*Taehyung POV*
Adjusting the pillows next to me, I stared at the little loading circle on my screen as it went round and round. I was nervous, though I wasn't quite sure why. Suddenly, the screen turned black and then I could see all of them.
Six boxes showed up on my screen in a grid: Namjoon hyung and Jin hyung in the box on top left, on mute and clearly arguing about something, Rina in the box below them, Hoseok beneath that, Jungkook in the box to the right of him, drinking milk, Jimin in the box above him, and on the top right, my eyes shifted to see y/n, sitting cross- legged on her couch in her brother's hoodie and a pair of shorts.
I smiled broadly, but that smile dropped when I saw her shift over a bit on the couch to make space for Yoongi, who sat down beside her, stuffing a cookie in his mouth.
Wait, what? was I unhappy to see him? I shook my head. That's just the nervousness speaking, Taehyung. You are obviously very happy to see Yoongi hyung. Pull yourself together.
"Hi Tae!" Y/n chirped. I felt myself relax immediately. This wasn't something to be nervous about. Suck it up, Taehyung. Just say it, nothing is going to happen. Say it. Don't wait or anything. Just spit. It. Out.
"Hi. So, you guys. I'm moving back."
The effect of my words were immediate- Namjoon and Jin stopped arguing immediately, Jungkook spit out the milk he was drinking, and Jimin had pretty much disappeared from the frame. Hoseok was smiling his face off, and Rina looked happy as well. In the top right box, y/n was smiling at the screen while Yoongi was sitting forward and grinning.
"How come, hyung? You got a job here? When are you coming?" Jungkook asked.
"Yeah, I asked my dad on Sunday, and he found that I could. I'm off for a few months now, though. I'm getting a leave of absence until I settle here and decide to come back to work."
"Really, you got a leave of absence? And they're letting you back after? Usually they don't do that... other than maternity leave or health issues it's not quite common," Namjoon commented.
I tensed up a bit. Were they implying that this was nepotistic? Was it nepotistic? No. I was allowed back because I was an exemplary worker. I did all my work perfectly, on time, and great quality, right?
"It's because he's a really good employee. He took one day off this year, and his work is really good quality. Dude, even at that business dinner with the client, he closed his deal in five minutes flat." The words flew out of y/n's mouth and I blushed at the compliment. Thanks for saving me, I thought.
The nine of us talked for a little while, until Namjoon dropped something and Jin started scolding him, which the rest of us watched silently, trying not to laugh. Jimin gave us away, however- he started giggling and disappeared from the frame again, causing Jin hyung to realise that he was not, in fact, on mute.
Without apologising or anything, he just walked up to his laptop and left the call, no doubt to scold Namjoon once more. Laughing, we all talked some more for about another half hour.
Y/n got up then, and left the frame. I felt kinda distracted the whole time that she was away, though I reminded myself she must just be drinking water or using the bathroom or something.
What is wrong with you today, Taehyung?
But when she returned, she had a bowl of food in her hands. She passed it to Yoongi, who began eating, and she began to eat some from the bowl as well. My stomach grumbled, and I felt the urge to leave the call. That must be it. I'm hungry, no wonder I'm feeling so weird, I thought.
"No, stoooop, Yoongi!" Y/n said, as Yoongi pulled the hood of her hoodie over her head and pulled the strings, causing it to close over her face. She laughed as her face was hidden behind the hood, and tried to reach out to him.
"Ugh, you guys. Get a room already," Jungkook complained. My stomach grumbled. I was really hungry, probably. Even though I'd had a late lunch.
"Uh, you guys, I've got to go." I said, even though it was a complete lie. I didn't have anything to do. I just felt hungry and a little uncomfortable, but I wasn't sure why. "I'll talk to you guys later, okay?"
Without waiting for them to reply or say anything, I said: "bye!" And left the call.
I pressed my palm to my forehead. Was I sick? No. I was probably just hungry, right? But when I got up to go make myself some dinner, I realised my hands were shaking.
What is going on?

*y/n POV*
I could tell something was wrong with Taehyung. He had asked me to schedule the call today because he was free, but now he said he had to go. He wasn't even as talkative as usual.
