*y/n POV*
Clutching the railing tightly, I craned my neck to get a better look at the screen which displayed the arriving flights. I was outside the airport at the exit, shivering slightly in the early morning cold. I scanned until I saw my brother's flight number, and grinned when I saw the green letters reading 'ARRIVED' next to it. I kept a close watch on the glass sliding doors to see when he came.
After what felt like forever, I saw the familiar face through the glass, already grinning as he caught sight of me. The doors slid open, and he ran up to me fast as he could with all his bags. Dropping them on the ground, he enveloped me in a quick hug, and then held me back, smiling.
"You didn't sleep through the alarm?" He asked, referring to how I used to sleep through my morning alarms all the time in high school.
"I'm here, aren't I?"
"That was a rhetorical question, dumbass," he ruffled my hair. "So, you excited to see the apartment?"
"Yes, oh my gosh. I can't believe I've practically moved all my stuff to a new house but I don't even know what the place is like."
It was true; I knew the address of the place, and the locality, but I hadn't actually been inside the apartment yet. My brother was extra in that sense- he insisted that I don't see the place until the day we move in, getting me to move all my stuff to the warehouse close by, so that we could move in at the same time.
The two of us dragged his bags over to a café and sat down there, ordering a coffee for me and some snacks for him.
"Can I try that?" He pointed at my coffee and I handed it over to him. He took a sip and made a face. "I don't like it."
"It's too thin" we said at the same time, and burst out laughing, earning some sideward glances from the people around us. Reaching out across the table, I made a movement as if to place my hand on his, but flicked his palm as hard as I could. He jerked away and slapped at my palm, but I had already pulled away by then, which meant that he slapped the place where my hand had been resting on the table, making me smile even harder.
"You're a bloody idiot, you know that?" He joked.
I gasped dramatically and put my hand over my heart. "How dare you!"
"How dare you?"
Our little argument was interrupted by my phone beginning to ring. Looking at the caller id, I suddenly realised that we hadn't called or messaged our parents after he had landed, and my mum was trying to reach me now.
I handed the phone to him and he picked up, talking to my mom for a few minutes before handing it back to me. I spoke to her for a little bit as well, and by the time I was done, he had finished his food.
Then, grabbing two trolleys, we piled his bags up on them, and pushed one each. I wished that he had fewer bags, so that I could sit on the trolley, and he could push it like I used to when we were younger.
We finally reached the shuttle stop, and got on the soonest one back into the city. By then, the sun was already coming up, and we reached my apartment at around seven.
Dragging his bags into my living room, we sat down for a bit while I put together a proper breakfast for myself. Since he had already eaten I didn't make much for him, just giving him fruits.
The movers were coming to help us with stuff from the warehouse at eight, so we left at around seven thirty to get a look around the apartment before they came. Standing outside the building, I jumped up and down like a little kid. I didn't remember the last time I had been so excited. We walked into the main entrance, and I shut my eyes.
My brother placed his hand over my eyes and led me into the elevator slowly, pressing the right button. I could feel it slowing down after a few seconds of rising, and shuffled out after the ding, holding onto my brother's hand for support and guidance.
He led me down a hallway and stopped, taking his hands off my eyes.
"Don't open your eyes yet, okay?"
"Okay."
I heard the clicking sound of the lock and the door swinging open, and let him guide me a few steps forward.
He took a deep breath. "Okay. Open your eyes now."

The first thing that I noticed about the place was the light. There were beautiful large windows that let the light in, illuminating the empty space that would soon be home.
My back was facing the door, and the kitchen was an open space to my right, with plenty of cupboards lining the counter for storage. There was a gap where a fridge would fit perfectly, and a nice big counter where we could lay out all our cooking stuff comfortably.
Ahead of me was the open area that would be the living room, with a sliding door next to it, which opened onto the little balcony. There was plenty of light there, so I figured we could grow some plants.
A few feet ahead of me to my left was a door opening into one of the bedrooms, and further ahead still was the door to the other. I walked to the first one and peered in. It was quite small, but it had a bathroom of its own. The second one was slightly larger, and had a smaller bathroom comparatively.
"Which room do you want?" I asked him.
"Uh, which one do you want?"
"I asked you first."
"I bought the house."
There was no arguing with that.
"Okay, same time. That one is room 1 and this one is room 2. Which one do you want? We'll say at the same time."
"Okay. Three, two, one." He counted down.
"One!"
"-two!" I said. I felt a little guilty for wanting the bigger room, but I did have more stuff. Thankfully, the two of us usually chose the different rooms whenever we moved. I didn't know what it was, but never, through all of our moving houses, had we both wanted the same room and argued over it.
"Okay, then. Great!" He smiled at me. "How do you like the place? I know it's a bit small, I thought it would be bigger too," he disclaimed.
"It's not that small, it's around the same size as my old apartment. A little bigger, actually."
"Yeah, but now there's two of us. Plus, we need to put all the furniture in here."
"Eh, it's fine. We'll manage."
"You're seriously okay with it?"
"Yeah! I really like it, honestly."
His face broke into a broad grin. "Yay!" He clapped his hands like a little kid. "Should we videocall them?" He asked, referring to our parents.
"Yeah. We have like ten minutes before the movers come, so we'll talk to them till then."
