~Y/N POV~

(20 YEARS OLD)

There's something about coming to the border that just seems safe. Normally you're not aloud to go to the border because my dad says it's not safe but at the same time I grew up coming to the border with either my dad or Patrick my dads beta.

No one else is aloud to come here and you're really not suppose to but what my dad doesn't know is that I sneak out sometimes to the river. Late at night when everyone is sleeping. I've found some sort of peace coming to the place I apparently almost drown in. I don't know the full story but that I almost drown and that was it.

I never feel alone so I come here but not during mating season, that's a whole different story. I was hoping by the time I came of age going into heats I would of found my mate so I wouldn't have to be so drugged up all the time but no, I've found no one. It's disappointing really and I just have to put up the pain that is only subsided a little with the medication I have to take to ease it but being an omega makes that heat so much more worse. Over the two years though I've managed to bare it and get use to it.

I may not be able to fulfil my wish in becoming an alpha like my mom and dad but I can only hope that my mate where ever and who ever he may be can live up to that standards, I just know it.

Speaking of mates my two best of friends and my only friends are mates too. Winter who is also an omega like me, we're the same age too and we met when I began to work as a teacher to the pups in a small school that's not too far away from where I live. Her mate Edward well Ed we call him, he doesn't like his name so we call him Ed, is Patrick son. I grew up with him but my dad was very cautious about that and is very protective of me with others because of my rank. Ed is to be my mates beta, to take on his dads position for whenever that day comes.

To see Ed and winter together makes me feel jealous. Don't get me wrong I'm happy for them but when we hang out together like we are right now after I convinced them to come with me to the shallow part of the river that doesn't have such strong currents.

They're holding hands, cuddling and kissing here and there I watch them silently in my own jealous world.

I sat down on a nearby rock while watching two flirt and play in the water together. You wouldn't of thought it was my idea about coming here but it was and they're having a much better time than me here.

It only reminds me that mating season is in a couple months and I'll have to endure the pain all over again, alone.

Sigh.

"Hey Y/n! Come over here and join us!" Winter

She shouted, waving her arms in the air but stopped with a yelp of surprise when Ed jumped up from behind her and grabbed her from behind and wrapped his arms around her waist to rest his chin on her shoulder. Jealous, I'm jealous.

"No thanks I'll stay here!"

I waved at the two lazily and forced a smile. Winter pouted at my words and Ed kissed her cheek. I bit my lip and looked away, bringing my knees to my chest and looking towards the bushes to my right.

"Come on Y/n, it was your idea to come down here." Ed

I turned back to look at him for a second and shook my head.

"No I'm good. You two have fun."

I said that a little more bitter than I thought and Ed laughed at me since he knows me better than Winter actually does, we grew up together.

"Oh I know what's wrong with you." Ed

I rolled my eyes and refused to look at him. My ears picked up some whispering from the two standing in the water. Winter started to giggle mischievously and I knew right there and then something was up.

As soon as I heard water splashing as if someone was walking through the water to come closer I quickly turned in that direction to see Ed stepping through the water with his cocky smirk on his face.

"Ed! No!"

I backed up, dragging my butt back across the rocks and dirt, one hand up in the air facing him to warn him off but he only grew into a wide grin because of what he was about to do.

"Ed, back up now."

I couldn't help the laugh escape my lips and he burst out laughing at my panicked face.

"No way Y/n, there's no stopping me." Ed

Ed was a big guy, he's tall and has muscles on him, so I'm not match for his beta self since I'm an omega but I could try running but I know that wont work out too well either but I could at least try it.

"No where to go little omega." Ed

Winter no longer able to hold in her own laughter started to cackle at my misery of her mate stalking his way towards me. As soon as his feet stepped on dry land I stood up, stumbling backwards almost tripping over my own feet.

"Ed don't you dare! I'll tell my dad!"

That's the only threat I could think of but that didn't stop him.

"He's not here y/n. Now come here!" Ed

He launched himself at me with open arms and I squealed and stepping to the side as quickly as I could and ran down the stream a little bit. If he wanted to catch me he would of but I think he's gonna play a little bit.

I ran down stream with Ed hot on my tail. I have to admit it was pretty fun and winters laughter following us as she ran after Ed.

Still trying to get away from being thrown into that water I ran leaped over a bush and into the woods and continued to run.

