2: Regrets and FOMO

A note at the front door of the toilets

Hi Random Stranger,

Do you have regrets about love? Are you missing out on something?

I want to know if I'm (not) the only one...

Let me know if you like, I'd appreciate it: My mail: 3rosToB3@xxx

Very personal question, 3ros. But you're lucky I feel like sharing and have some time now.

I regret that I had sex too early. I felt like I had to because everyone around me had done it too. Dont get me wrong, it was consensual. But in retrospective I'd loved for someone to tell me:

Take your time. There is no pressure. Don't care about what people around you think or say to you. You are the one that counts.

If you are in a similar situation or know someone that is, please let them know.

Btw I think you'll be famous soon. Every one passing to the toilets wants to know who you are...

Hi there, 3ros,

Here we go again. Are you stalking me because that's the second note in one week. Well, as a part-time philosopher I can't resist these questions. So my view on it:

What's regret? I think deep down it is shame and the incapability to forgive oneself. Don't get me wrong. There are things you should definitely have regrets about if you have done someting wrong. But more often than not you have to let go of such feelings and forgive yourself ... for not being brave enough or having done a mistake. It's way more important to have learned from it.

I have learned not to beat myself up over a relationship that went downhill. I thought I was in love and he couldn't or didn't want to return the feelings. We still tried dating and he didn't treat me correctly. Still, I thought I loved him instead of letting go and seeing it as it was. It's over now; thankfully, but it left marks. And it gets better when I tell myself I forgive me.

You know, that invitatin for the philosopher's club still stands. Se you next Wednesday?

Yours,
A philosopher

Dear 3rosToB3,

Can you read thoughts? I've spent the past minutes crying on the toilet because I don't know what to do. Should I go to this party or skip out?

I don't like the people that go and I don't drink alcohol. Im probably going to be completely out of place. But my crush is going and I don't want to be that girl that is no fun.

I know it's dumb. I should do what I feel comfortable with. But I want you to know you're not alone. I'm also afraid of missing out. Even though alcohol really is not as important as people my age make it out to be.

Good luck!

Hi bro,

Chill. Worries really don't help. You do what you do. If you want to do more, do more. It's your life. Change it so you feel at ease.

Yolo, you know?

Cheers.

Hey,

Does anyone answer to your questions? I'm curious. Are you going to reveal yourself at any point? I think that'd be great.

Let me know, I'm from the student newspaper and can give you more coverage.

Best,
Stefan

Hello there,

Are you a student? It's class time and my students take ages to come back to class after break because they are hold up at the toilet answering your question or discussing who you could be.

Please refer from using the toilet for your notes and choose a different spot.

Thank you.

Best regards,
A concerned teacher

PS: I might forward your suggestions to our philosophy department. They might take these questions to class.

I took your note.
