Underneath the pale blue sky

Po made his way back to his room around 1:15, leaving him some time to think over the next round of chatting he'd have to do. He really hoped Song didn't take him through the village because he didn't feel like thinking about the embarrassing photos Mr. Ping had taken and if he had possibly shown any more naked childhood photos to Lam. He sat on his bed and looked over at his list of activities, only to see a giant line of ink towards the bottom of the list.

"What the heck?!" the master exclaimed, picking up the scroll and examining it. There was so much ink on the one line that it had actually bled through the scroll and leaked all over the side table. (It had also partially taken out the two sentences it was sandwiched between). Po frowned. He didn't remember crossing anything out. And even if he had, he never would have crossed it out with this much ferocity! Po thought hard about what he had written down on the list, but he couldn't remember. He put the scroll back down on the table and sat back on his bed to think everything over. Fifteen minutes later there was a knock on the door and Song appeared along with her umbrella.

"Hey, Po," she greeted cheerfully. "Ready for our talk?"

"Yep," Po said, getting up from his bed. "Where are we headed?"

"I noticed there were back paths around the grounds, and your master said they led to the Wu Dan mountains. It's supposedly very pretty, so he let me set everything up there as long as we don't leave  any trash behind."

The two left the barracks and made their way towards the peaceful mountains where Song asked what Po had been thinking about when she walked in. "You looked very perplexed about something," she said.

"I wrote down some fun activities that maybe we could all do," Po explained. "But when I came back from lunch with Lam, I noticed that one line on the scroll was inked out like crazy! Like, the ink actually leaked through the page!"

"Oh!" Song exclaimed. "That is strange. I'm guessing you didn't do it then?"

"No. I'm not even sure when it was inked out. I didn't look at it at all after I came back from talking to Ordai, and I just noticed it when I came back from talking to Lam, so I'm not who did it. Or why."

"When did you write it down?"

"I wrote it down some time before the meeting with Ordai, so around 10:30."

Song frowned. "I can't think of who would want to erase an activity on the list," she admitted. "Unless maybe someone glanced at it while passing by and decided they didn't feel comfortable doing it. But I would imagine they'd just cross it out and not tarnish the paper."

"I'm not sure. I wish I knew though."

The pair soon made their way up the back paths of the Jade Palace and up the side of the mountains to their afternoon spot. Song had set up a small tea table and some tea right by the Pool of Sacred Tears as she had thought it to be a very pretty spot. Po promised her that, maybe in the future, they could tour more of the mountain. (With Shifu's permission of course).

"I figured the other girls were stuffing you senseless all day, so I thought a simple tea picnic would be better," Song said as she sat down and closed her parasol.

"I don't mind, but I appreciate the consideration," Po told her as he joined her at the table.

Song poured out the tea with a smile. "It's been a long time since we've hung out," she reflected. "I really wish we could have seen each other sooner, but between your duties, my team undergoing a serious reform, and of course, you moving away...well, circumstances haven't been the best, I suppose. But now we have all the time in the world."

"How are the other ladies?" Po asked curiously as he took his tea cup.

"They're doing well," Song said, taking a sip. "There was a lot of groaning when it came to returning all the stolen items back, but it got done. Eventually. Now we're known as the most formidable group since the Wu Sisters. We hunt down thieves now instead of it being the other way around."

"That's cool! But you probably know all their tricks."

"Not all of them, but it doesn't take long to figure out what trick tiles they have hidden up their sleeves."

Po drank some of his tea and laugh. "I feel bad for being so oblivious," he admitted. "I realized later that you were trying to flirt with me and it completely went over my head!"

"You're also not the most stereotypical romantic person," Song admitted. "You're all about having a good time without any strings attached. Which I appreciate, and did then. You know, when you spend so much time with your mind on one goal, you kind of ignore everything else."

"I know that feeling," Po told her sheepishly. "One time I tried to take down a psychotic tyrant trying to destroy all kung fu masters and I was so focused on trying to get him to talk that I walked right into his trap. Thrice."

"Well, no one's perfect," Song assured him. She finished her last drop of tea and poured herself another cup. "Speaking of your friends," she added. "I can't help but notice that Tigress is giving me dirty looks and it's making me really uncomfortable."

