Chapter Two
"Only know you love her when you let her go" -Passenger (Let Her Go)
It had been a hard night for Sirius Black. Finding out that all of his friends were alive brought back memories that he should have forgotten long ago. All of these memories being brought back to the light meant one thing: nightmares. Normally, he didn't scream. He had learned in Azkaban that screaming did no good. However, tonight was different. Tonight, he watched Jasmine's body fall as his own cousin shot her with a green light that sent fear into his heart. Try as he might, he couldn't hold back the scream of pain and fear it brought him. It felt like his heart was being torn to shreds as Bellatrix skipped around, happy that she ruined her cousin's life. However, before the dream could continue, he felt himself being woken up. Jasmine's voice entered his subconscious, and as his hands gripped hers, tears fell down his face as he woke up.
"Siri?" She whispered, worried.
"Jas." His voice was relieved as he pulled her against his chest, breathing in her scent. She smelled like flowers. Flowers and coconut and...home. He felt safe. Like they were 17 again and nothing else mattered except for the fact that they were together, and she was in his arms. Like the day they had their first date and they had went to the Three Broomsticks to have a butterbeer, and it had started pouring down raining. They had spent the rest of the day cuddled up on the couch, keeping each other warm after they hadn't bothered to change out of their wet clothes. That was the first day he had kissed her. They had been so happy then, so young and carefree. It almost felt like a completely different century, not a little under twenty years ago.
However, it was just a little under twenty years ago. Maybe things would be different if she wouldn't have left. But she did leave. She left in the middle of the night and pretended to be dead. She had left him heartbroken and desolate. She had taken everything from him and left him nothing but a will to die. However, right now, that was not the focus of his thoughts. He needed to hold her and kiss her and tell her that he loved her. He needed to feel her body curving and reacting to his as he made sure, on some subconscious level, that she was still alive and whole.
With those thoughts, it didn't take long before he was kissing her, consuming her.
The kissed deepened, leading to something more. They couldn't stop. It didn't matter if part of Sirius wasn't sure he wanted to; he was too far gone for those doubts to do much good.
He started kissing down her neck, her hands steadily going farther up his torso. He smirked to himself as he hit her weak point, proud that he remembered it after all these years. He bit at the spot, groaning himself as she whimpered below him.
He shushed her as he slowly continued his work. He bit on her collarbone, smiling as she moaned.
His hands wandered lower, her incessant moans spurring him on.

When Sirius woke up the next morning, Jasmine was wrapped in his arms. The sight of her face first thing in the morning brought back memories of the easy times. Before they joined the Order. Before the war fully started. Before their lives crumbled around them. He sighed as he slowly stood up, making sure she didn't wake up. He couldn't afford for her to think he had forgiven her. He didn't know if he had yet.
He slipped into the kitchen, seeing Remus already awake.
"Love 'em and leave 'em? Really, Sirius? I thought that you were past all of that."
"We were. Until she decided to pop back into my life. I'm just not ready to wake up next to her again."
Remus nodded understandingly; he knew that just because he could wake up beside Jessica didn't mean that Sirius was ready to do the same.
"Sirius...you have to get over this. You don't know why she did what she did. I'm not saying that I agree with it, because I don't. I'm just saying that maybe you should give her the chance to explain."
Sirius sighed in frustration, running his hands through his hair. "I know, Rem. I just can't right now. I can't take knowing that she completely abandoned me for so long. I need to know why, but I'm not sure that I want to know why she thought it was necessary to leave me like that."
"Take it from someone who knows why; it'll be worth it."
Sirius sighed again, his frustration showing through his careful exterior. "Maybe. We'll see, Remus."
And with that, Sirius was gone upstairs. Later that night, an argument sounded through the ever thinning walls of the house.
"Sirius, please. You have to listen to me."
"Why the Hell should I? You left. Maybe you should have stayed gone."
"You don't mean that," she whispered
"What the Hell do you know about what I mean? You left. Remember?"
"I didn't have a choice!" she defended herself.
"What the Hell is that supposed to mean?! Of course, you had a choice! And obviously you didn't choose me. Didn't choose us."
"That's not fair!" she growled.
"Life isn't fair." He stormed out of the room, leaving her alone with her thoughts. The pain in her heart overwhelmed her, and she fell to the ground in a ball and sobbed. She pulled herself off the ground and wiped her eyes. She needed space.

Jasmine just meant for it to be a walk. If she would have known what was going to happen, she never would have walked outside. However, as it happened she didn't know. She just needed a walk to clear her head, a chance to think about her reasons for leaving. She knew it was stupid and selfish, and she couldn't think of a good enough reason besides to protect him. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice when an old enemy clasped his hand around her mouth. Before she could even register that she needed to scream or fight to get away, her entire world turned black.