The videocall wasn't going through, so we switched just to audio and promised to give them a house tour once we had settled in completely and got the wifi up and running. My parents sounded so happy, and that pulled at my heart strings a little bit- part of me again wished they were here with us, having all the fun.
I hadn't taken a holiday from work today, but I did have permission to go late, so I stayed at home helping my brother move things in until around a quarter to eleven, when we had the wifi all set up, and a couple pieces of furniture in place like his desk, one comfy brown armchair, and a little coffee table with two folding chairs for the balcony.
The movers left and would come back the next day, and my brother showered, collapsed on the armchair, and promptly fell asleep. He was terribly jetlagged, so I let him be and left after getting him a blanket from one of my boxes.
I didnt have a ton to finish at work, so my boss actually let me out early, and I was able to walk to the new apartment in just over ten minutes. I grabbed some instant ramyeon on the way, since we didn't have much cooking stuff ready.
I didn't have my house key, so I knocked on the door when I reached, and was pleasantly surprised to see the door opened for me by Jimin, and to find two more of my friends sitting on the floor of the living room area with my brother.
As I entered he threw me a look, like save me from these imbeciles. Right. Like I would. It was about time he became friends with my friends anyways; he'd never really bothered talking to any of my school friends earlier, other than the occasional 'hi' to Rina when she was over.
"Hi y/n, come sit with us!" Jimin's cheery voice called to me, as he made his way back to the living room area.
"One sec," I said, removing my shoes and going to change out of my outside clothes. I walked into my bedroom and shut the door, washed up and changed, and came back out feeling refreshed.
Rina was here, along with jimin and Hoseok, who seemed to be getting along quite well with my brother so far. I sat between Rina and my brother where there was a big gap, leaning back against the wall.
"How come you guys came?" I asked.
"We wanted to see the house," Jimin said.
"We wanted to see you, and the house," Rina corrected, but Hoseok cut her off.
"Mainly the house."
I opened my mouth to retort when my phone started ringing. Jimin passed me my bag, and I opened it and dug around for the phone, which seemed to be buried at the bottom. I fished it out, and when clicked the green "pick up" button, I was greeted by Taehyung's boxy smile on video chat.
"Hi, Tae! How are you?"
"I'm doing great, y/n, how's the move going?"
"Great, Hoseok, Rina and Jimin are actually here right now," I said.
"Hi Taehyung!" Jimin and hoseok called out from beside me. My brother scooted over so that the two of them could move closer and were in the frame.
"So, y/n. I need the empty house tour." He prodded.
"Who is that?" My brother asked. "I know him, but I don't. Like I've seen him before, who is he?"
"You remember Taehyung? He would be there at Jungkook's house, you know?" I wasn't sure if they knew each other well since I only got to become friends with the boys after he left. He knew Yoongi the best, I guess, and then maybe namjoon? I don't know.
"Wait, like the rich one?" He asked me in a lowered voice.
I laughed. "Yeah. The rich one."
"Hi Hyung!" Tae called out to my brother, waving out.
"Hey!" My brother said awkwardly, and then scooted away. I flipped the camera around and went to the front door, guiding Tae through the apartment. It took all of two minutes, and when I flopped down on the floor after finishing, Tae said that he'd call me back later, he had to go.
"Okay, bye Tae!"
"Bye y/n!"

My friends stayed until about six thirty, after which my brother and I ate our ramyeon on the balcony, chatting until the sun went down.
"when we were really small you used to get away with everything." He commented.
"What? When?"
"You know how dad didn't really ever scold you until like- I don't know but like I used to get in trouble so much more when we were really little."
"That's cause I never did anything wrong, you always got in trouble for bothering me."
"No, I never did anything!"
"Oh right, you weren't some angel or something, shut up"
"Yeah but like why did I always get in trouble? You could get away with anything."
"Cause I never did anything to you! If you were just chilling I would leave you alone, or I would be nice to you! I wouldn't come and say something rude for no reason!"
"I was nice to you!"
"Right, totally."
We bickered like this on and on until he let out a huge yawn.
"You wanna go in?"
"Yeah."
We picked up all our stuff and went back inside, throwing the disposable spoons and forks away. It was still early, so we watched some Netflix for a little while and called our parents to show them around before trying to get to sleep.
We didn't have our furniture yet so we dragged our mattress to the living room and lay our pillows on it, and got into bed after switching off the lights.
"Hey, can you scoot a little bit over to that side?" I asked. I was squished to one side of the mattress, and there was hardly any space for my legs.
"No, I'm half on the floor already."
"Don't lie, you're taking up so much space."
"No I'm not, I'm taking up exactly half, and you're tiny, you shouldn't even need that much space."
"Hey! Shut up!"
"Stop complaining and just sleep, okay?"
I grumbled and turned over, but eventually my brother apologised for taking up too much space, and then scooted a bit, falling asleep almost instantly. For the next quarter of an hour, however, I lay awake, staring at the ceiling, and then fell asleep after what had been, undeniably, the best day I'd had in a long, long time.
A/n: hi there loves! Hope you're having an amazing day or night wherever you are💕 I was about halfway through this chapter when I realised that y/n's brother does not have a name yet lol, and I couldn't come up with one, so please do leave me some suggestions for names if you can think of any.
Thank you, and don't forget to vote! <3
