First anniversary

It was their first anniversary and they both looked like they weren't aware of that. They lead a robotic life. Behaving like strangers inside the four wall and behaving like a perfect couple out that four wall was annoying both of them.

Having a normal dinner dev entered inside his room, he looked at sonakshi who was tiredly lying on the bed. "A year back if this day didn't exist she wouldn't have been in this bed" dev said to himself and laid down on the cot.

Around 12am he looked at her and she could also sense him looking at her. Sonakshi pretended to sleep and dev casually turned around and laid flat on his stomach. Sonakshi had a small drop of tear from her eyes. Images of dev checking her cabin when she rested inside her cabin flickered in her mind. Somewhere she felt like he was silently caring her. Each time she came early from the office even he used to come early to home and check the reason behind her early return. Sometimes he also was able to identify whether she was in her monthly periods and ought chocolates and stocked in the fridge. These kinds of small concern from her husband made sonakshi fall in love with dev. Since her childhood she graved for love and someone to check whether she was safe or not. when dev showed some small piece of concern for sonakshi he completely won her heart.  

"Maybe I didn't need you but I wanted you and sometimes that wanting makes me feel like  needing you." sonakshi whispered softly to herself, she wished dev could hear her but he was in a deep sleep after successfully finishing two surgery previous day.  "Dev you never proposed me but I'm your wife and you never confessed me I know you love me." sonakshi confidently said straight on his face after making sure he was in deep sleep. She softly held his hands and remembered the day he was tired but still didn't sleep just to take care of her sickness. Sonakshi was sure enough to understand that a person like dev would sacrifice his sleep only when he really has a concern on them. Sonakshi became unaware of sleep over powering her, while she was in deep thoughts thinking how to confess her feelings to dev?.

When dev woke up from his deep sleep he saw sonakshi dressed up in a beautiful red saree. Looking at her in a saree after a long time he blindly stared at her. She looked a doll for him. He did not tell her anything and without delaying further by stareing at his wife, dev went inside the washroom to get ready for work.

Before he would fresh up and come Sonakshi already left from the room and when he walked down to the dinning area it looked like Sonakshi went early to hospital. "Happy first anniversary bhai" riya wished dev with a beautiful greeting card. "Thanks" dev replied her with a small smile.  "Instead of thanking me think about giving me a nephew or niece" riya said with lots of excitement. "Ok ok. Did sonakshi go early to hospital?" Dev questioned riya. "Haan. I wished bhabhi and she just gave a smile and went bhai. Did not tell anything." Riya replied her brother and  served him the breakfast prepared by sonakshi.

After having the breakfast dev left to hospital. Dev was thinking about whether he should wish sonakshi or not. Somewhere he felt there wasn't a need to celebrate their first wedding anniversary as they weren't definetly like a normal couple.

Dev entered inside his cabin and before attending the patience he looked at the small tiny greeting card which was given by his sister in his pocket. With great excitement he opened the card.

She is someone,
who will never share
her pain with him.

She is someone,
who will write pages about him
but will never show it to him.

hose words from riya made him think like she was clearly observing him and her. Dev had no clue on how he should react to those words from his sister because it was written in that card by his sister and not printed in the card itself. Keeping away his thoughts he moved to attend the patience.

Sonakshi cancelled all the appointments for the day and kept on observing the card given by riya.

He is someone,
who repeats her voice in his mind
but never call her.

He is someone,
who will miss her and she will be
unaware of him mising her.

In each and every line written by riya Sonakshi felt like she praised her brother. It's really true that he won't call her but is true that he will be repeating her voice in his mind? Will be even miss her? Sonakshi wondered the whole to disturb her more further kuhu entered inside her cabin. "Heard it's your first anniversary." Kuhu said and sonakshi just nodded her head. "Kuhu I'm taking a off today as I'm going to meet my cousin." Sonakshi told kuhu and she just stared at her. "I thought you will take off and be with dev." Kuhu said teasing her, sonakshi just left from the cabin taking her bag.

Sonakshi quickly dailed a person while starting her car from the hospital. "Jatin I want to meet you right away." She said as soon as the person from other side picked up the call. "Come to that restaurant near my office" he replied her and she started the drive. Before Sonakshi can reach the restaurant jatin was already present there. "You know other than you I have no one to share my problems" sonakshi said emotionally looking at him. "Happy anniversary. You never thought of calling me to your wedding also know?" Jatin asked sonakshi and made her sit opposite to him. "Because I never wanted you to call for things which will fail. I thought this marriage won't last long." Sonakshi spoke in a soft voice.

"I hope now you feel like this marriage is your life?" Jatin questioned her.

