I stayed at Rina's side for most of the evening, starting from when she arrived at a bit past four thirty all the way until around seven thirty, when we began to eat. There were ten of us here; the seven boys, and me, Rina, and Ara, who Yoongi had brought along, but not before asking Rina to make sure she was okay with it.
It was obvious that Yoongi and Ara were both head over heels for each other and aware of it- flirty jokes were being thrown back and forth and they were so comfortable around each other, his arm slung over her shoulder almost the whole time.
Though I tried not to show it, I was ecstatic seeing them together, seeing that Yoongi finally seemed to have moved on from his previous relationship. Though he and his ex-girlfriend hadn't been together for long, I myself had seen the horrible effect that their relationship had had on him. From what I knew of her from the one time I had met her, she didn't quite seem like a very toxic person or something, but to be honest, I thought she was a little bit caught up in her own world, and hardly gave him the attention he deserved.
But despite the fact that she wasn't all too friendly, I was shocked when I found out that Yoongi was 'the other boy'. She was apparently in a long-distance relationship and cheated on her boyfriend with Yoongi, who had no idea.
Her boyfriend had come to her apartment as a surprise visit only to find Yoongi waiting outside too.
Broken when he found himself to be the one she was cheating with, he isolated himself for weeks. It took us forever to get him to break out of his shell, and he hadn't dated since. Hadn't even tried talking to people with any interest.
So it was great to see him like this with Ara, like he was healing bit by bit.
On the other hand, Jungkook seemed unable to stop blushing from his proximity to Rina when they were next to one another on the couch, which brought the cutest grin to Tae's face. I slapped his thigh to get him to be a bit more discreet, but he just slapped my hand back, ignoring my reprimands completely.
Now though, we had all finished eating a light dinner and were over to the drinks when someone suggested a game of monopoly.
"Oh yes!" Rina pulled my arm and dragged me to the rug on the floor, where Namjoon and Jin were setting things up, arguing as per usual.
"It'll be more fun though!" Jin whined.
"It's gonna be too chaotic! There's ten of us, we have to play in teams. Pairs. It'll be so much easier and there'll be less chaos so we can actually play.
Jin pouted, which looked hilarious considering that he was the oldest out of all of us here but still acting like a child. "Fine."
I gulped down a glass of water, something I'd been doing since I started drinking so as to be able to drink more but also not get drunk for longer. It also usually helped with the hangover, especially since I'd drank quite a bit already. The lightheadedness was already starting to set in, and I figured I was just a couple of shots away from being completely inebriated.
Placing the empty glass down, I patted Rina on the shoulder to tell her that I was going to be right back.
Leaving the group to argue out who would be paired with whom, I ran upstairs to use the bathroom.

"Okay! So, final order," Namjoon hyung stepped forward and used his authority voice, making us all shut up. "The two of us," he said, gesturing to himself and Jin, and I smiled. Those two could never stop arguing but at the same time were absolutely inseparable.
"Rina and Jungkook; Ara and Yoongi; Hoseok and y/n; and jimin and Taehyung. That's okay with everyone? You know what, I don't care if it's not, we're gonna start playing now. Where is y/n?"
"She just went to use the restroom, she'll be back in a minute," replied Rina, taking another sip of her drink. Surprisingly drinks were currently to a minimum, except y/n, who I'd noticed had already had quite a bit to drink.
"Wait wait wait," I said, holding my hands up. "I want y/n."
I'd been in a ridiculously happy and goofy state since last night, when she had kissed me goodnight, and it definitely had given me a confidence boost. Better try to shoot my shot where I could while the confidence lasted.
Rina grinned at me, while jimin face palmed. "I thought we were friends, bro."
"She's smarter than you," I shot back, "we'll be more likely to win."
"Oh, come on, jimin! You can be with me! It'll be fun!" Hoseok scooted over to make space for jimin. "Come on!"
There was a collective grin as we all watched hoseok be the precious bean that he is.
Once jimin sat next to him, however, he rubbed his hands together, whispering "it's okay, we're gonna beat the shit out of those mfs."
Rolling my eyes, I looked over to the stairs where y/n was coming back downstairs, and scooted over so that she could sit next to me.
"We made teams, you and Taehyung are together," Namjoon told her as she sat down.
"Great!" She looked genuinely excited. She grinned at the others. "Nothing like having a businessman partner to play monopoly. I suck at this game." She stretched back and yawned. "Okay! Let's get started!"
"Wait wait wait!" Yoongi held his arms up in a stop gesture. "We should have prizes and punishments. It'll be more fun."
