Chapter 12 -Why Are We Here?
Taehyung watched as Jungkook walked down the street, back muscles flexing beautifully under the shirt, ebony hair shining, and earrings bouncing with every step he took. Without thinking, he placed a hand against his stomach, feeling butterflies stir.
....... ( The Next Day)
Yeontan followed his owner around, barking and snapping at his ankles. Taehyung paced back and forth, curls hanging in his face and chewing at his nails.
He was nervous.
There was no reason for him to be nervous. Jungkook was coming over to talk about the baby. Yes. Not like this was a date, and no suggestions were leading up to it being a date.
The younger man, who had the muscles of a Greek God, skin looked as if it was carved from marble and lips that looked like the petals of a rose--
"What the fuck?" Taehyung cursed, smacking himself.
Hearing a small growl, Taehyung stared down at Yeontan.
"Leave me alone, Tannie. I dress this pretty every day."
The small dog huffed and ran into the living room. Taehyung stuck his lips out in a pout and, with one last glance in the mirror, decided he was satisfied with his appearance and went into the kitchen. He ordered lamb skewers and many other side dishes, and when he says ordered, he begged for Jin and Myung-Soo to help him cook.
Taehyung was many things, he was beautiful, talented, and unique, but one of the talents he lacked was cooking. At first, he placed the blame on his surname because Namjoon was shit at cooking as well, but that didn't explain why the other Kims, such as Jin and Myung-Soo, could cook so well, and their food was edible. Taehyung sighed and dusted imaginary dirt off his outfit and searched around to make sure everything was perfect for his and Jungkook's talk.
He had all of the documents and tests to prove he was telling the truth about his pregnancy. Plus, Jungkook knew he would never lie about something like this. As much as Taehyung has wanted children, he would never subject himself to the torture of faking a pregnancy to keep someone around.
Unlike certain people, we won't mention it.
Twiddling his fingers, Taehyung opened his fridge to make sure he had sodas and a few bottles of Soju in case Jungkook wanted something to quench his thirst. This would be the first time they were alone on their terms, and it was wrecking Taehyung's nerves. The ravenette fiddled around to the kitchen. And almost dropped a plate he was drying when his phone vibrated in his back pocket.
"Shit," He gasped and checked his device. His hands were shaking, half-expecting it was Jungkook letting him know he was outside, but he sighed in relief when it was Kyo, the older man checking on him, and then a thought dawned on Taehyung.
He never told Kyo he was pregnant.
"Oh, my God. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck." Taehyung whispered, but he quickly put on a smile when he answered the phone, trying to calm his nerves.
'Tae?'
Hearing his friend's voice was like a calming melody, and Taehyung set aside the dishrag in his hands to take a seat. Wrinkling his nose when Yeontan came bouncing into the kitchen, the pomeranian nipped at one of Taehyung's toes.
"H-How are you?"
There was shuffling over the phone, and Taehyung realized Kyo was probably preparing himself to ask questions. There was a quiver in his voice, and he was sure the older man picked up on it.
More shuffling and a grunt sounded before Kyo came back over the phone.
'You okay? You don't sound well.'
'No, I'm not well. I have a tiny baby Jungkook inside of me.' Taehyung thought, but he swallowed the words and lightly kicked at Yeontan, who jumped up and chomped down on one of his owner's toes. Taehyung grimaced and wiggled his foot, trying to fight off the ball of fluff.
"Yeah, how is everything in Japan?"
'Going well for the most part. We found out that my mom has second-stage lung cancer, and they're starting her on radiation or whatever it was called.' The smile dropped from Taehyung's face, and it was more like another grimace as Kyo continued into the story of the treatment and options. The doctors were weighing said options for his mother's health.
Taehyung listened intently, only speaking up every so often to offer some kind words and to show he was listening.
It seemed there was always cancer lurking somewhere in the world, and there were so many different kinds of it. You never think somebody you know would end up with the horrible disease. It brought back horrific memories of his grandfather that he wished had stayed buried, but at least he could sympathize with the older male.
Kyo sounded tired and worn out, and he needed a friend to vent his frustrations. Taehyung was willing to be there for him and help him through such a hard time.
While listening to Kyo, Taehyung felt a rush of saliva in his mouth. Trying to fight it down, he was able to turn on the speaker before he made a mad dash to the kitchen sink, and he ended up throwing up everything he ate that morning.
