Taehyung eventually suggested a few items to me and Rina, which we ordered immediately, and we began to chat as we waited for our food to come.
Rina was sitting to my left, Jungkook opposite her. As she picked out her phone from her pocket and opened up a picture of one of her artworks to show Jungkook I caught him looking at her with the most infatuated look I had ever seen. Ever.
It was like she was the only one in his world right now. A slow smile spread across my face, and I nudged Taehyung's foot under the table.
He looked up at me and at them, then smiled back at me.
"Whipped," he mouthed to me, gesturing to Jungkook.
His foot under the table brushed against mine again.
"Oh, y/n, do you want to go see that thing?" He asked me nonchalantly, looking away.
"Huh?"
"That thing. That you wanted to see." He looked at me like I was stupid, and it suddenly clicked in my head.
"Oh, yeah! That thing. Yeah. Come on, let's go check it out." I stood up and walked over to his side of the table, grabbing onto his arm like a little kid before I realised what I had done, and then drew my hand back suddenly, blushing furiously.
Rina looked up at us when Tae stood up next to me and placed his hand on my shoulder. "Where are you guys going? Can I come too?"
"No!" Taehyung burst out before turning almost as red as me and quickly drawing his hand away from me. "I mean, you can just stay here, y/n and I are just-"
"Oh, that's okay then," she said, a small smirk playing on her lips. "You guys go ahead."
"Rina, it's not-" I almost broke in to say that this wasn't what she thought it was, but he placed his hand on my shoulder and held me back, motioning to let it be. My face was flushed as ever, which he smiled at, and poked my cheek with his finger.
"Let's go, y/n." He said softly.
So, rolling my eyes, I took him by the hand and walked away from the restaurant down the path towards the garden.
Passing a clump of trees and getting out of sight of the restaurant, I stopped walking suddenly and turned to face him.
But I had stopped so suddenly that he bumped into me first.
"Sorry."
"What was that?" I hissed. I wasn't angry; I couldn't be. But I put as much force in my tone as I could. "Rina probably thinks that we're sneaking around together, when it's supposed to be the other way around!"
"I'm sorry," he said, his eyebrows furrowing and his face turning into a little pout.
"Taehyung, aegyo isn't going to fix this," I said jokingly.
He pouted even more. "Okay."
I laughed. "Oh, come on. Don't be such a baby." I reached up and patted his head. "Let's walk."
"You're seriously not angry?" He asked me, surprised. He walked in front of me, blocking my way forward on the path, so I looked up at him again.
I smiled at him again. "No, I can't stay angry at you, Taehyung."
I saw his eyes go wide and suddenly realised how that must sound.
"I mean- not like-"
He placed his hand over my mouth lightly, and smiled down at me. I expected him to say something, but nothing. The close contact was making my heart speak for itself, though, and I could feel it racing in my chest. He bent down a little bit until his eyes were at the level of mine, and I tried to focus on my breathing.
"Don't finish that sentence," I thought I heard him whisper, his lips barely moving.
"What?" I spoke, my lips against the palm of his hand.
But the moment was over in a second when he let go and stood up straight, grabbing my arm and walking with me down the path as if nothing had happened.
It was quite a peaceful walk after that, really. Though I kept replaying it in my head, did he say that? I was easily distracted by the plants and there was a little pond sort of thing where there were some little fish.
I stood at the edge of the water, watching the fish.
"You now what this reminds me of?" Tae said, coming up to my right side from behind me.
"Hm?"
"The business dinner. The one that you came with me for. We had food outside in the garden thing there, next to the fountain. This hotel kind of reminds me of that one."
"Oh, yeah. That was fun." I smiled at the memory.
"You really helped me out that day, you know," he said. "Though I'm not sure if if you realised it at the time."
I frowned. "What did I do?"
He laughed, shaking his head. "A lot. I'm not sure if even I could explain it."
I kept quiet, having no idea what the heck that meant.
He reached out for my hand and took it in his. "Let's go back?"