"Oh, that's actually a really good idea," said Rina, nodding. "How about for every time you land in jail, it's one shot-" there was a collective nod of agreement around the group at that. "And for prizes... I don't know."
"Um- anyone?"
"Wait, I have one!" I cut in. "I have this one pack of Oreos. There's only eight in there, so only the first pair to go bankrupt doesn't get them."
There was a murmur of agreement. Then, unplanned, every pair began to discuss strategy of how they aimed to win the Oreos. This wasn't a board game anymore. This was war.
***
Turning to y/n, I asked her what our strategy was. She shrugged. "You're the businessman, buddy, you tell me. I'm not very good at this game."
"We need to plan something," I hissed. "Or else the others will know we don't have a strategy and pick us as easy targets."
"Easy. We pretend to have an elaborate plan." She leaned in and whispered into my ear: "just keep whispering to each other over the course of the game and they'll think we have a plan."
I ignored the goosebumps that rose on the back of my neck as her breath fanned my skin and nodded. Leaning back in, I whispered a quick "ok" and turned to face the game.
***
"Okay! Y/n and Taehyung's turn," said Rina, passing over the dice. You guys are safe as long as you don't roll a four."
I looked over at y/n. "Can you do it?" She asked.
"Sure, give here." She passed me the dice, our fingers brushing past each other's for far longer than necessary, but I wasn't complaining.
Turning towards the board, I tried to block out y/n's little chants of "please dont get four, please don't get four," and looked back at her one last time before rolling the dice.
Leaning forward to see the board, she placed her arms around my shoulders to meet in front of my neck and placed her chin on the top of my head.
I rolled.
And just my luck, a four.
***
"No, Rina, I know she's your best friend, but you can't go easy on them. Pour a little more, it needs to fill up the shot glass." There was pandemonium as Rina filled up the glasses which y/n and I were to drink from.
I wasn't too worried since it was just one shot, but y/n had already had quite a bit to drink, and she was quite small as well. I wasn't so sure about how high her tolerance was. There hadn't been any issue so far, thankfully, despite her having drunk a little bit already, she wasn't showing any signs of being too tipsy. Clearly she had begun to loosen up because of the alcohol, but it didn't seem serious.
"Hey," I leaned down to whisper in her ear.
"Yeah?"
"How high is your tolerance?"
"Not too high, I'm a bit of a lightweight" she replied.
"But you're okay right now, right? I saw you'd had a couple of drinks already."
"Oh, yeah. I'm not really too bad right now, just feeling tipsy, but if I take a couple of shots I'm not gonna be sober much longer," she laughed.
Rina had filled the glasses and made her way over to us.
"Here. And since you guys clearly have such great chemistry as a team. Take it together." Setting the two glasses down, she moved back. Y/n picked up her glass as I did the same, and looped her arm through mine.
"One, two three!" I downed the shot in a single gulp, the bitter alcohol burning my throat on its way down. I scrunched my face up as I set the glass back down, whereas y/n slammed it down on the little table, resilient and unfazed by the taste.
I passed the dice to Yoongi, who was after us.
***
"Woohoo! Okay! I'm totally not already feeling the alcohol." She turned to me after a few minutes, clearly even further loosened up by the alcohol. "This is fun!" He scooted closer and pulled my arm over her, snuggling into my side as she made sound affects as each person played.
Rocking back and forth as each other pair took their turn, she leaned back to reach her glass. I pulled her back, closer to myself. "No more drinking," I advised, grabbing her shoulders and pulling her against me once more as she reached out for the drink. "What if we land in jail again? You'll be totally out."
"Heyyy!" She drawled, reaching out for it over and over, but not using nearly enough strength for it to be too difficult to hold her back. Her intoxicated state seemed to not only weaken her physical strength, but her will as well, because eventually she gave up and slumped against my side, not really paying attention to the game.
I was trying my best to pay attention to what was happening until she began to weave her fingers through mine. Don't pull her closer don't pull her closer.
"Tae?"
"Yeah?" Our faces were way too close right now, and she smiled up at me like she didn't have a care in the world. For a second there, I was tempted to place a kiss on her lips- I doubt she would really have such a huge issue with it right now, even if she didn't like me, as compared to when she was sober- but I restrained myself for a multitude of reasons.
For one, it wasn't right of me to take advantage of the fact that she was on her way to being intoxicated, and, even if, for whatever reason she liked me back, I didn't want our- my- first kiss to be when she was drunk. Not to mention that we were surrounded by our friends and it would be horrible of me to impose on her the embarrassment of the thing.
The game went on relatively normally after that, filled with a ton of arguing and competition form the others while y/n and I were largely quiet, laughing at the other's antics. Every once in a while she'd snuggle in closer against my body, and I didn't really mind at all.
