Sunlight creeps through the curtains in Tails room as he sleeps peacefully on his bed. He squints and open his azure eyes, he sits up and wipes his eyes when his vision is clear the first thing is sees is... Sonic's green eyes.

All the hairs on his orange coat stand up in surprise and he lets out a shout before backing into the bed frame hitting his head. Sonic snickers and starts laughing, Tails heart is pounding, he's flustered, shaking, blushing.

He retaliates by pushing Sonic backwards off the bed. Sonic shouts and hits the floor with a thud. There's silence after a while so Tails becomes nervous, did he push Sonic too hard? Did he crack his skull open? He slowly crawls to the end of the bed and slowly peaks his head, a hand grabs his wrist and yanks him off the bed.

Sonic is okay, his head hurts a little, but he's okay, Tails lands on top of him headfirst on his chest. Sonic's scent makes his heart fuzzy, his blush gets more intense. Sonic starts laughing again, Tails nervously laughs with him.

"Morning buddy" Sonic says.

"Morning" Tails responds, still intoxicated by Sonic's scent.

Tails gets off Sonic's chest and sits on the floor. Sonic jumps up to his feet and extends his hand to Tails who takes it so Sonic can help him up. When Tails is up on his feet, Sonic goes to look out his window.

"You okay?"

"Yeah... I just wish you didn't see me lose my crap like I did last night" Sonic responds.

"Your reaction, although extreme, was understandable. I would have done the same thing if she tried to have you killed" Tails responds trying to comfort him.

Sonic turns to look at him, "Would you?"

Tails nods.

"I just can't believe she was willing to go that far to get my attention. And I thought she was my friend..."

"Sonic! Tails!" Creams voice shrieks.

When they hear the distressed little rabbit the run out of Tails room to the living room, everyone is gathered around the television. Sonic looks at it and his eyes go wide, Tails is somewhat surprised as well.

"We come to you from the Waterside district where police have arrested the famous hero Amy Rose. Police are charging Miss Rose with premeditated manslaughter and she could now face the newly installed death penalty after an anonymous source last night notified police that Ms Rose attempted to have Miles Prower, the boy genius who helped develop most of the technology we have now, to be killed at her restaurant during a welcome back party for Sonic The Hedgehog. The one she ordered to do the killing, Richie The Tiger was found brutally dismembered in the restaurants freezer. Police now have reason to believe Miss Rose may have murdered Richie after he refused to go through with her request..."

"Not surprised... Dreadful it had to come to this though" Rouge says, then she bites into her pancake.

"Serves her right if you ask me. If it hadn't been for Tails, we wouldn't have been able to advance this far in terms of technology" Shadow says, the black hedgehog sips his coffee and puts the cup back on the saucer.

"I still feel awful for not telling you guys sooner" Cream says, looking down at the floor in shame.

"It's ok Cream... We're not upset with you" Sonic says, putting his hand on her shoulder.

"After all she did threaten you" Silver says whilst lounging on the couch.

"Yeah... You're right... Thanks guys" Cream says, everyone gives her a warm grin, except for Tails who's watching Amy being moved out of a police car on the television.

Tails is enjoying his breakfast which that morning was an egg sandwich, Sonic comes in to join him, with a plate of pancakes, sitting right next to him as he looks down at the food he worked hard to make, he couldn't wait to dig in.

"Itadakimasu" Sonic says clapping his hands together as if he's praying.

Tails is utterly confused by what he just did and takes a moment to look at Sonic as if he's crazy. Sonic cuts into one of the eggs on his plate but before he puts it in his mouth he sees Tails looking at him, still bewildered by what he just did.

"What's up buddy?"

"Um... What did you just say?" Tails asks.

"Oh it's just some Japanese I learned on Earth... I don't know too much of the language unfortunately" Sonic replies with a nervous chuckle.

"Do you atleast know what it means?" Tails asks.

"If I remember correctly, I think it's supposed to mean I'll be enjoying this... Like I'll be enjoying this food. It's kinda cool if you ask me" Sonic says.

Then Sonic gets an idea that puts a smug grin on his face, "Hey Tails~"

The fox looks from his plate to Sonic who's holding his fork out in front of your face, his heart begins to flutter, his face turns red.

"Wanna bite?" Sonic teases.

Tails whimpers and looks down at Sonic's fluffy pancakes, he's hesitant but he doesn't want to show any kind of weakness in front of Sonic. He gulps and slowly moves closer to bite on his food, Tails opens his mouth and takes a bite of the pancakes on Sonic's fork.

Sonic's face softens into a warm smile while he watches Tails chew on his food. Tails looks up at him and meets his gaze. The fluttering feeling in his chest grows more and more out of control, so much so he could feel himself panicking.

"I wouldn't say this regularly but you're awfully cute when your shy" Sonic says.

"Wh-Wh-What if someone sees us" He stutters.

"Unlikely"

Tails face feels like it's on fire, it's hard to keep his composure when Sonic is touching him and teasing him like this. Sonic's gloved hand moves to his face making Tails yip like a surprised puppy. Sonic puts his fork down and stares into Tails eyes, the fox wants to stop looking but his green eyes have him entranced.

