Chapter 26 - Fire on Fire (Part 2)

Taehyung whimpered, body shuddering when he felt Jungkook's seed released inside of him.

While being intimate, the two didn't realize that Jungkook ended up butt dialing his mother's cell number, and she heard every single word.

.......

It was a new morning and a perfect day to fuck up somebody's life. That's precisely how Jungkook felt as he power-walked through the building, resignation letter in his hand, multiple copies of Taehyung's social media, and the comments under his pictures.

As he stormed through the hallway, the secretary went to greet him, but she paused, hand in the air mid-wave as Jungkook walked past her.

"Um...Mr. Jeon, your father is--" The middle-aged woman starts running behind him, hoping to catch him before he burst into his father's office. But Jungkook continued, determined to give his father and mother a piece of his mind.

Last night, after he and Taehyung made love, Jungkook noticed his phone was on an active call. Without telling Taehyung, he snuck into the bathroom and spoke on the phone until his mother hung up. The fact that she listened to their conversation and their conjugation was enough for Jungkook to completely cut her out of his life. He was done trying to be the good son.

The Golden Maknae everyone called him. Jungkook earned the nickname because he was naturally talented in multiple categories. Regardless if it was a sport, music, art, or being a leader, he made his parents proud. For many years, he watched his father struggle to carry their small family on his shoulders. They weren't poor, but they also weren't filthy rich. His father was an honest man who always tried his hardest to make people feel welcomed and loved. Jungkook adored his father and strived to be a man just like him.

Then you had his mother. Mrs. Jeon was someone that always dreamed of a more satisfactory life. She wanted diamonds, the glitz and glamor that you would see in k-dramas. The fancy hairstyles, the expensive clothes, the latest fashions. It was a stark contrast between his parents, and he hated it, but his father told him that his mother was not always like that.

She used to be humble, loving the simple things in life, and was always happy with a small gift until they entered the business world. As soon as his father earned the CEO's title, his mother changed, not for the better.

Jungkook's dark eyes stared at the door with his father's name on it.

Jeon Chul-Soon.

The secretary was still running behind him, calling out to Jungkook and trying to stop him, but she was too late as the ravenette pushed the doors open and walked inside. Chul-Soon was sitting behind his desk, eyes focused on paperwork when his son burst inside.

The balding man looked up, tan face kind as he regarded his son.

"Hello, Kookie; you do know you are off today, right?" Chul-Soon smiled and went to stand, but Jungkook shook his head, holding up his hand to show his father could remain seated.

"I came here to give you this and to show you these. Mom eavesdropped on Taehyung and me last night, and Tae also has suspicions that mom was also the reason he was being harassed." The younger man deadpanned, handed his father the resignation letter, and placed the documents on his desk.

Chul-Soon rubbed at his chin.

"These are some bold accusations, my son but knowing your mother, I understand. What is this?" The older Jeon asked and pointed to the folder on his desk. Jungkook huffed, reaching forward and flipped the folder open.

"These are the comments Tae was getting. I thought they were just people being haters or assholes, but this goes deeper than that."

The older man sighed and reached forward, pulling sheets of paper down to lay flat. His eyes skimmed the contents before his brows raised in complete shock. Jungkook watched as his father read through the words, his expressions changing with each sheet of paper.

A few more minutes passed, and Chul-Soon locked eyes with his son.

"Is this everything?" He asked, and Jungkook nodded.

"Well, for starters, I hate that Taehyung had to go through something like this. But the question, why do you believe your Young-Hee is involved?"

"Because since finding out Tae and I are back together and are expecting, she's been arrogant, childish, and rude. She's even trying to push for Yoo-Ra and me to get back together again. I forgave her once after the bullshit; then, she continued to bug me and try to interfere with my relationship even after I told her no."

"Your mother or Yoo-Ra?"

"Both. Mom needs to be handled. That's why I'm leaving this company. I'll find somewhere else to work because I refused to allow these people to keep interfering with my life. I love mom and always will, but she will not be allowed to see the baby or me if she continues this behavior. I draw the line at having toxic people in my child's life, no matter who you are." The ravenette's hands tightened into fists, his nails digging into his palm as he thought about the way his mother has mistreated Taehyung from the moment she met him.

