12. A string of Past

Two days went in a jiffy for Viraj, though he was anxious because of staying in Mumbai for a long time but he had realised that he cannot hide and control things for long.

Viraj and Kavya both were sitting in their bed watching a suspense - thriller movie.

"What have you thought of your work? Is your boss not asking about your whereabouts?" Kavya questioned pondering over the thought that because of her Viraj had taken a long off from his work.

"Honestly it's a chaos at work. He is continuously pestering me and asking me to come back. However I have strictly told him that I have some family constraints and because of my personal commitments and priorities I can't resume my work for now." Viraj said without being bothered.

"Viraj but this way situation can get worse. If he is demanding your presence and if you do not resume with your project then it can back fire you. He might cut your salary or terminate your project. All of this is happening because of me, first you came to Mumbai for my parent's rituals and then you had to stay back with me here because of Masi's health." Kavya whispered whose complete focus was now on her husband. She could not believe that the person sitting in front of him was holding his professional turmoil in his heart and without showing any sort of discomfort or stress was happily taking care of her.

"Kavya let it be, I'll manage my work. Let official stuff be at it's place. You are my only family and for each and every individual all that matters is family." Viraj stated trying to soothe his wife's growing concern.

"Enough Viraj, you have done ample of prioritising me over you. It's not only you who he is involved in this relationship, I am invested in our bond equally. I have made my decision we will be leaving for Goa tomorrow and I am sure Masi and Masa Ji will understand. You just book our tickets that will be sufficient for me. I'll pack our bags." Kavya insisted and was about to leave their space when Viraj held her hand and made her look at him.

"Kavya, you are my love and when I say that-- I genuinely mean it. I have said hundred of times and I'll repeat again, I have only you and for me the only person that matters is my wife. I hold no one above you. So don't guilt trap yourself because of my own decisions. Whatever I do is for you and I'll always be there for you even if one day you don't need me."

Viraj mumbled with a deep pain in his heart. He was aware that nobody would understand what he is going through because people will only judge him whether it is after knowing his past or knowing that his hiding a vital truth from his wife. Anyhow he knew he would be misunderstood quickly.

On the other hand kavya felt a deep pull inside her. Unknowingly she felt her eyes getting wet. There was an unknown fear which had taken it's place in her heart. Without uttering any words, she instantaneously snuggled in her husband's arms and and felt like crying in his embrace.

"Shhh--its alright. You are seriously a toddler, like one minute you are yelling, the other you are angry and then instantly you turn into a sobbing mess." Viraj said trying to uplift her mood.

"Kiss me." Kavya mumbled still being in his arms and not looking up in his eyes directly.

"What?" A surprised Viraj uttered.

"If you want to make me happy, or if you want me smiling, or if you want my goofy self back than just kiss my fears away."

Kavya said and within a fraction of second she felt his soft and warm lips brushed with her own feeling an alluring pull in their bodies. Viraj pulled back a little and sweetly stared at his wife and both of them again met in a fierce kiss. Viraj clunged to her more tightly, knotting his hands in her hair, trying to tell her all the things he could never say out loud.

Shopping has always been one of the least favourite things to do for Viraj but unfortunately, life doesn't exactly care whether we like something or not. Regardless of what perception every man has for shopping they have to follow their wives.

Currently Viraj and Kavya both had came to a supermarket for their shopping date. It was super market which was only about a few minutes drive from Kavya's aunt's house. That super market on each and every day attracts a rather large number of shoppers from all the places. In fact looking at the humongous crowd it wouldn't be an exaggeration to suggest that most of the customers of this particular shop consider it as their family super shop.

Kavya continued walking in search of a particular shop and Viraj followed her politely. Both of them entered inside a clothing shop.

"What do you want to buy for yourself? A dress or a saree?" Viraj questioned making Kavya smile.

"I am going to buy formal dress for you for your office." Kavya replied and asked Viraj to follow her.