"A-Are you drunk...?"

"Nah..."

What is happening? What is happening? What is happening??!!

The fox's breath is getting warmer, his chest feels like it's flowing lava, lava that's touching every part of his body. He doesn't want this to stop, the thrill, the rush, it feels right, it feels good. He grits his teeth and suddenly yanks the blue hedgehog closer to him, Sonic confused, laughing nervously when Tails does this, with a shuddery breath he touches noses with Sonic. This makes the hedgehog's face turn red when, he has no idea what's going on.

"You have no idea how important you are to me... Promise me you won't do anything to put yourself in harm's way..."

"T-Tails... I..."

"Promise me... Please..."

Sonic can feel how warm he is which heightens his concern about Tails. Was he sick? Was he scared? What was wrong?

"Tails... Your burning up..."

"...I'm fine"

"No you're not, you're hot. Like I can feel your body heat, is something wrong buddy?"

Tails lets go.

"I-Im okay, really... Don't worry about me" Tails says.

Sonic isn't satisfied with his response and grabs Tails by the waist pulling him in quickly. Tails can feel Sonic's hands shaking.

"You want me to stay safe, but I want you to be safe too. You're so damn important to me Tails!... Don't you understand that?!"

Anxiousness swells up inside the fox's chest, he had unintentionally made things worse and now he had to do something, Sonic's worry was starting to affect the way his body was functioning, his arms and hands were shaking, it was hard for him to stand, his heart was beating unbearably fast. Tails hated seeing him like this, he bites his lip... He knows one thing he could do but he worries it could ruin the way Sonic sees him, it was something he didn't feel ready to do yet... But his thoughts were like tangled wires, hard to organise, hard to think straight.

He shuts his eyes tightly, grabs Sonic by the face and gently presses his lips on Sonic's... There's silence as Tails continues to lick the inside of his mouth, enjoying the flavour somewhat. Meanwhile Sonic is dead frozen, every hair and quill on his body was standing up, his chest is burning, his face redder then a tomato, he's still shaking a little but it isn't as bad as before. Tails stops, there's a string of saliva connecting their tongues together when the fox is done, he wipes his mouth and looks away from Sonic almost immediately.

"Wh...wha...djh... Huh... Guh-"

Sonic doesn't know what to say... At all.

"Ahhh! Why did I do that! I'm such an idiot!" Tails shouts.

He gets up, takes his egg sandwich and runs out of the room.

"W-Wait!" Sonic shouts.

The fox is gone though, "T-Tails!"

Sonic wants to run after him but decides to give him some space instead... The burning fire in his chest was still ablaze, he didn't know why he looks in a mirror and his face is still red.

"Shit..." The blue hedgehog mutters.

He runs out of the kitchen and to his room, the first thing he does when he gets there is he starts hyperventilating. He doesn't know why Tails suddenly decided to kiss him like that, it's hard for him to breathe so hs decides to try and take a nap... He spends a few minutes rolling around in bed, trying to think about something other then that kiss... It's pointless.

"Maybe a run will help me calm down... A run always helps" He says to himself.

The hedgehog stands up, gets on his running shoes and goes outside, he does some stretches and then takes off down the road. He weaves passed some cars, over a bridge to one of the new metropolises springing up around the globe... Nightstar City.

It's a gloriously modern cyberpunk-like city with neon lights and technology that looked like it was out of this world. When the blushing blue blur arrives in the city centre, the first thing he does is go to Shadow's new café, his chest burning still. He opens the door, barely able to stand. Shadow is just finished serving another patron when he sees Sonic standing at the waiting area in the front.

"What the hell is he doing here?"

He notices something is wrong when Sonic suddenly starts squeezing his chest. His eyes go wide and he dashes over to him, Sonic's legs finally give out and he slumps over on the wall, his breath is so warm you could see it.

"Sonic!" He screams.

The entirety of the café gasps as Sonic lays there ok the wall. For once, Shadow is actually concerned about Sonic, he had never seen Sonic like that before because... Well, the hedgehog was always in good health.

He picks Sonic up and sits him at a table by the window so he can wipe his face, Shadow can feel how warm he is especially his chest which felt like it was literally on fire, "Chaos... You're burning up... What happened?"

"I don't wanna talk about it..." Sonic says weakly.

"Of course you don't... Don't you fucking move, I'm going to make you some tea..."

Sonic weakly gives him a thumbs up and watches jog to the kitchen. Most of the patrons stop paying attention to Sonic as he lays on the seat still struggling to breathe. Shadow comes back a bit later and pours a cup of tea for him.

Sonic drinks the tea and puts the cup on the table. Shadow sits by him to make sure he's okay.

"Take it easy..." Shadow says.

"If you say so Shads... Ahhh...."

Eventually Sonic's heart starts to ease up and he isn't shaking as much. His breathing slows and he's feeling somewhat back to normal within an hour.

"What did you give me?" Sonic asks.

"A relaxant... You were very stressed" Shadow responds, pouring another cup of the liquid for Sonic.