There was absolutely no reason for the woman to be as cold and hateful to the kind-hearted male, and Jungkook knew Taehyung never did anything to receive such hate. But as he said before, the woman was and always will be money hungry, so she saw Taehyung as an obstacle in her way of gaining the fortune she thinks she deserves.

Chul-Soon nodded, pressing his lips together in a firm line. He understood what Jungkook was saying, and he supported him, but there was something else. The CEO knew his wife better than anybody, and he knew the woman would be up to her tricks.

The older man let out a sigh and motioned for his son to sit in the chair opposite him. Jungkook sat, fingers tapping nervously against his leg.

"Okay, well, start from the beginning."

.......

Taehyung hummed as he rubbed at his pregnant belly.

Jungkook left that morning before he woke up, the younger man leaving behind breakfast, a letter with...x-rated promises for later, and a single purple orchid. The thought was cute, and Taehyung couldn't help the rosy tint that covered his cheeks at the idea of his boyfriend being so kind and thoughtful.

Happily chewing on some rice, Taehyung had a pillow tucked under his belly, giving him additional support as he watched TikTok on his phone. Yeontan was beside the bed looking upward, dark eyes sparkling and licking his lips. Taehyung ignored the small dog, not wanting to share his food.

"I wonder what Kookie is doing? He told me today was his day off." The blonde mumbled, doe eyes on the phone. Getting ready to roll over and take some pressure off of his hip, Taehyung paused mid-roll when his phone started to vibrate. The beautiful male raised an eyebrow, not knowing the unknown number at the top of the screen, but he answered anyway and sat on the bed, waiting quietly for the other person to speak.

"Hello? Taehyung? Are you there?"

At the sound of the voice, Taehyung rolled his eyes and let out a loud sigh. He did not have the patience to deal with this bitch today.

"Um...hi, Mrs. Jeon. How did you get my number?" The blonde was straight to the point. He didn't feel like dealing with her shit. The woman hummed, and you could practically hear the forced smile over the speaker.

"I wanted to know if you would like to come to the company and have lunch with me, Chul-Soon, and Jungkookie. We need to get used to being a family, after all." Honey was dripping from her words, and Taehyung wasn't falling for it.

"Well, excuse my rudeness, but why would you go of your way to invite me to lunch? You don't like me, I don't like you considering our past, and I'm sure it would just feel awkward." Taehyung made sure his voice was just as sickeningly sweet; if Mrs. Jeon could see him, Taehyung would give her a forced smile and bat his lashes at her, knowing it would piss her off.

"Well, if you and Jungkook will be marrying soon, I need to get to know my future in-law."

The younger man inhaled sharply. He'd forgotten that Jungkook told this devil woman they were engaged. Even though they weren't engaged in reality, his mother has done everything she possibly could to try and figure out if there would be a wedding. She's even gone as far as to try and contact the hyungs, but luckily, they either ignored her or kindly told her off.

"You know me. I've been your son's best friend for almost ten years, and you never cared before." Taehyung snapped. He could hear the woman scoff, her sweet and caring charade breaking into pieces.

"Look, I'm trying to make an effort for my son and future grandchild. Now, if you won't make an effort, then well, it's a shame I would have to tell Jungkook about your behavior."

'Is she threatening me?' Taehyung thought, narrowing his eyes.

"About what? I haven't done anything for Kookie to be suspicious about. Unlike some people, I know how to keep a man interested."

Taehyung felt like he's won this battle, but as soon as Young-Hee started talking again, Taehyung's face paled, and his eyes grew wide.

.....

After the call, Taehyung stared down at his phone, fingers digging into the case surrounding it. His happy mood had disappeared, leaving a dark, empty whole sitting in the middle of his chest. Tears dripped off of his lashes, creating beautiful lines on his rosy cheeks.

There was no way she would have known that secret. It happened years ago, and the only people that he knew were his mother and Youhna. It was something he'd been hiding from Jungkook for years.

Sniffling, Taehyung wiped his tears away, a scoff slipping past his lips. He was a hypocrite. All this time, he's been accusing and berating Jungkook about keeping secrets and telling lies when he had one of the biggest secrets in their relationship.