It was Namjoon and Jin's turn when I felt her pull away suddenly, and I looked over to see her grabbing a glass. Not seeing what was inside, I pulled it out of her grasp, and she scowled at me.
"Cut that out," she pouted, grabbing it back. "It's water."
She didn't seem angry, though, because after finishing the water she draped my arm over her shoulders again, leaning into my chest, and twisted her fingers through mine absentmindedly.
Eventually, we came towards the end of the game, with Yoongi and Ara going bankrupt first, followed by Namjoon hyung and Jin, and then Rina and Jungkook. This left y/n and me versus Hoseok hyung and Jimin, the competition starting to get out of hand.
Mainly it was just me and Jimin playing, while y/n and hoseok faced off in what was almost a diss competition. They had also landed in jail once, and rather than each one of them taking a shot, hoseok had both, leading to him also being a bit tipsy.
None of the others were paying us much attention, they had moved a little away off the rug to eat the Oreos and were talking amongst themselves.
"Taehyung," y/n growled, and I looked over at her. She and hoseok seemed to be facing off, sending each other glares. She didn't break eye contact with him.
I stifled a laugh. "Yeah?"
"You'd better win."
"Okay" I smiled, turning to Jimin. "You better let me win," I mouthed.
"No way," he replied. "I'm gonna show you that you should've taken me on your team."
I frowned. "I'll take you next time, I promise. Just let me win, okay?"
"why- " his glanced at y/n's hand in mine, our fingers interlocked. His eyes went round and glassy as a grin spread over his face. "Are you guys dating?" He whispered.
"What?! No, no no," heat filled my cheeks as I looked away.
"You like her, don't you?"
I didn't reply, instead just pushed his shoulder. "Just play already."
He smirked and proceeded to go bankrupt on purpose.
"There! You win!" He said with a grin.
"Yea! YAY! YES YES YES! YESSS!" I turned to her only to be tackled in a huge hug, the force of it pushing me over onto the ground, with her still not releasing me from her bone-crushing embrace.
I laughed, and put my arms around her as well, one resting on her back and the other twisting into her hair, and I placed a light kiss on the top of her head before I even considered what I was doing.
I was almost entirely lost to the world until I heard jimin wolf whistling from behind me, and I propped her limp figure up into a sitting figure before sitting up myself. Looking around though, I was relieved to see that the others hadn't quite seen what happened.
I glared at jimin, who was overcome by a fit of giggles.
"Not a word," I warned. "Don't even think about it."
"Did you guys hook up, or...?" He whispered to me.
"No!" I looked back to make sure nobody else had heard. "No."
He smirked. "Well, I mean, not yet."
I flushed an even deeper red. "What are you talking about?"
"Have you seen the way she looks at you? She's totally into you, man. Shoot your shot quick, you guys are good together." He clapped his hand on my back, and walked to the kitchen to grab an Oreo. "Oh, and also, you might wanna keep a watch on her, I think she's trying to get another drink," he said, pointing behind me.
Not wanting to leave her intoxicated and alone, I walked over to sit next to her on the floor, where she was curled up and cradling a little bottle. As I got closer I thought I heard her whimper, and rushed forward to see if she was okay.
"Y/n! Y/n, are you okay?"
She looked up at me, her eyes glossy with tears.
"Hey, hey hey." I sat down next to her. "Are you okay?"
"I yawned so much I'm crying, isn't that funny?" She giggled lightly and latched her arms around my neck. "I'm crying because it's funny. I'm all okay, a-okay," she hummed, nestling her head into my collarbone. "You know that thing? I'm Jisoo, I'm okay," she giggled softly again. "I like Blackpink. Do you like them? You should like them, everyone likes them." She broke off into singing one of their songs, and we sat there for the next couple of minutes. I closed my eyes and listened to her soft voice, which broke off every once in a while when she would come to a rap bit, and she would mumble and slur over the words, unable to say them all at speed.
Eventually, though, her breathing became slow and even, her voice softer, and she placed more of her weight on me. I once more placed my arms over her, one on her back and one in her hair.
I looked over to the clock on the wall, which read a bit past ten forty five. It wasn't really late yet, but everyone was kind of sitting in their own groups of twos or threes around the house, and I knew Rina would have to leave soon since her parents were going visit her the next morning.
The room which y/n and I were sitting in had been empty for a while now, and I could see that there were only a couple of people in the kitchen, leaving the rest to be either in the tv room...or upstairs in one of the bedrooms. I shuddered at the thought and made a quick prayer for everyone to be sensible and stay out of my room, at least.