I slurped up the rest of my food as quickly as I could, and excused myself to go to the bathroom. Once I went to my bathroom, I locked the door and pulled out my phone. Closing the toilet seat, I sat down on it and messaged taehyung:
Me: hi, you okay?
In a second or two it was read. The typing box showed up, then disappeared. This happened twice more.
Me: I'm calling
I clicked on the call button and held the phone to my ear.
"Hey?"
"Hi Tae, you okay?"
"Yeah. I'm fine." He sounded tired.
"You're not. What happened?"
"I don't know. My stomach is feeling weird, and I'm just feeling a bit sick."
"Huh. That sounds like me when I get my period." I bit my lip. I shouldn't have said that, it's random, and just tmi- he didn't need to know that.
"Yeah, well. I'm pretty sure I'm a guy."
"Well, that's easy. You're on your man period." I cringed again. Why did I say that?
"Okay, we're stopping this conversation."
"Fine. I'll go now, you eat and get some rest, but seriously, Tae, call me if you need to."
"Y/n?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you free tomorrow? Can we talk if I feel better?"
"of course!"
"Okay um. Well, thanks for calling, I'll message you later after I eat. I'll probably sleep really early tonight."
"Okay. Take care of yourself. Bye."
"Bye"
I cut the call and put my phone on the counter next to the sink. I was worried about Taehyung, but I decided to let it slide. The boy had a lot on his mind right now, it would probably be better if if gave him space.
There was a knock on the bathroom door. "Y/n?" I heard Yoongi's voice from outside.
"Yeah?"
"Are there any more cookies? Can I have one?"
"Yeah, one sec."
I got up and washed my hands, dried them on the towel before unlocking the door and walking out of the bathroom. Yoongi was sitting on the edge of my bed, looking through something on his phone. I walked over and sat down next to him, leaning against his shoulder.
The door was closed, and I could barely hear the odd noise or two from the kitchen, where my brother was. The silence made me realise how tired I was. I yawned.
"Are you tired?" He asked.
"Yeah. A bit."
"Can I ask you something?"
"Anything, go ahead."
"That girl Ara. Do you know if she's...you know, seeing anybody?" His ears went a bit pink.
My smile stretched across my face, and my heart felt lighter. He was moving on. He was looking at someone else and not her. This was great, this was progress. "I don't know. But I can ask her tomorrow if you like." I replied, watching the smile on his face grow a little.
"Yeah. Please. Thanks."
"No problem. She seems really sweet."
He sighed. "Yeah."
"Did you just sigh?" I asked teasingly.
"I'm sorry, are you not breathing?" He shot back, taking me by surprise. I began to laugh.
"Damn, that was a pretty good comeback."
"I know"
"Y/n? Are you done eating? Can I wash the dishes?" My brother's voice rang out from outside my room.
"Yep, I'll help you one sec I'm coming." I got up. Yoongi stood up with me and we walked out of my room to go help clean up. My brother saw Yoongi with me and did a double take.
"I thought he left."
"He didn't."
"Well, Yoongi, I know we're friends, and I don't want to be rude or anything, but please do not be in my sister's room alone with her."
"Oh, um yeah. Sorry, hyung."
I cleared my throat. "Do you need help with the dishes?" I walked over to help him, only to find the dishes on the drying rack, dripping wet. The counter was covered in water too, and it needed to be cleaned, but I gave him an A for effort.
"No. I'm done. Thanks though."
"Okay. You have to work after this?"
"Yeah. I'm debating on whether I should work now or just do it in the morning."
"Do it now, then you can sleep in. Hey, hey. We can go for a walk in the morning, it'll be fun." I suggested. We could go to the park that Yoongi and I went to earlier.
"Okay. Yoongi, were you gonna stay the night?" My brother asked him, taking me by surprise.
"I hadn't planned to...y/n never invites the guys over for the night, so..."
"Do you want to?" He asked.
I turned around to look at him, confused as to why he was letting a guy friend stay the night. I had never allowed any of the guys to stay over before, nor had I ever stayed at any of theirs'. Not just because I was a 'good girl' or whatever, but just because I never felt the need for it.
It was a kind of unspoken thing- Rina and I stay together, and the boys stay together.
"Yeah, sure. I just don't have-"
"I'll get you some clothes for the night." I said, and Yoongi looked at me like I was stupid.