Watery brown eyes turned to Yeontan, the small dog nudging his master's foot with his muzzle and begging for affection. Taehyung bent over and gently scooped Yeontan in his arms, pressing gentle kisses against the black fur.

"I guess I'll get dressed, Tannie."

......

Arriving at the destination, Taehyung ran a hand through his golden hair. He knew Young-Hee (Mrs. Jeon) would be waiting for him at the front, so he made sure he was extra beautiful and well dressed. The hyungs didn't know of this meeting and the exchange between the Taekook couple and Mrs. Jeon. All they knew was that Tae and Jungkook were having a lovely day and a peaceful lunch.

Taehyung's nerves were shot, but at least he and Jungkook had the proof they were trying to get. After Mrs. Jeon called him and threatened him, Taehyung recorded the entire conversation and sent it to Jungkook. So, the two being very handsome and naughty devils, forged a plan with Jungkook's father.

They planned to get Mrs. Jeon to confess to any threatening behavior or admitting she knew the people who were sending the threats. Taehyung hoped this plan worked because he couldn't afford any more stress on his already worn-out body.

As he entered the building, the blonde placed his hands on his stomach, lightly tapping his fingers against the white shirt. The baby responded with a hiccup and a blush coated Taehyung's cheeks at the adorable action.

Men and women greeted him, all of them smiling and waving; some congratulated him on his pregnancy while others snuffed him.

"Gee, I wonder whose been whispering in their ear." Taehyung sighed with a roll of the eyes. The latter walked towards the elevator but was stopped by a hand on his lower back. Turning, the pregnant male smiled when Jungkook leaned forward to kiss his cheek.

"Hi, baby," Jungkook murmured before pressing a soft kiss to Taehyung's tinted lips. The older male hummed into the kiss, arms wrapping around Jungkook's shoulders but sadly, they separated, staring intensely into each other's eyes.

The younger male rested one hand against Taehyung's stomach, feeling their child kick softly. Taehyung was a nervous wreck, chewing at his bottom lip and round eyes staring at Jungkook.

"Kookie, I need to tell you something."

Jungkook nodded, eyes only on Taehyung's baby bump.

"I'm all ears."

"That night we had sex on your birthday,"

Jungkook gazed at Taehyung; brows drew together out of confusion.

"What about it?"

The older male visibly gulped, wrapping his hands around Jungkook's bicep.

"Three months later, I...I found out that I was--"

"Oh, Taehyung, I see you finally arrived, and Jungkook found you...I see." The shrill voice of Young-Hee caught their attention, and both men reluctantly greeted the older woman, their mouths forming frowns. Mrs. Jeon noticed the lack of welcoming in both young men, but she brushed it off. Jungkook stepped closer to Taehyung, arm snaking around his waist. The ravenette regarded his mother with steely eyes, jaw clenched, and lips firmly pressed together.

Young-Hee ignored them, checking the time on her smartwatch.

"We have one more guest coming, and then we can head up to meet your father." The older woman smiled, her dark eyes staring at Taehyung. The blonde stared back, not afraid of the imp of a woman. He's put up with her bullshit and conniving ways for many years, and he was not about to allow her to get one over on him and ruin his relationship. Sure, he and Jungkook still had some problems working out, but they could do it in the comfort and privacy of their own home.

"Oh, how thoughtless of me, Jungkook. I hope you don't mind that I invited an old friend to join us."

Jungkook ignored her and turned away, all of his focus was on Taehyung, and he could sense the older male's nervousness. Gently pulling him off to the side, Jungkook rested his thumb on Taehyung's chin and forced the blonde to look him in the eye.

"What has you on edge, baby?" The ravenette whispered. Taehyung pulled his face away, eyes going down to stare at their shoes.

"Have you listened to the recording?"

Jungkook shook his head.

"I listened to some of it. I was going to wait until we were with my father."

Taehyung reached out and gripped Jungkook's cheeks in his hands, his thumbs grazing his cheekbones softly.

"I need to talk to you, Kookie. Like, now. I have to tell you something before you hear it from your mother."

