remain as the first and only wife of Arnav Singh Raizada

Dadi: Arnav ... what is with this Arnav Singh Raizada ... Arnav Singh Raizada ... you are Arnav Alok Raizada ... how can you just remove your father's name from your name ...

Arnav: I was ... I was, Arnav Alok Raizada ... but I was never a son of Alok Rakesh Raizada ... you can check any of my documents ... in every document, the term parent is struck out ... it was always guardian ... until Dadu left it was him and after that, it became Yash Uncle until I turned eighteen ... but yes I am still a Singh Raizada ... Arnav Singh Raizada ... just ... just because I am the grandson of Rakesh Singh Raizada ... (Sighing) ... and yes since it is you guys I don't want to hear anything about the rape case ... so if your questionnaire sessions are over the door is that way ... now let us meet in the court ...

Dadi: Of course we are going ... as it is we are not interested to be in a place where ... (Looking at Khushi) ... girls like her exist ... and you girl ... aren't you ashamed to call yourself the fiancée of a married man and for being the other woman in a couple's life?

Khushi: (Smirking) ... before her husband he was my boyfriend and even fiancé because it's just last week the marriage got legalized, right? ... and what does that mean ... (Shrugging) ... I guess you got my point ...

Kshama: Annav ... are you ... are you sure you ...you are going to ... (Gulping) ... nullify our marriage ...

Arnav: Cent percent ... just wait till I get hold of the documents ...

Kshama first frowned hearing him but then smiled a little as she realized something and asked curiously.

Kshama: That ... that means if you don't get that document you can't prove that the signatures were forged, right?

And Arnav's glare was enough for her to know that she was right and so she said with a smile.

Kshama: You won't get the ledger and application form anyway ... as it is with the government ... and the marriage certificate ... it is with me ... and you are never going to get that ... because knowingly or unknowingly you became my husband and I see that as a sign from Bhagavan and I promise you Mr. Raizada by hook or crook I will protect our marriage and also will prove my love to you ...

Arnav: Yeah right ... a sign from Bhagavan ... this is the highest level of stupidity ... and yes ... I too promise you Mrs. Raizada by hook or crook I will destroy this marriage

Kshama: We will see ...

Arnav: Of course we will see ... in court ...

Hi hi ... even though I know the answer tell me with whom you are? ... Mr. or Mrs