"Stress huh?... Who would've thought... Heh heh" Sonic says, he takes the cup and downs the entire thing.

"You're still not gonna tell me what happened aren't you?"

"If I told you, you wouldn't understand-"

The black hedgehog sighs, "Have it your way... Next time just take it easy. Now take the tea and get out, the lunch crowd will be here soon"

Sonic laughs at him a bit, "What you worried I'll become the talk of the town again?"

Shadow growls, "Just go..."

"Ok... Gotcha'" Sonic responds.

Sonic runs over to the park and decides to sit down. He had a bag containing the tea Shadow made incase he had another panic attack, now that he was much more relaxed he could try now to take a nap. He looks up at the clouds and then he closes his eyes.

In his dream he sees his favourite things in the whole world, a chilli dog. He walks over to it so he can eat it but a hand reaches out and takes the chilli dog from in front of him and eats it up, it's Tails and he's smiling like a playful child. The hedgehog is confused for a moment but then Tails jumps on him and kisses him the same way he did back at their place but with more aggression.

Sonic sits up immediately and puts his hand on his face, it's warm... And so is his chest... But he isn't panicking this time. Instead, he's curious, confused, flabbergasted.

"What's happening to me..." He says to himself.

He hears footsteps on grass not far from him so he looks behind him and low and behold, Tails is standing there holding a book. Sonic's face turns red and he looks away from the fox, Tails is concerned so he walks over to Sonic and sits next to him looking away from him as well.

"H-Hi..."

"Sup"

There's a moment of awkward silence between the two of them, the sound of the wind blowing the leaves was the only thing those two could hear.

"So uh... Can we talk?" Tails asks.

Sonic looks at him then back at the green grass again, "Yeah, I guess..."

"Look, I've just been so... Unsure lately... I don't know what's happening to me. This feeling... I only feel it when I'm around you"

"O-Oh, why's that?"

"I-I don't know" Tails whimpers.

Sonic feels his face warm up, he has a feeling why but doesn't want to be hasty and jump to conclusions. Instead though...

"You wanna know why I'm so playful with you..."

"Hm?" Tails goes.

"You make me happy... Like, really, really happy... I don't know why. Sometimes I think it's your smile, or the way you laugh, how you act like a little brother to me and scream at me for getting out of line..."

Tails blushes heavily, he's at a loss for words.

"And I've never told a lot of people this but I really like it when you nerd out heh heh... Seeing you grow and flourish and get smarter like that, it feels good. It feels good to watch you grow up. And you've come a long way... And I just wanna say... Thank you Tails. Thanks for giving me a reason to live, for being so wholesome, so funny... And heart achingly adorable"

The fox jumps on Sonic and squeezes him tightly, when Sonic sees him crying tears of joy it puts a smile on his face. Tails looks up at him with an unsteady, yet greatful grin on his face.

"Thank you Sonic..." Tails says shakily, he plants a kiss on Sonic's face, it makes the hedgehog panic a little but it isn't as bad as before.

"S-Sorry, did I-"

"It's fine... I don't mind any more..."

"O-Oh"

The fox rests his head on Sonic's chest, Sonic's muzzle is even redder now and he can feel his chest burning up yet again, he finds it difficult to breathe... He's having another panic attack. Tails, who's head is still on his chest, feels his heart rate jump and quickly jumps off of him.

"Sonic?! Are you okay?!"

"Ahnm, not again... Ngh"

Tails starts to panic so he looks around desperate for help.

"The thermus... Shadow made some t-tea, its supposed to h-help me calm down..."

Tails desperately scoops up the metal bottle and opens it, pouring some of the sweet smelling liquid into the cap. He picks Sonic's head up gently and helps him drink the tea, the fox takes his hand squeezing it desperately. After a few minutes, Sonic's panic attack subsides and he's feeling better somewhat.

"I'm sorry..."

"For what?" Sonic says weakly.

"For making you uncomfortable... You had a panic attack because of me"

"Tails... I just need to get used to this feeling. That's all"

"But-"

Sonic gently slaps Tails on the cheek, "It's not your fault... Cut it out"

Tails messages his cheek, Sonic sighs and starts to sit up, leaning himself against a tree trunk for support, "Buddy..."

"Yes, Sonic?"

"Let's stay a while"

He brings the fox's head onto his shoulder and squeezes him tightly. Tails can feel his heartbeat fluctuating a bit but it wasn't as bad as before, he notices Sonic's taking some breaths to keep his heart stable.

"I won't leave you..." Tails says hugging his big blue love tightly.

The two boys spend the rest of the day snuggled together under the tree, watching the sun go down was a treat for both of them. It relaxed their nerves, quieted their souls, by the end of the day Sonic had already come to a conclusion... The fox boy definitely had him feeling some type of way.

When it was time for them to go, Cream, who was going out to meet her friends in town saw Tails laying on Sonic's chest, it made her chest twist up, was he in a relationship with Sonic that she didn't know about. She watches as Tails laughs when Sonic picks him up for their run back to their base. When Sonic takes off she sits down on a bench and tries to process what she just saw.

"N-No way..."