'Tae, are you sure you're okay? You aren't sick, are you? Do I need to call Jin or Namjoon?' Kyo's deep voice filled the kitchen, and Taehyung groaned as his stomach continued doing backflips. Rinsing his mouth out with water, he shuffled over and dropped down into the chair at the table, resting his head against the cool wood.
Taehyung figured he would go ahead and get it over with.
"I'm pregnant, Kyo." He stated.
Plain and simple.
No elaborate story to tell.
No fairytale being spun into gold to try and save anyone's heart from breaking. He just needed to get straight to the point. The silence was his answer, and Taehyung assumed the older male had hung up, but when he checked his phone. The call was still connected.
"Kyoshi? Kyo?"
'Is-Is Jungkook, the father?' Sighing at the stutter, Taehyung nodded his head but then realized Kyo couldn't see him.
"Yes, he is."
More silence.
Beating his fingers against the table, Taehyung eyed the time and noticed it was an hour before Jungkook was supposed to arrive, which means he had time to brush his teeth and gargle some mouthwash. A deep sigh sounded over the speaker, and Taehyung wrinkled his forehead.
'Well, Thank God it's with someone you know and not a stranger. Congratulations on the baby, beautiful.'
Taehynung was taken aback.
He knew Kyo was a kind person, but he expected some resistance to the idea of him having a child with his ex. But giving Kyo's nature, the man couldn't hate anything or anyone, so he wasn't surprised. Swallowing the urge to vomit yet again, Taehyung wished he could see Kyo's face to tell what he was feeling.
"I know how it sounds, Kyo. You're allowed to be mad and upset at me. As soon as you left, I practically jumped into Kookie's arms."
'I could, but being mad won't make anything better. I would rather hear about your pregnant adventure than hold a grudge over you loving someone.'
"Yeah, but--"
'We can't help who we fall in love with, Taehyung. I know this all too well.'
Guilt flooded his heart, and before Taehyung could give himself time to try and say sorry, he gazed down at the phone and giggled when he saw Kyo was trying to face time. Connecting, Taehyung held up the camera and gave a wave to his handsome friend. The ravenette nodded towards him, glasses resting on top of his head.
'You're practically glowing. You'll be beautiful with a baby bump, Taehyung. Jungkook is a lucky man.'
Blushing, Taehyung gave a square-shaped smile.
"Thank you, Kyo."
The Japanese-man smiled, the apples of his cheeks turning red. Hearing a knock at the door, Taehyung realized it must have been Jungkook. Telling Kyo bye, Taehyung slid his phone down into his back pocket and rushed to the door. Smoothing out his clothes and fluffing his hair, he opened the door and was greeted with the sight of Jungkook.
Realizing Jungkook was early and Taehyung hadn't brushed his teeth, he quickly avoided the younger man when Jungkook leaned in for a kiss. Covering his mouth, Taehyung stepped back, but the crescent shape of his eyes was a dead giveaway to the bright smile on his beautiful face.
"Um, excuse me for a few minutes, please?" The older started to inch away, but Jungkook caught his arm and stared at him in surprise.
"You okay?"
The curly-haired male sighed, dropping his hand from his mouth, and gave Jungkook a glance over before turning his head away.
"I got sick earlier, and I need to brush my teeth."
Mouth forming an 'O' Jungkook released Taehyung and allowed the older male to run to the bathroom to freshen up. While Taehyung was busy, Jungkook took the time to look around the apartment. Not much has changed since he moved out.
Taehyung had everything almost the same, and that made him feel good. In the movies, whenever there was a big breakup, the two main characters would always make drastic changes to their surroundings in hopes of forgetting their past love and heartbreak.
But seeing almost everything was in the same place from a year ago made him think that maybe Taehyung was hoping for his return. Hoping their love would be rekindled, they would move forward in their relationship like it never ended.
They have distinctive styles on how they decorated, so they compromised, whereas Jungkook went for simple and solid colors, Taehyung was all over the place with different colors and prints. Their apartment had an eccentric theme, but that's what made it their home.
Their home.
A smile played at Jungkook's lips at the thought.
This was no longer his home.
His home was on the other side of Seoul, and he had a studio apartment where he painted and reminisced about the old days. The days when they were teenagers, innocent, and discovering life with wide eyes. The days when he and Taehyung would be glued to the hip. They were each other's first kiss, first love, and first...pretty much first everything.