Winters laughter died down as I ran further into the woods but I could still hear Ed's fast steps approaching. I knew it was him because I could smell his scent behind me but the moment he mindlinked me I stopped in fear.

"Y/n we're in the no lands. We must go back!" Ed

I gasped and turned around in fear. Ed was still running towards me and grabbed my hand when he finally approached me.

"Let's get out of here before something happens." Ed

I only nodded and he began to tug me along with him back to where winter stood at the end of the forest.

"Not so fast wolves." Vampire 1

I froze and Ed immediately pushed me to hide behind him and growl loudly at the threat. The disgusting scent of musk and blood. Vampires.

"Fuck off leech." Ed

He growled and I tried hide further behind Ed for safety at the two vampires that stood in front of us, gripping onto the back of Ed's wet T-shirt, forming a fist with the scrunched up fabric under my frightened touch.

"Excuse me, is that anyway to talk to those who rule this land?" Vampire 1

He sneered with an fake offended expression.

"You don't own this land! No one owns this land!" Ed

He snarled, reaching around to hold my wrist firmly to keep me in place but unfortunately someone grabbed me my the waist and twirled me around out of Ed's grasp and into their hard chest.

"Now what do we have here?" Vampire 2

The vampire sniffed my hair and chuckled when I whimpered in fear, shivering in their arms.

"An omega. I know what your type are used for. Tell me little one, do you have a mate yet or do you whore around like the others?" Vampire 2

I tried to push away but I came to no use. The vampire that held me started to laugh at my struggles.

"Let her go!" Ed

Ed tried to grab me again but was caught off guard when a vampire kicked him at such force he flew in the air to a distance and knocked his head off the side of the solid oak tree. 

Winter began to scream in fear in the distance sensing something wrong with Ed and I began to cry and fight off the vampire, hitting him in the chest.

But he scoffed and pushed me to the floor.

"Do you know what we do to omegas? They're very tasty."  Vampire 2

He licked his lips with a look on his face that said he was ready to devour me in any way possible. The other vampire joined him and stood side by side.

"The things we are going to do to you." Vampire 1

He licked his lips like the other one did, eyes full of hunger and lust. I dragged myself backwards in hopes to get to Ed to wake him up but the vampire stomped on my ankle to prevent me from moving and I screamed at the top of my lungs at the crunch of my now broken ankle.

Tears rolling down my face at how defenseless I was right now to these vampires not that I was much use before my ankle was crushed under the force of a vampire.

The two cackled at my misery in pain until out of nowhere both vampire disappeared at the speed of light with a quick yelp in surprise and one screamed before the air became eerily quiet.

I tried to get up but only to fall back down again. Winters shouts from the river echoed through the trees and I wanted to shout back but nothing came out.

"Ed is knocked out winter. It was vampires go get help."

"Oh my god! What about you? Are you okay I heard you scream?" Winter

"I'm okay I just have a broken ankle. Just go get help please."

"Okay I'll go fast!" Winter

Just like that she ran off changing to her wolf form and ran to get help back at home.

I turned around to see Ed still passed out face on the dirt just next to the tree. He looked so lifeless but I knew he was alive. Using my weak strength I dragged my butt over Ed and say by him.

I sat with him for a few seconds until I felt someone tap my shoulder. I yelped in surprise and quickly turned around to see a tall handsome man looking down at me with a warm smile, offering me his hand.

"Here I'll help you up."

I stared at his hand but sniffed the air around me for his scent to which was not vampire nor wolf. I couldn't smell either from him. Instead his scent was nothing but calming yet addicting. He's smelled of strawberries and cream he just smelled delicious.

Our eyes met and they flashed this weird yellow and red colour. Something I've never seen before but thought was absolutely beautiful.

I took his hand and he helped me to stand and allowed me to lean against him for more support from my broken ankle. Again I kept staring at his now brown eyes trying to understand what's going on but this time when his eyes changed colour again to the enchanting red and yellow, they happened to stay that way this time and it was like time froze.

He's my mate.

"W-what's your name?"

I grew nervous yet very excited that I finally met my mate. He was breathtakingly handsome, his black hair styled to be brushed off his exposed forehead, his pink plump lips I just wanted to devour all to myself.

His nostrils flared, probably taking in my scent and he closed his eyes for a moment making me slightly confused before he opens his eyes again and smiles at me.

"My names Jin."
