chapter nineteen
Brandon enjoyed his birthday, Danny had got him three new hoodies, a very round plushie duck which he was in love with and the cutest photo of the two together in a driftwood frame that Brandon had a sneaking suspicion that he had made himself. He sat with Danny and his duck in his arms and Lily beside him watching a film about a forgetful fish looking for her family. Brandon wasn't sure why, but he was enjoying it anyway.
Danny hadn't spoken to him much, but he and Lily had woken him up singing happy birthday, which he had appreciated. "Babe?" He murmured, Danny looked up at him.
"Hmm?"
"Thank you." Brandon had already thanked his boyfriend for his gifts, but he felt like he had to say it again. His parents had just given him money and lily had given him a gift box of all his favourite sweets, honeydukes and muggle, but what Danny had gotten for him beat them all.
"You're welcome." Danny replied. Brandon kissed the top of his head, pulling him into his lap. "Bran!" He complained, not particularly happy about being manhandled.
"I love you." Brandon replied simply.
"If you two start making out I'm outta here." She told them.
"Lils." Brandon complained at her.
"I mean you can if you want, it's your birthday, but I just don't want to sit here awkwardly." She told him simply.
"Oh shut up." Brandon pulled a face at her.
"I'm just saying." She shot back.
"Yeah yeah." He rolled his eyes at her.
"Where did the octopus come from?" Danny asked, he had a habit of zoning out and missing important information, which often led him to be surprised by things, such as the introduction of a new character in the film.
"Its Dory's new friend darling." Lily explained to him. Danny nodded in understanding, moving his head away from where Brandon had begun playing with his hair.
"Thanks Lily." Danny moved again. "Bran!"
"If you cut your hair again I will be so mad." Brandon replied as his boyfriend gave up resistance.
"I'm not going to." Danny sighed. "Although I kinda like it."
Brandon gasped, appalled by the thought. He loved Danny's curls.
"Both suit you hun." Lily told him comfortingly, he smiled at her.
"Thanks Lily, glad that you appreciate me." Danny joked. Brandon took a sharp intake of breath, sounding desperately insulted.
"How dare you!"
"I was joking." Danny rolled his eyes at his boyfriend. "Stop being dramatic."
"Dramatic? Me? Never!" Brandon joked, glancing at Lily to see she was laughing at the two. He smiled back at her, he was so happy and so thankful. He had a beautiful, loving boyfriend and the best friend he could ask for and everything felt right.

Brandon wasn't particularly fond of leaving Danny, but he barely had time to dwell because the Potter home was a bustle of energy and chaos and all things fun. He'd snapchatted Danny twice already, and had some quite amusing snaps of Danny and Phil back.
"Brandon!" Lily's dad, the famous Harry Potter smiled at him from where he was attempting to make lasagne, Albus trying desperately to help him. Lily's super cool mother, Ginny was sat on the island in the middle of the kitchen, reading witch weekly and laughing at her husband.
"Hey Harry, Ginny, Albus, thanks for having me." Brandon greeted them.
Ginny smiled at him and put down her magazine. "You're always welcome here Brandon, happy birthday by the way."
"Thanks Ginny." He smiled at her, before following Lily through the kitchen and up the stairs, into her room. She threw her bag on her bed and jumped on it.
"Well, I'm guessing you miss him already." She grinned at him sneakily.
"Yeah." He nodded. "But I'm ready for whatever you have planned today."
"Well, dads making lasagne, so I think its movies and board games tonight." She told him, they both had a love for board games and drove their friends nuts with their insistence to play them.
"Sounds good." Brandon grinned.
"My Grandad enchanted a monopoly board so the pictures move and the pieces move by themselves." She added with a grin, her grandfather, Arthur Weasley, had a love of muggle things and was often found modifying random objects.
"Even better." He laughed, flopping down beside her.
"Excited for school?" She asked cheekily, he pulled a face at her.
"Of course not! I have to do work!" He sighed.
"Well duh!" She rolled her eyes. "Have you done the herbology homework?"
"There was homework?" Brandon sat up with a jolt.
"Merlins sake Bran!" Lily laughed. "I'll help you if you like."
"Thanks lils."

Brandon was idly scrolling through snapchat, when he came across a story that Danny had only just posted. It was one am and he was still awake, posting a sleepless selfie. He called him at once.
"Hey Bran." Danny greeted him as he picked up.
"Miss you." Brandon told him at once.
"You saw me like six hours ago." His boyfriend pointed out with a laugh. He was at home, that much was clear, but he wasn't whispering, which meant his parents weren't in.
"Do you not miss me?" Brandon pouted, Danny rolled his eyes.
"Of course I do."
"Well then." Brandon pulled a face at him. Danny laughed. "Are you going to tell me what's wrong now?"
"No." Danny replied simply and then laughed. "Bran seriously, I'm fine."
"Sure."
"So hows Lily's?" Danny asked.
"Are you changing the subject?" Brandon pretended to be hurt.
"Yup."
"Its crazy, but its Lily, so." Brandon shrugged. Danny laughed.
"I would expect nothing else." He replied.
"When do you go back to school?" Brandon asked, he was just trying to keep the conversation going at this point, he didn't want to stop talking at this point.
"Monday, how about you?" Danny asked, he adjusted his position, rearranging the two pillows he was leaning on.
"Sunday, lessons start on Monday." Brandon replied.
"And when do you come home?" Danny asked. Brandon smiled softly.
"July." He replied.
"And you can't come back for Easter?" Danny asked slightly hopeful, although he knew Brandon never came home for Easter.
"Sorry babe." Brandon shook his head. "I love you."
"I love you too." Danny replied. "Good night Bran."
"Night Danny."
With the call finished, Brandon sighed and rolled over into a comfier position, he was sleeping in the Potter's spare room and although he liked having a double bed, it had been a while since he hadn't shared a room anyone and he was finding the silence very odd. He was excited to see his friends again, but he didn't want to go back to school. He loved the bliss of being able to do what he wanted and didn't want to be confined by the rigmorole of school again.