"Sure." We walked back again in silence, but it was comfortable. I almost forgot about his hand in mine, and when I let go suddenly, I felt that I had just made the situation all the more awkward. But all that awkwardness disappeared when we saw Rina and Jungkook laughing at the table together, his hands placed on top of hers, and looking at each other like there was nobody else in the world.
"Oh my god," I whispered to Tae. "I want to die, they are so cute!" I looked at him. "Come on."
We walked back down to the table to join the two of them for lunch.

"Jungkook, can you pass the- thanks," I said, as he passed me the dish. The food here, yes it was hella expensive, but it was the tastiest shit I had ever had.
I struggled to keep myself proper and polite and not stuff my mouth with food, and I could tell the other three were too. That made me glad. At least I wasn't the only unsophisticated one here.
Taehyung was opposite me Jungkook next to him. Rina was sitting opposite Jungkook, and I was glad to see that her eyes hardly wavered from him, only a flustered looking away whenever their eye contact met.
"Are you enjoying the meal, ma'am?" A voice came from a bit behind me. I turned to see one of the hotel staff, clearly not a waiter, walking towards us.
"Yes, very much," I replied as he got closer. He looked about our age, and though he definitely was quite good looking, he didn't really appeal to me in that way. I was quite flattered that he had asked me, since a lot of the time hotel staff only asked the men how they liked the food. It was something I'd noticed growing up, and something I had experienced quite often as well.
"Sorry to interrupt," he said, seeing that we were all still eating.
"Not at all, no issue," I smiled at him and he smiled back, a wide sweet smile.
"Is there anything I can get you?" He asked me.
"Uhm..." I looked around at the others, who looked back at me blankly. "No, I think we're good. Thanks so much though!"
"No problem." He gave us one last smile, and walked away towards the building.
"Whoa, y/n, you do be picking up them dudes today," said Jungkook, his mouth full of food.
"Huh?"
"Are you kidding, you didn't notice?" He looked at me incredulously. "That guy was totally hitting on you!"
"Jungkook, I think that's taking it a bit far," Rina commented. "Just because he was polite enough to ask a girl for once and not the guy, it doesn't mean he was hitting on her. But yeah, I he definitely thought you were really hot. He didn't even look at any of us."
Taehyung stayed silent as he filled his mouth with food.
"Whatever," I sighed, finishing up my last bite of food. I called over a waiter to ask for some water.
"Would any of you like any dessert?" He asked, looking around at the four of us.
"Not for me, thank you," I said, leaning back against the chair. Sweets have never really been my thing. Other than occasionally baking cookies, of course.
"Could we see the menu please?" Rina asked.
"Sure, ma'am." He left to get the menus and came back with three of them a few seconds later.
Rina, Jungkook, and Taehyung looked at the menus while I looked around at the garden. A particular plant caught my eye, some kind of shrub which I had never seen before. I decided to send a picture to my mum to ask her if she knew what it was, since she always tried to find out about any plant she couldn't identify.
Standing up, I walked down the path towards the plants, taking out my phone. I carefully took a few pictures, making sure to capture this plant only. I had just sent them to my mum when I saw the guy who had come earlier walking on the path on the other side of the water.
"Excuse me!" I called out, suddenly realising that I had no idea what I called out for.
Catch sight of me, the guy walked towards me. I quickly glanced towards my table to make sure that I was in sight of my friends. Didn't want a repeat Daehyun.
"Yes ma'am, how can I help you?" He smiled again.
"Uh, do you know what plant this is?" I asked, gesturing towards it. "My mum is big into plants, and I've never seen it before, so I was just wondering."
He looked a bit disappointed. "No, ma'am. I don't, sorry. But if you like I could try and find out-"
"Oh no, that's okay," I said, before he could do something like ask someone else. The last thing I wanted was to make a big deal out of this. "And please, call me y/n."
"Yes, ma'am- I mean y/n! So sorry," he shook his head and looked down, making me laugh.