"I want it to last forever. You know right from my childhood I always wanted someone to care for me. Jatin each night I sleep I would think what if I don't wake up tomorrow, then who will bury me. I always wanted atleast one person as a relative who would cry if I die. You know what I always had a pleasure after anurag leaving me thinking who will perform my last rituals." Before Sonakshi could complete her words she had tears in her eyes. " it hurts to be alone jatin. It is really painful to not have parents. I grew up in an orphanage home right, when I was there I thought I would have a prince charming to care for me. If I ever smiled in that orphanage that would be only because I thought about my perfect man. Now I feel like I found him but I don't know how to say all that to him" sonakshi became fragile after telling everything to jatin.

Sonakshi's parents were running a top business and one day after celebrating her birthday when they left for a business trip their personal flight got clashed. Sonakshi was just one year old when her parents died. Sonakshi's father had a younger sister and she promised to take care of sonakshi but unfortunately she just transferred the property on her name as guardian. Later left that one year old baby in the orphanage.

"Sona I still hate my mom for being so cruel with you. I feel like only if she has showered you with some love you would have" before jatin can continue anything further Sonakshi stopped him. "It's past don't feel guilty about that and order one chocolate shake" sonakshi said to just make the heavy environment little lite.

Jatin placed the order as per her wish and they both continued to talk. Sonakshi explained all her feelings for dev. Jatin felt happy to hear that his sister was finally getting to settle in her life. Only jatin knew how much sonakshi had showered from her childhood.

"Why don't you confess your feelings to him today?" Jatin asked sonakshi. "That's what I'm thinking too." Sonakshi replied him and meanwhile her chocolate shake arrived. Sonakshi took a sip and had smile on her lips enjoying the taste.

"I'm planning to arrange a dinner for us both and tell everything running In my mind but jatin I also feel like he loves someone else" sonakshi said with a disappointment.
"Dumbo if it is he would asked you for divorce but you only kmow said he even knows your period time and silently pampers you " jatin tried to give her some confidence.

"Then I will go and wish him happy anniversary and confess my feelings." Sonakshi said with lots of happiness in her eyes.

"You still didn't wish him?" Jatin questioned her.

"Jatin we still didn't wish each other for our birthday's itself, so wait and I'm going home" sonakshi spoke casually and rushed back to home.

As soon as Sonakshi  reached home she started to clean the living room and make proper arrangement with scented candles on the table. Sonakshi was confused what to prepare but all she knew to cook was dhal,chapathi, carrot halwa and panner fry. She decided to cook what she knows more than thinking what dev likes. Sonakshi prayed that dev should like what she cooks for him.

Dev got home from hospital to just find sonakshi in their living room. She was wearing a pink long kurti which almost touched the wooden floors. "Come in dev" she welcomed him with a bright smile on her face. Sonakshi was so overwhelmed to look dev coming early to home.

Dev looked around the living room and found it really colourful. The curtains were changed and some flower lots were placed.

"What's going on I mean what special today" he asked making sonakshi feel sad.  Dev behaved as if he wasn't aware about their first wedding anniversary. "It's our first anniversary today" she replied him.
Did riya only wish me and didn't wish her brother? Did kuhu only asked me and didn't ask dev about our wedding anniversary? Or is he pretending that he doesn't remember what day it is? Sonakshi had these set of questions running inside her mind.
"Oh" dev said without an emotions.

Sonakshi gave a smile and moved near dinning table. Sonakshi requested him to look at romantically arranged dinning table. "Do you like it" she asked eagerly. "Like it" he said moving  inside the bathroom to fresh up. Sonakshi really wanted to just hear atleast a happy anniversary from dev.

Sonakshi was waiting for him to open the door. When he came out of the room after 20mins she saw her reflection in his eyes. His hair was going in four direction which seriously needed to be combed. He came casually and took seat opposite to her in his dinning table.

"Yummy food" dev spoke in a formal tone and started to eat. "I'm glad you liked it" she stated. Sonakshi just admired the way he was enjoying her food.

As the meal was delicious dev felt like after a long time he had a satisfied dinner. Meanwhile his sister riya entered home after finishing her internship. When riya saw all the romantic candle light table set up, she walked straight inside her room.

"Should we ask her to join us?" Dev asked sonakshi casually.

"Here"  sonakshi  asked astonished.

"Ofcouse here, even she needs to eat her dinner right" dev responded making sona just nod her head.

"I'm really hungry bhabhi. I thought we would go out and eat and that's why I wished you both personally for a treat." Riya said giggling. Sonakshi stared at dev and he looked at the food in the plate. He wabted ti behave as if he wasn't aeate of their anniversary but his sister exposed him to Sonakshi. Three of them had their dinner in pin drop silence.

Sona moved inside their after cleaning all the mess in the kitchen. She shut the door behind, making dev look at her in shock. Her eyes look deep into his with lots of love hidden inside for him.

