Lily had managed to slip into a compartment, luckily for her it was empty, nobody had to see her curl up into the corner and cry, and nobody got to ask questions. She didn't want to think about all the things Severus had said to her to impress his so called Death Eater friends, especially the fact he went as far as calling her that horrible name because he was embarrassed that his 'friends' saw her standing up for him. Lily buried her head in her knees and wrapped her arms around her legs, she blocked out everything and sat in her sorrow 'how foolish am I?' was her first thought, 'it's not foolish Lily, just cry' was the second thought, the one that prevailed.

James slid the door open to his compartment, he sighed and sat on the backwards facing bench, next to Sirius.

"Prongs, what was that about?" Sirius inquired.

"Nothing, just Snivellus being an utter git" James laughed in reply "Hey Moony, don't you have that prefect meeting soon?" James said directing his question to Remus.

"Yeah, in ten minutes" Remus replied, he paused for a moment "Have you seen Lily anywhere? I should probably go find her".

"Uh, yeah, she dodged into one of the compartments further up" James replied, pointing in the general vicinity.

"Thanks Prongs" Remus said, standing up to leave the 'Marauder Room'.

"She seemed really upset, Snivellus wouldn't let her be" James warned Remus

"Look who cares" Sirius mocked James in a high pitch voice

"Shut it Padfoot" James replied, his eyes sending a warning that he mean what he said, but a slight grin was playing on his face

Remus laughed as he left the compartment, he walked in the direction James pointed, discretely peering into each compartment, looking for a girl with fiery red hair. It didn't take him long to see the mop covering a set of legs, curled in the corner. Remus decided that he would enlist the help of someone he knew was capable of ratting out what had happened: Marlene McKinnon; Lily's best friend, she was once 'ranked' behind Severus Snape, but some recent happenings changed that. Lily would always spill to Marlene.

Remus sped up towards the compartment that he knew the girls would be in, he knocked on their door and quietly asked if Marlene could come with him, Alice, Mary and Dorcas looked up at him in bewilderment, he didn't explain but insisted Marlene came with him, eventually Marlene got up and left with Remus.

"So Lupin, where are we going?" Marlene asked once the door was closed. She bounced slightly, her wavy blonde hair bouncing softly along too

"It's Lily, she seems upset; can you talk to her?" Remus asked.

"Sure Remus" Marlene smiled, she had a habit of switching between first and last names,

"She's just in there" Remus awkwardly pointed into the compartment, trying to not be seen by Lily, he didn't have to worry though, Lily still had her head buried into her knees, although no longer sobbing.

Marlene quietly slid open the door "Hey Lil" She said softly, closing the door again, Remus moved totally out of the way, but still hung around near the door.

"Go away" Came her muffled voice.

"No" Marlene said, her voice soft but her tone strong "I'm staying here Lil"

Lily lifted up her head, her eyes still red and puffy from crying, tear streaks down her cheeks, a small wet patch on both knees where her eyes had leaked, Marlene came and sat down next to lily on the floor, "What's up?" Marlene asked softly.

"Se-Sev" Lily said through sniffles

"What about that ungrateful git?" Marlene said, a playful smile etched softly on her face.

"I-I don't know, he-he's been trying to apologise, but I won't let hi-him" Lily replied shakily between breaths, her voice breaking slightly.

"And nor should you" Marlene replied "He doesn't deserve you as a friend, just don't let him get to you" Marlene reasoned, "Happy face" She smiled, animatedly, attempting to pull the sides of her friend's mouth upwards. Lily laughed slightly, thankful that her friend cared so much about her

"Mar" Lily began "Potter stood up for me, he never does that" Lily said, looking at her friend

"Well, he must really like you" Marlene laughed

Lily laughed too, "Eww, no, I can't stand him" Lily made a gagging noise, she had brightened up considerably

"Do you want to come with me, back to the girls?" Marlene suggested

"I would love to Mar, but Remus and I have to go to that prefect meeting" Lily said

"Fair enough, you know, you could've at least sat on the seat, this floor is so uncomfortable"

"Sorry" Lily laughed.

"No Problem" Marlene laughed with her. The two stood up, Lily wiped the drops of water that refused to leave her face from her eyes, and walked out of the compartment, leaving it empty, Remus had been waiting outside, he smiled at Lily when she appeared in the hallway

"Should we go now?" He asked her

"Uh, yeah" Lily smiled, "See you on the platform Mar" Lily waved to her friend before leaving for the prefect meeting

Marlene popped her head into the girls' compartment "Hey, I'm just going to go say hi to the twats" She said, her legs already walking in the direction she was headed, but her upper half stayed still.

"Is everything okay? Where is Evans?" Dorcas asked

"Yeah, everything is fine, Evans in in a prefect meeting" Marlene said

"Wait, you mean the so-called 'Marauders'?" Alice asked

"Yeah, the twats" Marlene chirped, laughing slightly "Anyway, I'll be back in a tick" Marlene said closing the door and walking to the 'Marauder Room'.

Marlene opened the door to the boy's compartment, she slipped in and sat next to Peter Pettigrew without asking anyone for permission to do so.

"What can we do for you McKinnon? Oh, you want to come in? Sure, take a seat" James said sarcastically, acting out what he said. Marlene gave him a glare.

"How can our services be of use to you McKinnon?" Sirius asked, his tangled black hair falling over his face

"I just wanted to hang out with you guys" Marlene said coolly, crossing her arms. Peter had started to dig through a box of 'Bertie Bott's Every-Flavoured Beans'

"Well, nothing is happening anymore" James said

"You guys are so booorrrring!" She emphasized and also carried out the word boring, sliding down off the seat and onto the floor. Just then Peter started gagging, Marlene's head snapped in his direction, as did James and Sirius'; "What's up nugget?" Marlene asked, she enjoyed creating (sometimes cruel) names for Peter, he didn't seem to mind an awful lot; actually, he rather enjoyed the attention.

Peter was still making faces, but had stopped gagging "urgh, just got a vomit flavoured one!" He explained. The whole compartment erupted in laughter.

"And here I was thinking Wormy was the king of Bertie Bott's" Sirius exclaimed.

Marlene got up, "I promised the girls I wouldn't be long, but thanks for the laugh guys" Marlene smiled at the three, Peter still trying desperately to rid himself of the foul taste in his mouth. "See you around" She called as she left the compartment.