"I'm Lee Minjun, the Marketing manager here, by the way," he said, gesturing to his ID badge thing, and handing me a business card. It was a little white thing with his name, business number and mobile contact written on in small blue font.
"Well, it's nice to meet you," I said, holding out my hand. He looked a bit taken aback by the action, but took my hand and shook it anyways.
"So I trust you enjoyed your lunch?"
"Yes, it was amazing!" I held myself back from gushing about the food.
He smiled. "Glad to hear that. Now, m- Uh, y/n-" he looked over my shoulder uncomfortably.
"Yeah?" I turned around to see what he was looking at. Back at our table, the three of them were sitting there, Jungkook and Rina engaged in some sort of conversation as usual, and Taehyung looking away at something. "What's wrong?" I asked Minjun.
"Uh... nothing." He cleared his throat. "I should probably get going. I hope you enjoyed your time here, do visit again." The last few sentences came out rushed, and he gave me a quick nod before walking away in the opposite direction.
I stood there for a few seconds wondering what the heck happened before I turned back and headed towards the table. He had probably forgotten something he had to do, that's all... but I still felt a little strange about his actions.
***
When it was time to pay and the bill came, I scrambled for my wallet which was in my bag, but Tae was far more prepared then I was. He handed over his credit card with a blank face.
Rina and Jungkook just wouldn't stop their own little conversations, and since I got the feeling that Tae didn't really feel like talking right now, I kept my mouth shut.
The three of us walked towards the lobby where Jungkook and Tae quickly excused themselves to use the restrooms.
I turned to Rina, about to tease her about how well things were going with Jungkook, when I saw Minjun wave out to me from across the lobby. I walked over to him quickly, wondering what he wanted to say.
"Sorry about that time, y/n. I didn't mean to be rude and leave you there, it's just that your boyfriend was glaring at me so dangerously I genuinely felt terrified for my safety and just left as quickly as possible."
"My- who?"
"Your- your boyfriend, or whoever that was. The one in the blue shirt."
"Taehyung? Are you serious? Nah, he was probably looking at someone else. He's not the kind of guy to just glare at you for no reason."
"But he kind of had reason if it looked like I was hitting on his-" he broke off suddenly, his eyes widening. I whirled around, only for my eyes to meet Tae's chest.
"Hey, y/n, let's go," he said softly, but his voice sounded a little deeper than normal, more authoritative.
"Huh?" I looked up at him. His eyes looked angry; tired, frustrated.
He leaned down, closer to my ear. "I said, let's go," he whispered, the heat of his breath fanning my neck. I felt my face flush as the goosebumps rose on my neck.
Then, taking my hand in his, he led me out the door to where Jungkook and Rina were standing. I followed, not daring to look back at Minjun one more time. His business card was still in my other hand, and I quickly stuffed it into my pocket, though I wasn't sure why.
As soon as we walked out the door, he released my hand before they could see it, and walked over to Jungkook.
"Let's go." He said in a monotone.
"Okay, one sec hyung," replied Jungkook, not looking away from Rina.
"Jungkook, I said come on!" He growled. Not loudly enough to alarm anyone else, but I'd never once before heard such a forceful tone in his voice.
What the heck happened? Is he suddenly on his man period or something? He was fine just a little while ago.
Jungkook noticed it too, and immediately turned to follow Tae, mouthing a quick 'bye' to me and Rina.
That left the two of us to walk back to her apartment as we did in silence, both of us tired and aching for a nap after eating the heavy lunch.
Once we reached her apartment, I took a set of sweats and a T-shirt as she did the same and went to a bathroom to quickly change. Then, by mutual understanding, we both collapsed on the bed to sleep, but not before I remembered to quickly keep Minjun's business card in my wallet so I wouldn't lose it.
A/n: I don't really know how to feel about this chapter...it was fun to write but I just feel like I wasn't able to describe it like I saw it in my head. Plus it's a bit shorter than usual, since I felt like this was a logical point to stop
Anyways, thanks for reading, don't forget to vote and leave a comment! Love you 💕