Jungkook found a janitor's closet off to the side of the lobby. Holding the door open for Taehyung, they went inside, making sure to lock the door behind them.

Taehyung let out a loud sigh.

"First of all, I haven't been 100% honest with you, and for that, I'm sorry." The blonde started, hand rubbing his round belly. Jungkook crossed his arms and waited patiently for Taehyung to speak.

"That night, on your eighteenth birthday, when we had sex, we both didn't know I would end up a sub-male."

Jungkook nodded, a soft smile coming to his lips at the memory.

"Well, about two months later, I felt sick. I thought I was coming down with a cold, so I didn't say anything. Then I had to get some blood samples taken before I officially knew I was a sub-male. It was a standard routine. Anyway...w-when...um...," Taehyung rubbed his belly again, feeling his chest tighten and sweat started to form on his face.

Jungkook noticed the change and was instantly by his boyfriend's side, helping the pregnant male sit on the ground. The younger male quietly rubbed at Taehyung's shoulders while the latter tried to calm his breathing. He's kept this secret with him since he was nineteen years old. He'd never thought he would have to bring it up in this way.

He did plan on talking to Jungkook before the baby was born, but of course, the universe had other plans, and here they were. Swallowing the lump in his throat, Taehyung placed his hands against his heated cheeks and trying to fight back the anxiety attack that was trying to rear its ugly head.

"I...found out I was pregnant, Kookie." Taehyung gasped out, hand clutching at his chest.

Everything went quiet.

The only sounds you could hear were Taehyung and Jungkook's breathing. The ravenette was like stone, frozen in place, eyes glazed over. Taehyung was trying not to cry, but his hormones were working against him.

Minutes ticked by before either of them said anything. The only thing that broke Jungkook from his trance was when Taehyung moaned quietly, both hands supporting his stomach.

"What happened to the baby?" Jungkook asked. The older man groaned once again, nostrils flared, and eyes screwed shut. Jungkook watched, eyes searching Taehyung's pained expression, hands itching to grab his phone to call an ambulance.

The pain subsided, and Taehyung wiped at his nose, inhaling deeply.

"I...I lost it. Two weeks after I found out, I lost it. That's what your mom was going to drop on you and your dad--"

"How the fuck does she know?"

"I started bleeding at your house. I told Mrs. Jeon it was nothing, and the doctor told me it was typical for a sub-Male to experience heavy bleeding while the body was changing. I called Youhna, and she met me at our old apartment, but the miscarriage had already started."

Taehyung recalled the moment he was standing at the fridge in the Jeon household, then he had a sharp in his pelvis, and what felt like he urinated in his pants. He was wearing white joggers at that time, and when he went running and tell Jungkook, Mrs. Jeon stopped him, asking him if he was alright. At that moment, the woman had no problem with Taehyung because Taehyung was just her son's best friend.

Taehyung wanted to let Jungkook know he was leaving, but the woman practically pushed him out of the door. The brunette had his jacket wrapped around his waist, and as he sat in the car, in awkward silence, the cramping became more severe, to a point where Taehyung was crying in pain. But Young-Hee ignored him and kept driving, not caring about the younger man in her passenger seat.

When they reached his and Jimin's apartment, Youhna was already there and ripped Taehyung out of the car, gasping loudly at the amount of blood that soaked his clothing. She hurled insults at Young-Hee, attacking the woman verbally and screaming that she should have taken Taehyung to the hospital.

A lone tear dropped from his eye, Taehyung remembering the pain associated with a miscarriage. When it was happening, all he thought about was Jungkook, wishing he had the younger man by his side and telling him everything would have been okay.

"I tried to stop it. I begged Noona to call the ambulance, but there was nothing I could do. Your mom drove me home, and I thought she left, but no...she stayed. She heard me scream, 'I haven't told Kookie yet!' And she knew we slept together, and the baby was yours."

The blonde could still see the coldness on Young-Hee's face, her dark eyes showing no concern, but instead, it was like a childlike curiosity. She stared in awe, like seeing Taehyung in so much turmoil and pain brought her joy. The woman was unstable; Taehyung and his family have been saying that for years.

