Tails yawns while pulling himself out of bed. He wipes his eyes and looks out of the window. Looking at the sunrise was always one of his favourite things to do in the morning. The warm colours of the sun were soothing, the water by the side of their base glimmered and danced around as he wiped his face. It's been three months since Robotnik's demise and since then Tails and the others had a long time to relax and rejuvenate.

Tails goes to wash his face, he brushes his fur and puts on his gloves. He looks at the picture of Sonic and him together after the competition and Sonic nervously kissing his face, it makes him laugh a little. There's a knock on the door, he turns and sees Cream holding a tray with a plate of food and some juice.

"Oh, hey Cream! What's up?" Tails says.

"Hey Tails! I-I made you breakfast for you" The rabbit says with a friendly smile.

Tails takes the tray, "Thanks!"

"No problem! Gotta run, enjoy!"

Tails waves as she walks out of the room. When she's out of her sight he groans and looks down at the food. She made him chocolate and mint pancakes with a side of orange juice. He honestly wanted to throw it away, but her cooking was one of the things he liked, so he sits down, eats the pancakes and drinks the juice.

Over the years and thanks to Amy's help, Sonic's cooking skills improved dramatically it was to so much of a point that whenever the hedgehog prepared dinner there were no left overs... And Tails was the one who appreciated his cooking the most. When he's done eating he sighs and takes the empty plate and cup to the kitchen. When he gets there he sees that no other then Sonic is there cooking waffles and poached eggs for Amy, Knuckles, Shadow, Blaze, Silver, Sally, and Charmy to eat.

Sonic sees Tails coming in to put his plate and cup away and a smile appears on his face, "Yo Tails!"

Tails is startled by Sonic calling out his name. He turns to Sonic who's holding a pan of eggs and gestures for Tails to show him his plate. He slides two eggs on there and ruffles his head before joining the others at the table.

Tails slumps down by the window as the others chat and laugh at the table. He cuts off a piece of the poached egg and puts it in his mouth with the fork, he loves how warm and fluffy they feel in his mouth, he looks up at the chef who made them, Sonic who's sitting at the table with the others chat and converse together happily. He finished both eggs and then put the plate in the sink.

"Hey Tails!" Sonic shouts.

"Huh?"

Sonic runs around the table and grabs Tails by the hand, the alarmed Tails feels his heartbeat jump as Sonic spins him around while laughing. The others laugh with the blue hedgehog as he spins him around like an out of control merry go round. When Sonic's done he sets a dizzy and blushing Tails on the floor. The fox can barely keep his balance so he sits on the floor and waits until the dizziness starts to wear itself off. Tails finally sees Sonic's laughing face and he starts blushing wildly, he jumps to his feet and runs out so no one sees him the way he was.

"Is he okay?" Sally asks.

"Yeah, he'll be fine" Sonic responds.

"I hope"

Then, the others start laughing again. Sonic looks back at the fox as he shuffles away from the room, his hysterical grin starts to fade into a regretful frown as he watches Tails walk away back to his room.

Tails opens up his diary and moans audibly. Sonic peaks inside and watches as Tails writes in the book...

This morning, Sonic grabbed me and spun me around. To be honest I don't know why he did it, I'm thinking Knuckles dared him or something. But when he took me by the hand I froze, again. Whenever he touches me, I have this rush, it's warm, it's all bubbly. I guess it's my love for him growing stronger or something like that. It's also been three months now since the South Island incident, and honestly I have no regrets about what I did to Eggman at all. Killing him bought me so much joy if I may be honest, one less obstacle in my way to let my love for Sonic fly higher without all the turbulence...

There's a knock on the door, Tails looks at the doorway and sees Sonic peeping inside. He looks back at the diary but then he does a double take and when he sees that he's actually standing there at his doorway, fear starts to wash over him so he nonchalantly throws the diary behind him and smiles at the blue hedgehog.

"Hey Sonic! What's up?" Tails says.

"Nothing much, whatcha doin?"

"Nothing, just writing that's all?"

He looks down at the book Tails tossed and goes to pick it up. Tails dives onto the floor and gets the book before Sonic picks it up. The hedgehog is confused but decides not to think about it too much. Tails grins at him nervously, Sonic sighs and sits on his bed. Tails can feel his chest beating out excitedly. He's trying to keep his two bushy tails from wagging around excitedly but it's difficult when the one hedgehog you love so much is on your bed.

"So uh is that your diary?" Sonic asks.

"Yeah" Tails answers, his muzzle is flooding with red as he looks up at Sonic on his bed.

"Oh cool" Sonic answers, then he lays on the bed as if it's a lounge chair. Tails gets back up and puts the diary on the desk. Then he lays on the bed opposite to Sonic.

"Hey, you know that dimension jumping device Eggman was making? I managed to finish it! Wanna take a look at it with me later?" Tails asks enthusiastically.

Sonic grins, "Why not?"

"Alright!" Tails says excitedly.

"But uh before we go do that-"

Nervousness hits Miles like daggers.

"... Why did you run out of the kitchen like that?"

"I-I was embarrassed that's all..." Tails responds, trying to hide his anxiousness.

Sonic crawls over to Tails, the fox jolts a little. He didn't expect him to come so close to him, "Tails, come on I'm not gonna disown you or something. You're like a brother to me and that's not gonna change"

Tails whimpers nervously, he's screaming internally Sonic's so close he can see the glimmer in his eyes. His heart is racing a thousand miles an hour. His nose picks up on Sonic's scent he smelled like dried sweat and conditioner, it has a salty feel to it.

Sonic was starting to grow even more uneasy. So he slams his right hand next to Tails face.

"Sonic... I..."

"Tails, just tell me! What's wrong?!" Sonic pleads, desperate for an answer.