"She's probably still mad about you stealing the Dragon Chalice all those years ago," Po explained. "If there's one thing I've learned about Tigress from living at the Jade Palace, and I've learned a lot, is that it's really hard to earn her trust. It took forever for her to let me hang out in her room because she thought I was going to invade her personal belongings. Not that she has that much."

"I'm surprised you guys are such good friends. You seem like total polar opposites."

"Well I'm glad we are because she's such an awesome friend. You'll think so too once you earn her trust. Which I don't think should take too long. She's definitely gotten a lot better since the last time we've seen you."

Song smiled wanly. "That makes me feel a little better," she admitted. "Though I guess we'll see."

She poured Po some more tea and decided to change the subject. "So, how are things in the Tsung Village?"

"Really awesome! It's a lot of fun teaching the kids new moves and making sure that they're ready against whatever threats come their way. Of course, Rai and I have to train at night to keep up our own training and of course we have to go out a lot to keep all the raiders out- Wait a minute! Does your troupe know anything about this?"

"Yep," Song promised with a warm smile. "I told one of the girls that I was going away for a while to try and win the heart of an old flame of mine, and if circumstances changed for me, she'd be the new leader. She's being put in charge while I'm gone."

"Ah," Po said, turning a slight shade of red from the flattery. "Well, it's nice to know they're in good paws."

Song sat back and thought for a moment, taking another sip of her tea. "I'm assuming Rai is the other master you're working with?"

"Yeah, she's really nice. Actually, she just wrote to me earlier this week to say that her and her fiancé are getting married in the Tsung village when the winter season hits."

"Oh, she's engaged?!" Song exclaimed in surprise. "That's so sweet!"

"Yeah, and her fiancé is pretty cool. He's very helpful with the kids."

Song thought for another moment. "You know," she suggested. "Since you're always working around kids, maybe it might be a good idea to spend a day with some of the kids in the village. Just as a sneak preview for what to expect for whoever moves to the Tsung Village."

"Ohhhhh! That's a great idea!" Po exclaimed excitedly. "Aw, it's too bad I didn't bring my list! Remind me to write that down later?"

"I will."

The two quietly drank their tea and stared out past the landscape in front of them. (Though the giant rock in the middle of the pond obstructed part of that view). There wasn't much else the two could think of to say, so they just enjoyed the view. The pond rippled a little from the wind which passed through the grassy mountains, some trees off in the far distance could be heard swaying back and forth, and the murmur of the villagers echoed just a bit into the open mountain plains. Song poured some more tea. Gentle sips were heard. And then just quiet. And quiet.

Po and Song wouldn't have minded the quiet, but Po couldn't help but feel that he had to comment on the scenery. "You know," he said. "We should totally come here at sunrise. Shifu used to take me up here when I was first training, and the sunrise is so nice."

"Is it? I would have thought the surrounding mountain tops would have blocked everything."

"Nope. You can see all the colors from every angle. Not to mention that you feel like you can almost touch the sun on some of the cliffs. Or the tops of the rocks. Whichever you prefer."

Song giggled. "Well then, you'll have to take me up here sometime soon and show me," she persuaded. "Maybe when all the excitement from today is over and we have more free time."

"Yeah, that'd be a fun group activity."

Song smirked. "I meant just you and me, silly," she corrected.

Po blinked and then immediately turned a slight shade of red. "Oh, right," he said quickly. "But...won't that be unfair to everyone else?"

"Not really. The whole idea is for you to get to know us on a personal level. And I'm sure the other girls are probably imagining specific one-on-one times with you."

Po immediately thought about Ordai and how she preferred midnight picnics. She had probably meant with just him too, though it wouldn't do any harm to ask.

"I guess that would make sense," he noted. "But I have plenty of group activities for us all to do too so that I can-"

The miniature gong finally sounded, telling the pair that their hour was up.

"Well, it was great hanging out with you again," Song told Po sweetly. "I look forward to my time here."

"Same," Po said, quickly getting up so that he could make it back to the barracks. "I guess I won't see you for the rest of the day, so...see you tomorrow?"

"Until tomorrow."

Po then began to leave when Song called back out, "Don't forget about spending a day with children!!!"

"Oh!!!! Right!!! Thanks!!!!"

And then he was gone.
