Chapter 6. The Company's Loss
New's pov:
The design of mine had finally been fully completed. And now, it was the time for the production and materials. I'd worked for many companies before. But damn, had I ever seen my designs being made that beautifully! It was just perfect! Just how I imagined.
I'd never seen a bow look this pretty on a dress. The dress was shimmery pink with white and light blue on the corners. Just so simple, yet so gorgeous.
I was watching the dress being made in the factory with so many robots, machines and people. And just to ruin my mood, the HR came to me, shouting my name. "New!"
"Yes?"
"The boss is looking for you," He said to me, serious as ever.
"What does he want now?" I whispered to myself in annoyance and walked out of the factory place, going to the elevator to Tay's office.
I knocked on the door, "Tay, can I come in?"
"Yes, come in." Tay said, his voice stern and different. The only other time when I heard his voice this serious was when he was stressed. There's definitely something wrong.
I opened the door and saw him standing looking at something in his laptop in front. He saw me and signalled me to sit on the chair. "Have you seen the dress?" He asked.
"I have. Why did you call me here?" I replied and asked back.
Tay suddenly turned the laptop around so it faced me. There was a graph on the screen showing the statistics of the company in the past few months. "You see that? When did you join our company?" He asked.
"About 45 days ago," I replied.
"So around a month and a half ago, right? Now, look at the graph."
"Don't beat around the bush. What are you trying to say, Tay?"
"Look at the graph! My company has been in damage since you joined!" He pointed at the line that dropped directly from almost 100 in January to 60 in February to now 45 in March. Showing that their stocks has decreased almost 55% in a month and a half.
I stared at the graph for a few moments, trying to process, took a deep breath and replied, trying to stay calm, "So you're saying I am the reason your company hasn't been gaining much profit lately?"
"Hell yeah, what else do you think I meant by that?" Tay asked, sarcastically, his voice getting louder, resulting in scaring me a little bit.
This time, he was really testing my patience. "You think it's my fault when I was not able to produce even one design in the whole time I joined?" I replied calmly, although I could hear my blood boiling with every word he was uttering.
"Exactly! The customers want new designs and you haven't been able to produce a single design even in a whole month and a half!" He said, getting me more angry and furious.
Clearing my voice, I tried my best to hold myself together and not start fighting. I knew I had options but I was too drenched to loose another client right then due to a silly argument. "And it's my fault when you were the one rejecting all my designs just to keep your ego?"
He knew I had a point when he silenced up for a second there and turned the laptop back around.
"Look, I am too tired to fight with you right now. There's no point in you blaming me for literally nothing for the second time now. Just tell me directly what you want or I am leaving!" I continued, crossed my arms, took my bag and started to leave.
"Wait, you can't leave!... Help me with how to get this better." He tried to stop me.
"Yes, I can! You're not my boss, you're my client!..." I stopped for a second and rolled my eyes, knowing I had no other choice but to help him. "Sure..." I replied.
I came closer, put my bag back on the desk and put my hand over his hand on the mouse near the laptop, "What do you want my help with?"
"What should I do to get the company running like before, then?" He asked.
"I'd say you should invest more in advertisements for the company," I advised.
"How?"
"Have you considered hiring famous models or having famous celebrities buy your dresses? That could bring you a lot of profit."
"How is that gonna help? Our dresses are mostly not regular wears!"
"Hear me out first! Dresses don't have to be a casual wear for them to go viral. In fact, casual wears are sometimes too simple nowadays. You can do collaborations with other brands as well."
"Hmm... but the collaborations sounds risky! What if they don't give us credit?"
"That won't happen! In order to run a business, you need to take risks."
He shook his head. "That is too risky for my taste. The company is already in much loss."
I removed my hand off of the mouse and stood up properly. "Tay, you need to take risks in order to get this going!"
"But, I can't! If it goes wrong, there's gonna be a lot of problems."
"You told me to help you, right? And here I am helping you but you aren't even listening to me!"
"I told you to give advice. It doesn't mean I don't have the choice to choose to follow the advice or not!"
"What's the point if you're not even gonna follow what I said?" I shouted on his face sarcastically. I was done and tired so I just took my bag and left. He was being too much for me to handle. I didn't have the strength to bear with that at the time.
"New! New!" He called but I didn't even turn around and left the floor.
I do feel that was my fault as well but I was done. I don't know what was going on in his mind but I've noticed lately, we got into a lot of arguments. In fact, his mind had been very stiff lately with everyone.
He was getting me worried sometimes cause he was never like this before. He was very cheerful and happy. We've had arguments before but in a fun way. It had never been this serious.
To Be Continued.....
A/n: What do you think about this scene? Does it make sense for Tay to suddenly blame things over New because he's stressed?