"I promise Sonic, I was just embarrassed!... That's all!" Tails shouts.

There's silence between the two and the room is dead silent. Sonic's head hangs down as the Fox looks up at him with crimson red on his whole face, the fox's cyan eyes looked up at Sonic's disappointed face. Tails right hand slowly makes it way upwards getting closer to Sonic's cheek. Sonic suddenly grabs his hand making tell yelp quietly, had he made things worse? Sonic instead of getting more flustered then he already was gently presses his hand on his face.

"Fine, you don't have to tell me... But I hope you know that you don't have to hide anything from me. Tell me when your ready... Alright?"

Tails nods, "I promise"

"Good..." Sonic answers with a laid back grin on his face, then he jumps off the bed, as if a switch flipped his mood was back to his normal energetic self, "Hey, don't forget to call me for that dimension portal thingy!"

"I won't" Tails says jumping out of the bed. Sonic dashes out of the room and Tails shuts the door behind him.

When Sonic is far enough from his room, all the excitement came to it boiling point and Tails started jumping around excitedly, laughing and whooping as if he was having a blast at a party. When he's done excitedly jumping around he takes a huge leap and dives onto his bed. Squirming around like an eager child, he stops for a moment and there's goofy smile on his face, huffing and puffing from all the exhaustion jumping around the room caused him.

"... He let me touch his face... Wow..."

More happiness and joy erupted from Tails yet again and he started squirm excitedly on his bed.

Later that day, after finishing up the device he was working on Tails sighed and set it on the table. He had been working on it for a while going through all sorts of different math formulas, equations, designs and went through multiple music CDs while tweaking his creation, and alas all his hard work had paid off. He rolled his office chair to another desk and started typing on a computer. There's a knock on the door and no ther then Sonic is standing there with 2 bags strapped around his shoulder.

"What's with the bags?" Miles asks.

"Well I'm assuming we're gonna be gone for a while so I packed a few things!" Sonic responds, then he takes some deodorant from his bag and sprays it all around him, when he's done he tosses Tails an orange bag with most of his stuff in it.

"Ummm, this isn't really supposed to be an adventure Sonic" Tails responds, crossing his arms.

"Come on Tails! I've been cooped up here for months! With barely anything to do... So I'm thinking why don't we crush some bad guys from other dimensions or maybe do some exploring! Have some alone time!" Sonic says, punching his fist with anticipation.

"Just the both of us...?" Tails asks shyly.

"Of course!" Sonic says excitedly, " I can't remember the last time we had time to ourselves anyway"

"True" Tails says with a laugh, "Okay... It's an adventure then..."

"Yeah! WOOOOOO!" Sonic shouts excitedly, amped for the coming days ahead.

Tails blushes at his enthusiasm.

The others gathered around in Tails workshop. While they were gone, Shadow and Amy would be left in charge of team operations, Kunckles hands Tails another large bag full of his gadgets and stuff. Cream gives Tails a hug and gives him a tin full of mints. Tails smiles and takes the gift from her. Meanwhile Amy gave Sonic a multicoloured bandana which Sonic happily accepted.

"You guys are actually going to see other worlds... This is awesome..." Amy says excitedly.

"It's a shame we can't come with you..." Knuckles says, the echidna sounds very disappointed.

"Yeah, I would have loved to meet an alternate version of me" Cream adds.

Sonic and Tails look at each other then back at the group of friends, all the friends they had made all those years, it was a large group... A family. Sonic couldn't wait to come back to them, same with Tails. Amy sniffles a little as the two step into the portal Tails blasted open.

"Hey! Faker!" Shadow shouts.

Sonic turns around.

"Don't you dare forget about us!"

"You worry too much Shads!"

Then the portal begins to shrink as everyone shouts their goodbyes. When it's finally closes, Tails and Sonic look at their surroundings, there's a brick building next to them and a fence on the other side. Tails looks up at the sky and sees the clouds up in the air.

"Well this is a depressing start" Sonic says.

"It'll get better... Don't worry!" Tails responds, then he takes out a small laptop like device from his bag and starts to type on it.

"So uh which universe is this one?" Sonic asks strolling around the area, then he sees paintings on the wall next to him - graffiti.

"We're in Universe 8754..." Tails responds, still looking down at the mini laptop.

"What's our universe called?" Sonic asks as he runs his gloved hand on the rough brick wall. The hedgehog was intrigued by the art on the wall, the colours spoke to him.

"I've decided to designate our universe as Universe X" Tails says.

"Universe X huh?... Hey Tails what's this?

The fox looks up at the graffiti and tilts his head to one side, "Ancient runes?... I don't know..."

"Whoa, alien languages" Sonic says in excitement.

"We don't know for sure if it's even alien in origin. We could be on a different Mobius after all" Tails responds inquisitively.

"... Pfft, still a nerd" Sonic responds, ruffling his head again.

Sonic then hears something moving and turns to his left, he sees a metal object roll by and runs out to go see what it is. When he sees it, he sees the red light illuminating and stares at it. Tails runs up from behind him and takes him back into the darkness aggressively.

"Hey! We don't know how the inhabitants here will react to us! Stay on the down low!" Tails whisper shouts.

"My bad..." Sonic says, then he hears a loud noise and sees another metal object on wheels rolling up behind another one but this time it has this brilliant white light, something from out of the future, there's a loud beep sound and then the vehicle starts moving again - A car.

"Whoa! Those are awesome!" Sonic says.

"Yeah, I wonder what those are too!" Tails says as he watches the metal vehicle make a turn.

"Let's follow it" Sonic says, eyes glowing with excitement, then he runs after the car.

"Hey! Sonic, wait up!" Tails shouts. The fox uses his tails to fly after Sonic.