I heard foot steps coming our way and my head snapped up.
"Hey, Taehyung, Rina's leaving." Jin hyung told me. He didn't comment on the way y/n was literally holding me like a koala, just smiling a little.
"Oh, um. Yeah. I'm coming. One sec." I tapped y/n lightly to let me go so I could stand up.
"Noooooo," she drawled.
"Hey, it'll just be a second." I felt like I was talking to a little kid, the way she refused to let go.
"No, stay here," she mumbled.
"Oh, come on, y/n, don't you want to say bye to Rina?" Jin came forward to kind of help me out.
"Rina."
"Yes, Rina. She's leaving, and we need to go say bye, okay?"
"Oh."
I smiled at the contrast between y/n now and her usually articulate self, and used the opportunity of her absentmindedness to quickly slide out of her grasp.
Once I had stood up, Jin hyung helped me to get y/n to stand up, and she grasped my arm as we walked to the front door. I swear I'm not enjoying this too much.
Rina was just getting into Jungkook's car with him as we got to the front door, and we waved out at the two of them as they drove out of the driveway and Jungkook went to drop her off at home.
Shortly after, Namjoon and Jin took their leave, and jimin went upstairs to the guest bedroom to sleep after deciding he would stay over for the night. Hoseok didn't really know what to do so he claimed the couch, something I used to do in his house way too often.
I went to the kitchen to get some water after leaving y/n in the tv room, where I saw Yoongi on his phone. When I asked him where Ara went, he told me she'd apparently left a while ago, even before Rina. I felt bad that I hadn't been there to say bye, but at the same time, to be entirely honest, it wasn't a big deal.
"So will you drop y/n at home?" I asked. I had no issues with her staying over, but I just figured her brother would be worried and I wasn't sure if she would have been okay staying at my house when there was a bunch of guys over, even if they were her friends.
Yoongi face palmed. "Fuck! I knew I forgot something."
"What's wrong?"
"I can't drive right now I had too much to drink, I was gonna ask if I could stay."
"You can, of course."
"But how is she gonna get home? I don't think she should take a cab at this time."
"Don't worry, hyung. I'll drop her off."
He smiled at me, "thanks, Taehyung. I'll go upstairs, can I take the guest room?"
"Jimin's in the guest room, you can have the master bedroom."
His eyes widened. "You still sleep in the tiny bedroom?"
I sighed. "Yes, I do. Now goodnight."
He handed me the car keys and trudged up the stairs.
Walking back to the tv room, I found y/n asleep on the armchair, her limbs limp and her mind groggy even after I shook her awake.
"I wanna go home," she mumbled, as I got her to sit in the shotgun seat of the car.
"Yes, I'm taking you home, okay? We'll be there soon." I strapped her seatbelt in place.
"Okay." She looked in my direction, her eyes a bit unfocused. "Thank you, Tae."
I got into the driver's seat and strapped myself in, turning back and placing my arm on the shotgun seat as I backed out of the driveway.
She fell asleep within a minute, and it took immense willpower to keep my eyes on the road and not on her.
Her breathing was slow and even, quiet puffs of air being inhaled and exhaled. Every couple of minutes, she would mumble something in her sleep unintelligibly, which I was unable to understand.
A few minutes later, I pulled up in front of her apartment building. Leaning over to her seat, I shook her gently to wake her up.
"Hey, y/n. Y/n, we're here."
"Mmm." She turned away from me, still asleep.
"Oh, come on." I got out of my seat and went over to her side, pulling the door open. Unbuckling her seat belt, I turned her face towards mine, and tapped her on the shoulder again. Her eyes just barely opened.
"Tae."
"Yeah, it's Tae. Okay, I'm gonna need you to get out of the car now, and I'm gonna take you upstairs."
She rubbed her eyes. "Oh, my head hurts."
"Well, we're gonna go upstairs, and then you can sleep, okay?" I held her arms to give her support as she got out of the car.
"Yes, yes yes," she took a couple of steps forward, stumbling slightly. I ran forward to help her, but she had grabbed onto the railing of the steps to the front door of the building.
However, instead of walk up the stairs, she slumped down against the railing and sat down on the steps, burying her face in her hands.
"My head hurts," she whined. "Oh, it hurts so much."
"Hey, hey, hey. You're gonna be fine, let's go upstairs, and you can sleep. The headache will go away then, okay?" I knew that wasn't necessarily true: considering that the headache was just beginning to kick in a few hours after drinking, it probably wasn't going away until later tomorrow. But obviously I wasn't going to tell her that.