"I'm not gonna fit into your clothes."
"They're his old ones, not mine. It's just that he only has like two pairs of night clothes. One which he'll use today, and one which is in the wash. I have like four, so I can give you some clothes. I don't think he can give you any."
"Okay."
I ran into my room and opened my clothes drawer, looking for my brother's old clothes. I found a pair of sweats that I didn't remember wearing and a big grey T-shirt that I probably found just when I moved- I didn't know where I got them- and threw them to Yoongi.
"Thanks." He walked into my bathroom to wash up and change for the night.
I walked into my brother's room. "What are you trying to get at?" I hissed at him.
"What?"
"Why are you letting him stay over?"
"You don't want him to stay over?"
"No, I do! It's just... how come you're letting him stay all of a sudden?"
"Because he's a friend! Are you uncomfortable with him staying with us?" His tone suddenly switched to a softer, more caring one.
"No, it's fine. I was just confused, that's all."
"Okay. I wanted you to know that I'm fine with your friends, I was trying to be nice!"
"I don't believe you."
He stared at me and I stared back, not breaking away my gaze or backing down I knew he had some agenda behind this- and I awaited his explanation.
He looked away. "Okay, fine. I was trying to see if you normally allowed guys to stay over. I wanted to see his reaction to me asking. I'm sorry. But I'm your brother. I have to be like this."
"You weirdo! He's been my friend since middle school!" I smacked his shoulder.
"I said sorry!"
I let out a breath. "It's fine."
"But he's sleeping in the living room, okay?"
"That's mean. That's really really mean. The living room is cold and you know it." I said, frustrated by his coldness towards my friend, who he was pretending to be nice to.
"Well, what do you expect me to do? I have a single bed, so he can't stay in my room with me, and the mattress to put on the floor is gone for dry cleaning. He has to stay in the couch. I might be lenient enough to let him stay over, but there is no way you two are staying together."
"Cant you stay in my room? I have a double bed. And he can stay here?"
He considered that. "Okay. But," he began, "if you talk too loudly in your sleep I'm gonna stuff a sock in your mouth."
I scowled at him. "You know, you snore really loudly. And I don't complain."
"It's not that loud, and I don't always snore."
"I can hear it through the wall. It's pretty loud."
"Shut up. Anyways, help me with my stuff?" He gestured towards his blanket, which I was to take to my room.
"Yeah." I picked up his blanket and pillow. "Change and come. Can you finish your work in the next hour or hour and a half?"
"Yep. I'm aiming to finish in an hour."
"Okay. Yoongi and I will be in the living room till then, maybe watching something on tv."
"Okay," he ruffled my hair as Yoongi came out of the bathroom, changed into the sweats and T-shirt that I had given him. "Yoongi, you'll sleep in my room, and I'll stay with y/n, okay?"
He looked up. "Sure, hyung. Thanks for letting me stay, by the way."
"No problem," he said. I caught him wink at me as Yoongi turned to me.
"Uh, you wanna watch something on tv?" I asked awkwardly.
"Sure," he followed me out of the room, and we sat on the couch, turning on the tv.
"Hey, y/n?" He whispered to me.
"What?" I answered irritably, not taking my eyes off the screen.
"Why is he letting me stay over?"
"I don't know, ask him." I said, not wanting to explain the whole thing.
"And also, y/n?"
"Whhhat?" I peeled my eyes away from the screen and looked at him. He had a kind of crooked smirk on his face, as if he knew he was going to embarrass me with his next question.
"Why do you have Taehyung's clothes?"
A/n: sooo, it's exam time! Yayyy! Ugh but tbh I literally am dying- I have to study in addition to my usual practise dance and piano and I swear I don't know how I'll pull through the next two weeks. Anyways, I have the holidays to look forward to, so there's something at least.
Also, I GOT MY FIRST ALBUM!! I don't know if anybody will care lol but I'm so so so excited. I preordered seventeen's semicolon and it came recently, so I'm super stoked about that. Yes, I know 'be' also released recently, and I know this is a BTS fanfic, but SEVENTEEN has been my ult for a while now and I'm so happy to have them in my life <3
Anyways, that's that, have a great day or night, and don't forget to vote and leave a comment!