Both of them went into the Men corner and saw a salesman standing in the very extreme side. Kavya approached the salesperson in demand of a formal attire for her husband.

"Hello Ma'am and Sir, how may I help you?" The salesperson said.

"Hello! Actually I am looking for formal Shirt and trouser." Kavya replied looking at the available options of dressess.

"Alright Ma'am, Which size of shirt do you wear Sir?" The salesperson questioned.

"I wear size 34, you can show us shirts of that size." Viraj chipped in and started looking at the different variety of shirts.

Both of them kept on looking at different shades of the shirts and the end after coming to a conclusion kavya said "I like the plain, light shades in purple, green and blue. What do you say?"

"Well! Whatever my wife likes, I'll go for that." Viraj said making Kavya blush heavily.

"Wow! This is called a gentleman behaviour. Seriously Ma'am you are lucky that you have a husband like Sir." Kavya heard a saleswoman stating from a corner. The woman came and stood besides the salesman.

"Well thanks for the compliment I am indeed a lucky wife." Kavya pointed out holding Viraj's arm while looking at the female staff. She suddenly felt a strong urge to show her effect on Viraj in front of that other woman but Viraj knew that his wife was feeling territorial. He knew the ways to calm her down.

Instantly Viraj kept his hands on her waist and held kavya firmly.

"We will buy these items, kindly prepare the bill for us. Let's go Mrs Grover." Viraj said and pulled her along. Kavya felt that sudden jealousy leaving her soul and she felt her cheeks becoming warm because of Viraj's actions. She understood that there was no need of that sudden reaction as Viraj would always be with her.

It took them around some minutes to make the payment and at last they took their belongings and made their exit from the shop.

"Where do you wanna go next?" Viraj questioned and saw Kavya looking around with curiosity. She looked around like a baby in search of a game section.

"Let's go to that shop, that picture booth, we can get our pictures clicked and they will frame it as well for us." Kavya said and Viraj nodded along.

Both of them were about to enter the shop when Viraj received a call from his friend Rishabh.

"Just a second, Rishabh is calling me you go inside I'll just come in five minutes." Viraj said and went away leaving Kavya to enter alone.

She made her way inside and saw many couples getting their pictures clicked together. She smiled at the thought of posing pictures with her husband. She made her way at the front desk and thought to wait for Viraj. In the meanwhile an old lady saw her standing alone and came to her.

"Oh! Beta you? How are you doing?" The elderly woman questioned making Kavya perplexed.

"Aunty? Do you know me? I mean I am sorry, I had an accident a year back so if we know each other from before then I really don't remember much." Kavya humbly replied.

"Oh! That's so sad, I hope you are fine now. Actually this is my grandson's shop and I saw you coming in this shop an year ago with your fiance and I remember you because of your kind nature towards me that day. Basically you have helped me that day when I had fallen down so because of your kind behaviour I still remember you." The elderly woman said.

"Fiance?" After hearing the elderly women's statement all Kavya could register in her mind was only one word which was fiance. She was confused that 'had she been at this place with Viraj before their marriage'. As per whatever conversations she had with Viraj regarding before their marriage days all she could register was that they had been married just a week before her parents death.

So how could they come to this market and that too in this photo booth to get some pictures clicked together that too giving couple poses.

"Aunty, are you speaking about him. He is my husband. We came together at this place right?" Kavya said while showing a photo of Viraj and her in her mobile.

"Ah! Just let me look." The elderly woman said while looking at the picture carefully unknowingly increasing kavya's heartbeat.

"I--I don't know what to say. I think either I have missjudged the person with whom you came back or probably I heard wrong that day." The elderly lady said sophisticatedly while clearing her throat.

"Aunty can you please be more precise you are confusing me." Kavya pleaded, an unknown fear screaming at her from within.

"Beta don't get me wrong but the person's picture you are showing me is not the boy who came with you an year ago. This is not the person whom you introduced me with as your fiance."