"It hurts," she whimpered once more, and a cold hand tightened around my heart hearing her sound like that.
"Shh, we'll get you back home, okay?" I sat down next to her, running one hand through her hair gently.
She scooted a little closer and wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me into an almost- hug. "It hurts," I heard her whisper.
"Come on, let's get you home."
She didn't move, and I didn't push her to. I wanted to let her take her time.
But in a minute or so I realised that it was a huge mistake doing so, because within that time she had fallen back asleep, leaning on me.
Letting out a sigh, I tried to get up, but her arms were still latched around my neck. Great. I leaned down and placed on arm on her back and the other behind her knees, standing up and holding her bridal style.
Under normal circumstances I would've enjoyed this so much, the way she nuzzled her head into my chest and held on to me tight, the way her breath fanned my skin and how, at every few steps I took, she would stir from her sleep slightly, her eyes barely opening before closing once more, but right now I was too preoccupied with getting her home.
Normally, I would take the stairs, but I pushed the button for the elevator with my elbow, still holding onto her tightly as her interlocked hands over my shoulders had gone slightly limp. Once inside, I pushed the button for her floor and waited as the elevator slid upwards smoothly. My arms were starting to take the tool of holding her for so long, so it was a relief when the doors slid open and I walked into the hallway of her floor and towards her front door.
In front of the elevator, however, were two armchairs for people to wait in, I guess, sort of like what you might find in a hotel. I placed her down in one of them gingerly, and, leaning down, prodded her awake once more.
"Yeah?" Her eyes opened wider than before as she seemed to try and take in the surroundings.
"Hey, so sorry, we're almost home, I just need you to unlock the door, okay? Then we'll be home."
"Keysinmypocket," she breathed.
"What?"
"Keys in my pocket," this time more clearly.
"Oh, um." I hesitated. This was a bit of a stretch, I didn't want to take them out of her pocket-
"Here," she mumbled, dropping them in my hand.
I helped her sit up, and then walked her over to the door. Unlocking it and swinging it open, I led her in and sat her down on the chair next to the door.
I knew she really didn't like shoes in the house, so I leaned over and pulled her shoes off before slipping out of my slides.
Then, getting her to stand one last time, I led her into her bedroom and lay her down on the mattress.
Her eyes opened a tiny bit again, and focused on me.
"Taehyung," she slurred.
"Yes?"
She smiled a little. "You're kind of cute, you know," she giggled to herself softly. "Oops. That was supposed to be a secret, silly."
I smiled, ignoring the butterflies that had erupted in my stomach at those words.
"Get some sleep, y/n. I've left the keys on the-" the sudden thought occurred to me that she probably wouldn't remember anything I said in the morning, so I went over to the refrigerator to take the sticky notes and pen she had kept on it, attached by magnets. Turning on the kitchen light, I leaned over and began to scribble down whatever she might need.
Keys are on the bench next to the front door.
Make sure to eat a banana with breakfast, it helps ease the hangover.
eggs are also good
I leaned back to check that there were, in fact, bananas in the kitchen. It was then that I realised that I wasn't sure if she had any ibuprofen to help her with the headaches in the morning. Shit. I should go down and buy some.
Since it was a Saturday night I was sure there'd be plenty of pharmacies around the area where I could find something, but I found that I didn't need to go far when I looked out the window onto the street and saw one just a building away on the opposite side of the road.
Taking the keys with me and locking the front door, I ran down to the shop to buy it, and within minutes I was back.
Opening the front door as quietly as possible, I placed the keys back on the bench and went into her room once more to keep her hangover medicine on the nightstand.
Heading back to the kitchen to write on the sticky note that the medicine was on her bedside table, I tripped over one of the folding chairs, and though I managed to catch it before it feel over, there was still a slight clatter.
I held my breath for a second, hoping I hadn't woken up her brother. No sound came, so I scribbled down:
hangover medicine on your night stand
Drink lots of water
Call me if you need anything
~Tae
I didn't usually address myself as Tae, and though my friends sometimes did, it was y/n who had really gotten me used to being called by that name. I smiled at the thought and went to paste the sticky note on the inside wall next to her bedroom door. That way she'd be sure to see it in the morning.
Taking one last look around to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything, I closed the front door of the apartment as quietly as I could, and then made my way downstairs to go back home.
A/n: hi and sorry that im updating so sporadically :( I've been facing so many technical issues and though I've saved this in multiple places there was something wrong with my device and i just wasn't able to access anything for a long while.
also i know this chapter is super long compared to usual, but i just felt like it would break the flow if i ended it anywhere in the middle.
Hope you enjoyed reading and that you're having a great day or night.
love you <3