"What happened after that?" Jungkook whispered, tears forming in his eyes. All he could think about was Taehyung, having to deal with this on his own for so many years, never uttering a word to him until he was forced to.

"I was ashamed that I lost our baby. But your mom decided it was in her best interest to blackmail me. She threatened to tell you and then toyed with me by saying you would hate me, and I was a dumb ass to believe it."

"That's why you kept your distance?"

"Yes," Taehyung sobbed, "I'm a hypocrite. I'm so sorry, Jungkook. I should have told you years ago, but I thought you would want me even less if you found out I lost the baby."

Jungkook wrapped his arms around Taehyung, allowing the older man to cry until he couldn't anymore. He wanted to be angry; he felt betrayed that Taehyung kept something of this importance away from him, but he could see and hear that Taehyung didn't mean any harm. All of these years, he could only imagine the torment Taehyung has placed on himself, telling himself that the miscarriage was his fault.

Whenever Jungkook would discuss children, Taehyung would shut down, shying away from looking at baby items and clothes. Of course, the younger male assumed Taehyung didn't want kids with him, and he started to develop nasty thoughts in his head about how Taehyung hated him or didn't love him anymore. Instead, the older male was dealing with a secret that weighed on him heavily.

Minutes passed, and soon Taehyung's sniffling quieted down; the blonde rested his head against his boyfriend's chest, finger lazily, drawing a circle in the white shirt.

"Well, at least I know why you kept away from me. I just thought you didn't like me anymore." Jungkook tried to joke, but Taehyung stared up at him with sad eyes. Realizing the older wasn't in the mood to play around, Jungkook shifted, so his bottom was flat on the floor and pulled Taehyung into his lap. The older male rested his head against his boyfriend's shoulder, their fingers laced together.

"I'm sorry, Kookie," Taehyung murmured. Jungkook pressed a tender kiss against Taehyung's blonde hair and sighed.

"I feel like I should be apologizing to you. All these years and my mom caused so many problems. But I was too stupid to see it."

The blonde pulled back and caught Jungkook's gaze. Taking his fingers, Taehyung caressed Jungkook's cheek, gently grazing over the scar.

"You were just a kid..."

"That doesn't matter, Tae. I called myself loving you and wanted a future with you, but all I've been is a giant dumbass."

The two sat in silence for a few seconds before a lightbulb went off in Jungkook's mind. A smirk came to his face, and he gazed down at Taehyung, watching the almond eyes widen as he stared into them.

"I have a plan, babe." The ravenette whispered and told the blonde. Taehyung's lips parted, mouth hanging, lips parting as he listened.

.....

"Mrs. Jeon, I distinctly remember that I was told I would be arrested if I ever came near Kookie again and Taehyung. I'm determined to help you and all, but I don't like jail, and daddy isn't pleased with you." Yoo-Ra pouted as she stood next to the shorter woman. She made sure she showed up clad in a tight, red dress with matching red bottoms.

Mrs. Jeon rolled her eyes, not at all in the mood to deal with the annoying girl. Just as Yoo-Ra was about to open her mouth again, Taehyung came storming around the corner, face puffy and tears dripping from his lashes. He paused when he saw Yoo-Ra standing in the lobby, looking like the cheap hooker that she was.

The women stared in surprise, not at all expecting Taehyung to be on the verge of tears. He was standing with his arms crossed, face tinted red, and a pink rim around his dark eyes.

"Um, Taehyung, are you--" Yoo-Ra stepped forward, hand reaching out to the younger man, but Taehyung scoffed, rolling his eyes and bouncing in place.

"YOU are the last person that needs to be worried about me." He sassed. The older woman raised her brows in shock but quieted down and went back to standing next to Mrs. Jeon. The three waited in silence, and then the door slammed open, and out came Jungkook, face dark and eyes deadly. He snatched around the corner and stood next to Taehyung, the two men refusing to look at each other.

Mrs. Jeon and Yoo-Ra exchanged a gaze and then turned back to the couple, both at a loss for words. Young-Hee's eyes shifted between the two before she tapped her fingers together, a cruel smile splaying over her wrinkly lips.

'Seems like someone is having trouble in paradise. This will be a lot easier than I expected.'