Since Taehyung was always slightly broader than Jungkook before the younger hit puberty, he assumed he would be the top. But when they finally reached that stage where they were willing to risk it all for love, Taehyung discovered he like being pleasured in more intimate areas than Jungkook did. And when he hit twenty and found he was a sub-male, it made sense.
Jungkook was more than ready to give Taehyung pleasure, kiss every hole, caress every inch of the golden skin, and dominate him in any way he wished.
Jungkook was brought out of his thoughts when Yeontan stood in the center of the living room, staring at him with wide eyes and tail wagging. The dual-haired young men pressed his lips together, calling the small dog over, and Tannie cocked his head to the side, nose twitching as he tried to get his scent. A few more seconds passed, and Yeontan quickly bounded over, tail shaking from side to side as he hopped up on Jungkook's leg, barking in happiness.
"Hi, Tannie. Did you miss daddy?" Jungkook found himself saying as he scooped the Pomeranian up into his arms. The dog barked, licking at his face and nuzzling against his chin, almost as if he was telling Jungkook he was missed. When he and Taehyung first moved into their apartment, they found Yeontan wandering the streets, the poor dog was sickly and infested with fleas, and Taehyung begged for them to take him in.
After many sexual favors and whining, Jungkook gave in and went out one night in the rain and searched for eight hours until he found him.
The way Taehyung's face lit up when he walked inside, soaked to the bone and a shivering puppy in his arms, the older male quickly warmed them both with fluffy towels and hugs.
If Jungkook said he didn't miss it, he would be lying to himself; there was always something about Taehyung that drew him in. He was like a candle. As the flame grew brighter, he warmed the surrounding area and chased away the shadows. But he would be dim just enough to let you know the shadows were still there, watching and waiting for that bright, warm light to go out.
As long as you catered to it and kept it safe, the flame would continue to shine and keep you warm.
"Oh, I see you found Tannie." Taehyung sighed out as he walked back into the living room, patting his pockets nervously.
Setting the Pomeranian on the floor, Jungkook quickly walked up to him, hands in his pockets.
The two stared at each other for a few seconds until their gazes dropped to the floor. A few more minutes of awkward silence and shuffling of feet before Taehyung's stomach growled loudly, making him blush a vibrant red.
Jungkook laughed.
"Are you hungry, or is it the little one?" Taehyung huffed, trying to will away the red from his cheeks.
"Both. Have a seat in the kitchen, and I'll fix you some food. I have lamb skewers."
Doing as told, Jungkook walked over and sat at the table, smiling as he eyed the folder placed on the corner and the pregnancy tests. Trying to peak inside, he quickly removed his hand when Taehyung started to set the table.
"So...do you have any weird cravings or anything?"
It was small talk—something to try and lighten the air. Taehyung laughed, making Jungkook raise one of his brows as he stared at the beautiful man carrying his child.
"I was craving lamb skewers. My mouth is watering just from the smell." He admitted, and Jungkook smiled.
Taehyung gently brushed by him to set down some chopsticks, and Jungkook took advantage of it and pulled Taehyung down into his lap, their faces millimeters apart. Taehyung was swooning at the way Jungkook's hands would curve around his hips, gently rested against the material of his jeans. He let out a deep sigh, resting his hands on Jungkook's shoulders, breathing in the scent of his cologne that was wafting off of the white shirt.
Licking his lips, Taehyung couldn't help but stare down at Jungkook's lips, swallowing the lump in his throat.
"Why are we here, Tae?" Jungkook breathed out, shifting Taehyung in his lap. The latter let out a shaky breath, heart thudding in his ears as his fingers played with hairs at the back of Jungkook's head.
"To...to talk about the...our baby."
The thought of it being their baby brought a smirk to Jungkook's face. Leaning forward, just enough as to where his lips grazed the corner of Taehyung's mouth, Jungkook closed his eyes when he felt the older's breath catch at the gentle movement.
"Our baby. It's our baby, Taehyung." Jungkook whispered.
Taehyung wanted to fight against his urges. He wished he could force Jungkook away, but his body was aching to be touched.
Taehyung wanted Jungkook.
Taehyung needed Jungkook.
Fuck it.
The ravenette pulled back and stared Jungkook in the eyes, not saying anything; he held his gaze, mouth slightly parted. Only when Jungkook went to speak did Taehyung press his lips against his.