As she stripped the long pink kurthi. She stood in front of him with revealing clothes. A transparent bodysuit which started right below her breast and ended above her legs.

He completely got lost in her beauty. He wasn't able to take his eyes out from her.

Dev picked up her long pink kurthi which was lying on the floor and have it to sona. "I'm not interested.... I mean... I still need time" he casually said making sonakshi feel embarrassed. "You don't know how much courage it took for me stand so vulnerable in front of you " she replied snatching her dress from his hands and walking out of his room.
"Why she have to do all this today?" He questioned him. Dev never expected something like that from Sonakshi.

Sonakshi felt as if that room was never her's nor dev. Even when she enters his room she may not enter his heart. She thought sitting in the couch at the living room. Sonakshi was also not aware what made her so bold. There was a mental pleasure running in her head too. Each time dev's mom ask her about a child sonakshi would hit her head on a wall.

From the way dev looked at her few minutes back sonakshi understood he never loved her and all the concern he showed towards her was plain sympathy. "Sonakshi I'm sorry" dev said to sonakshi and sat near her in the couch after checking whether riya has locked her room. "It's okay dev. I understood that you can never satisfy your wife. I understood that...." before she could say anything further he captured her lips In his. Sonakshi struggled a little and broke from the kiss. "Do you think I'm behind you for this kind of pleasure?" She raised her voice. "Listen that's what I felt like when you entered inside my room and also now when you said....." Before dev could say anything sonakshi stopped him. "Shut up. Thanks for atleast treating me as a human." Sonakshi said with tears and decided to move away from dev. "Dev for few minutes I need to speak with you. Will you listen to me?" Sonakshi questioned and he nodded his head.
"Dev I'm living here as a dead person in that room. You know what I felt really bad when you pretended as if you don't even remember what day is today. I understood you don't feel like valuing this marriage. Am I your second wife dev? Did you really marry someone and after losing interest on her marry me?" Sonakshi kept on throwing various questions she had on her mind. "Shut up sonakshi your crossing your limits" dev spoke really soft just because his sister was resting in another room. "Your first wife is mishti after losing interest on her you married me and I know this is true" the moment he heard that from
Sonakshi his eyes turned red In anger. Sonakshi received a tight slap from dev and the sound made riya also to open the looked room. "Hit me, but you can't change the truth" sonakshi yelled and riya just looked at both of them clueless. "Sonakshi there is a limit for everything" dev said to sonakshi. "Yes dev but you crossed it first. Just do me one favour divorce me. Please it's my request I can't survive like this." She feel on the floor breaking down in tears. Sonakshi just wished to hear I didn't marry anyone from dev but he never said that. Even when she asked him am I your second wife? Dev did not angry only when sonakshi asked did you lose interest on her and then married me? Dev got furious. The moment Sonakshi said mishti, that word made him scared when he heard that from her mouth. Those few expressions from dev made sonakshi confrim that he never loved her and she wished to not bother him. "Sonakshi" dev sat next to her tried to convince her. "Divorce me" she said. "I can't" dev replied making sonakshi stunned.

"Happy anniversary dev. It's the first and last sentence your hearing from me" sonakshi said and stood up.  Moving straight to the kitchen she took the sharp vegetable cutter. "Don't think I'm threading you." Sonakshi placed the knife near her wrist. "Don't behave like a mad" dev yelled at her. "Stop it. Did you think I will fall on your leg and beg you. Be happy I'm leaving you so that you get a chance to run behind your secret wife" Sonakshi yelled and moved the knife near her finger. She pierced her small finger. Looking at the blood drop from her hand dev got scared. "Did you think I'm scared to die? No dev I'm scared to live with you compared to that I would fearlessly die" she said making riya run next to sonakshi. "I will divorce you after my sister's marriage" dev told to sonakshi and pulled the knife from her. "Why? Now itself divorce me" she pleaded. "If I divorce you now people will think to marry my sister as we aren't in good terms. Understand sonakshi I don't want our problems to affect riya. I want to get my sister settled." Dev replied her and dressed her small wound. "Okay. Before six months divorce me. One more thing you gave me best anniversary gift" the moment sonakshi  spoke about the best anniversary gift dev felt hurt and controlled his tears. Sonakshi never expected something like this would happen. "Happy anniversary sonakshi" he wished her and she just smiled. "I hope this is the last time I'm heading it from you" Sonakshi said and walked inside the room leaving a confused riya behind.
Riya really wanted to know what happened between dev and sonakshi but looking at both of being so emotional she just went inside her room.

Sonakshi took her side of bed and closed her eyes. Before dev could enter onside the bed she was already in deep sleep.

Dev laid beside Sonakshi and softly said "Yes, you are my second wife."

A random paper flew in the air.

To Leave me and be with someone
Who gives you all the right
reasons to stay with them.
Will you leave me?
