Action Buddies

Po scribbled some stuff down on the piece of paper that he had, trying to think of more activity ideas that everybody could do. He was definitely feeling a lot better now that he was starting to slowly get used to all the girls and understand them much better. He didn't have many more ideas to add to the list, so he just sat there for the time being and waited for time to pass by. Around 6:20, he began to head over to the Dragon Grotto where he was greeted by some very enticing aromas. Rounding the bend and climbing over some rocks brought him to Lu-Shi who was sitting excitedly inside the cave.

"Hey, Po!" she exclaimed excitedly upon spotting him. "Come on in! Monkey helped me bring this stuff in since there were a ton of rocks around here."

"I was wondering about that," Po admitted as he sat next to her on one of the rocks inside the cave and peered hungrily at the food she had brought for dinner: sweet and sour dumplings and tea. "The terrain up here can get pretty hard to climb around." He placed the timer down in between themselves and then accepted a bowl that Lu-Shi gave to him.

"Yeah, but it was kinda' fun actually," Lu-Shi admitted before stuffing her face with dinner. She swallowed and added, "There's just something so fun about leaping through the air, ya' know?"

"Totally," Po agreed. He stuffed his face as well and the two almost immediately began to dive into conversation about how they had been, how their dads had been, how Lu-Shi's brother was, what they had been doing since they had seen each other last, and so on so forth. They devoured the dumplings within ten minutes and the tea within five, and then began to talk about new kung fu techniques they had learned and any new action figures they had collected.

"My brother just taught me how to do the Hoof and Head Spine Crunch!" Lu-Shi squealed giddily. "I'd totally show you, buuuuut I don't want to put you on bedrest."

Po winced. "Yeah, definitely doesn't sound like something up my alley," he admitted. "How do you even teach that to someone?"

"Oh, it's easy," Lu-Shi told him excitedly. "My brother has me practice on a half-filled sand bag and throws it at me. It takes a lot of lifting, but once you get into the rhythm it's pretty simple."

"We have a training dummy in our training hall. Would that work?"

"Nah, it needs to be half-full. If it wobbles upright like that, it won't work as an effective target."

"Oh, okay. Well, that's okay. Maybe another time. Ooh! Did I tell you all about the souvenir shop by the Tsung village? They literally have the rarest ones over there! I found a Pranking Monkey complete with real mini banana peels!"

"Get out of here!!!!" Lu-Shi screeched, punching Po violently in the arm in her excitement. "You have to show me that! Please tell me you brought it!"

"Yeah I did, but it's in my room in my travel case. I'd hate to have to drag you all the way down to see them and then time goes off."

"Oh I don't mind. Though then again, we'd probably have more fun if we just looked over the action figures all together."

"That's true. We can save that for another time."

"Yeah, then I can show you my twist and whip Viper."

"YOU GOT WHAT NOW??!!!!!!

They talked a bit longer about new action figures and trinkets and day-to-day activities before calming down and moving into more nuanced discussion. They also decided to sit a bit closer to the front of the cave to get a nice view of the Valley of Peace as the sun went down and splashed breathtaking colors across the sky.

"This is such a nice view," Lu-Shi sighed happily admiring the orange and pink splashes across the clouds in the distance.

"Yeah, it really is," Po agreed. "It's kind of too bad that masters with high ranking titles have the rule where you can't marry someone without having to give up your title. I think you would have really liked it here."

"Me too." They sat in silence for a bit longer before Lu-Shi asked, "Masters of high ranking titles can't marry? It isn't just you?"

"Apparently. Normally masters can get married if they'd like to, though most usually just leave their positions since it's kinda' hard having a family and saving everybody from invaders. But people who have a real high title, like me or like Master Shifu, they can't marry because their particular position requires a lot of time and energy and also because their wife would be in a lot of danger being high up on the master pole and so close to all kinds of kung fu secrets bad guys really shouldn't know anything about."

Lu-Shi thought for a moment. "I always wondered why Shifu never married," she said. "I thought it would be so cute if he had married Fenghuang from the old Furious Five, but that was way before I was born. And I guess with the history, that'd be kind of awkward."

Po gave her a weird look.

"What? I was a huge FenghuangXShifu person. I used to do fan arts all the time of my favorite masters! I even drew a giant picture of Master Thundering Rhino with his epic armor and battle hammer- aww!!!! I should have brought that with me! Oh well. Maybe next time we visit I'll bring it. Or if we get married. Then I can put it with our entire collection of kung fu master memorabilia."

Po turned a little red, but he sounded intrigued by the idea. "I'm very curious to see it," he admitted. "Let's plan on it."

They looked back out at the sunset for a moment before Lu-Shi looked back at Po and said, "Thanks again for saving me and Shao from Jungie. Poor dad had no idea what was going on until we wrote to him."  She laughed. "You're very creative when it comes to awesome kung fu power moves," she complimented. "Pillars of the Ouch! That was great!"

Her and Po both burst into laughter just thinking about it.

"I have to say," Po told Lu-Shi. "Despite all the crazy stuff that happened, I had a lot of fun with being engaged to you."

"I know, me too!" Lu-Shi exclaimed giddily. "Swapping action figures, talking about the best kung fu masters who ever existed, planning a wedding, catching up on lost time.... It would have been real nice if Jungie hadn't intervened."

"Yeah....I wonder what things would have been like if we had actually gone through the wedding....."

"I think even without Jungie, we probably wouldn't. We'd only met up for four days. Even I didn't feel too comfortable about it at the time. Keeping in touch a little helped."

"Yeah, sorry for not writing a ton....."

"That's okay. Hey, speaking of catching up...now I don't know if you brought over your whole collection....but I brought all my action figures with me so we could do another show-off and trade session," Lu-Shi offered. "And since we both have new ones, maybe we could make a date out of it some time so we have more time?"

"That'd be awesome! I always bring all my action figures with me, you know, just in case I feel like making an imaginary battle in the middle of the night. Ooh! Maybe we could do it in the training hall in the evening so that we don't disturb everyone."

"That'd be so cool! Let's plan it! When should we do it?"

Po thought for a second. "I don't know what we're doing tomorrow," he said. "But maybe tomorrow or the next day. We should do it soon before we forget."

Lu-Shi thought for a second but was interrupted with the faint sound of splashing from down below the waterfall. "Did you hear that?" she asked.

"It's probably one of the villagers," Po explained. "There's usually a whole bunch of them at the bottom of the falls trying to splash in the water. Especially when it's hot out."

Lu-Shi smiled. "Well then, when it's really hot out, we should have a turn splashing under the waterfall," she suggested. "Or in a lake or something!"

"Actually, there's a river nearby that's pretty calm and fun to splash in," Po thought aloud. "Maybe we could have a picnic or something over there sometime and just hang out. I'll write it down on my list so I don't forget."

"Ooh cool! You have a list of group activities?!" Lu-Shi squealed excitedly. "Because I'm definitely thinking of a few fun things we could totally do all together! Like, a boat racing contest, or a cupcake eating contest or a stuff-a-ton-of-dumplings-in-your-mouth contest-!!!"

"Ooh! That one sounds like fun!" Po exclaimed. "I can definitely beat all my friends at that one! How about a-"

The miniature gong then sounded, indicating that the one hour had finally expired.

"Ah, that's too bad!" Lu-Shi sighed. "Oh well, that's okay. We can talk about it more tomorrow."

"Sounds like a plan to me. I gotta' go so I'm not late for Jai-Rong, but see you tomorrow then?"

"Definitely!"

Lu-Shi then began to clean up her mess and Po quickly but carefully made his way out of the Dragon Grotto and back down to the main courtyard of the Jade Palace.
